Now he Synchro Summons, Izo thought to himself As I suspected, he was waiting for me to make a move first. But still, that Armour Master is something else, can't be destroyed in battle and takes no damage either, I'm going to have a hard time dealing with that.

 

Max's next play quickly dealt with Izo's face down card.

"Impressive," he said "I suppose it's my fault for playing such an obvious trap."

He smiled innocently, waiting for Max to attack him.

 

He did so, sending each of his Blackwing monsters towards him.

I thought so, Izo thought.

"I play the effect of my Breaker Wall!" He said "And block your Sirocco the Dawn!"

Sirocco's attack collided with the strange shapes around Izo's field and they shattered, leaving the rest of the way clear for Max's other two monsters to attack. Izo flinched a bit as each attack hit and his life points dropped to 4400.

"Not bad," he said smugly "But you've activated my Virtual Crusader's effect!"

A semi-transparent keyboard suddenly appeared in front of Izo's monster and it immediately began typing away at it.

"When I take damage to my life points, Virtual Crusader let's me draw a card for every 500 points taken," Izo explained "Then for each trap card I've drawn, you take 500 points of damage."

Izo's monster finished typing, the word '7' lighting up above the keyboard.

"I took a total of 3600 damage," Izo explained "Rounded down to 3500 and divided by 500 equals 7, so I draw 7 cards."

Izo picked up the appropriate amount of cards from his deck, showing them to his opponent.

 

"I've drawn 3 trap cards," he explained, showing Jar of Greed, Data Copy and Spirit Barrier to his opponent "Meaning you take 1500 points of damage."

Izo's Virtual Crusader raised both hand, firing a stream of blue energy at Max.

 

"Now for my actual turn," Izo said, drawing a card "I summon Virtual Striker!"

A new monster emerged next to Virtual Crusader, looking similar but wielding a small gun in one hand [ATK: 1700]

"Now I play the equip spell card Digitize, and equip it to Breeze the zephyr!" A stream of data suddenly surrounded Max's monster "As long as he's equipped with this card, Breeze the zephyr is treated as a Data monster, and when he's destroyed by battle Digitize returns to my hand. Go, Virtual Striker, attack Breeze the zephyr!"

 

Izo's monster raised its gun, firing three short bursts at Max's monster, destroying it. [1700 - 1100 = 600]

"Well, I guess that'll do," Izo said "But man, I guess it wasn't so smart to draw so many cards, guess I'll have to ditch some.

Izo took a number of cards from his had and sent them to his graveyard till his hand was at 6.

"Your move," Izo said politely.

seeing what took danny so long allen limps out of his dorm room. to look for danny while walking to the red dorm rooms allen kept hearing voices in his head. "i can give you power, more then you can ever imagine." 'offer yourself to me" allen starting goin berserk allen yells "GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" the voice finally stopped when he saw danny dueling some person. it doesnt seem danny was doin any good. allen was there to cheer him on though. "DANNY YOU CAN BEAT HIM! I KNOW YOU CAN!" well allen hopes that danny can beat him.

Danny looked over and saw Allen cheering for him. Danny just had to win this duel. There was no way he could lose. If only he could draw the card he needed. Danny got the strange feeling from his duel disk and out of the corner of his eye he saw the his deck sparkle. Danny drew a card hoping it would be the card he needed. Danny looked at the card and Smiled to himself. He shouted over to Allen. "Don't worry I've got this duel in the bag"

 

Danny summoned Dragon Knight (ATK:2300) to the field using its special effect. Danny then Special summoned Death Knight (ATK:1700) and Hell Knight (ATK:1300) and Synchro Summoned his ace monster Dragon Lord (ATK:3000). Danny then destroyed the M P's monster inflicting 200 points of Damage. Danny then Attacked Directly with Hell Knight. Danny entered the 2nd main phase and used Hell Knights effect to return it to his hand.

Danny: 1200

Hand: 2 cards.

 

M P drew one card and activated the effect of there Synchro Monster in the graveyard. By paying 500 life points the monster was re-summoned (ATK:2500). The person then activated a field card in her hand increasing the Attack of her monster to 3200. Allen looked over in Shock that the person had boosted there Monsters Attack points to more than Danny's Dragon Lord. But the person wasn't quite done and activated a spell by removing 2 monsters from her graveyard and boosting there Monsters Attack to 4200 enough to destroy Danny's monster and take out his life points in one go. The persons Monster Attacked Danny's Dragon Lord. All Looked lost. Allen looked over in horror as the giant monster set about attacking Danny. What Allen didn't notice was the twinkle in Danny's eye. This was what Danny had been waiting for. "Not so fast i activate the second effect of Hell Knight in my hand. You see if a monster attacks a Knight monster on my side of the field i can send Hell Knight in my hand to the graveyard. To make the monster thats being attacked gain Attack points equal to the monster attacking the knight monster. So Game over for you." Said Danny casually.

Allen watched in Awe as Danny's Dragon Lord gained 4200 Attack points increasing its attack to 7200. Danny's monster destroyed the attacking monster. Allen watched as the mysterious persons life points dropped from 2500 to 0 in one move.

 

"Told you I wouldn't lose" Danny said looking over towards Allen. Danny looked back to see the person he had just dueled but saw that the person had disappeared.

"Well that was weird" Danny said picking his stuff up off the floor. Allen and Danny then Both headed to the Yellow Dorm.

 

 

Meanwhile the person Danny had just dueled entered the Ocean Blue dorm to be welcomed by 3 other people. A Female Second Year student took a black cloak off and hung it up.

"Well did you get Danny's deck off of him?" Questioned a Tall Boy the oldest of the four.

"No, I Had Him until his friend showed up and then Danny managed to pull a turn around. He is better than he use to be though." replied a young Girl who had just removed the Black cloak.

"Father will not be pleased." Said the eldest again.

"Looks like its our turn then." Replied two twins. One Boy, one Girl.

allen and danny walk back to the yellow dorms, allen was quite impressed with dannys game. allen will have to play him one day. at night allen kept having dreams of his past. from the time living on the streets to imprisoned in the facility. getting beaten up in the facility by both inmates and prisoners. it ruined allen's life and at such a young age he was in the facility. allen wakes up around 5:45 am didnt get enough sleep....danny was still sleeping. he woke up and washed his face and looked over his deck. just amazed how the former leader of the lizards gave it to him on such notice then ends up dying later by suicide. was it his deck that was making him crazy and enraged all the time? allen wasnt even sure anymore. allen left his deck on his table side and went out for a walk. while walking on the beach allen drop his deck box on the sand, he picks it up and find his deck in his box. he could of sworn he left it in his table. maybe allen was thinking to much of it and he returns to the dorm room.

Izo was a good duellist and his cards were a Blackwing's worst nightmare. Blackwings were designed to Recruit, Search, then Destroy. Currently the only monster that can destroy is his Zephyr.

 

"Ahhh, you are good but not good enough, Negate Attack!" Max's trap flipped up. "Your attack is stopped saving my Zephyr and your battle phase ends. My turn!" Max looked at his soon-to-be-five one carded hand "I activate hand destruction! Both our hands are sent to the Graveyard and we draw five new ones. Your Digitize is gone because I active another Spell! Raptor Wing Strike and send my Zephyr to the deck! I special summon another Zephyr because I got from hand destruction's effect. I normal summon Blackwing - Blizzard the Far North! Attack!"

After the duel Danny and Allen headed back to the dorm room. Danny laid down on the bed talking to Allen until he fell asleep. Danny was having a nightmare about his old family. He was dreaming about his brothers and sisters. He was dreaming about a time he had hidden his deck and the youngest of his siblings found them and challenged him to a duel for keeps. If Danny won he got to keep his deck but if he lost the deck was taken away from him and sold. Danny put up a good fight for the first two turns and managed to reduce his sisters life points to 2100. Then his sister summoned a monster and Synchro summoned an even more powerful monster and took out the rest of Danny's life points. Danny sat and watched knowing there was nothing he could do as his deck was taken away and sold. Danny woke up with tears rolling down his cheeks to see Allen staring at him. Danny knew who he had dueled yesterday. His sister Rose! Danny's family knew he was here and they didn't like it they were trying to take his deck away from him. But this time was different he wouldn't let them take away his deck. Danny sat and explained everything to Allen.

Izo sighed calmly as the attacks hit him, his life points hitting zero.

"That was close," he said "If you hadn't activated Hand Destruction, I'd have been able to use me Striker's effect to play Spirit Barrier."

He looked at the remaining cards in his hand and shrugged.

"But as it is, there wasn't anything in my hand that couldn't helped anyway," he said "I guess I was right in thinking I'd need to fine tune my deck upon coming here."

IC: Max smiled at Izo and walked over to him. "Hey, you were good, really good, I actually put that Hand Destruction in as a last resort. I hope to see more of your skill." Max showed him the last face-down, Fake Feather. "If you did get the Barrier I would've been beaten, tell ya what. How about we call it friends and the score's a draw. Level ground. I hope to see more of your "DATA" monsters in future. But they were the perfect weapon against my Blackwings. Blackwings are designed to Recruit, Search, then Destroy. Bought this last week." Max showed him a new Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame. "Then realised I already had three. You can have it if you want. May come in useful as a reminder or even in a duel. You don't have to take it." He glanced over to another duel. "Note to self; need more anti-traps."

Izo smiled back.

"I suppose it's really my own fault for using my Crusader's effect and showing it to you," he replied brightly "I guess it was unavoidable."

Izo looked down at the Fake Feather trap Max showed him.

Quite the troublesome card against a deck like mine, he thought to himself.

 

"Sounds good to me," Izo replied to Max's offer "Data monsters require a lot of skill and creativity to use correctly, something which I hope to gain while I'm here. Till them..."

He took the Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame that Max offered to him, looking down at it with interest.

"...I reckon I will keep this, if nothing else for a reminded of how much I need to improve if I want to duel you again."

He smiled up at Max again, stowing his deck away along with the card Max gave to him.

Mike's class finished up for the day. It was getting late. Mike headed on over to the teacher's dorms where he stays in. The other teachers had already arrived and talking to each other and discussing the first day of classes. The Chancellor approached him. Well I hope you had a better day thann I had The Chancellor was normally a cheery guy so for him to be down in the dumps was disturbing. You aren't normally down in the dumps, so what happened today Some students got into a fight. One of the boys was deeply disturbed by something, I don't know what though. I believe his name was Allen. Mike remembered that name. One of my students went by that name, I did notice that the other students semmed to reject him. Perhaps he will find a friend. It's best to leave that to chance Mike went over to the TV and turned on the Duel monsters Quarter Finals.

Izumi had been slightly surprised at the welcome the turbo duellists had given her. Since she didn't have her own runner, nor had she even taken part in a turbo duel, she expected that they might not be keen on having her around, and being female when most turbo duellists were male could only have made the problem worse, however the fact that she knew a lot about the machines, and how to repair them, did somewhat endear her to a group of older students who focused on the duels to the extent of almost neglecting their runners. By the time she left she'd made a few new friends, several of whom wanted her as their regular mechanic.

 

On the way back a boy from one of her classes passed her one of her dismantled toys, which must have fallen out of her back earlier, though he ran away before she could thank him. As she entered her room, she switched on the TV to see a tournament was in progress. As she reached for the computer she was working on before, in order to test it, she idly wondered if one of her brothers might be in the tournament. They hadn't said anything, but with two of them having moved out of the family home it wasn't impossible for them to have taken part so far without her noticing.

The pupils of Duel Academy began to gather in the Great Hall, in the fear of dirtying their new uniforms on the first day. The clamour of laughing and shouting filled the air, breaking the once fragile silence that had hung there only a few hours ago. Zune put down his book and sighed. He watched the large crowd of red, blue and yellow desperately pushing past each other, eager to make themselves heard.

 

"My deck's the best!" shouted an older boy, his face painted with facial hair.

 

Must be the second year. Runs a Gladiator Beast Deck, thought Zune to himself.

 

"Check this one out, my Gladiator Beast Murmillo!" he proclaimed again, almost jumping out of the heart of the crowd.

 

Zune hid a smile as he began to walk away from the evergrowing madness happening in the middle of the hall.

If I remember correctly, the Staff room has a coffee machine, but the staff should all be arriving at this hall in approximately 2 minutes. That gives me at least 3 minutes to enter and get myself a Double Cappuccino Light before the rooms are locked by the automated locking machine.

Clouded with thoughts, Zune did not realise he had bumped into an older Sand Yellow pupil. He brushed himself off, as the Sand Yellow pupil rose from the floor, his eyes red with anger.

 

"Whaddya think you're doing, freshman?" he grunted, poking one of his abnormally thick fingers at Zune.

 

Zune chuckled, avoiding direct eye contact with the older boy.

Leaving year, can't be very good at duelling. Has no friends? Think's he's tough... ID card poking out of his pocket, his name is Johnny

 

"Don't smile at me ya jerk! Get outta here"

And with that, Johnny began making his way out of the hall. When suddenly, he felt a hand crash on his shoulder. Johnny spun around to find Zune's hand gripping it, his eyes hidden by his long white hair.

 

"Duel me."

 

Zune's mouth barely moved as he said the words, a grimace beginning to form as he tightened his grip on the jacket.

 

"And why would I do that?" asked Johnny, shaking him off.

 

"To your right, four Ocean Blue girls are staring at us. I know you've had your eye on them for quite some time. Wouldn't they be impressed if you thrashed a child like me?"

He emphasized child, brushing his hair back to reveal coal black eyes.

"Or are you scared to lose?"

 

On that note, Johnny and Zune activated their Duel Disks simultaneously. The once mad crowd of people had all stopped, as they crowded to watch the duel which was about to take place. Johnny sneered at Zune, however Zune's faced twisted into deep concentration. He seemed distant, as if he had just stopped working completely.

 

"Let's go."

"DUEL!"

Danny woke up the next morning in his and Allen's dorm room. Danny got showered and got dressed. Danny stood at the bedroom window thinking of last nights events when he dueled his sister and nearly lost. He had told Allen everything from his past. He had even told Allen about his parents something he hadn't told anyone except Garth. Danny knew if he managed to beat his brothers and sisters, his parents would either come for him them selves or send people after him. He knew with his Dad been the current world champion and his Mum being rated as the 4th best duelist in the world they would have a far reaching power. Danny looked at his watch and realized he was late. Danny grabbed his Duel Disk and deck and ran out of his dorm. Danny was running at full pace when he ran straight into the girl he had seen the other day with the screwdriver.

Izumi woke up early the next morning, despite having been up quite late dismantling a couple of other toys whilst watching the tournament. None of her brothers were in the tournament, not that she'd expected them to be in it and her not know about it. She spent a hour or so modifying her deck, only to come out with exactly the same deck she started with an hour before. With another hour before class, she packed up her stuff and decided to head out for a walk around the grounds. They were rather expansive, and Izumi wanted to get an idea of the whole site relatively quickly.

 

Half an hour later, she headed back towards the main building. There was a card shop open, and she planned to have a look, to see if there were any new cards that might be useful.

"Well see you around." Max walked away. Better check on the newbies before they decimate the dormitories he thought to himself, flicking through his deck. Hmm, if I add Double Summon to my deck to summon one of my Shuras, then summon a tuner and attack using Shura's effect to summon another monster, I'd easily be able to Synchro in my first turn and lead to victory over my opposition. Max stopped in front of the entrance to dormitory 47 and looked inside. All was fine for now. Now to the card store.

In the card store there were all the packs, boosters and decks you can think of. Max walked over to the counter. "So how do we purchase these? With Dollars?"

"Actually," replied Adam, the owner. "You use DP, or Duellist Points. You start with 2500, and gain 1000 for every win and 500 for every loss."

"So that means I have 3500 DP." he said remembering the duel with Izo Geru. "I won a duel. So...how much do these cost?"

"Their prices vary from 15 to 500,000."

Max Osiru walked over to the cabinet seeing the series of packs having Blackwings. Ahh, but not now.

"Can I get this?" Max asked showing Adam showing him Structure Deck 11: Surge of Radiance.

"Sure. I'll just unlock it. 1500 DP."

Max sat on his bed, looking through Structure Deck 11: Surge of Radiance. He had his all his cards strewn all over the place. Half and hour ago he had just paid 2000 DP for it and a new single: Gold Sarcophagus. I'll save my Blackwings for now and try this. His new deck, a modified Surge of Radiance, was built differently to his Blackwings.
