"That was your mistake....Milotic, Psych Up..." Caden replied. Milotic moved out of sight just as quickly as Treecko moved towards it. "Now, Iron Tail!" Caden commanded as Milotic's tail became wrapped in an enveloping light. "Now, use Toxic on your tail!" Akira declared. The Toxic hit Milotic's tail and spread around, turning the tail bright white and purple. "Now, charge straight into Treecko using the Cross Tail Combo!" Milotic charged straight into Treecko's Leaf Blade with its tail. The two of them collided and Milotic landed gracefully on the field.

It wasn't much longer before Kier reached Gradnis Village. He stopped briefly off at the Pokemon Centre to leave Trapinch and Beldum with Nurse Joy for a rest while he went to check out the Grass-type gym.

When he arrived, an orderly came and asked that he be blind-folded so that he not have an unfair advantage for his own gym challenge. "Luckily I already do..." he thought with a grin. He proceeded to carefully count the steps they took to the final clearing where the battle was taking place.

It was a Milotic against the gym leader's Treecko. Normally Kier would side with Treecko, having the type advantage, to win easily but something about the challenger seemed awfully familiar. "Have I seen him somewhere before..?"

Meanwhile...

"Cacturne, dodge again!" Sorano called as Machoke tried to strike again, "What are you doing Mom? I've seen you go off the deep end before but this is something else entirely!"

"I... I... I SAW YOUR FATHER!" she shrieked in despair.

"Wh...what? But he disappeared ten years ago."

"No... The ******* simply joined Team Draconius!" their mother continued, shaking with rage and grief. Cheryl was crying in the corner, her Espeon trying to comfort her.

"So your solution to all of this is to attack your daughter? Sorry Mom, you've gone too far this time. Cacturne, use Substitute then knock both of them out with Focus Punch!"

Cacture disappeared amidst the sand of their battle and drove a mighty fist into Machoke's gut. He didn't stop though. He kept going, knocking Machoke's trainer out as well.

"I swear I'm going to be scarred for life..." thought Sorano as Cheryl rushed over in distress.

Treecko did a stylish back-flip, and landed on the edge of the field as well. "Impressive moves. However, I still have a combo of my own. Treecko, use Leaf Blade again, but this time, focus on Milotic's movements." Treecko started focusing all his power into the two small leaves, and then focused on finding where Milotic was. "Now, Treecko use-" Suddenly, before Shibi could finish his sentance, Treecko started glowing. "Ah... Treecko... Is evolving!" Treecko disappeared in a a flash of light. When the light cleared, a new Pokémon was standing in Treecko's place. "Treecko evolved into Grovyle... Wow..." Grovyle raised its leaves, and they started glowing green. "Alright, Now, Grovyle, use Razor Leaf to launch your Leaf Blades at Milotic!" Grovyle launched the glowing leaves at Milotic, which followed it like a boomerang. Seconds later, Grovyle's leaves grew again, replacing the ones that he had launched. "Just try and dodge this!" Shibi shouted, excited by his Pokémon's evolution.

-MEANWHILE-

Zura Trancella had gotten word from the guard. "Sir, the grunt has arrived." Zura sighed. "Good, send him in." The grunt walked in the door, and knelt before Zura. "Sir, I apologize for my failure-" Zura cut him off. "Shut up, I don't want to here it. I will provide you with this." Zura pulled out a small Pokéball emblazoned with a Dragon's head on the top, and a purple, starry swirl on the bottom. "Here is a chance to redeem yourself. Make sure that a man named Zura Glory gets this. Make sure you are not seen, but make sure that Glory knows who sent it. Understand?" The grunt took the ball, and said "Yes Sir, I will Sir." before walking out the door.

Shibi was a good gym leader, but Kier had finally remembered where he had seen the challenger before. He had been on the front page of the Regional newspaper for winning the Sinnoh League outright. He even held his own against the Elite Four. Only the Champion had truly beaten him. The one thing that did strike him about the challenger's attacks was that they all resemble contest combinations... It was certainly an odd choice but it seemed to work very well indeed. This challenge was already over in Kier's mind now. He was going over his own strategy in his mind now. "Trapinch is going to be of little use here. That Bulbasaur and Grovyle are too fast. I will use it to damage Leafeon however. Beldum, as a steel type, will have a massive defensive advantage as long as he raised it's defence enough to avoid Leafeon's Dig." That would have to do for now.

"Simple enough...Milotic, Protect!" Caden commanded as the leaves hit the barrier and disintegrated. "That might have been harsh..." Caden thought. "But the past is the past..." The orb surrounding Milotic disappeared. "Now, use Iron Tail again!" Milotic's tail glowed yet again. "This time, use Dragon Pulse against Iron Tail!" Milotic shot a bluish beam at its tail. The Iron Tail and the Dragon Pulse Collided, shooting shards of blue and silver across the battlefield. And now, use Hidden Power!" Milotic shot out a transparent ball, which turned red. The ball shot up against the showering blue and silver shards, and collided. The blast from the Hidden Power doubles the speed of the falling shards, which aimed across the battlefield. "Finally, Light Screen!" Caden ordered. Several shards came crashing down on Grovyle, while Milotic elegantly took each shot with its barrier.

Lucas was informed there was a trainer, wanting to battle. Lucas returned his pokemon to their pokeballs. He asked the trainer if he was here for a gym battle, "I only want your Metagross.", "I'll take that as a compliment and a challenge. Ok, let's battle." The challenger showed his Black and Purple uniform with an emblem consisting of a series of shining stars, he sent out his Camerupt and Lucas sent out his Metagross with the command "Manipulate, Metagross!!" The battle began with the challenger's attack, "Camerupt, Lava Plum!!", "Metagross, use confusion to contain the explosion." The smoke was covered in a blue aura and it was kept in the bubble like container, when the smog cleared up the bubble formed into an aura around Camerupt, "Metagross throw Camerupt to the wall!" The Camerupt was hurled and badly wounded. "Camerupt, Sludge Bomb!", "Metagross, Protect!" a ball of sludge flew towards Metagross, but he protected himself. The sludge was splattered on the ground. "Metagross, Rock Tomb", Camerupt was covered by rocks. "Metagross, Meteor Mash" Metagross broke the stones and hit Camerupt, knocking it out.

Sibi watched the excellent display, as Grovyle was struck with the attack. Grovyle had fainted. The ref stepped up, and said "Grovyle is unable to battle the winner is Caden." Shibi stepped up to Grovyle. "Imglad you finally pulled it off, Grovyle. You did your best. Now, Return." Shibi returned Grovyle to its Pokéball. Shibi then walked over to Caden. "Im glad I could fight you, Caden. And I must thank you. You helped my Grovyle evolve." Shibi said. "Here, this is for you. To your first victory in the Cygrus Region." Shibi pulled out a green badge. It was decorated with a glowing leaf. "Here, this is the Flow Badge. Take it, you deserve it." Shibi handed Caden the badge.

-MEANWHILE-

Atrus was applauding the two for the great fight. "That was a good fight, Caden. Congratulations on winning your first Gym Badge." Atrus said, as he walked over to the two.

-MEANWHILE-

The grunt placed the ball into a box with a note attached to it, then shipped the package off to the Elite Four in Evraflow City.

"Thanks so much" Caden smiled at Shibi, and stroked Milotic. "Excellent work, Milotic" he walked over to Atrus. "Thanks, good luck in yours too. I'm headed off to the Pokemon Center" he said. Then, he bumped into another trainer, one with a Beldum, on the way out. Caden looked shocked, seeing as how the trainer knew who he was "Oh, thank you very much" he said politely as he made his way past the trainer. "I'm just here to experience new things" he smiled as he walked out of the gym. He walked to the Pokemon Center. "Good afternoon, Nurse Joy. Can you please heal these?" Caden asked, placing 2 Poke Balls on the counter. "Sure, they'll be healed in no time!" Nurse Joy said enthusiastically. "Thanks a lot!" Caden smiled. He took a seat in the waiting area and about ten minutes later, Nurse Joy returned with his Pokemon. "Here they are, good as new!" she smiled. "Thanks, Nurse Joy" Caden replied. Then, he walked out the door of the Pokemon Center.

"Shibi, once Atrus challenges you, would you mind battling me?" Kier asked, walking over once he had motioned his goodbye to Caden.

Meanwhile...

"Nurse Joy, it's worse this time," Sorano said, laying his mother down on one of the hospital beds.

"In what way?" asked Nurse Joy.

"She's claiming our father joined some Team Draconius!" Cheryl shouted, "Whatever the hell that is!"

Nurse Joy shot Sorano a terrified glance. Sorano merely nodded before saying "Go on home Cheryl, watch a movie with Espeon. Nurse Joy and I need to sort some things out."

When Cheryl left, Nurse Joy immediately asked, "Can it be true?!"

"I dunno..." Sorano replied darkly, "But I'm going to find out. Unfortunately the League season has started so it may have to wait."

Mako was in Grabis Forest, fighting a Scyther. Charmander was shooting embers at it, but Scyther was to fast for it. Scyther had already slashed Charmander in the side, and Charmander was limping. The pokedex entrie wasnt helpdul either: It is nearly impossible to parry its attacking scythes. Its movements are like a ninja.. "Charmander, use scratch!" said Mako. Charmander got ready to scratch, but Scyther used pursuit, and it hit Charmander right in the face. "Charmander!" said Mako. Charmander got up and got into such a rage that it was steaming. It ran fukl on at Scyther. Scyther was knocked back in surprise. Charmander then started to glow. Of course! It learned Dragon Rage, and Charmanders usually evolve during that time! Charmander evolved into Charmelion! "Charmelion, use Ember!" said Mako, and the ember knocked Scyther out. "Go pokeball!" said Mako, catching his first pokemon. He walked back to his little village to heal, practiced Scyther, then went to the gym. It seeemed someone had finished battling already..."Hey, I would like to go next!" said Mako.

Since another battle had to take place before Kier could make an attempt at his first badge, he decided to go and collect his Pokemon from the Pokemon Centre. As he walked out of the Gym, he realised how much he liked this little village of Gradnis. Everything seemed so simple and peaceful out here. Everyone was doing their share of their work just to grow the daily food. Kier even spotted a couple of Lotad watering some seeds a young boy of five was planting.

He was so interested in his surroundings that he didn't notice he was already at the Pokemon Centre and he had walked headlong into Caden. "Ouch! Sorry about that. I'm clumsy today."

Shibi looked at the new trainers. "Im awfully sorry, but my Pokémon need some rest. I hate making people wait, but could you please come by in a couple of hours? I have to sort out a few things. I'm sorry." Shibi said again. "Here, this is a passage out of the forest. It's only one way, though." Shibi pointed to another door in the rock surface. He left through that door himself, then went to a Pokémon center. He had his Pokémon healed there, then looked at a nearby clock. "If it's about 3:00 right now, then Gardenia should be on her break by now." Shibi pulled out a Cell-phone, dialed a number, then waited for someone to pick up. Someone did. "Hello? Gardenia? Yes, it's me. It's good to here from you again. Anyways, I have some good news. You know the Treecko you gave me? It evolved into a Grovyle. Hm? Yes, I managed to pull off that combo I always try, thanks for asking. Well, I have to go, so I'll call you again tomorrow, OK? OK. Talk to you soon. Bye." Shibi put his Cell-phone away, and retreived his Pokémon. He Went to his house, sat down, and started formulating new strategies to use against the next trainers. "Hm... Now that Grovyle has evolved, it's gotten much faster, and can use that Boomerang Leaf combo, along with Bulbasar's speed and his Solar Beam, that's a lot of force right there, then Leafeon has some exstensive powers, what with his Dig... Hm..."

"Oh, no. It's my fault" Caden apologized. "So, where are you from?" Caden asked. "I see that your Beldum has been trained well" Caden pointed out. It had a glow that was differnt from normal Beldum. "That's the sign that your Beldum can use Zen Headbutt" Caden said excitedly. "It's my first time seeing one of those "special" Beldum up close" Caden said in awe. "Wait, you said that you still had a couple of hours, right? Do you want to go to the Pokemon Center Cafe? Maybe we can get to know each other a little better"

"Sure!" said Kier perhaps a little too excitedly. He didn't want to come across as just a crazy fan. The pair entered the Pokemon Centre where Kier put Beldum into care along with his Trapinch. They then proceeded to the cafe area a little along from the front desk where a whole bunch or trainers were chatting excitedly about a fresh start to the league year. Many were fresh on the road, like Kier but some were returning champions that many recognised like Caden. "So... what brings the champion of Cygrus to Sinnoh? Weren't you offered a spot on their Elite Four?"

"Yes, but I had no intention of becoming one, so I rejected the offer" Caden said, sipping a cup of tea. "Being in the Elite 4 would be nice, but I much rather prefer a normal life. For example, if I were in the Elite 4, I wouldn't be able to go on journeys like this, would I?" Caden looked up. "Oh, also, can you do me a favor and not mention to anyone about me winning the Sinnoh League?" Caden asked. "I'm not the type who likes to show off" he said. "Anyways, since you were at the gym, I suppose we have a common purpose, don't we?" Caden smiled. "The Evraflow Conference" he said.

"That's the idea," Kier said slowly, "Although I don't know if I'm off to a great start. I caught a Trapinch while crossing the desert on the way here from Terramean City but he is going to be pretty ineffective against Shibi's lightning fast grass type attacks. Beldum's advantage on the other hand is enormous. But I don't know if it will be enough. Three on one seems pretty over-whelming."

Meanwhile...

Sorano returned home to find Cheryl sleeping in front of a movie, Espeon standing next to her like a silent guardian. "How is she?" he whispered as he put a blanket over her.

"Espe..." Espeon had been a huge help over the years. She was as protective as Sorano was of Cheryl.

"She can't know the truth..."

Shibi decided to get a little time for relaxation in before he went back to the Gym. He walked into a café, and noticed Caden and some other trainer talking. Shibi walked over to the table, and sat down at one of the remaining empty seats. "Small world, isn't it? Who knew i'd meet you here, Caden." Shibi turned to the other trainer. "I remember you from the Gym. I'm Shibi, the Gym Leader. Who might you be?" Shibi asked.

-MEANWHILE-

Zura Glory decided to travel to Terramean City, to watch the trainers pass through. He walked out of the building, and pulled out a Pokéball. "Go, Charizard." A large, orange dragon appeared. "Can you fly me to Terramean City?" The dragon gave a friendly growl. "Thanks, my friend." Zura hopped on the dragon, and rode off to Terramean City.

-MEANWHILE-

Atrus went to a Pokémart to buy a few Great Balls for when he went to the next area. "Maybe I should buy some potions, too. Or, maybe some repels? No, I want to see more Pokémon, so I shouldn't..." Atrus decided on what to buy, and left for the Gym again.

"I see...3 on 1 sounds interesting, doesn't it?" Caden smiled. "Yeah, most trainers don't have 3 Pokemon by the time they get here" Caden pointed out. "Here, maybe these will help" Caden said as he stood up and pulled out three cubes from his bag labeled TM22, TM10, and TM06. "TM06 contains Toxic, TM10 contains Hidden Power, and TM22 contains Solarbeam" he said as he handed them to Kier. "Anyways, I wish you the best of luck in your Gym Battle. I'm going to head to Terramean pretty soon" Caden said as he closed his bag and sat back down. "So, which gym are you heading off to next?" Caden asked.

"Wow, thank you..." Kier said in awe. These technical machines would prove invaluable. When he scanned Trapinch's data with the Pokedex, when he first caught it, he remembered seeing that his Hidden Power type was fire. "Trapinch's Hidden Power is fire. This will help me to win, thanks Caden." A minute later, Shibi entered the cafe and walked over to greet them. "Hi, I'm Kier, fresh-faced trainer and ready and willing challenger of your gym as soon as you're possibly ready," Kier said eagerly.

"No problem" Caden smiled as he got up to leave. "It was nice talking to you, Kier. Also, thank you for the battle earlier, Shibi" Caden bowed slightly and was about to leave. Then, he stopped. "Oh, you don't mind if I do a contact transfer, do you?" He took out his custom-made Pokedex and scanned it with Kier's. The wireless phone option now had Kier's information in it, and vice versa. "Alright, I'll see you later" he said as he walked upstairs and out the Pokemon Center. "Terramean Town, here I come!" he said to himself.

Well, we can go over to the Gym right now, though I have other people to battle as well, so don't get too impatient, please. Anyways, let's go." Shibi walked back to the Gym, where Atrus was.

"Oh, hello. I came here to challange you. Are you alright with that?" Atrus said.

"Yeah, alright." Shibi said. Atrus and Shibi made their way to the edge of the forest once more, and they battled. Atrus barely won, using the tactic he used to catch Aipom. He used Rain Dance, then used Thunder. Due to the water, the Thunder would follow Shibi's Pokémon until it hit. Shibi handed Atrus the Flow Badge. "Impressive strategy. Completely bypassed the speed of my Pokémon. And using your Aipom to finish Leafeon was ingenius. Great battle." Atrus and Shibi shook hands, and Atrus left. "Alright, who's next?" Shibi asked the trainers.

-MEANWHILE-

Zura Glory had made it to Terramean City, where he waited outside the Gym for trainers from the ferry that had arrived a few hours earlier that day.

"That would be me." Kier said excitedly, stepping forward. He had taught his Trapinch all the Technical Machines that Caden had given him. Maybe now, he would stand a chance. "Trapinch, time for battle." The little orange Pokemon leapt excitedly onto the grassy battlefield and stared around in delight. It was quite clear that he had never been anywhere outside of the desert before now. "Who will you start with?" Kier asked enticingly, almost tauntingly. He was trying to get the gym leader riled up so that he'd make mistakes but that was unlikely to work at best.

Caden walked for miles from Gradnis to Terramean. However, when he got to an intersection leading between Terramean Town and the Sand Citadel, he decided to take a detour to the Sand Citadel. "This seems like an interesting place" he thought as he walked into the desert. Suddenly, he heard two Pokemon growl. He quickly turned and saw that a couple tens of feet away, an Electabuzz and a Gible were fighting a man's Rhyperior. The man was dressed in a red, black, and grey uniform. "Hey! What are you doing?!!" two voices from behind Caden loomed over him. "Who are you, and why do you want those Pokemon?" Caden asked angrily. "It's rare to see an Electabuzz in a desert. I wonder how it turned up here" he thought. "It's none of your business!" the 3 men said. "However, since you're not running away, we'll have to crush you!" they roared. "Porygon Z! Magnezone! Come out!" the two men behind Caden shouted. "Double Thunderbolt!" they yelled. The two Thunderbolts collided, creating an electric dragon aimed for Gible and Electabuzz. Caden had no time to take out any of his own Pokemon. Without thinking, he ran in front of the two Pokemon and took the attack. The thunder dragon hit him, and Caden fell to his knees. Weakly, he took a Pokeball from his bag. "Go, Milotic..." he said shakily. "Please use a spinning Hydro Pump" he said. Milotic shot a triple stream of Hydro Pumps, knocking out all three men along with their Pokemon. "Ughhh...GIble Electabuzz...I need to get you two out of here..." he said as he put out his hands to the Pokemon. Gible looked at Electabuzz, who looked back and nodded. "Buzzzzzz Buzzzzzz!" It said to Caden. "Huh? You want....to...join me?" Caden asked. The Pokemon confirmed and nodded. Caden smiled, grabbed 2 Pokeballs out of his bag, and said "Welcome" as Gible and Electabuzz turned into red lights and disappeared within the balls. He walked weakly to the Pokemon Center, where he saw a man with a Charizard.

Shibi looked at Keir as the ref stepped out once again. The ref stated the usual rules of battle. "This will be a battle between the Challanger Keir, and the Gym Leader Shibi. Both trainers are allowed to use up to three Pokémon. Ready... Begin!!!" Shibi took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go, Leafeon!" The slender Pokémon appeared. "Go ahead and use Dig!" Leafeon obeyed, and burrowed into the ground.

-MEANWHILE-

Zura Glory noticed a trainer who looked slightly injured. "Are you alright?" Zura asked the trainer. "You look a little burned to me. Here." Zura pulled out a small vial of water. "This is special spring water from high atop a mountain in the Johto Region. Just a little can help you, so here. Take it." Zura said. "Oh, I'm sorry, I never introduced myself. I'm Zura Glory, of the Elite Four. It's nice to meet a trainer such as yourself." Zura itroduced himself.
