Flame Dragon
The Mirrodin Besieged ICD Index thread in future set speculations on wizards forums (the link is on magic site). ATM we have 131 cards, however not all have picks.
Flame Dragon
http://www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/article.aspx?x=mtg/tcg/mirrodinbesieged/spoiler# Yay, new set. IMO both sides look balanced enough. Just wished we got a little less infect and a little more battle cry and living weapon. http://www.magicdraftsim.com/ We also got a way to get a feel for the cards as we inch closer to the prerelease. Flame Dragon
So, with the prerelease only a day or so away what cards are you most looking forward to? Not counting Mythics mine are Phyrexian Crusader: Great infect card, and a major pain to kill. Green Sun's Zenith: Green is my favorite color and I love tutor effect. As such I love this card Sangromancer: Free life gain for something that constantly happens on a 3/3 flier is great. The fact that I'm looking for more Vamps for my Vamp deck makes this a perfect addition. Darksteel Plate: Turning off the main avenue of creature removal is just great. Bonehoard: This thing can become big fast. The fact that you can keep using it to make other creatures huge is something I love Victory's Herald: The potential damage this can cause is just cool to me. The fact it can turn all that damage into my life makes me love it more. Go for the Throat: It's like Doom Blade, but better. Nested Ghoul: I like making tokens, and this has the potential to make a good number. At the very least he should leave me one. Flayer Husk: Sets you up for a good start with a 1/1 and when that isn't cutting it you can boost another of your creature. That just seems cool to me, especially for a common. Rot Wolf: I like card draw, I like infect, I like green, I like this card http://www.wizards.com/company/downloads/mtgo_build_a_deck_contest.pdf I want to try this
Lord Ursus
Black Sun's Zenith, for the most part, as it will be format defining. I discarded the whole WB control idea for a mono-black one, which is actually much better. I now have both Grave Titan and Wurmcoil Engine as finishers, incredible disruption and removal and very good card advantage. The reason I chose to play MBC in the first place is because it is a very fun deck and because you have such a consistent mana-base that you will win about 15-20% of your matches due to your opponent stumbling. Inquisition of Kozilek is brilliant in that respect.
Flame Dragon
So, the prerelease was fun. I packed crap, so of the 7 rares I pulled i used 1. I did get Green Sun's Zenith, so that kind of made up for it. Ezuri was also a nice pull for my Elf deck. In the end I went 2/3 but beating on of the guys that placed in the top 2-0 makes me kind of happy.
-Genesis-
Sorry I've been offline so much. Been busy. Also I'm happy because I bought my first three packs of Mirroden Beseiged yesterday and pulled both Green Sun's Zenith and Black Sun's Zenith. If my luck keeps going this direction I'd love it. Lord Ursus
Just went 6-0 at my local FNM. I won first price, along with a nice FNM foil Spellstutter Sprite. Consecrated Sphinx is amazing (my first-pick) and Vedalken Anatomist is a definate first-pick card.
Flame Dragon
Nice. I've been having a lot of fun using the sim to draft so I really want to try one out irl. I was kind of hoping to go to a FNM near me, but none of my friends wanted to go and they didn't have money so we couldn't. I still would want to at some. -Genesis-
Sorry I was offline so long. Me and some of my friends used to make a room on chatzy and play through that. although whichever one of us was hosting would make a small update on the entire field after every few turns/posts. Lord Ursus
Ok, so the current standard meta seems to be split mainly into these categories: Tezzeret Kuldotha RDW UB Control Valakut Caw-Blade What are your ideas on how to beat them? I intend to find a successful anti-meta deck.
-Genesis-
Not sure.... I don't know much about Mirroden Beseiged. I didn't really like it when I looked. I'm just making random decks with stuff from across the board.
Flame Dragon
So, we've been getting Action art, and so far we've gotten 3 of the 5 leaders of Phyrexia http://media.wizards.com/images/magic/som/factionwars/hotspots/lg/131593d.jpg http://media.wizards.com/images/magic/som/factionwars/hotspots/lg/131597d.jpg http://media.wizards.com/images/magic/som/factionwars/hotspots/lg/131590d.jpg
Flame Dragon
So, we know now that the 3rd set will be New Phyrexia. We even got a preview card. Holy hell, she is good. So, thoughts on the phyrexian win?
-Genesis-
All I can tell you is that I now plan on throwing that into almost every white deck I have.
Flame Dragon
All I can tell you is that I now plan on throwing that into almost every white deck I have.
Same. She is so good. Anyway, we a re already starting to get leaks of effects. This is the most note worthy won Karn, the Savior [7] Myth. Planeswalker – Karn [+4]: Target player exiles a card from his or her hand. [-3]: Exile target permanent. [-14]: Return all exiled non-Aura permanents to the battlefield under your control. [6] An alt version of -14 is Set aside all non-Aura permanent exiled by Karn, then restart the game. Return all cards that were set aside to the battlefield under your control. Either way, he is amazing. We also got Urabrask's effect. He's a 4/4 for 5. He gives your whole army haste while the opponent has all their creatures come into play tapped. Not as good as Norn imo, but still really good. My other fav card of those that we've seen is Caged Sun. It costs 6 to play and it gives all creatures of a chosen color +1/+1 and doubles your mana. Other big news is we're getting colored artifacts back as well as phyrexian mana. They cost either 2 life or that color mana. http://www.mananation.com/magic-the-gathering-sets/scars-mirrodin-block/phyrexia/new-phyrexia-spoilers/ Link with all the cards we know so far. Lord Ursus
Hey guys. Elesh Norn is a beast, but competitive only in control-decks. She COULD be brilliant there, as she makes every single one of your threats bigger than the opposing. On a side note, my strategy for this year's Norwegian Championships has got over 2800 views on the Wizards forums.

Flame Dragon
Deck seems really cool, and a nice change from the usual deck. I would offer advice but I have little knowledge on how to make competitive decks. I mostly stick to interesting, off the beaten path type ideas for my play group. My latest one is an Elf Infect deck. Deck centers around Mr. Beast and Nissa to provided a constant stream of proliferation for loyalty, poison, +1/+1, -1/-1, and level up counters. Still, I love making decks better, so any advice. FYI, deck is only 41 cards cause the other 19 are forests. god is a good god and not only gave me another infect elf, it's a 1 drop. Yay. Flame Dragon
That link is broken since wizards took it down. However they did do the next best thing and gave us the full set a week and a half in advance. http://www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/article.aspx?x=mtg/tcg/newphyrexia/spoiler# Well played wizards, well played.
