This is my newest Original Fan Fic, Doors to Soul or DTS. I put a lot of effort into the plot and characters (Although I do suck with anime attempted names) so I’d like some feedback on where you think I can improve and what you think is going well. There are however small aspects that I think may resemble Bleach due to the whole concept of the Soul. I’d appreciate no smart ass comments please, nothing like “Oh look another yadda yadda yadda”.
That’s about it, anyway enjoy.
NOTE: No other chapter will be anywhere near this long.
Evertown stood peacefully, bathing in the warmth released by the bright sun and the peacefulness exerted by the blue sky. The grey tar paved roads welcomed the occasional car, just like the occasional shop welcomed its guest. The small white houses engulfed the city covering almost every corner and sides of the road, their structure seemed miniscule when compared to the size of the town.
At the end of the west side of the town stood 3 large rectangular buildings all standing side by side connected. The structure bore with it, 6 rows of stairs leading to the front entrance, an indoor basketball court, a cafeteria and many classrooms with 6 tables by 5 rows in each one and 3 windows that displayed what lay outside the building.

Each room was filled with students taking notes and abiding by their teacher’s request. The teachers stood at the front of the rooms aligning with the centre tables, displaying the share of power the teacher bore when compared to the students. The students all wore blue jackets, with a small collar around the neck, the jackets were normally buttoned up through the usage of 3 buttons. The Students also wore blue pants and white collared shirts with a blue tie. The girls wore blue skirts that dropped to half way down their thighs and wore white long sleeve collared shirts with no tie.

Room A5, as seen by the display on the class room door, welcomed the ring of the school bell, signalling the bald and short bearded teacher with glasses to give the table filled students the okay to pack up their things. The teacher stood at no more than 5”7 and wore a wooly vest and black pants. After hearing the bell he stood up and cupped his hands together behind his back leaning forward slightly, he appeared to be around 55 years old and had an aged stature.

“Okay class, remember to read up on Chapters 10 and 11 for tomorrows quiz, you’re dismissed.” The teacher known as Mr. Kyoto stated as he picked up a dark green jacket and some books off his desk. His statement led to the growing sound of students talking as they all grabbed their bags and packed their things away. Noticeably one boy remained in his desk facing out the window to his left. His hand pressed against his chin holding his head up as he looked out the window with focus.

The boy appeared to be about 5”9 and wore his blue jacket unbuttoned revealing his plain white shirt that unlike the others didn’t have a collar. The small blue collar of the jacket stood up straight being met by the descent of the back of his dark brown hair. On top and at the front, his hair curved in a spiky way to the right, the back of the top in contrast curled the other way. His green eyes glistened in the rays of reflection of the sun through the window.

The boy’s focus was suddenly thrown off as 2 hands had planted with force on the desk in front of him. The boy took his elbow off the desk and looked forward with slight confusion, revealed to him was the smiling face of a girl with long blonde hair that bore strains going down the top of her chest, she was quite busty and attractive with fair skin, her blue eyes emitted the same smile that could be interpreted from her mouth. The sleeves of her white collared shirt were rolled up and her gold bracelet had dangled from her wrist laying on the table.

“Hiro didn’t you hear? We can go now?” The girl questioned showing no signs of reverting her smile.

Hiro’s expression changed from confused to one of appreciation as he replied with a nod and a light smile. Taking one last glance out the window Hiro stood up and put his bag over on one shoulder walking with the slightly smaller girl who had her own bag over her two shoulders.

As the two headed for the door they stopped in response to Mr. Kyoto’s voice.

“Don’t forget to study up.” Mr. Kyoto stated, smiling at the pair.

The 2 turned around and smiled, with a slight nod the 2 continued and walked out the room and down the hallway, into the crowd with many other students. In the room Mr.
Kyoto placed his briefcase on his desk, the smile on his face had now been replaced with a frown and discontent look. He unclipped the locks on his briefcase and opened the top, revealing a small katana blade with a black hold to it. The blade was no more than 30 cm long.

Mr. Kyoto grasped the blade with both hands and lifted it out of the brief case.

“It’s time…” Kyoto thought to himself as he placed the katana back in the briefcase and closed the top.

Meanwhile, the pair of Hiro and the girl had just walked out the front open doors of the school. Many other students walked out, slowly separating as they headed towards the path that led to their homes. Walking down the stairs that led to the entrance to the school, Hiro looked down and then at the girl next to him.

“Hey Selia.” Hiro began, catching the attention of Selia who smiled, using this as a sign as if to say continue. “Do you believe in dreams?”

“Dreams?” Selia questioned with confusion as she began to ponder over an answer, she than smiled and faced Hiro replying. “Well yea, but you can’t just expect them to come true you need to grab them!” Selia replied with enthusiasm as she jumped forward attempting to grab the air.

Hiro smiled and looked forward. “That’s all I needed to know.” He thought to himself as the two continued to walk on. Heading down the grey tar paved street the 2 suddenly stopped as a voice called from behind.

“Hiro! Selia!” The 2 turned around to see a boy about 6”1 tall with his blue jacket buttoned up and bag over his shoulders. His neck long black hair was straight at the back and spiked at the top, he also had brown eyes. Upon approaching he panted and leaned forward with his hands on his knees.

“Hey Tora.” Hiro greeted as he put his hand on Tora’s shoulder. “Breath Buddy.” Hiro stated as he chuckled lightly. Tora stood up straight showing off his height and laughed with his hands on his hips.

“I’m fine!” Tora stated as he began to walk on with Hiro and Selia either side of him. The 3 continued to walk down the path, passing by many houses and children playing on the streets. The once blue sky was now orange in response to the sun setting over the far waters.

Noticeably standing on a roof directly behind the 3 at the far end of the street, wearing a black robe with a hoodie on was a small man, his face was not visible to the eye. Hiro suddenly stopped and with a slightly suspicious look he turned to that roof, he saw nothing, the man had disappeared. Hiro returned to walking with the others, not feeling any need to pursue his original thought.

Upon approaching to a particular white house the 3 stopped and Tora headed for the front door. Tora turned his head and waved with a smile. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow!”

Hiro and Selia waved in response and continued walking on.

After a while of walking the two suddenly stopped and faced two houses that stood next to each other, both were white and quite small. The sky had turned to a dark blue,
night fall was already upon the town.

“It’s dark already?” Selia questioned while looking at the sky and with 1 finger on her lip.

Hiro also looked up at the sky. “Weird…it’s only 5 o clock…”

The 2 stood in silence for another moment then Hiro began walking to the house to the left.

“Hiro…” Selia began causing Hiro to look back in question, her expression showed that she was being serious. “You know…If you ever want to talk about i-“

“No.” Hiro interrupted in a soft tone, looking down he continued. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” Hiro turned and began walking towards the door.

“You don’t’ have to separate yourself from us…” Selia thought to herself as she walked over to her house. The 2 were neighbours and had been for 12 years.

Upon walking into his family’s house Hiro was approached by a woman who appeared to be of quite an old age, she smiled and greeted Hiro.

“Hiro, how was your day?” Hiro put his jacket on the coat hanger next to the door and put on a fake smile replying to the woman.

“Fine Maria where’s George?” Maria smiled and walked into the room to her left, the carpet floored room was furnished with 2 lounges and a Tv along with a portrait over a fire place with 2 young boys, Maria and an elderly man. One of the boys appeared to be Hiro at a younger age, and the other looked to be a slightly older version of Hiro, the older man depicted in the photo was sitting on one of the lounges watching tv.

Hiro walked into the room and greeted George, George glanced at Hiro and smirked.

“So Hiro anything new?” George’s deep voice rang through the room.

Hiro chuckled lightly as he sat on a lounge and replied. “It’s only been a few hours what could be new?”

George laughed and replied. “Kids in your generation.” This was a common response by George, his generation were the more strict, more disciplined generation.

“Would you like some tea dear?” Maria asked Hiro, who shook his head.

“No thanks, I’m…I’m just gonna go to sleep.” Hiro displayed the same fake smile he displayed on several occasions. Hiro stood up and made his way out the room and up the stairs heading for his room.

The wooden floor creaked with every step Hiro took, the light in the room could only be known as minimal as the only source came from the windows. Hiro opened a particular wooden door showing a room with a bed, a little desk, a cupboard, a big window above the desk and a photograph of 2 boys above the bed, one appearing to be a younger version of Hiro and the other looking like a slightly older version of Hiro at the time.

“Zaku…” Hiro thought to himself as he payed closer attention to the taller and slightly older boy in the photo. Hiro took off his shoes and tossed them aside, sitting on the bed he threw his legs out straight along it. Hiro put his hands behind his bed looking up at the small window in the roof that revealed the night sky.

Hiro thought to himself for a moment. His hair rested on the pillow under his head, the night lit room was motionless, the only sound was that of a ticking clock.

After a few hours distress could be seen in Hiro’s face as he was sleeping. Drops of sweat began to run from his forehead as he moved around slightly. In Hiro’s dream he saw himself at 5 years old, deep in a bed cowering under the sheets. Tears were running down the 5 year olds face as he heard the sound of a woman and a man screaming. An image of the boy Zaku, in the photo suddenly came to his head.

Hiro suddenly sprung up sitting up and panting heavily. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and put his legs off the bed allowing him to sit on the edge of the bed and cover his face in his hands for a brief moment. Hiro still wearing his school clothing, got up put on his shoes and headed down the stairs.

This wasn’t the first time Hiro had had that dream, they were common images that came to his head when he slept, Hiro often went for walks to take his mind off the dream.

After making his way down the stairs Hiro opened the red door and left the house, he then closed the door and made his way down the street.

Hiro’s hands were in his jacket pocket, his eyes were half opened and he continuously looked down showing signs of pain and sadness.

“Why did it have to happen?” Hiro asked himself as he continued down the white path. The night sky lit the town in darkness, the street lights did what they could to light up the town. The streets were empty, no cars drove at the hour it was.

Hiro’s walk led him to a park area with a bench and table along with a playground like area not too far behind. Upon walking past the playground Hiro merely glanced at it and began reminiscing of a time when he was a young kid and Zaku was 13, the two used to play on the swings and go down the slides. Zaku cherished the friendship he established with his brother, he swore he would risk his own life to save that of Hiro’s.

Hiro stopped reminiscing and kept walking facing forward and thinking to himself.

“If that’s true…then why’d you leave…why couldn’t you take me with you?”

Hiro’s walk took him to a cemetery where gravestones were lined up in many rows. The light grass was cut to perfection, the graveyard was connected to a forest like area that
lay behind it. Hiro stopped at two particular gravestones, they depicted the names “Sonya Izanagi” and “Brad Izanagi”, the grave stones also wrote on both of them.

“Loving father and mother of Zaku Izanagi and Hiro Izanagi, may their parent’s souls enrich their children’s lives for the better.”

Hiro, hands still in his jacket pocket looked at the gravestones with discontent.

“A robbery…why…why would someone do that…” Hiro thought to himself. “…Rest in peace…mum…dad…” As Hiro was about to turn around he heard a man screaming in pain from the small forest. Hiro without hesitation turned to face the Tree covered are and ran towards it.

Upon approaching he dashed between a group of trees and ended up in a slightly open area of short cut grass. The trees that surrounded the small plain like area waved in the slight breeze of the wind. Hiro suddenly looked in shock.

“T…Tora…” Hiro attempted to call out but rather whispered it due to his shock. Tora was kneeling on his knees holding his arm, Tora’s chest was bruised and bloodied as was his face, his once blue jacket and white shirt were now completely ripped and his pants were also in poor condition.

Tora panted, his wounded face and half opened eye depicted exhaustion and pain. Upon Tora noticing Hiro to his left and a couple of metres away, his face turned to shock and anger.

“Get out of here Hiro!” Tora called out. Hiro stood still as a chilled wind swept the area, suddenly about 10 metres in front of Tora, a short man wearing a black robe like clothing with a hoodie appeared in a black mist. The figure stood still.

“Hiro get out of here!” Tora insisted, Hiro didn’t respond, Tora already knew his intentions however, he would not leave if Tora was in pain.

Hiro faced the figure then shook his head slightly coming to the realization that he couldn’t stand and watch his friend get hurt. Suddenly the figure in the black robe without warning revealed a small katana blade in his hand with a black holding grip. The blade appeared to be no more than 30 cm long.

The small framed man suddenly dashed forward with the katana blade to the side of his body, upon approaching he sliced the katana downwards. Tora closed his eyes in worry as he expected the worst. After feeling no pain Tora slowly opened his eyes, to his shock Hiro stood in front of Tora with his back turned to him. Hiro’s head was down as he panted heavily, blood ran down the front of his chest. A big slice went across Hiro’s shirt ripping it in two and revealing a deep wound across his chest.

The hooded figure had jumped back to his original position not expecting Hiro to have jumped in front of Tora. Hiro fell to his knees, Hiro spat out blood and began coughing.

Tora struggling continued to hold his arm as he stood up and eagerly walked in front of Hiro to assess the damage.

Tears began running down Tora’s eyes. “H…Hi…ro…” Tora faced the figure in anger and furry as he called out. “You monster! Hiro isn’t the one you want!”

“On the contrary.” The hooded man began, his calm voice depicted someone of no remorse or regret for his actions. “Hiro is the reason you’re here isn’t it?”

Tora suddenly looked shocked. “How could he know?!” Tora thought to himself. Tora grinded his teeth and clenched his fists. “You’ll pay!” Tora dashed forward overcoming his pain and throwing a punch upon approaching the man. The Mysterious man simply ducked under the punch and kneed the gut of Tora. Tora fell to the ground holding his gut, his body lay on its side. All he could do was watch as the robed man walked towards Hiro with his small katana to his side. The man put the katana to Hiro’s neck.

Hiro was still on his knees, blood continued to trail to the ground in response to its release from the wound. His eyes remained open showing his once green pupils were now white and lifeless, his brown hair remained in its perfect position, quite the contrast to the rest of his body.

“Time to die.”

“No!” Tora called attempting to get to his knees but falling to his gut unable to perform the task.

Inside Hiro’s mind, his body was falling down into an area where there was only darkness. In his mind he wasn’t wounded at all, as if he was never even struck by the katana. His body continued to plunge into the darkness surrounding. There were no walls or flooring, only the darkness that covered the area.

“Is this all that’s left of me….is this really real?” Hiro asked himself his body continuing to descend into the dark depths. “Zaku…I can’t let it end here….I will find you…Our dream will come true…”

Suddenly Hiro’s body began to descend a lot slower much to the point his body had completely stopped descending. A dark blue circular floor suddenly appeared beneath him,
Hiro landed gracefully and softly on his knees on the mysterious blue ground. The area was suddenly engulfed with dark blue fog floating through the darkened area.

“Where am I?” Hiro thought to himself as he turned his head in all directions, he remained on his knees pondering over his location.

“You want the power…” A slow deep voice suddenly spoke from nowhere, plaguing the darkened area with an echo. “To help souls…But you can’t get that power…without unlocking your own…”

“Who’s there?!” Hiro called out turning his head from side to side scouting the dark area, suddenly the blue fog in front of the kneeling Hiro scattered and diminished. A bright light began to glow from the area, it was a dark blue light that shone and lit the dark area. Hiro looked away blocking the light with his hands.

As the light diminished a big door took its place. The door stood at 2 metres high and 1 wide, it was a dark blue and bore the picture of a small heart with the Japanese symbol for the heart in the centre of the small picture. The door was dark blue and had a strange design on the top of the door.

“A door?” Hiro asked himself.

“The soul is affected by one’s own vision…what you see is what matters…” The deep voice echoed. “Trust in the soul and open the door…open the door to your Heart…”

Hiro slowly moved his arm forward and clenched the door knob, he then without hesitation twisted it and opened it. A bright light shone from within covering the darkness.

“The Door to Soul has opened…farewell Hiro…”
“Wait who are you!?” Hiro called out, his question led to no answer as the area disappeared in a bright light bringing Hiro back to reality, his once white and unconscious eyes were now a constant green. The colour swirled around his pupils. Hiro appeared to be in much less pain as he stood up straight, the mysterious man continued to hold his small katana with the point pointed at Hiro’s neck.

“Wh-What’s this?” The man said as he suddenly took a step back. Suddenly a blue aura surrounded Hiro, his clothes began to become replaced, the once blue jacket was now
black as were the pants, and they appeared to be undamaged, his white shirt was back to one piece. The man took another step back.

“You can’t open up a door! You’re a regular!”

Hiro said nothing, he held his right arm straight out to the side as a blue light unveiled a long blade, with a dark blue grasping point.

By this point the man was a few metres away. He suddenly stopped and gained an unrealistic sense of confidence, he dashed forward with his katana ready to slash down at Hiro,
Hiro with no change of his discontent expression gripped the giant sword and slashed forward in an uppercut motion. A surge of blood sprayed in the air as the hooded man was
sent a few metres off the ground and landing a few metres away on his back.

The man’s robe was torn as was the front of his chest that now bore with it a huge gash of a wound. Blood seeped from his chest and trailed down to the grass underneath
him, he was not a stocky man, quite skinny and slightly old.

Tora looked on with disbelief. “How did he…” He thought to himself as he watched Hiro’s clothes revert back to their ruined state and the blue aura surrounding him diminish.
Tora slowly got to his knee, the effort he put in could be show through his facial expression. When he managed to stand up he pressed his arm over his gut in an attempt to block out the pain and walked over to Hiro who was walking towards the man on the ground.

His hoodie had flown off his head, he lay in a pool of his own blood, the black robe suddenly disappeared and was replaced by a wooly vest and black pants. The blood could still be seen as it soaked up into the wooly vest and dripped over the top of the black pants.

Upon approaching Hiro looked shocked, glaring at the individual’s face he called out in question.

“Mr…Kyoto?” The man was now identified to be his teacher, his once calm face was now releasing portion of blood from his mouth. Kyoto coughed out blood, the little katana blade he once possessed was now gone.

Hiro with a confused and angered expression turned to the limping Tora.

“Tora what’s going on!?”

“I…can answer….” Spoke the struggling voice of Mr. Kyoto who’s body lay motionless and cold. “I was sent….to watch…you Hi…ro…”

“What? What do you mean you’re my teacher…” Hiro replied, Tora had just arrived and stood next to Hiro in front of the laying Mr. Kyoto.

“Ha….a disgui-se…I’ve been your tea…cher all….your life….I monitored…your growth…watched you grow….stronger…”

“Stronger?” Every statement by Mr. Kyoto didn’t help in the slightest.

“I was…sent by the….Shadica…be weary…Hiro the…shadic…a…will find…you…”

“The shadica…find me? Tora what’s going on?”

Tora shook his head. “I don’t know, but something that’s for sure.”

Hiro turned to the wounded teacher who surprisingly had a grin on his face.

“What’s going on….” Hiro murmured under his breath.

The body of Mr. Kyoto suddenly began to diminish into black specs, 100’s of specs ascended into the air and diminished from sight. Once all of the former teacher’s body was gone the blood that was underneath him also disappeared.

Hiro knelt down and ran his hand along the grass.

“It disappeared…” Hiro quickly stood up and turned to Tora. “Alright what’s going on!”

A nervous smile engulfed Tora’s face as he replied. “I honestly don’t know I came out for a walk and he attacked me.” A serious expression arose from Tora. “To think his been our teach for so long…maybe we should get going Hiro.” Without awaiting a response, Tora turned and began to walk out the forest like area.

Hiro remained looking at the scene briefly, he lifted his right hand head high and observed it. He began thinking about what had happened and looked to the back of his palm, imprinted was the Japanese symbol he saw on the picture of the heart. The inscription was in dark blue and covered most of the back of his palm.

“What happened to me…” Hiro wondered as he headed for outside the forest like area.
