This is an idea I came up with for a potentially interesting and very tricky type of Deck style based on a new monster sub-type.

Credit goes to Soto for the amazing template recolor work

Illusion: [This card remains Face Down unless flipped by Card Effect. If switched or summoned into Attack position, the player may reveal this card to place it in Face Down, Attack Position. During Main Phase 2, move this card to a different Card Zone(If possible). This Card cannot attack while in a Spell or Trap Card Zone(Unless said otherwise in card effect). When this card engages in battle, it is revealed to the opponent during the Battle Phase if it is Face Down. If this card is Face Up during the Player's End Phase, they may flip it Face Down in it's current position.]

While this card is equipped with an Illusion-Type Monster, summon 1 Illusion Token during your End Phase in Defense Position(Illusion 1 Star 0/0). While Requiem of Illusion is active, Illusion-Type Monsters in a Spell or Trap Card Zone can during the Battle Phase, reveal themselves to increase the ATK and DEF of an Illusion-Type Monster on the field by an amount equal to their ATK and DEF during the Damage Step. If an Illusion-Type Monster destroys an opponent's Monster as a result of battle while not being sent back to the Deck via their own effect, that Monster is instead returned to the opponent's Deck and then shuffled.

While this card remains Face Up on the field, you may pay 100 Life points when an Illusion-Type Monster is sent to the Deck due to it's own effect to return that monster to your hand. During your Main Phase 2, you can flip this card Face Down or reveal it to move it to a Different Card Zone. If this card is chosen as the target of an attack or an effect that target's a Face Down Monster while in the Monster Card Zone, reveal this card. If an attack is declared on this card while it's in a Monster Card Zone, reveal this card. The monster attacking this card is now moved into your opponent's Spell or Trap Card Zone(If full, opponent must discard 1 card in their Spell or Trap Card Zone to make room for this card) in Face Up position and treated only as a Monster Card. As long as that monster remains in their Spell or Trap Card Zone, During each of their Standby Phases, your opponent must shuffle their Deck and then send the top card from their Deck to the Graveyard. If the Monster is flipped face down, it is sent to the opponent's Deck and shuffled. If the Monster is destroyed due to Card Effect, it is instead Special Summoned(Ignoring Summoning Conditions) in Face Up Attack Position. Until the End Phase, that Monsters ATK and DEF is reduced to 0. If a Monster is Special Summoned by this card's effect, search your Deck for 1 "Chains of Mania" and set it Face Down in your Spell and Trap Card Zone.

Select 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field and equip it to this card (this effect can only be used once per turn and you can only equip 1 monster at a time to this card). The ATK and DEF of this card become the same amounts as the monster equipped to this card. This card is treated as all Types of the Monster that is equipped to it. During your 3rd Standby Phase, you may pay 500 Life Points to return this card to one of your Card Zones. ...huh? o.o

I'm confused.

If the card is facedown all the time, how do we know it is *allowed* to be facedown? Surely we can't trust the player in this case not to cheat in some manner, like claiming random effects for the facedown card. "This facedown is an illusion monster. It lets me send cards from my hand to deal 3000 points of damage for each one sent!"

If you can answer this question, I can properly give my impressions. Thanks.

In order to activate it's affect or attack with it, you have to reveal them.

To be honest, it's overcomplicated. Yes, it's creative, but it really doesn't need all this extra stuff. It's also more of a subtype like said before.
Indeed, it's quite complex.

I was trying to come up with a Deck concept that would basically ALWAYS keep your opponent guessing on where to attack or use a card effect on. This Deck's weakness would probably be Nukers as well.

What would a better way to achieve this effect be without excessive complication?

roar of fire is broken...
ur opponent will never be able to play anything until their end phase
combine with lightning vortex and you'll win
or dark hole
Good Set overall
7/10
Roar of Fire is returned to the Deck after it's effect is complete to sort out that dilemma.

Also, the Card's have beed modified slightly to incorporated the New Sub-Type more officially!

These are actually really inventive, and feasable. I'm impressed.

Ok there needs to be a lot of work on complexity issues, balance and overall deck strategy. But the potential here is very good, it's very creative and is a vast improvement on the Assassins set, which is comendable.

Well done Jenofresh. Keep it up please.

Indeed this is true. Complexity is an issue and possibly isn't. It depends on whether you mean they are over complex or just not amateur friendly :)

Balance and strategy I'm still thinking on. I'm actually trying to pitch this general concept to YCM to see if they'd -has lips zipped by Icy-

hehehehh. But yush, I'm definitely interested in what you and others think as far as potential uses, playability, strategy and combos along with improvements, ideas, and support. ^_^

I really like these guys...that ritual dude seems unnecisarily hard to summon, and a bit U'ped for his level.

BTW, what would the win condition be in an Illusion deck? I ask this because I sometimes like to print out cards people create on here, and make decks out of them to use in Duels against friends. So, I might use these guys, but I would need to know how too...

This Type of Deck would primarily be used as a Lockdown/Burn deck. It has a unique type of 'Battle Lockdown' effect that makes it very difficult to attack.

This Deck's Signature specialty I'd say is as a counter deck. Against Brute Force/Beatdown Decks(Generalization) this type of Deck could easily tangle it up.

I say it also could make for a difficult yet effective Swarm style.

Swarm/Lockdown/Burn would be it's Deck types. I haven't completely finished the Illusion series but that's what I think it would works as the best.

As for Lokaeus, he's UP'd and undertech'd because of the Illusion Deck styling, especially if RoIllusion is active(He's also meant to be OP when he's out with those 4 spells at once)

The main Win Condition however would be Lockburn. Locking down your Opponent's Card Zones, the cards in their hand while continuously recycling the Illusion Monsters into your Deck and card burning them as you do so.

I think it would accurately be for the Win Condition to lockdown the Battle Phase by always changing their position, using the spells and traps to lock down their card zones, and use their side effects for burning.

is this the time to redeem myself? yup, i guess it is

spells and traps really depend on what you're aiming for, are you trying to reinforce their weaknesses, or improving their strengths even more? a searcher would probably be a good idea, seeing as most of these effects involve returning to the deck, maybe something like this : "When an "Illusion" monster is returned to the Deck by its own effect, place 1 "Insert Name" Counter on this card, you can remove "insert number" Counters from this card to add 1 "Illusion" monster from your Deck to your hand." i dunno, just a suggestion

hope this actually helped >_<
