Well, actually I have an AP English exam next week and a Psychology final at the end of the month...and a final project for anatomy.

But those don't count come June.

So early dismissal=more time for DEF at start of summer.

I think this fic will end around the start of summer, or at least I hope that's how it goes down.

[spoiler=A Day in the Absolute Powerforce]

Black blinked. “Do what now, Aneki?”

 

The pink haired girl raised her head from her desk, and looked at her subordinate. “I said I am tired, so go check up on the Powerforce for me. You know, see what Arm is doing in his workshop, what Ice and Nex are doing, where Andex is-“

 

Black started to question why his dog was important, but Cherry merely raised a finger. “You know I love him to death. Any who, you also need to check up on Clair, see what trouble Blind has gotten himself into, find Caeda and Dane, and… get me dinner. Thanks, Otouto!” Her head hit the desk, and she was out. ”She DOES realize I have other stuff to do, right? I can’t just do her jobs all day. Lazy woman…”

Black groaned as he turned to leave the office, and head to the other parts of the faction’s building.

 

The Absolute Powerforce, a place based on Jack Atlas’ monster’s attack, yet it was truly a house of randomness. It was like a little slice of Japan, right there in Yugo City. How it was still functioning, Black would never know. Cherry was such a lazy leader, always sleeping, eating, or somehow running about like a chicken with her neck cut off. It often seemed like Black was the one that was dealing with the paperwork, in his leader’s stead.

 

With a sigh, Black headed down to the first floor, to check up on everyone he had been assigned to, from the bottom up.

“Hey, Arm!” Black called, knocking on the door leading to his so-called ‘experimental laboratory’. Around the fifth time he called, the door slid open.

 

“Yes?” The eccentric man asked. Black took time to note his odd get-up for the day. He wore a lab coat, and he had turned his hair white, making him look much older than he was. He had also donned a large, fake white beard, and stuffed a pillow into his shirt.

 

“… Arm, why are y-“ Black began before Arm interrupted him. “Because Dr. Light is baws. That, and I am building robots! Who better to do science involving robots, mah boi? Follow me, and be blinded, BY SCIENCE!” Arm rushed back into the lab, Black in tow.

 

“Alright, let’s start with this.” Arm waved his arm towards a large mechanical skeleton of a dragon. “You should recognize the structure, right?” Looking upon the creation, Black saw it resembled Red Dragon Archfiend, without skin. It was the basic structure, and nothing more. AS he looked at it, Arm carried on. “I think I’ll make it have an attack called Absolute Power Cake!”

 

Black flinched a little, and looked over. “Absolute Power… Cake? Why on earth is that a good idea? IF it is for fighting, cake is just a nuisance. Make it do something where its claw catches on fire, and it just mauls everything.”

 

The Dr. Light cosplayer thought it over, and quickly called out “CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!” He scampered over to his desk, and jotted down what had been suggested, in all caps, before returning. “So, I assume you are here in Cherry’s place today?”

 

“Yep. Go figure. She’s sleeping on her desk.” Arm laughed, before handing Black a sheet of paper. “Now, Red Dragon Archfiend is NOT the only one in the works… As such, I need more money. A LOT more money.”

 

Black stared at the bill Arm had handed him. “Wh-what is this?! This is outrageous!” Black yelled in shock. “Where are we gonna come up with this kind of money?!”

 

“Well, if you don’t come up with the money… Deal with it.” He said, randomly putting on a pair of sunglasses. He quickly removed them and continued. “Seriously, though, how are we going to ROW ROW FIYAH FLOWAH?” Arm made a rowing motion, and Black turned to walk out. “WAIT! BLACK! I know how to get the money! DO NOT BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! BELIEVE IN THE ME WHO BELIEVES IN THE YOU WHO BELIEVES IN THE ONE PIECE!”

 

Black stared at the scientist for a moment, in awkward silence, before hurrying out to go check on everyone else. Arm stood there, in shock, not done with his speech. He walked over to his desk and pulled out a hideous mask with tears on it. Placing it on his face, he screamed “FOREVER ALONE!” to no one in particular.

Black had briefly checked on Nex and Ice, as staying with them too long would only settle in a dispute of some sort, and he had no desire for such a thing. They were doing fine, and he took that down in his report. He noticed the next thing on his list was to find his dog, which was roaming somewhere around the building.

 

”Eeeh, he can’t get in that much trouble. I’ll just find him later.” With that in mind, Black moved down the list once more. ”Aha, Clair. Perfect timing.” Black thought, seeing the green haired girl walking down the hallway. “Hey, Clair!” Black called, running after her.

 

Clair turned around with a smile. “Hey Black. What’s up?” The two walked down the hallway, talking about anything from why Black was running around to Andex. As the two turned a corner, a bark was heard, and Andex pounced on Clair, licking her face while wagging his tail. The girl beneath was giggling, while trying to push the dog off.

 

“Andex, off!” Black commanded the dog, who quickly got off of Clair, and sat on his haunches. Somehow, a pipe blowing bubbles had suddenly appeared in the dog’s mouth, yet Black did not even flinch. “There you are. Well, that’s two things off my list for the price of one.” Black jotted down a few notes, before turning to Clair. “Mind taking him to Aneki for me?”

 

“Sure!” Came the girl’s reply with a smile. “Come on, Andex, I’ll get you a bone on the way.” The dog happily yipped, and walked alongside her towards the elevator. ”Alright, then. Next up is… Blind. This should be easy.”

Black knocked on Blind’s door. “Hey, can I come in?” He heard a muffled yes through the door, and walked in to see his Blind friend reading a Braille book titled Eyeshield 21. “Aaah, I’ve heard of that series.” Black said, sitting next to his friend. “I didn’t know they made Braille adaptations of manga?”

 

“Yup, they do.” Blind said, feeling the words. “I’m glad they do, too. I’m loving this to death.” He continued to read the book with his hands as he spoke. “I mean, who knew FOOTBALL could be this interesting? I didn’t think it could be.”

 

Black laughed. “Wow, that is nothing I would have ever pinned, either. So, you’re doing alright in here?” He asked, holding his checklist.

 

“Yup” came the reply, “Just reading and doing whatever else I can. Sorry that I can’t help out any.”

 

“No, don’t worry, it’s fine.” Black reassured his blind friend. “We’re just glad to be able to help, seeing as you lost your eyesight at all. As usual, just press the button if you need help.”

 

“Alright. Thanks, Black. Now, if you don’t mind, I’m going to focus on my reading.”

Black walked into the miniature wing of the building where Dane and Caeda, the siblings in the Powerforce, stayed. It was made like a small flat for the two of them to stay in, after all the business with Life had started. Black rang the doorbell for the apartment, and Dane was at the door within a minute.

 

“Hey,Black.” Dane said, simply. “Here to see my sister, I take it?” The Powerforce’s ‘salesman’ leaned against the doorframe as Black explained why he was there. “Aah, so this is Cherry’s doing. Well, let her know the whole apartment is fine, and nothing has really been an issue.” He motioned for Black to come inside, and he was not about to ignore hospitality.

 

“Black, I need to talk to you about Caeda.” He said when Black entered. He had been dreading what Dane was going to have on the matter, and gulped. “I am glad for it. She needed someone like you. But, if you so much as harm a hair on your head, I will do unspeakable things to you, do you understand?” Dane had taken on the look of a stern parent to Black, who tried to explain he would never hurt her. “Good.” Dane shook Black’s hand, and pushed him out the door. “She is not here at the moment. Oh, and tell Cherry Isaid that everything Is absolutely fine, and not to worry.”

 

Black stood in the hallway that lead to the apartment, and exhaled, being glad for the moment ending. ”Now… Where could Caeda be?” he wondered before wandering off to find her.

Black stepped out into the garden courtyard about an hour later, looking to take a break. He had been going non-stop from the moment Cherry told him what he had to do until now. ”Probably sleeping, eating, or playing with Andex…” Black thought as he walked past a cherry tree, headed for the fountain at the center. He loved to sit there, on a nearby bench, and look at the fountain as he thought about life. As he arrived, he noticed a spot of blue over the back of the bench.

 

Black grinned, and walked up behind the girl sitting there, and whispered into her ear “Boo.” Caeda shot out of the bench, and turned around, bug eyed.

 

“BLACK!” she yelled, and punched him in the shoulder. “Don’t scare me like that!” She sat back down, and Black chuckled, taking a spot next to her.

 

“Sorry about that, sweetie, I just couldn’t resist.” He hugged her, and she reciprocated. “So, why are you sitting out here, alone?”

 

Caeda sighed before speaking. “I don’t know, Black, I just like to have time on my own.” She looked at the fountain, seemingly in thought.

 

“Well, would you like me to go?”

“No, I don’t want you to go… I just wonder… Am I really someone that belongs here, Black? I’m not like Cherry, or Ice, or Clair, or Dane. I don’t fit in…” She hugged him, never removing her eyes from the fountain.

 

“Caeda, you DO fit in. I love you, and if you did not fit in, we would have never gotten close enough.”

 

“Yeah, but…” Caeda began, before Black shushed her, quietly, and continued.

 

“You are my rose. I love you with all of my heart. Trust me, I’m not lying. Everyone loves you here. Just look around, and you’ll see it.”

 

The blue haired girl sat quietly, still holding Black, before tightening her grip, and giving him a quick kiss. “I love you Black… Thank you…”

 

Black held her tight to match her hold. “And I love you, and I thank you. Never doubt that, and never feel like you do not belong, because you do.”

 

“… Alright, Black.” The two kissed once more, before the girl stood up. “I-it’s almost time for dinner, and I need to get dressed. I’ll see you in about an hour, my love.” She said, before running out of the garden.

 

Black smiled to himself, considering himself the most blessed man alive.

“Alright, Aneki, wake up!” Black called through the door to Cherry’s office, almost an hour after he had been in the garden. He kicked the door open, while carrying a lidded plate into the room. “Since you did not wish to do anything, and opted to eat dinner up here again, here is your meal.” He said to the half-asleep woman. She nodded slightly, but Black figured the smell of the food would have her awake in no time.

 

Black pulled the lid off of the steak and potatoes, and carried it out with him. “Bon appétit.” He had not even noticed Andex was in the room, because the dog had been under Cherry’s desk. The smell of food roused the dog, who was quickly at the plate. He ate the potatoes in one gulp, and bit down on the steak, just as Cherry finished waking up.

 

“Wha- ANDEX! NO!” the dog sprinted out of the room with the steak in his mouth, and an incensed Cherry ran after. “DAMMIT, DOG, GIVE ME MY STEAK!” Andex made a muffled bark, before running into an elevator right as it was shutting. He could hear Cherry’s cries of defeat from outside, and pressed his nose to the lowest button. He had not even taken a bite of the steak yet.

 

Cherry hung her head in defeat, leaning against the eleveator the dog had escaped into. ”Guess I actually have to GO to dinner tonight…” she thought with a sigh. She headed back to her office in a hurry, and grabbed a jacket, before returning to the elevators.

At dinner, a PROTO unit finished serving the meals it had prepared. Creator had brought it with him in the brief time he had stayed there for a little while, and left it as a gift. Black sat alongside Caeda and Clair as he ate his meal. Clair had a smile on her face the whole time, and it perplexed Black. There was something wicked about the smile. When he heard Andex bark, and turned to see the dog, he knew exactly what it was.

 

Andex ran right up to Clair, before curling up at her feet to eat his stolen steak. “Good boy, Andex!” She said with glee. She pet the dog, who vocalized his gratitude, before returning to her meal.

 

A few minutes later, Cherry burst into the Powerforce dining hall, looking annoyed. “Where is the dog? I’m going to kill him.”

 

“Don’t be silly!” Clair called to her best friend, while patting the seat next to her. “Come on and eat.” Cherry complied, annoyed at the dog. Cherry and the dog had a slight staring contest as Andex happily munched on his steak. He let go of it for a moment, and called out "OWWWUOWWOWOWOOWWOW", which Black translated to mean 'I love you', to Cherry. She continued to glare at him until the PROTO unit got a meal for Cherry, the night was relatively uneventful, with the exception of Andex also absconding with one of Clair’s high heels that Cherry had thrown at him.

 

Black looked upon the scene with a smile, and with Caeda is his arms. He kissed her, before stating his mind. ”Yup, just another day in the Powerforce. A wonderful, wacky day.”
