Demyx and Xion

This is more of a theory as to how there came to be no Heartless in Atlantica when Sora showed up there in Kingdom Hearts 2.

 

During his time in Organization XIII, Roxas had to go solo on one of his missions around the 200's days. One day, Xemnas decided that in order for them to have their keep, he ordered Saix to have Demyx and Xion go on a mission. This mission: obliterate all the heartless in Atlantica. Demyx and Xion had no choice but to accept the mission.

 

When they got to Atlantica the place was swarming with Heartless above and below the waters. "Why did they send the wrong guy?" asked Demyx. "But isn't controlling water your specialty?" asked Xion. "Yeah, yeah." said Demyx. "Time to go to work."

 

And so Demyx used his sitar to control the water around the Heartless bringing all of them up to the surface. He also made the water walkable so that Xion can eliminate them with the Keyblade. In a matter of minutes all the Heartless in Atlantica were eliminated and Kingdom Hearts feed on more hearts. "Not bad." said Demyx. "Why don't we go back?" ask Xion. "Yeah. I'm sure Saix will finally get off my back for helping you." said Demyx. And with that, Demyx opened a dark corridor and he and Xion went into it.

 

And the rest is history.
