From the look of the E3 model, the 3DS will be released in Red, Blue, and Black. The model also had a 3D top screen, 3D slider, Slide pad, Home button, Headphone jack, 3 Cameras, Wi-Fi, and, of course, the Touch screen.

The 3DS system is 5.0" wide by 0.8" tall. The system will also be able to play movies on the go!
Most people know that when you're watching a 3D movie and wearing those dorky glasses, a different image is being sent to each eye; your brain mashes these two images together to create a composite 3D image. You may not know that a 3D display incorporates an overlay that is placed in front of the LCD. This is called a parallax barrier and it polarizes the glasses. Sharp's parallax barrier is a little different for it is actually a 'switching LCD' that allows for both 2D and 3D imaging without the need for special glasses or goggles. When this switching LCD is switched off, the TFT-LCD displays 2D imaging as normal, but when the parallax barrier is switched on, it controls the way light leaves the display, meaning different patterns of light reach the left and right eye. Other rumors suggest the device will pack a DualShock-esque vibration-feedback system and something called 3D control sticks, whatever they are.

Here is a list of someof the best games in my opinion! Phantom Roxas
They'll announce the price and release date on the 29th of this month. There will also be some minor tweaks to the design seen at E3.
Dark
Glad you made this thread. One thing I'm skeptical about is how 3D will acually revolutionize gameplay. I have no doubts that the games are amazing and the graphics are kick-ass, but I don't want the games (Mario Kart 3DS, for example) to be the same as they were on earlier consoles. Either way, I will be getting this console. The only recent-handheld I have is the DSPhat, and that's falling apart quickly. And I refuse to buy a DSi. 3d pix r win

You're controlling a cat with a pogo stick, and you have to hop through platforms to reach the end. Without 3D on, all the platforms seem the same distance. But with the 3D on, you can see how far each platform is, and devise a safe route.

That's how our current depth perception works in video games. If they don't revolutionize gameplay using 3D, the 3DS is just another handheld console in the DS line, with one extra perk. I mean, it beats the PSP any day of the week, but it really is just a waste of Nintendo's time if they make the 3DS that doesn't do much more than the DSi. Kiyo
Well, I didn't see it myself, so I couldn't word that very well :/ Maybe in person it would make more sense why the 3D depth helps.
Dark
I guess. One good example is during the Kid Icarus trailer at E3, they showed Pit flying through a bunch of lasers. That seems really impossible in normal, 2D view, since depth perception is crap with something like lasers. But with 3D, you can see where the lasers are EXACTLY aiming in an xyz plane, and you can navigate around them. But games can't do that all the time, and I doubt they can even do it some of the time. If there are only a few things that require 3D, what's the point? Might as well buy a DSi.
Tentacruel
Because Nintendo will force us to buy it by releasing Pokemon Gen VI only for the 3DS.

The main marketed feature was the camera, but how many DSi-exclusive games actually used it? Barely any. The 3DS also has the analog stick, gyrometer, and accelerometer. Seeing how many games made use of the DS's controls in a unique way, I can see a ton of games using these features in cool ways. Heck, I'd buy it just if the new feature was analog
Dark
Yeah, valid point. I just think if they are going to make a huge update like 3D graphics (camera was really basic, like phones), they might as well devote a good amount of time to making some games work really well with its new capabilities.
