Flame Dragon
So we're half way to though the Scars preview. What do you guys think of what we've seen so far. I like a lot of the cards. I'll shair my personal favs next week. And speaking of favs, what are some of your fav cycles? From what I've seen the Liege and the Spirit Avatars are my likely my top 2 with all of them having something good about them. From those Creakwood Liege and Divinity of Pride are my top two. Now if only I could get them.
Sixty
I hope I don't have to rejoin. But if so... Name: Sixty3Zero Colors: All five Guild: Didn't really like the Ravnica block tbqh... Time playing: Around 4-5 years I don't run all five all the time. Only in my kickass Scarecrow deck. I also run Phage Elves, Maralock, and Pwny (White Knights, name is an inside joke).
Saturn of Elemia
Well, I'm back from vacation - and learned a new style of play that involves a 100 card deck. As for those lovely planeswalkers...I like Venser the most. He'd be PERFECT for a White/Blue Ally deck - seriously. The new Elspeth is kinda powerful - but he blows himself up. Flame Dragon
I'm so going to make an infect deck. http://www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/article.aspx?x=mtg/tcg/scarsofmirrodin/spoiler#
Lord Ursus
Same here. You think that Distortion Strike and Inexorable Tide would be good in that aspect?
Saturn of Elemia
Good luck with an infest deck, Flame. I can see a green/black infest deck being DEVASTATING! Use the power of the black cards to give Infest with green's power to increase the power of those monsters and give them trample. I have a feeling that there may be an enchantment in the coming future that will prevent a player(s) from gaining Poison Counters. Now wouldn't that be fun? Flame Dragon
Distortion Strike: Holy crap that would be great. Inexorable Tide: Yes, but really most cards that cause proliferate would work well.

That's what I have for the deck right now. Using only cards from the pack makes it cooler, but less good at the same time. It would suck since it would make poison unuseable.
Saturn of Elemia
Nice setup you got. As for that poison counter stopping enchantment...it's nothing that Naturalize, Disenchant, or Aura Shards can't fix. If you wanna take a blue approach, then use things like Boomerang or Into the Roil to bounce it back to their hand.
Lord Ursus
That seems good, although Trigon of Rage is slightly more dangerous if you use on a bypassed creature. Black-Green Infect with Untamed Might, anyone? So yeah... I'll be heading for the prerelease tomorrow and am going to look for some poison. Flame Dragon
So my pulls are the sneak weren't that great, but my deck was decent. In the end I placed 7th with a record of 6-3-1. I got an intro pack for some of my infect cards. turns out had I stopped and thought about it I could have gotten a different one for almost all my infect cards. O well, I'll get it next time. Saturn of Elemia
A buddy and I went to the prerelease party - and he got BOTH Venser and Elspeth!!!
Lord Ursus
That's one lucky buddy. Tell him to hang on to them, as they will increase immensily in value. This is because now people are unsure about their power levels. Infect is one sweet ability, BTW.
Flame Dragon
Wow, people must have hated him. I know I would have. I didn't get any mythics out of my 8 packs and I've already pulled a double. Yea the pack isn't giving me much love. Yea infect is so much fun. I won two matches with it. First was my first match. Turn before I won I attacked with the Boa thinking he wouldn't block it. He didn't so he went up to 7 poison counters. Next turn I gave my unblockale blue 2/1 +1/+0 and infect giving me jus enough to push for game. I could have done that the turn before but I knew my opponent would have blocked the 1/1 so spilting the attacks over the 2 turns one it for me. My other one was against my friend. I had gotten him down to 8 life and 7 poison. I attacked with a 8/8 and 3 1 power infect creatures. My opponent had 1 creature so no matter what he did the game was mine via normal of poison damage. Lord Ursus
My current take on a Standard Infect deck: Creatures: (23) 4 Hand of the Praetors 2 Skithiryx the Blight Dragon 3 Putrefax 4 Cystbearer 4 Plague Stinger 4 Birds of Paradise 2 Necropede Instants: (11) 4 Duress 4 Vines of Vastwood 3 Grasp of Darkness Artifacts: (1) 1 Livewire Leash Planeswalkers: (2) 2 Garruk Wildspeaker Lands: (23) 4 Verdant Catacombs 10 Swamp 9 Forest This deck is capable to make turn 4 and 5 kills rather consistently, though with a 1 mana infector, a turn 3 kill is viable. Saturn of Elemia
I would recommend cards like Giant Growth and Groundswell as well for your Infect deck. Those are great beatdown cards to use - and it had a VERY consistent kill rate.
-Genesis-
I'm back sorry for disappearing for so long, college is busy. So, Saturn you said you wanted me to talk on Scars of Mirrodin, but unfortunately I've only gotten a few packs of it. I liked it especially the infect idea. So I bought the infect deck and combined it with some extra proliferate cards. It works pretty well. I also bought the pre-made deck with Carnifex Demon. But beyond that I have little to say about Scars of Mirrodin other than the fact that I like it. I'll have more of an opinion once I get deeper into it. On another note I still have the idea for the MTG RP if anyone want's me to set it up.
Flame Dragon
Again, I can try to help, but RPs are not something I do. So, went to Comic con and spent a fair amount of time at the magic section with my two friends. Had a good day since I got an Ajani and almost all of the cards I wanted for my infect deck (in fact I got more then I wanted, more>less). I pulled a Masticore that I sold for $12 so that got me some extra packs. Over all got 12 packs 4 singles and a deck box all for $60. Over all I did good. Still one of my friends did A LOT better since we pulled a Koth and sold it for $30, making back most of the money he had spent. It didn't end there though, since at the end of the day he got some more packs and did it again. Luckily he didn't sell it, but since he's going back tomorrow, he might. I really want it and hope he'll trade plainswalkers. Also my friend pulled a Skithiryx, and like I smart person I forgot to buy it of him so he sold that for $6. So right there were two missed opportunities.
Saturn of Elemia
I am in LOVE with Scars of Mirrodin so far. I got the cards for an Infect deck coming in the mail (and I will DESTROY people with them) and I wanna make a Myr deck. Someone at the card shop showed me a dirty trick to gain INFINITE mana using Myrs. You will need: 2x Myr Galvanizer 1x Palladium Myr Step 1; Tap the Palladium Myr for 2 colorless mana (Have 2 floating) Step 2: Pay 1 colorless mana and tap one of the Myr Galvanizers to untap all other Myrs (Have 1 floating) Step 3: Tap the Pladdium Myr again for 2 colorless mana (Have 3 floating) Step 4: Pay 1 colorless mana and tap the other Myr Galvanizer to untap all other Myrs (Have 3 floating) Step 5: Repeats Steps 1-4 until you have the desired amount of mana you want
-Genesis-
Sounds like a good combo in theory, but the question is whether or not you can pull it off in actual gameplay in time for it to be of use.
Sixty
So I recently bought a fat pack of Scars and managed to pull both Mox Opal and a holo Venser. Whoooa. So I'm making a type of deck around it, draft so far. Creatures: 4| Thrummingbird 4| Myr Galvanizer 4| Silver Myr 4| Gold Myr 4| Pallidium Myr 4| Neurok Invisimancer 4| Plated Seastrider 2| Sky-Eel School 2| Darksteel Juggernaut 1| Precursor Golem Instants: 4| Disperse Artifacts: 4| Myr Reservoir 4| Flight Spellbomb 2| Culling Dais 1| Contagion Engine 1| Mox Opal Planeswalkers: 1| Venser, the Sojourner Lands: 8| Island 5| Plains 4| Seachrome Coast Opt to change. Flame Dragon
I have all 5 of the basic plainswalkers. Well, my Jace is the bigger one, but it still counts. Any way, I'm sure some of you guys know this combo, but just thought I'd shair since it is such a troll combo. 1. Mycosynth Lattice makes all permanents artifacts. 2. March of the Machines turns all non-creature artifacts into creatures. (Blacker Lotus is an artifact creature now) 3. Mindslaver opponents turn. 4. During that turn, Mirrorweave targeting your Blacker Lotus creature. 5. ??? 6. Profit!
Saturn of Elemia
I remember Mycosynch Lattice. A LOT of people used that in their Affinity decks back in the days of Darksteel.
Lord Ursus
Black Lotus' Converted Mana Cost is 0. March of the Machine gives the newly made creatures' power and toughness equal to its converted mana cost, which in this case is 0. Therefore, you basicly watch a lot of Black Lotuses die.
