"It's a plessure to talk to you too, I'm Alexander "Lex" Watson!" Lex said with a smile and accepted Elena's hand shake, but something that Elena had said caught his ear. "'House'? Are you muggle-born or at least half-blood yourself? I can't imagine a full-blood watching a muggle television show." He then turned to Selene. "And of course it's a pleasure to meet you too!" He looked at the teacher's at the front, disappointed at the lack of Flitwick. He liked that little guy.

"Pleasure to you too..." Selene had just begun eating her dinner. She watched Angelique again, there was some mystical beauty around her that had obviously seized Tenacity...she shrugged. Why would she care? She berated herself. She did NOT like Tenacity.

Or did she? She told herself to stop thinking and to just eat.

She looked at the rest of the staff. The staffing seemed to be the same. "Flitwick died over the summer apparently...poor man...he was a good teacher..."

Lex was just about to take piece of his dinner when he heard what Selene said. He hadn't stayed in touch with any of his magic friends during the summer, and didn't know about Flitwick's fate. He quickly turned around and looked at Selene with a sad look on his face.

"He's dead?" This really struck Lex. Flitwick was his favorite teacher and actually the only one that he had shared his secret with personally. (The other teachers should know since he's a registered Animagus, but he hasn't told any of them personally) "How did he die? Last time I saw him he looked very healthy!"

"I'm half-veela, half-wizard but I live in a small muggle village." Elena said to Lex and with a quick look to Selen, she added slyly, "Is that interesting?" Without waiting for a response she carried on speaking to Lex. "I watch 'House' because it's one of the best things I've seen. Muggle shows and music are so much better than the wizarding equivalents. Even muggle sayings. I don't care what my mum says, they're just better. I had to beg her to let me have a TV and a DVD player but they've been the only things getting me through the summer holidays. There's nothing to do where I live." Elena placed her elbows on her knees and rested her head in her hands. Noting Selene's comment on Flitwick, however, made her shoot back up. "Dead? Why hadn't we been told? We're in his house!" And with her mouth agape she reached behind her, picking up her plate, utensils, and some roast chicken, and started to eat off of her lap.

"He was alive since the first war," Selene reminded him. "Oh, cool, half veela!" she exclaimed. "That's really cool." she remarked, her thoughts turning back to Tenacity. Would he be attracted--? No. She didn't care. "He died of old age," she turned back to Lex. "It's really sad, I know, but even wizards die sometimes..." she thought of her grandfather. The wizard in the family, died of heart failure at the meager age of seventy seven.

She sighed.

Lex looked at Elena. So that's why he had a hard time taking his eyes off her. He saw that a Gryffindor girl was looking at him awakwardly and realized that he ahd been staring at the half-Veela for too long for it to be normal, so he pretended that she had gaven him a good idea and did the same and started eating from his lap.

"So that means that new girl, Angelique, I think, will be the Ravenclaw head, or will somebody else take over?"

Tenacity sat in silence. He'd clearly offended the girl next to him. He bowed his head, feeling guilty at what he'd said to Selene, he could tell, having seen her hair fade from the obviously happy blonde shade. Tenacity almost felt like crying. He was able to hold back his tears though. When Elena approached and asked him the question as to weather or not he was Australian, Tenacity looked at her, spoke the words "Actually, I'm half-English, half-Scottish." And with that he bowed his head again, but saw Selene's pink. She was starting to cheer up. He didn't know why he felt so guilty. Then he realised. Elena was So...beautiful... it was similar to Angelique's beauty, but the guilt was resounding in his mind. He still couldn't help but look.He didn't feel happy about it, but he couldn't pull his eyes away from her, and really he didn't want to. As much as he was attracted to Selene on a personality level, he couldn't help but take interest in the half-veela on a beauty level. And he knew it was her Veela power's hold over him. He let out a strained "I'm sorry..." to everyone there.

Selene's hair turnedblond again, forgetting about all the veela-ness surrounding them. "Well anyways, Tenacity, I knew there was something about your accent..." she smiled. "Your scottish accent is cute..." she was finished with her dinner, always the fast eater, and turned so that she was leaning against the table and was able to talk to all of them.

"You know, something about Angelique makes me think that she's a veela too..." she toned down her voiceslightly as she said this.

"Her? A veela? Probably. You don't get that many glassy, gaping looks without having something up your sleeve." Finishing her food, Elena placed the plate and utensils back on the table. Wiping her mouth with a handkerchief, she pointed to Selene and Tenacity. "Are you two an item?" she said bluntly, "Because you seem to have the required lack of subtlety. But don't mind me, I'm just intruding aren't I?" Elena gave a sweet smile and turned around to face the, still present, forest of food. Taking a piece of lamb and proceeding to eat, she sang quietly under her breath, "You're a head case with a smile, Can't stop to make up your mind," (Leg of Lamb by Queens of the Stone Age)

Selene's hair turned bright pink. "N-n-no..." she stuttered out. "N-not y-yet...oh CRAP." she realized what she had just said.

Luckily, McGonagall was already excusing everyone off of the tables, and off for bed. She covered up her confusion by standing up and grabbing her bag, her hair still bright pink.

She walked out as fast as she could, then stopped to wait for Tenacity, wondering if he caught what she had said.

Smiling after hearing Selene's reaction to her rather impromptu question, Elena stood up after hearing McGonagalls message to leave and quickly stole a piece of bread pudding that was on the table before leaving. After leavong the hall with the other students, she noticed Selene and strode over to her. "Are you really serious about that "Not yet"?" Elena whispered to Selene, "Because if you're not and he heard..." Elena cut her sentence off and waited for Selene's reply, or at least until Tenacity came out of the hall.

Selene shrugged helplessly to Elena's question. "I don't know, I really don't know..." her hair turned a puce color in her confusion. "I don't know..." she repeated as she saw Tenacity and walked over to him. "Sorry about that, i was caught off guard..." she explained, still quite befuddled. She walked the way with him to the Gryffindor common room.

She saw the first years being escorted around the castle with wide eyes, looking at the huge expanse of room that was dedicated to the portraits of all and the moving staircases. She smiled as she remembered five years ago, it had been her that was looking like that.

"Not yet?" Tenacity asked with a smile. "Now might be as good a time as any to tell you I'm interested in you." The boy grinned massively. Tenacity didn't get what he was doing by telling her he was intersted. He was, he had been for a couple of years now. The boy looked Selene up and down, her hair bright pink her body radiantly beautiful. Tenacity wasn't sure how to act at this point. Should he ask the girl out? Should he just disimiss it and move on? He decided it would be best to wait for Selene's reaction.

Selene blushed deeply.

"Uhm...thanks?" she had no idea how to react. "And...if that's made a question...then yes..." she continued to walk at a fast pace down the hallways, bypassing countless portraits on the way to the common room.

She didn't know what to do; it was the welcome feast night of the first day of her fifth year!

But still...it WAS Tenacity...

After being sorted, Aiden sat at the edge of the Slytherin table and didn't talk to anyone as he ate. Halfway through his meal, halfway down the table, Aiden's eyes popped wide-open and he would've gasped and dropped his spoon if he hadn't regained control of himself in the next 2 seconds. Halfway up the table, Aiden spotted his worst fear.....The one person who knew him the most as Corbett and had the most chance of exposing Aiden's cover; Aiden's former best friend, Trey Bulwark.

 

Aiden quickly regained control of himself and turned his eyes back to his food as every word Trey said halfway up the table rang in his head. He was talking to a Slytherin girl and another boy that Aiden didn't know. As Corbett, Aiden didn't have too many friends, but Trey was smarter than most Slytherins and thus made it into Aiden's good books fairly easily. He was just as intelligent as Aiden was grade-wise and knew him as Corbett very well; from his favorite foods to his subtle bad habits. To evade suspicion, Aiden tried his best not to look at Trey and continued eating until it was called for everyone to go to the common room and get ready for bed.

 

Aiden followed the crowd of Slytherins to the Slytherin common room, while his mind was lost in thought and contemplation. As his best and only friend, Trey had known Aiden better than anyone, both were very smart and came from similar backgrounds. Aiden and Trey even shared the same hatred of cats. If anyone could figure out Aiden's identity, it would be Trey. "My disguise MIGHT fool him for awhile, but it wouldn't withstand close-up scrutiny. I won't be able to keep my cover unless I stay away from him." Aiden grinded his teeth in frustration, "This makes things even MORE complicated, not only will I need to evade the owner of the cat I threatened to toss out the window and any friends she can convince, I'll also need to change myself completely from Corbett to evade Trey!!"Aiden almost grasped his hair in frustration. "This will take a lot of thought, planning, and precision. If I make one mistake, I'm done for." As they reached the Slytherin common room, Aiden avoided the area from which Trey stood and walked to bed and laid down the moment he had the chance and Aiden used the entire night thinking of ways to struggle through his situation.

As they continuted to walk, Tenacity smiled. "It's official then...Well, if you really want it to be." Tenacity smiled awkwardly. It was a goofey look on his normally confident face. He felt himself extend his hand to Selene, not expecting her to take it, but hoping she would, He looked into her eyes, but he couldn't help casting a glance at her hair, watching for a change in color. This was everything he'd hoped for in the year in one moment. He didn't even consider the fact that it might not work out. Tenacityhad by now, stopped completely dead in the hallway. This moment was more important then a trip to the common room.

finnishing what was left on his plate, Gabe looked over to Hammish, who had already finnished his own meal. Yawning, Gabe rasied his arms above his head, cracking his back , 'Man , Iam so tired.' He sighed, slumping forward and leaning on the table, beside his empty plate and goblet. 'Im going to head up, to the common room.' Gabe yawned again, this time standing up, and picking up his case of butter beer. 'You comming, or staying down here for a while?' He asked extending his hand down to Hammish. A soft blush crept across Gabe's face and his hair turned pink, as Hammish took his hand, and walked hand in hand with him out of the great hall, to the sounds of muffled wispers, and even someone wolf whistling.

 

'Finnaly!!' Gabe laughed as he placed his case of butterbeer down beside his bed, as he threw himself down on his bed, and brough Cat out of his robe pocket, and let him run across to the pillows. Kicking his shoes off, Gabe lazily pulled his outter robe off, and pulled his shirt over his head, and kicked his trousers off, and crawled under the covers. Letting out a content sigh, he looked across a Hammish sitting on his bed smiling. 'What you smiling at?' Gabe teased, his hair turning purple, as he smiled and pulled out two butter beers, throwing one to Hammish he cracked the other one open. 'to another year at hoggwarts' he smiled holding his bottle up.

Selene's tips of her hair were still a little pink as she recovered from the shock of the revelation and took this hand. They walked, and her legs thanked her for this, at a much slower pace for the rest of the way to the Gryffindor common room. She wanted to go to bed early, and wondered if her new boyfriend would mind.

"D'you mind..." she gave a massive yawn and her hair turned gray. "Oh, I hate that color..." she said, looking at herself in the mirror. "D'you mind if I go to bed early tonight? I'm really tired..."

Lex along with a large group of other Ravenclaw students, had finally arrived at the Ravenclaw Tower and the door leading to the Ravenclaw Common Room after a, in Lex' opinion, way too long trip up the stairs. He was now almost certain that the stairs hated him, as they had developed a habit of moving whenever he was about to reach the top. One time he had actually fell because of this (luckily from the second floor) and woke up the next day in the hospital wing. When they stood before the door he realized that he, or someone else had to answer the riddle. Hopefully someone else would get it right, since he already felt that he wouldn't be able to think right now.

"I were once in a talk with a squib and a wizard." The eagle knocker said. "The wizard told me that he was hit by a killing curse a week ago and that he claimed that the crew at St. Mungos was very surprised by his survival and quick recovery." The students looked at eachother and started to whisper things to eachotehr when they heard the statement. Most of them thought that the eagle had grown lazy and was going to ask them a 'True or False' question. But before one of the younger students was about to answer the eagle continued. "The squib said that she had seen a witch being attacked by two dementors, and that it had been the most terrifying thing she had ever seen. I added to the conversation; I've traveled the world and visited all of the major schools for young witches and wizards. One of us is lying. Who is it?"

"The wizard!" Almost everyone, except Lex and some older students, said in chorus.

"You are all wrong, but still so right." The eagle sighed. "Does anyone who did not answer want to try?"

 

((I'll let some other Ravenclawer try to figure it out first, I do have an answer though.))

Standing outside the Ravenclaw common room and hearing the question the Eagle uttered Elena thought of the answer immediately. "Lets assume that this conversation did not take place and is merely a question." Elena started loudly, "The squib would be the liar as there has been a recorded survival from the killing curse which, of course, is Harry Potter and as Squibs have no magical power they have no ability to see Dementors. However, if you are speaking literally and you are truly saying that this conversation did take place, both would likely be liars as would you. This is so as there is no other recorded survival of the killing curse of other than the previously mentioned and squibs, also previously mentioned, would not be able to see dementors." Elena ended and drew some heavy breaths. It had taken some thinking but as long as she was right, she could enter and rest her tired out mind.

Lex looked at Elena, and then back at the eagle.

"It's a trick! All of you are lying! You're a knocker, you couldn't have travelled the world, the squib would not be able to see the dementors and the wizard surviving the killing curse is just rubbish!" He looked at Elena again. "But that's what she said..." Some of the students giggled a little, but Lex didn't realize why. The eagle, however, nodded.

"You two are correct." The door opened and allowed the bunch of Ravenclaws to pass.

 

((If anyone wondered they thought that Lex was funny because he said 'that's what she said'. Lex doesn't realize this, though.))

"That's fine, Selene, if you're tired, you should sleep, I probably should too." Tenacity knew he'd sleep like a baby tonight. Oh, the day he'd had. He turned to look into the eyes of his new girlfriend once again as they arived at the Fat Lady's portrait. Tenacity was too distracted to recall the Gryffindor password right now. His look turned into an appologetic one, and he hoped Selene had got the password. Still, he took this oppertunity to lock his arms around the girl, hoping that she wouldn't, for some reason, push him away.

Hammish raised his bottle. "And to us!" He said, they were the first two back in the dorms, everyone else was still out mingling in the common room. Hammish walked over to his boyfriend's bed and sat himself down beside Gabe, placing his arm around the boy and taking another petite mouthful of butterbeer. He was so glad to be here, he adored the castle, he adored the dorms, everything was so much more comfortable here then in his bedroom at home in the leaky cauldren, but most of all, he loved being here with Gabe, it was everyting the boy could have asked for and more. With this thought he turned Gabe's head toward him and gave a soft peck on the boy's lips.

Selene decided to hold him there, but said the password anyways, "Noveaux", and they stepped inside to the all-to-familiar comfy room. THe firelight gave flickering shadows on the walls, and there were chintz, comfy armchairs scattered around with tables for students to do their homework. Most of the children were still mingling; some in the corner were negotiating a business of selling some vile-looking thing.

Selene yawned again. "Well I'm off to be...see you later, Tenacity." she gave him a large smile then headed up the girl's side.

"Thank heavens." Said Elena with a deep sigh of relief. After realising what Lex actually said, she giggled with the rest, turned to him and winked. After heading into the common room with the other Ravenclaws, Elena sprinted into the dormitory, changed into her pajamas amd took a seat on the largest sofa in the common room. Conjuring a large, fluffy blanket from nowhere, she covered herself with it and rested her head on the arm, staring dolefully into the fire that blazed merrily inthe fireplace. Even though her fifth year had started again in this wonderous school, she still felt rather distant to her fellow students and the magical world in general.

Blushing, his hair changed to match the color growing across his cheeks, as Hammish lent in and kissed him, feeling him pull away, Gabe smiled. Pulling the smaller boy closer to him, being carefull not to spill their butter beer, Gabe reached out to the table for his wand, and pointed it at the curtains surrounding his bed and muttered under his breath, as the curtians slowly drew themselves shut. God Gabe loved magic. Slowily taking another sip of his butter beer, Gabe smiled, his hair turning golden. He really loved being back at school. He'd never felt more at home, than he did right this very moment, laying on his bed, with hammish in his arms, cat on his pillow and a bottle of butter beer in his hand.
