This has been done many times before. Idc how many of you support it, it won't work. People supported it the other 100 times.
Sorry, but it just won't work for very long.

As much as our Social Contact has dwindled, I'm going to have to agree with Yankee. We have tried MANY MANY MANY programs like this across YCM in the 2-3yrs we have been here. And it has never worked well on a Social Level, and even on a Moderation Level we have to be delicate.

Your best bet is to PM us directly about serious oversteps rather than reporting and let us plan something out for the current time.

There's too many factors that can make this potentially go wrong.

1) Judgment of experienced members.
Legendary members can take it on by permission.
2) Experienced member : New Member ratio.
Depends on ow you look at it.
3) Respect for their partner.
Again, trust
4) New members who actually willing to enrol.
Notifications at first when they join or just a recommendation.
5) 'Experienced' member who actually enrol.
Again, trust and from an older member who knows well.
I'm sure this can work out in a way that n00bs and older members can get along.
Ill try and fix this..
3) Respect for their partner. The newb doesnt respect his/her partner; they're on their own
...
Yin means respect for BOTH PARTNERS!!!

You're just making it worse for new members, making things unfair for the pair. What you're saying is it's not okay for the newb to not respect the partner, but it's absolutely fine for the experienced member to not respect them.

See how this won't work? Both members need to respect the other otherwise no one will learn anything from the other and this could lead to fights.

Well how the hell do you assure the experienced member respects the newb? say, "Yo, respect your newb." Thats about all i can do. Besides hire trolls.

After reading through the thread, I support this idea. The way I see it, this may have been tried 100 times before and may have failed 100 times but that doesn't mean we shouldn't stop trying. For all we know, this attempt may see some success, then again, it may not; however, we can't really say for sure until we try. I'd go for the signiture thing as that seems to be the easiest way to let someone know who they can ask and who they can't. Also, even though this may only catch a few people and help them, that's more people than none.

Support :D

I do not support...

The ratio of "newbs" to experienced members aren't close whatsoever. I believe there won't be enough experienced members who will be willing to do this.

•Will you be able to get enough volunteers?
•How can you decide if a member is experienced enough to take a "newb" under his/her wing?
•How long will a "newb" be guided?
•Telling "newbs" what to do and them actually listening are two different things. Remember, this is a children's card game forum, there will be younger kids on here who won't be mature enough yet to grasp the advice...
•No matter how much we "help" them, they will still get trolled and flammed and if they are too young to ignore it, they will cry and leave just like every other member or "newb" who has left before them.

Attempts like this have been done several times and have failed every time

I recommend that you ignore this. Monkeys are always negative. There are over 200,000 members registered on ycm. And yet, there have never been more than 1800 on at once. This could change that. Monkey only pointed out the negative factors of this idea. Sure many of the "newbs" woudn't listed, but there is always a chance that you may get through to one or two of the people, and then there will be that many more people on ycm who can have a good time. Isn't making a person's life better worth the effort? Even if it is only one or two people? I think we should give it a try. If it works out, great! If not, it can be locked, deleted, and it will be as if it never happened. No harm, no foul. If monkey doesn't want to be part of it, fine. But, if it were to happen, it could give a lot of newer members a chance at having a good time on YCM. Think of it this way, if all of the teachers in schools thought that they shouldn't teach their students, just because they thought their students would get bullied and they were too young to pay attention in class and they would get bad grades, there would be no schools, and nobody would be smart enough to get jobs, and the world would basically destroy itself. So, you can think that nobody will listen or do things right, but there is always that small chance that you will get through to that one person, and help them have a good time. So, the only thing left to say is: Support, all the way.

I can't help but stress how wrong you are.
The fact here is that we cannot force members to look at this supposed thread, while at school, the teachers are being paid to make kids pay some sort of attention.

The ratio between newbs and senior members is what Monkey said, bad. Just because there has not been 10k + members on at once, doesn't mean there are different members on every day.

Simply put, this won't work. It's been attempted many times before.

Yes, well, there are over 20 people here who would disagree with you. Also, while teachers are getting paid, there are other jobs that would pay much more, some of which can be much easier as well. We aren't making the newbs pay attention, and we are doing this out of the goodness of our hearts, not to be payed. If they don't pay attention, fine, they will just get yelled at by other members, and will leave ycm. Again, no harm, no foul. If they do pay attention, then there are that many more members on YCM. Is there really any harm in that?
