Deleting vocals

Is there a ways to delete vocals from a song? Or at least reduce its volume to make it barely heard? Because i need to prepare some songs to karaoke

I don't know, there are a few programs out there that will do it, but usually, I'll just find a MIDI online somewhere.

I did.

There are some programs that can 'pretend' to remove vocals - but it generally just guesses at which bits are actually vocals and sometimes sounds terrible. I'd personally look for an instrumental file and if that doesn't work, give up. I'm pretty sure that no program can technically tell the difference between voice and instruments in normal sound files.

Still, you can Google around if you like, but don't be surprised if you end up having to torrent some expensive software to do anything.

I [i]think[/i] Audacity is supposed to be able to remove vocals. But I've barely used Audacity, so I don't know.

If it makes you feel better, I'm probably going to try to make a midi of Believe in Nexus/Clear Mind...eventually.

I tried Audactiy method, but it didn't erased vocals and lowered quality of song :/

There's a trick in Audacity where you split a stereo track into two mono tracks, invert one of them, then combine them into a stereo track again.
Never worked for me, though.

I'm sure there are different kinds of software out there that is able to do that, but I wouldn't know how.

I just know it's possible, because I used to have a broken earphone which would only play the background music of a song. Dunno why.[/b][/color][/center]
