Though it is technically "during a battle", I think you should at least give him a chance to start the match, with 2 Pokemon actually out. Then, it there is a 24 hour gap in the battle, WHILE the battle is occurring, the rule will take effect. I hope you don't mind. @BDD - If you're desperate, I could fill in for him for the timebeing.
