Blake
In the Dragon Quest games, one would always find a church. By going into the church, and 'Confessing your sins to the Goddess,' followed by 'Recording your sins,' you get to save the game. Discuss these comical Churches, and other parts of the Dragon Quest series.
Headmaster Monokuma
I've never played one myself, but I've seen a play through of one by Datai. They seem really good. What was the system they first started on?
Blake
Erm... I have no clue. They are made by Square Enix... so Nintendo, maybe?
Spoon
I played only one Dragon Quest (if you do not count Dragon Quest Monsters), and that was part VIII. It was horrible. And you want to know why? Because of this churches! Only being able to save and heal in a f***ing church is just not up to date anymore! No savepoints? Not even before a boss? I played quite some hours to get to the first boss (because the enemies in that dungeon pretty much handed my ass to me when I first entered, I had to grind a bit), and with the anticipation of a savepoint I did go further in, only to find out that I'm already at the boss... so I thought: It's the first boss of the game, how hard can it be? Conclusion: I got my butt kicked. And where did I start? At the f***ing church! 30 minutes of walking back... and I really did it. And guess what? I died again. At that point I gave up on that game and the whole series. I do not only hate the church in real life, I also hate them in games... especially in Dragon Quest. Spoon
*coughprejudicedcough* Jk, But in all seriousness, wow, that really sucks.
I know, I know. Actually, I already had prejudices before even buying the game (at least it was only 15 bucks, used), because of the artstyle. I hated it that much because it reminded me of Dragonball (God, that looked horrible!), but when I saw it for that low price at a gamestop, I remembered how this game was praised all over the place. And since I'm a sucker for JRPGs, I couldn't stand the chance (Same goes for the Shin Megami Tensei Series btw). Maybe I just played bad (I never had that happen, not at a JRPG at least, but maybe I did something severly wrong, who knows), maybe I just can't stand hard games (though I played through Resonance of Fate... it was hard, yeah, but at least you could repeat any fight as often as you wanted to, god damnit, that's how modern game design should be!), but the result is all the same: Dragon Quest died for me.
