Spoon
I don't understand, Where is the sarcasm and humour in his card, i must have missed it. It just seems like a generic lore to me Even though I never played Metroid, I got the joke. It starts with the word "harmless" and ends with "re-energizing the suit" If that, indeed, was no joke, then I'm terribly sorry and terribly confused Or does that picture on the support card look to you like "re-energizing"? It more looks like "sucking your life force out until you're dead meat!"

Yes I'm sorry but you are in fact mistaken :S they are in fact small and harmless but they have a power within them so in truth there is no humour, can you see my frustration now?? Not with you because you made a mistake but with the situation. Is there no way now that you can re-evaluate the result?

Not with you because you made a mistake but with the situation. I read about them... and there they didn't sound very harmless to me at all. They are the enemy after all, and want your life force... I didn't see anything about re-energizing...Alright then, I didn't want to do it, but since this just isn't a matter of opinion anymore, but, in fact, as it seems, a mistake, I have to cancel my decision. I'll sleep over it and announce my decision tomorrow. Until then, everything is on halt.

Frozenblade
When you announce the winners of the round, could you give a review for my cards even if you don't compare it to anything, or even weigh it against some other card in the contest? Not that I'm not happy to be in the finals, but this is my first contest and I'm doing this mainly to get feedback/get better. Hope it's not a burden and thanks in advance. Serenity the Candyman
Alright. I'm here to put clearity on the situation. In super Metriod for SNES, the story goes where Samus found a baby metriod and through the scientists of earth, was able to find a way to use the metriods as a life force for her suit and in one of the GBA Metriod games, they actually use green and yellow metriod to energize Samus's suit. When i find the name i'll tell youthis is what also Wikipedia says:They are capable of siphoning an undetectable life energy from any life form, generally causing the death of the victim in the process.[9] This energy can also be siphoned from the Metroid in turn, allowing it to be used as a living power source. At the end of the second game in the series, Samus spares a baby Metroid, which adopts her as its parent. This Metroid later reappears in the sequel, and in saving Samus's life is killed by Mother Brain. In Metroid Fusion, Samus is injected with DNA from the infant Metroid in order to save her from being killed by the X (giving her the ability to freely absorb X, but also their suceptibility to extreme cold). Hope this clears things up.

Spoon
Alright then. After I had to take my decision down, I'll try again. Without humour and all. And without it (I'm sorry) the description is, indeed, nice, but not very appealing. It doesn't make this stupid things any interesting. Epona seems (again) like the trusted companion of Link, with a bit of a mysterious glance here and there. Nice one, but it still doesn't blow me away. It's a ted bit superior. On the other hand, the support cards are both pretty good. I'd give this point to Serenity though, for the more creative effect and because that effect also fits the description on the Vanilla. I could also role a die on this one, seriously. But I go with Serenity. Why? Because I had to name a tie breaker, and in this case, it's the pictures. Ched, the picture for Epona is epic... but the one on the support card... I don't know, just meh... I'm sorry, I wish I could let you both into the final (because, to be honest Frozenblade, both cards are superior to yours. The description is short and only a quote, which is funny, but it doesn't say very much. I wished for more originality right there), but that doesn't go with the rules of a tournament after all. Btw.: DheroDogma Pmed my that he doesn't wish to conquer you (Ched) in the finals. Though you don't get your prize earlier, I already congratulate you for your good performance in here ;) The task for the grand final, Frozenblade and Serenity, awaits you in about... 7 hours and 15 minutes :) This decision is final, and I hope everybody is happy with it (more or less). chedbonlahor
Could I just say that Overall I really enjoyed this competition.1. It was well run/organised and fun2. It was highly challenging and enjoyable3. Spoon, to you I ostend by deepest thanks and admiration because I have entered a number of contests on YCM and never have I seen a host take to a contest with such vigour, enthusiasm and profesionalism, so on that not I believe that all entrants should verily thank and even rep you for a sterling job with this contest. Finally on a personal note I wish for some day mabee tomorrow mabee in a year but eventually I would like to make you a chief contest creator because it was a privelage to be part of your contest and I think all YCM members would agree with me, if they entered one of your contests. So....I implore you spoon, that after this contest is over you embark on creating many more as I believe strongly that you could be the best host for contests that YCM has ever seen I will support you all the way. Adieu..... Chedbonlahor
Spoon
Thanks for those kind words :) I'll keep my final words for the real ending of this tournament, but what I can say now: I had fun as well, and you can expect more contests... maybe not that big, but you can expect more... promised

Spoon
Frozenblade, Serenity... are you ready? Your Task for the Grande Finale! For those who came in late: Those 2 are the greatest Video Game Card Makers on YCM. They made it this far, and they won't give up now. Just like real heroes. This is the final decision. Who claims the crown, and who falls deep? However...At the end of each journey, at the end of each heart-breaking path, their lurks evil. Show me this Evil! Make a Monster Card for the main villain of a video game. No movie adaptations or such crap, just pure video game devilishness! This Monster Card can be anything, as long as it's a monster. If it requires a certain card to be summoned (Ritual Spell Card, Fusion or Synchro Materials), post those as well!Still 48 hours to complete your task. If both cards are ready earlier and both players agree, I'll start judging earlier as well.Bring it! This is it, the final round. Just do your best, and we'll see who's truly the greatest ;) So long, Spoon
Serenity the Candyman
I had a feeling this was the final task. Lore:This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by sacrificing 1 quarter of your Life Points (rounded to the nearest 100) and sacrificing 1 fiend-type monster on your side of the field. This card cannot be destroyed by battle. If "Dante, Son of Sparta" is on your side of the field, you can Sacrifice this card and "Dante, Son of Sparta" to Special Summon "Sparta, Demon Slayer" from your Deck in face-up Attack Position. If "Dante, Son of Sparta" is on your opponent's side of the field, remove this card and "Dante, Son of Sparta" from the game. Im up for a early judging
chedbonlahor
This would have been my submission, Ganon from the LOZ series: Whenever this monster destroys another monster as a result of battle, inflict 300 x the Level Stars of the destroyed monster, as direct damage to your opponent's Life Points (Battle damage is applied normally). Frozenblade
For the WIN!!! haha [spoiler=lore for the card]This card cannot be attacked or designated as a target as long as you control another monster. Once during either player's turn, when a card you control is sent to the graveyard, you can special summon 1 level 4 or lower warrior type monster from your deck or graveyard. Straight from the asylum (the Arkham Asylum). Decided to depict his ability to summon-up goons from every nook & cranny

Spoon
The Grand Final: Serenity vs. Frozenblade - Vergil, Son of Sparta vs. Joker, the Insane Maniac Yeah, that's one epic battle! Joker versus Vergil, god, I instantly wish for a DCxCapcom game  But let me say one thing before we end this: Both of you did a great job throughout the entire tournament. I kneel down before you ;) As we got that out of the way, let's just head straight to the action, from top to bottom: Vergil, Son of Sparta: The name is the obvious choice, the "Son of Sparta", along with the same sub-name for Dante shows the strong... "bond", in one way or the other, between those two. Details are all there, nothing to complain about here. The picture is epic, a very nice action shot, the blurred effect at the edge's is nice overall, but maybe a bit exaggerated. Fiend as a type is the obvious choice again, ATK and DEF are belanced in relation to the level. So, let's look at the effect in detail: "Cannot be Normal Summoned" is just the right choice, of course it shouldn't be that easy, the requirements, claiming life points aka blood from the player, fit in, though the fiend monster doesn't necessarily. I guess he can stand very well on his own, without henchmen. Maybe more blood and less henchmen would have been better, but it's a minor complain. "Cannot be destroyed by battle" is almost necessary for this guy, he seriously takes a lot, even in a fight against his brother. "Summoning Sparta" is nice and all, but it would be even nicer if you would acknowledge him in form of a card. I didn't ask that from you, just the requirements, but if you summon a certain card, it would have been a good idea to put it in. Again, I didn't ask for it, so I should look at myself for that. However, the effect fits of course. The interaction with his brother here takes the main attention, which, again, shows the close (though not very friendly) relationship between those two. You showed that very clear, and it's a major plus. The only thing I miss about this card is an effect that just blows me away. Of course, you made a great job picturing this character, but you could've gone one step beyond by making him break rules and do stuff I did not expect. Overall, this card is a great card. I didn't expect less ;) The Insane Maniac: Again, from top to bottom: Leaving out the actual name of the villain creates a kind of intense and mysterious feeling. And that's what the Joker is, not more and not less. 2 things that I have to criticize about the details: it shouldn't say "Me" as the creator. It's not that hard to type in your actual nick there, and it does make this card look less serious. "Video Final" is also not a very good description for the Edition this card is expected to be in. I know, I'm nitpicking here, but I have to consider everything on this high niveau. The picture is awesome. It's the Joker in his very best shape, it's downright creepy. The only thing that bothers me is the writing down there. I know it's the signature of the artist, and if it wouldn't ruin the picture at some point, it's a good thing to keep in to acknowledge the work the artist did there. But you don't see them on actual cards as well, so if you want to name the artist of this, do it in the details or under the card. The relation of level and ATK/DEF is balanced and works out, but what disturbs me is the actual level of the card. This makes the Joker look like a pushover, that has to rely on henchmen to gain the upper hand... and as we all know (especially if we got the chance to actually play the Joker in said game) this is simply not true. His ATK may be at the very max for his level without giving him any drawbacks, but not being stronger than any of the summoned henchmen just doesn't seem right to me. In addition, he's a Synchro Monster. Level 4 Synchro Monsters are rare enough, because sometimes it isn't very easy to summon those, but this one would've definitely deserved a higher level. Onto the effect: "Cannot be attacked" is of course a wise decision, as he's the puppetmaster in the background. Sadly, that's all he seems to do in this cards description. He summonds more badguys, but doesn't put up a fight himself. I really hoped for more, especially after seing this picture. It's not a bad card by any means, but I did expect a little more from this character choice :( I guess I covered everything, so let's announce the winner... *drumroll*... the winner of this nice and colorful cup iiiiiiis.... Serenity Congratulations. The prizes will be handed out as soon as possible (might take some time for the third place Ched, because I'm limited to 5 Reps a day), and I will leave some final words before this is over. If a mod should read this, please don't close this Contest just yet, Give me at least 12 hours... thank you ;) So long, Spoon
Frozenblade
So... Thanks Spoon for everything... Well, there's very little (if anything) that wasn't said so I'll keep this simple *ahem-ahem*Thanks for the opportunity and would just like to emphasize what others have said about how awe inspiring the contest and you as host (and judge) were. I honestly thought I did put my nick were it usually goes but I guess I've too lazy lately.

Thanks for your kind words :) And now, my final ones (I actually prepared a speech for this... you can tell me that I'm mad, I don't mind  ) Before we end this, let me say a few last words: I had fun, and I hope you had it as well. We saw a lot of new faces here, promising new card makers, faced some problems and saw glorious victories. I hope as well that you didn't dislike my kind of rating, which doesn't have a scale or some fix parameters, but counts more on my personal preferations. Sometimes the decisions were tough, I can't deny that. It sometimes wasn't very fair. I want to hear your opinion on that, here or via PM, if I should keep that style up, because you can expect more contests, that's assured. Maybe I overburdened myself this one time when I said that I know many games, because between just „knowing“ and „loving“ each of them is a huge difference... I apologize for that hick-up in round 3, ched and Serenity. It's kind of sad that we didn't get to see a proper second semi-final and small final after all, but I can understand DHeroDogma, who got thrown in the cold waters right here. Still, the task I liked the most didn't come up...Overall, you were a great competition, the cards were all (okay... most of them) great and inspiring. I'm glad we made it at all, since this is my first contest, I couldn't even know if I get enough contestants :D But thanks to you, the new ones, the old ones, this was a great contest, at least in my eyes. I could see the heart you put into the cards and games you like, and it would be an honor to have all of you in the Pop Culture Section of this forum once in a while. Without you, it would've been just half the fun ;) Thanks. And I should shut the hell up now, because nobody reads this anyway  See you again soon, yours truly, Spoon ...........
