Smesh
So, IMO, the Introduction forum is...Lacking. Newbs post there people say hi, the newb goes out to the Forums, gets trolled, leaves. Basically how it goes from what Ive seen. So, what ive been thinking of making a thread called "No Newb Left Behind". A thread in introductions where newbs can go to be paired up with an experienced member who can help them out throughout their time on YCM. Experienced members volunteer, and I pm them when a newb needs help. I didn't just post this in the forum cause it's...not an introduction. Is this a good idea? Smesh
Don't listen to trolls like him. Trolls are normally a waste of an acoount. But there are some who know what they're doing and troll the right people, not newbs.

Yankee
Exactly. Communism is a great idea on paper. However, much like this, it's not going to work, simply because of the way people are.
Archwing
I dont see a problem with trying it. Give it like a month and see how it dose.... Well right now might be a bad time, i dont think we are gonna get many new people during school and alot of the "Good members" are also in school most days. Yankee
I don't think it'll work. Ever. Most noobs don't look at threads and rules anyway. What are the chances that they will open up this thread before the flaming/ect already begins? Just as likely as them reading the rules before they post. Slim to none. Monkey
I do not support... The ratio of "newbs" to experienced members aren't close whatsoever. I believe there won't be enough experienced members who will be willing to do this. •Will you be able to get enough volunteers? •How can you decide if a member is experienced enough to take a "newb" under his/her wing? •How long will a "newb" be guided? •Telling "newbs" what to do and them actually listening are two different things. Remember, this is a children's card game forum, there will be younger kids on here who won't be mature enough yet to grasp the advice... •No matter how much we "help" them, they will still get trolled and flammed and if they are too young to ignore it, they will cry and leave just like every other member or "newb" who has left before them. Attempts like this have been done several times and have failed every time
Smesh
@Yankee that is a very good point. The chances are very slim, but...I don't know, I just wanted to help. I see alot of newbs that leave for simple reasons. If I posted this, we'd probably only help a few.. @Monkey -probably -background check on YCM -until they get a grasp of the forum -good point. That would just be their loss. If they can't take the help provided - so be it
Monkey
What would be the criteria for an experienced member to be a teacher? Even if this works and we tell younger members (in terms of age) to ignore the insults, flames, and trolls, they will still be hurt inside and will lose their confidence rather quickly. Getting advice from a random person on the Internet who has been assigned to them isn't the best motivator. They would rather just leave their pain on YCM and get on with their lives. Maturity is the biggest issue here, and it's something we can't change. It's something the members need to grow on on their own.
J-Max
Learn to embrace the nice members. I'm not saying to push the abusive members aside but I can tell a Members character from as early as their 2nd or 3rd post. One problem we have which was experienced earlier was a very abusive member who did nothing but complain in the Shoutbox and anyone who tried to help him was insulted. If a person does not want to be helped then screw them. Apologies for being sudden like that but it's how I feel.
Smesh
What would be the criteria for an experienced member to be a teacher? Hm. Lets say 5 star, (for good measure) a successful member, as in high rep, and respected. Those are pretty biased criteria, and yes, post and reps do not matter, but bad members dont get reps. Even if this works and we tell younger members (in terms of age) to ignore the insults, flames, and trolls, they will still be hurt inside and will lose their confidence rather quickly. We'd try as hard as possible to stop it, but there really is no stopping it. Maturity is the biggest issue here, and it's something we can't change. Monkey
Eeh, I'm not saying choosing +5 star members is a bad criteria but that's a little biased as well. Any member can spam his or her way to 5 stars. So if a member doesnt see the the thread or chooses to ignore the thread and suffer on YCM, wouldn't that be the opposite of "No Newb Left Behind"? YCM is intended for kids to make their own Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards and have fun on the forum. They dont have to be mature to be on YCM. If they want to have fun making cards on YCM, then I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be here
Smesh
True. But if they have no maturity, they won't survive long. If this doesnt work out, I say mods should erradicate trolls that troll just to be a******s. And it would be the opposite come to think of it. I guess it would need a different name. We couldnt help EVERY newb. I break down on members who troll newbs for no reason, which can help, but thats really all I can do besides report them. So, maybe mods should be more strict to trolling, and more members should help stop it - That could be the goal. Helping out newbs that would like help. Not forcing every one to follow the rules.
