What, you have, I don't know, 30+ years to find another one? I mean, I've lost a close friend who committed suicide after I even predicted it would happen. Did I do anything? No. BTW, he would be in 7th grade this year. Still feel guilty. >.> Was I in despair? No. Was I shocked and temporarily in denial? Yes. You wouldn't be caught in despair until a lot later. At first you'd be too shocked to recognize anything. You got the denial, but the shock of the death was not emphasized enough to me.

I know, I shouldn't be criticizing on this because nobody I loved ever returned the feelings and nobody I knew died in my arms but it makes no sense. You generally don't act that way if somebody close to you died.

First thing that comes when you return to your senses the rush of memories of the person you lost! That's where the despair comes from.

In my experience, when my cousins died, I fell into depression. I was reatively close to them.

 

Oh, and having someone whom I loved tell me that she never wanted to talk to me again? That was the worst feeling I've EVER had.

Black, I'm not saying there's no depression. Death of people close to you is the sting that never goes away...

I'm saying the first reaction is tempoarary denial, then shock, then reminiscence creating despair which all part of the depression, despair being the last part.

My complaint is that the despair came too early.

And a similar thing happened to me, except she didn't exactly tell me. She kinda made me figure it out on my own.

I hear what you're saying with the 5 stages of grief and all, but it's not universally applicable. Well, maybe it is, but plenty of people didn't follow it.

I just put myself in the situation and wrote how I thought I'd react.

And if someone killed your mom or something like that in front of you, then waking up when the bad guy's long gone so all you can do is grieve with her as she dies a horrible death in front of you, you're going to cry (hopefully).

You're going to be sad.

You're going to be angry.

And...well everyone reacts differently.

You'd be in a state of shock and I'd go into a tearful rage hopelessly trying to prevent the inevitable.

It makes perfect sense.

Going with your scenario, what would your first thought be?

This is the way I normally see reactions to stuff like this:

"What?"

"No way..."

Anything along the lines of disbelief or denial normally comes first.

Afterwards comes,

"I can't believe..."

"Why did...?"

Well...I guess when Chris first saw her, he was like, "No no no no no come on, no no no no"

Then as they talked, I guess there were conflicting thoughts with "Why is this happening?" and "This isn't fair", so Chris felt both he and she were cheated while he took out his anger and frustration on Ninjew.

I still think his reaction wasn't unnatural or not making sense though, since people handle grief in different ways.

But I don't get what your point is about Chris being seventeen

To me, it seems unlikely that you can find true love when you first meet somebody after a few months, but then it occured to me,

1. I'm not 17, so I wouldn't know.

2. You're an outlier, anyway. Remember when you said to me you would do a girl nearby in the diner that was 25+?So I retracted making the argument

But my issue was a time issue in which time wasn't specified, so I retract my complaint.

Well, it was the heat of the moment, so both of their emotions got worked up and expressed how they felt.

As for their actual feelings, I'd agree that neither of them would know what true love is yet.

But boyfriends and girlfriends in high school, when they date each other for a while, they grow to love each other.

I think they can feel love, but don't completely understand it until they devote their lives to each other and such. So married couples understand true love because they know each other inside and out and love every part of them.

Basically, I wouldn't say Chris and Rosa shared true love, but they shared the love that fell within the scope of their understanding.

 

I dunno man, love's weird.

Just look at El's OOCness and DL's devotion to Kari.

Let me put it this way, your ending where Rosa dies is one of the few times I've actually felt sorry for a character losing someone. Most times it is because the guy did something stupid and got the chick killed, but you, you just couldn't get there in time.

 

You actually wrote a romantic that somewhat affected me. Be proud and don't be swayed by other arguments.
