They have a lot of ways to make Bug/Steel good in Ubers.

Steel alone is a good typing, and just pack a Kyogre if you are afraid of Fire-typed attacks.

Bug has good super-effective hits on Psychic AND Dark. I can definitely see it working, despite me thinking it sucked when I first read it.
