Um, Desu, it's Sat-*leg breaker*

It's Sunday in Australian time -shot because I feel you already knew that otherwise you wouldn't have broken your legs on purpose, that or you're just incredibly stupid and just felt like breaking your legs. Which I believe you're doing the latter.-

Desu, are you Australian as well? o:

Yeah, but he is HALF ghost and even then his legs never get hurt when he is in ghost form

Unless I missed an episode

Hmmmm . . .

*thinks*

He gets hurt in ghost form. Think of it, like, you can decide for everything to go through you, but then you can't ever lay a hit on anything.

Ghost =/= Phase

Ghost -> Phase

So, as depicted by my AMAZING diagram, we can still get hurt, unless we decide to phase(faze? I never learned which word was right).

Aight.

Part 2 is here.

BEFORE YOU GO READ AND BEFORE YOU GO COMMENTING:

I want to ask a favor.

Would it be alright if I got like...specific feedback?

By that, I mainly mean for the ending. Because the ending of this part was one of the few things that I ACTUALLY planned for the fic since the very beginning.

The VERY beginning.

It's what I hoped to be a major twist. Whether I failed epically or won masterfully, I want to know how I did. Since, you know, this is one of those things I had envisioned writing since the start.

Heads-up, it's a flashback chapter.

HOLD ON, HOLD ON, DON'T GO SKIMMING IT.

I know flashbacks are off-putting, but TRUST me: this one isn't that bad.

It intertwines with a lot of events that happened in the fic and pretty much ties up most of the loose ends still hanging, including the prologue.

And if it means anything...the story in this part surrounding this character...has made him my favorite character.

Even over Chris.

So with that said...I really, really hope you enjoy this next part.

And don't worry, epic final fight and shizz is up next.

[spoiler=Read after finishing Part 2]

SO WHO SAW THAT COMING?

ANYONE?

I'll be impressed if anyone actually figured it out before the end there. I mean, this wouldn't work in a novel, since when you read a novel, everything tends to be fresh in your mind.

Whereas for you guys, probably 1 out of 10 of you actually remembered Sabakuro from the Karnon Kills shop back in DEF Part 1. That was probably the biggest hint, it's why I had the "old man" go unnamed.

Either that, or the fact I had him fall through a trap door right at the start and didn't mention him since :T

Other than that...in retrospect, Donovyn feels like DEF's Snape, doesn't he?

Otherwise, sorry I didn't delve too much into fights like Death vs Ryko/Deus and Death vs Flame/Roxas, but I figured it wasn't crucial to delve into detail since everyone knew the outcomes anyway.

And in case anyone was wondering, I'll flash to the start of the fight of DEF vs Life in Part 3. Since you guys were probably wondering what happened to Crab, Aka and Andex.

So uh...good?

Bad?

Meh?

*Sighs.*

By that, I mainly mean for the ending. Because the ending of this part was one of the few things that I ACTUALLY planned for the fic since the very beginning.

The VERY beginning.

*Still mindf*cked.*

It's what I hoped to be a major twist. Whether I failed epically or won masterfully, I want to know how I did. Since, you know, this is one of those things I had envisioned writing since the start.

You don't seem to realize how hard it is to mindf*ck me. I'm not your average mindwhore.

Heads-up, it's a flashback chapter.

HOLD ON, HOLD ON, DON'T GO SKIMMING IT.

I never do.

I know flashbacks are off-putting, but TRUST me: this one isn't that bad.

They're not bad as long as they aren't too badly abused.

It intertwines with a lot of events that happened in the fic and pretty much ties up most of the loose ends still hanging, including the prologue.

And if it means anything...the story in this part surrounding this character...has made him my favorite character.

Even over Chris.

I think most people tend to like their character the most. :/

Huzzah~!

[spoiler=Read after finishing Part 2]

SO WHO SAW THAT COMING?

ANYONE?

I saw Donovyn being a double agent coming ever since Jake fought life but I think everybody did. Ninjew being Death is a huge twist to me and I never would have seen it coming. Helps to be a super duper dumbass

I'll be impressed if anyone actually figured it out before the end there. I mean, this wouldn't work in a novel, since when you read a novel, everything tends to be fresh in your mind.

Are you implying that I have the attention span to read a novel nonstop?

Whereas for you guys, probably 1 out of 10 of you actually remembered Sabakuro from the Karnon Kills shop back in DEF Part 1. That was probably the biggest hint, it's why I had the "old man" go unnamed.

Usually I'm pretty good at remembering minor details but I don't even know what a Karnon Kills is. That's that weapon shop place, right? If so I wondered about Rogue's dad...

Either that, or the fact I had him fall through a trap door right at the start and didn't mention him since :T

Definitely doesn't ring a bell. I may have been slightly skimming through that part because I was tired or...because I had been reading too much...*Not the greatest attention span.*

Other than that...in retrospect, Donovyn feels like DEF's Snape, doesn't he?

I suppose so.

Otherwise, sorry I didn't delve too much into fights like Death vs Ryko/Deus and Death vs Flame/Roxas, but I figured it wasn't crucial to delve into detail since everyone knew the outcomes anyway.

It's fine.

And in case anyone was wondering, I'll flash to the start of the fight of DEF vs Life in Part 3. Since you guys were probably wondering what happened to Crab, Aka and Andex.

I was wondering about Crab. I completely forgot about the other two. >_>

So uh...good? Ding ding ding.

Bad?

Meh?

There wew go. My comments are in bold.

Chapter 35, Part 1: Cortez vs. Brow was awesome and Deus vs. Creator was funny, especially with death interfering and showing himself

I was close, I was thinking that Death was close to Flandre, more or less adding a V to the name gave me my guess

Part 2: Flashbacks are long but good, Then I saw where Flandre was for the last 2 chapters, then Death/Alurius turned out to be Ninjew...

So you're saying Alurius got reborn as Ninjew? Didn't see that coming

Repped you all for the fun feedback, I'll do that for any other commenters too.

And yup, Alurius pretty much became Ninjew.

If you saw Ninjew's appearance in his bio, he has a red mohawk and some piercings.

The actual Ninjew said he didn't think the picture fit him, so I incorporated that into DEF with him not having a choice in changing his look =P

I have just one question: How is Flandre/Ryko supposed to make Creator and Deus work together (implying that is even possible in either reality) when they just tried to kill each other?

I'll Be happy to abridge that part

Flandre: *Wakes up Deus and Creator*

Deus and Creator: "What the hell do you want Flandre! we're busy trying to kill each other in our fcking dreams!"

Flandre: *Shows plans* "Hai Guize can we disable bom-omb nao?"

Deus: "Hah! you were wrong Creator, I told you Flandre will get them!"

Creator: Whatever tard, Lets go help Flandre disable that bomb and kill off the rest of life's hope so we can get back to our pointless battle that the black cloaked fruitcake decided to interrupt"

[spoiler=Trial and Error Part 2]

Trial and Error: Part 2

Chris gasped, taking a step back from the machine. “R-Rosa?”

“Yep. You wanted to bring her back, it seems. You told me to have it ready by today, or you’d attack my family.”

“I-I did what?” Chris asked.

“Just kidding,” Deus said with a smirk. “But I’m glad you’re here now. Just press that green button, and the process will start automatically.”

Chris looked at the button, then glanced inside the chamber.

Rosa…

He closed his eyes, and turned to Deus. “Deus, can I think about this later?”

“Well sure, but why? I mean, I would think you want to bang her as soon as possible. Don’t worry, she won’t turn into a zombie. Probably,” he added at the end with a snicker.

“Well, you see…I’ve got caught up in some trouble. Do you remember if I was acting weird when I came here?”

“Oh, aside from barfing on my front step, and singing the national anthem of Paraguay with your shirt off?”

“…I know the national anthem of Paraguay?”

“Apparently.”

“A-anyways, I was obviously drunk beyond my mind. Did I mention going anywhere after this?”

“You actually did. You said you were going to find a hot teenage woman and peek on her, to live life as a bachelor while you still could.”

“…I said that? Seriously?”

“Yep. It seems you’ve got quite a dirty head on your shoulders,” Deus said, grinning.

Chris sighed. “Alright, I’ll come back later. For now, thanks though. I may actually be getting to the bottom of this…”

Chris left Deus’ house, his mind running at full-steam.

I already went to Clair’s house…so I don’t think there are any clues there. And it seems pretty obvious I…but could I have done that? No…not even if I was drunk, right? I wouldn’t peep on Clair. That’s right, there’s also the problem of what Kari’s picture was doing in my room. I have to find out why it was there, before anything else…

With that thought in mind, he headed for his house. Once he got there, he opened the door, and was about to head toward his room, when he noticed the picture on the floor. He picked it up, and saw Kari smiling in the picture. There was a guy slightly younger than her, with dark blue hair, and his arms around her.

“Who…is that guy?” Chris muttered. “Well…he was with Kari. Should I ask one of the Shitoges? They’ll probably know who he is…eh, nothing to lose. Why not?”

Chris knocked on the large brown door, somewhat shyly. He held the picture somewhat tightly with his left hand, afraid it might fall, and he’d lose it. Which would no doubt make this already awkward experience all the more awkward. He couldn’t very well knock on Kari’s door, not knowing for sure whether he was blame-less of the accusation of having masturbated to her picture, with no reason to show.

“Who is it?” came a voice from behind the door.

“It’s…uh, me, Chris.”

A female with large blue eyes opened the door. Her blue hair had grown to a bit below her shoulders in the time Chris hadn’t seen her.

“You! Give it back!”

“Hi Aqua, I- wait, what?”

“You heard me! Why in the world did you steal Kari’s phone?”

“I did…what?”

“Don’t try and lie, dude! You snuck into our house when we were all out, and left before anyone came back. Kari had left her phone that day, and you took it!”

“Oh…crap. Aqua…I’m sorry. I was seriously drunk last night. I have no idea what happened. I might really have stolen her phone, and I am so sorry. I caused other problems. But that’s why I’m trying to get to the bottom of all this.”

Aqua stared at him for a few moments, then crossed her arm. “Alright, so what did you come here for? Obviously it wasn’t to return the phone, seeing as you don’t remember even stealing it.”

Chris held the photo up. “I want to know who this guy in the picture is.”

“…That picture…where did you get it?”

“Uh…I found it right at the entrance to my house. Why?”

“That’s Jay…He’s our brother.”

Chris blinked. “For…for real? This is your brother? Where is he? I’ve never seen him.”

“He…lives in Japan. This was taken last time he came here on vacations to Yugo. A few years ago. He promised he’d come sometime this year too, but…we haven’t heard from him.”

“Huh…is that right? Well, thanks. I don’t think it helps much, but it was still pretty surprising to hear you have a brother,” Chris said with a small chuckle. “Well, I’m going to look in my house for Kari’s cell phone, and-”

Just then, they heard a dog bark. They turned, to see Andex speeding down the street with something in a pouch around his neck. He approached Chris and Aqua, then sat at Chris’ feet. Chris kneeled in front of him, and the dog pawed the pouch around his neck. Chris slowly took hold of it, curious. When Andex put up no resistance, he slid it off from around the dog’s neck, and spread the opening. He reached inside and pulled out a silver phone with blue streaks.

“That’s Kari’s phone!” Aqua exclaimed.

“Huh? It is?” Chris asked. “How did…Andex get hold of it?”

Suddenly, the phone rang, giving Chris a small startle. He pressed the “Call” button, and set it to loudspeaker, then handed the phone to Aqua.

“Hello, who am I speaking to?” Aqua asked.

“Wow,” a voice said from the loudspeaker, with a chuckle. “A few years pass, and you forget your own brother’s voice?”

Aqua stood there for a moment, just staring at the phone. Then, she snapped to her senses.

“Jay? Is that you?” she asked, her eyes seeming to shine.

“The only and only, sis. Hey, listen, did your boyfriend give you my message?””

“Uh…boyfriend? I’m married, does that count? But Joseph didn’t give me any message…”

“Joseph? No, no, I meant that Chris dude. He said he was your boyfriend. Uh…if you’re married, that can’t be right. What’s going on here? I’m confused.”

Aqua glared at Chris again. “So am I…”

Chris sighed. “Like…like I said, I was super drunk. Nothing I did should be taken seriously yesterday night...”

“Oh, is he with you?” Jay asked.

“Yeah, and you’re on loudspeaker, so he can hear you too. But he told me he was too drunk to remember anything from last night,” Aqua said.

“That’s right, I swear, I don’t remember anything I did.”

“Oh…well I can believe that, honestly. But anyway, I called Kari yesterday to tell her I was coming to Yugo for a visit soon.”

“Um…if you don’t mind, when exactly was it that you called?” Chris asked.

“I think…around eight-thirty at night. I was busy the entire day. Why?”

“I’m trying to find out as much about what I did as possible. And…did I say where I was going before we ended the call?”

“Um, no. The call was broken randomly. You were telling me about one of your friends, when you suddenly stopped, and I could hear a lot of noise. I could guess it was running, since I faintly heard you panting.”

“Running? Why was I…?”

“Chris,” Aqua said, then turned the phone so the back was facing Chris. “Look at this.”

On the back of the phone was a tiny note saying “Yugo Center of Mods: Item confiscated on April 15th.”

“This phone was confiscated by the Mods? Man, what the f*ck did I do last night…?” Chris muttered with a sigh.

“I wouldn’t guess something as simple as drunk driving?” Jay guessed, laughing. “Anyway, it DOES seem like you got yourself into quite a mess. Good luck. And Aqua…I’ll be going now, have some stuff to take care of. Oh, and tell the others I’ll be coming to visit on the 30th of this month, alright?”

“Alright. Bye Jay, I love you!” Aqua said, smiling.

“Love you too, sis. Bye,” Jay said chuckling, and then his voice was gone.

“So…what, you’re going to check out the Mods Center now?”

Chris rubbed the back of his head. “Yep, I kind of have to. Man, this has been one big mess.”

“Right then…well, good luck. Though you should thank Andex. I have really no idea how he got your phone back if it was confiscated. I mean, he’d have to pay a fine, right?”

“You know, I think you’re right. How in the world did he…?” Chris muttered.

“Well, I’ll leave you to your thoughts. Bye-bye,” Aqua said with a giggle, and went back into the house with a wave.

When the door closed, Chris looked at it, then at Andex.

“Andex…how did you…?”

Andex barked, then left with a trot. Chris could swear he saw the dog grin at him as he passed.

“So…a talk with some Mods, huh…?”

Chris timidly pushed the rotating door, and entered the large grey building. Unmistakable in magnitude, it was the center of the Mods’ work. And it was only completed a few months ago. He approached the receptionist.

“Hello sir, how may I help you?” she said, painting her nails.

“I would…like to talk to a Mod.”

“Do you have an appointment?”

“Um…I don’t. But I really need to talk to one! Just tell them Chris Denver wants to talk to them.”

The receptionist looked up from her nails for the first time since Chris began talking to her, and her eyes widened.

“Chris Denver! You’re Chris Denver!”

“The one and only,” Chris said, blushing slightly.

The lady pressed a button on her desk, and lowered her hear toward a small microphone.

“Sir, are you free? Chris Denver wants to talk to you.”

“Send him over,” a voice answered.

“Yes,” she said, the turned back to Chris. “Well, Mr. Denver, you’re in luck. Just go straight down the hall, third door to the right. Room 106”

Chris nodded. “Thanks!”

He followed her directions, and arrived at Room 106. He gulped, and knocked. Quite weakly, at first, then more strongly the second time.

“Come in,” a voice muttered from inside.

Chris stepped into the room. There were plenty of medals and trophies around the room in shelves. The walls were a calming shade of blue. Behind a large wooden desk sat Roxas.

“What can I help you with, Chris Denver?” he asked, his hands pressed together.

“Um…I was sort of…really freaking drunk last night, and I can’t remember anything. Apparently my cell phone was confiscated?”

“Ah, that’s right. One of my men told me. You were drunk last night, as you say. You were also driving a car, and talking on the phone. You were lucky no one was harmed. Except for the cop you punched on the face.”

“I did…what? Oh…my god,” Chris said, bowing slightly. “I am so, so sorry.”

Roxas raised his hand. “No worries, that’s what youth is for, right? That said, though, you should really be more careful of how much you drink next time.”

Chris nodded. “Right…”

“Also…you have a really smart dog. Most dogs can’t retrieve their owners’ cell phones from here, let alone know to pay the fine. He just came in here with a wallet, and…”

“Wait, a wallet? Whose?”

“I don’t know, there was no name or identity of any sort. Knowing that dog, he probably took them out,” Roxas added with a chuckle.

“Huh…say, do you know where I went after this?” Chris asked.

“It was already nine, and you were still drunk, so I had someone escort you home. Why?”

“Just wondering. Thank you very much for your attention.”

“No problem. Besides, who would deny an audience with one of the heroes who defeated Life?”

Chris nodded. “Thank you.”

With that, he left for his house. It was already getting dark. And he wouldn’t want to leave any loose ends for tomorrow. If there was a possibility of finding the key to tomorrow’s case today, he would search for it.

He entered his house, and headed towards his room, carefully looking out for any clues. He opened the door to his room and immediately saw that his computer was turned on.

“What in the world? Did I leave it on yesterday or something?”

He approached it, planning to shut it off, but stopped when he saw the recording program on. He clicked on the icon in the toolbar, and it filled the screen. He saw there was a recording around 4 hours long from yesterday at nine twenty at night.

“This…did I record myself or something?” he muttered, then clicked the “Play” button.

The video started with Chris looking at the computer screen. His eyes were droopy, and made it obvious he had been drinking. He wore a silly grin, and stepped back from the camera. Then began to beat on his chest and make gorilla noises. Suddenly, something caught his eye, and he stooped to pick it up. When he came back into camera view, he was holding a Naruto doll.

“Where did I get that…?” Chris muttered.

The Chris in the recording began to talk with the doll. He then got angry, and started shouting at the doll. It fell over, and suddenly the recording Chris began to sob. Nonsense such as this continued for a bit, and Chris was about to give up on finding anything useful, when right then and there, recording Chris dropped the plastic plates he was holding as he tried to juggle them. His eyes seemed slightly less hazy for a moment.

“Kari…” he muttered.

He turned around, and went to get something on the bed, but his toe his the bed’s leg. He fell to the ground and began to moan for a while.

“Wait…so THAT’S what D.L. was talking about! And this was at…”

He looked at the bottom right corner of the video’s screen.

“Ten fifteen! And if it was after ten...that means I’m innocent! Kind of. I mean, this doesn’t prove I didn’t peep on Clair…just that it wasn’t from nine to ten. But this IS a valid alibi, I think, so now I can rest easy knowing I’m just going to try and find the truth for my own personal closure.”

“Done talking to yourself?” a voice said from the door.

Chris turned to see D.L. standing by the door.

“D.L, I’m glad you came! I can finally explain to you what happened last night, including the part with Kari. It was all a misunderstanding.”

“I know,” D.L. said, slouching on the door. “Aqua called to tell me that. So I came to say sorry for accusing you. And also…”

He tossed a disk case at Chris, who almost let it drop to the ground before catching it.

“Careful with that. It’s footage from the security camera near Clair’s house.”

“Wait…last night’s footage?” Chris asked.

“Oh, no, footage from last week that I brought for you to see for no particular reason,” D.L. said, rolling his eyes.

“T-this is just what I wanted! Where did you get this?”

“Well, after I found out you didn’t do anything perverted regarding Kari, I really had no reason to not help you in the Clair case. So I went to search for any way to prove you innocent.”

“Thanks man. Now all of this is-” Chris began, then remember what happened at Deus’ house. “Crap…”

“What’s up?” D.L. asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Sorry, I’ll be back soon. I have to go to Deus’ house!” Chris answered, grabbing his jacket.

“Why?”

As Chris was running out the door he yelled. “I’m going to see if I’ll revive Rosa!”

“…What?”

Chris’ hand hovered over the button.

“If I click this, she WILL come back to life, right?”

“Is it really that hard to comprehend? Click the button, she revives. There’s no scientific formula or whatever involved in pushing a button.”

Chris took a deep breath, and closed his eyes. In his head began playing, one after the other, times of him and Rosa. The day he asked Rosa to be his girlfriend. The times they laughed, the times they fought. The time she dressed up as Niashi. Meeting Rosa’s father, and fighting her brother. Then the last one; the day Rosa died in his arms. How serene she looked, just lying there as if asleep. How endless tears were streaming down his face. Her last words…

He snapped back to reality, and touched his face to find that tears were running down his cheek.

“Rosa…” he whispered.

“So, are you going to stop being a pussy and press the damn button already?” Deus asked, grinning.

Chris gulped, wiping his eyes. Then, he stood there silently for a few moments.

“I…can’t,” Chris said, finally. “I loved Rosa…and still do. The moments with her were probably the best of my life. She was the first girl to like me…”

He took another breath, and opened his eyes, which were no longer teary, then smiled.

“Yet…it wouldn’t seem right to bring her back. Her time has already come…and besides… I know we’ll meet again someday, so I’m just waiting for my own time.”

Deus snickered. “You’re just afraid she’ll turn into a zombie and eat your brains, huh?”

“…Yeah, that too,” Chris admitted, looking away.

“Heheh, well, good luck on your trial tomorrow.”

Chris grinned. “Thanks Deus. And thanks for building this machine for me…even if I didn’t use it.”

“Oh, no problem. Not at all. Because I can think of quite a few ways to use it for my OWN purposes,” Deus said, chuckling deviously.

Chris stretched his arms as he walked out of the courtroom with D.L. at his side. The sun was brightly shining, beginning its descent into the horizon.

“Ah, it feels so good to be innocent,” Chris said.

“I bet. So why do you reckon Black, Cherry, and Clair are walking towards us?” D.L. asked.

Chris raised an eyebrow and looked forward. Indeed, Black, Cherry, and Clair were blocking their path. Once D.L. and Chris got closer, Cherry crossed her arms.

“Well,” she said. “Liking using pink wigs to pretend to be other people?”

Clair put her hands on her hips. “Or how about kissing people when they think you’re their best friend?”

“Explain,” Black said, cracking his knuckles. “Now.”

“U-um…you see…there’s a good explanation for everything…” Chris said, backing away.

“Yeah, and the explanation for this is that you’re not a peeping tom, you’re an identity thief!” Cherry exclaimed, as she, Black, and Clair began chasing Chris.

“N-no! Wait!” Chris exclaimed, running away. “T-this was supposed to be a happy ending!”

After all four of them were far gone, D.L. sighed. “Darn, and I was going to invite him to play NegamanX... Oh well, I guess I’ll go play with Deus. I wonder what he’s been up to lately, haven‘t seen the guy in ages.”

With that, he took one last look at the corner that Chris had turned in his attempt to lose his three pursuers, and began walking away, towards Deus’ house. The same person who, at this moment, was experimenting with his new machine, built at the request of a friend just the night before…

:3

[spoiler=For after the reading]

A tiny explanation on Andx's role in this.

Andex got the wallet from the random dude to pay the fine for the confiscated phone, though that was pretty obvious.

Andex put the Kari picture in Chris' room in the interval between Chris leaving the room, and D.L. finding the picture. He did this to get D.L. to think Chris had done something, so he would help Chris later, when he was proved innocent on that aspect.

Andex put the picture of Kari and Jay behind the front door of Chris' house. Obviously so Chris would go to Aqua's house to find out about Jay.

Basically, Andex was the real hero in this story :3
