Trying to Balance Draw Power

Recommended Posts

The Tortoise
Normal Spell Card
Activate only while you control a monster that was Tribute Summoned. Draw 1 card. You cannot activate "The Tortoise" while you have a "The Tortoise" in your Graveyard. If a Tribute Summoned monster you control is removed from the field, you can remove this card in your Graveyard from play.

Fragile Pot
Quick-Play Spell Card
Draw 2 cards, and shuffle 2 cards in your hand back into your Deck. If you draw a "Fragile Pot(s)" with this card's effect, you can discard it to draw 1 card.

Brawn and Brain
Normal Spell Card
Select 1 Level 4 Normal Monster you control. Draw 1 card. The selected monster cannot attack this turn.

The Tortoise is nice; I approve. It would be nice if it had some minor added bonus beyond merely making your deck size 37, though, especially given that you sometimes won't be able to play it even if you do control a Tribute Summoned monster.

Fragile Pot... eh, I know it's a -1 and it doesn't really deckthin, but it'll still pair your draw cards with their fodder, and by letting you choose which cards to get rid of after drawing their replacements and not letting your opponent benefit, it seems strictly superior to Hand Destruction. Seems slightly overpowered.

Brain and Brawn is all right, I suppose, but it's a bit underwhelming. There are decks that could use it, but since the one thing that vanillas can do as well as Effect Monsters is attack and kill stuff, decks running Level 4 Normal Monsters won't be willing to give up attacks too easily, especially if the benefit is only a bit of deckthin.

In this game, on-turn draw power is amazing enough, honestly.

I was afraid that would come up. The concept seemed fine enough, but it seemed lacking in some departments, and strong in others. Frankly, the -1 might make or break it. This is one of those cards that can really only be figured out through testing.

Honestly, I just have a hard time posting single or double card topics. A three-shot seemed fitting, and I needed space.

EDIT: I say honestly too much /:
