Like A House On Fire [In Character/Started/Accepting in OoC/PG16]

Moment hurtled from the bridge the calm water down below him, unmoving, unbroken. The sound of the train whistle issued from the spot he'd just been. He tucked, not bracing for impact, no, he was flipping. his body turned, sending his past-foot-length red hair spinning in graceful circles around his rotating body. Two flips, three, he hit the water back first, he felt hair settle over his face as he sunk, finally, meters down into the water he resurfaced with powerful strokes and took a deep breath before issuing a loud. "Woo!" School was out. Moment was worried about the arsonist, but his top priority now was making the most of this free time. He wondered when his best friend Amon would be along. Moment began to swim back to the shore, near where he'd left his valuable items locked in a small combination backpack bike-chained to a tree.

 

 

Meanwhile

 

Aylyn rolled over in her bed. She sighed. She'd been all up and ready bright and early for school. The radio had soon alerted her to her un-needed exertion. She breathed deeply trying to get back to sleep, but there was no use now, and hey, why should she really waste a day to herself sleeping!? Abandoning the idea of going back to sleep she faced the day with a new curiousity and enthusiasm. she stepped over the school uniform that littered her bedroom floor toward her poster-covered cupboard door. She wasted no time in throwing on her white gold-trimmed 'winged' pants. and her red strapless top complete with it's inbuilt gold pendant and white accent. Aylyn threw her shoes on and was fast off into town. She barely knew anyone here, but maybe she'd have this chance to make friends. She hoped dearly.

Soul had been sleeping in a tree outside of a park.He heard a thump while he was asleep and finally woken up.He had noticed that he fell out of the tree.He quickly hopped up and tiredly walked into town.He wasn't sure what to do.He walked arond for a bit hoping to make freinds with someone.He had not known most the people there and he smiled as he walked around for about an hour suddenly he decided to go eat at a resturant in this town.Suddenly he ran into a girl [Aylyn] causing both of them to fall to the ground.He jumped up and looked at her "Im so sorry!" He quickly put his hand out to her "Let me help you up."

Aylyn jumped up, grabbing his hand and looked at the boy enthusiastically. "Don't worry about it." she said with a wide smile on her face. "Everyone makes mistakes." She said trying to cover up that she was in-fact rather annoyed. She didn't want to seem cold or mean, she needed to make friends not enemies. Still, she found herself running her fingers through her hair to check for dirt. Everything seemed all good. She was clean, she was happy. She realised she was still holding the boys hand as she flicked her light brown hair. "Oh. Sorry, my name's Aylyn." She said eager to make a new friend. She hoped her prolonged hand-holding hadn't given him the wrong idea.

Selene and Alyssa were both up early, and had skipped down to the river in their usual outfits of tank tops, short skirts, and flip flops.

"Hey, Aylyn, Soul!" they called cheerfully, voices synchronized from habit and from the long time they spent together.

they sat down at the bridge (there's a bridge right), and watched what was happening.

Selene, the more outgoing and boy-hopeful of the pair, was hoping to see Jecht or another boy, but Moment was good enough for her.

"Moment, nice work! But I bet I can beat you in style..." Selene pulled off her outer layer revealing her bathing suit underneath, and she somersaulted off the bridge.

Soul smiled slowly and said "Im Soul...Unashi."He had felt sorry for knocking her to the ground.He smile got smaller and he said "Im sorry about making you fall...It's my fault."He had noticed she had still been holding his hand and didn't know why.His mouth formed a very small o-Shape and he looked at her."Well Aylyn...I guess your the only person i kinda know around this city."He wasn't sure what to say to her.He looked at her then finally said "Do you..know anywhere I could eat around here Aylyn?"He had been saying her name alot so he could get himself used to it.He looked at her rather confused about where to eat.He suddenly heard a voice yelling his name and noticed it was Selene and Alyssa he didn't know why they had juped in the water.He felt like going the water to but didn't.He noticed Alyssa hadn't jumped off.He smiled at her "Hey Alyssa!"

OoC: Yeah it's a train-and-trafic bridge, so it's a fair way up, but there's usually stairways onto them

 

He watched the girl fly through the air gracefully turning in the sky, a beautiful sight. "Selene!" He called out smiling. The park and creek were starting to fill up. "Nicely done!" He said changing course to swim over to her. "But unlike me, missy, you didn't have to jump early to avoid getting collected by a train! How about we go again? He asked now tredding water in front of the girl. Before Selene could really answer, moment was off back to the shore of the creek. Normally he wasn't really outgoing but he knew Selene and Alyssa. They were good people and he never felt too bad about weither of them.

 

 

Aylyn

 

She didn't really know anywhere bar the coffee shop just down from her house. "I know a place, but it's a bit expensive. If you're cool with that come with me, I could use something to eat myself. I'd probably know somewhere cheaper if I hadn't not long moved here from New York." Aylyn wondered what the day would bring. She wasn't 20 minutes out of bed and she'd made a new friend. That sounded good to her. "Soul?" She asked rhetorically. "That's an awesome name!"

Soul smiled as she said there was somewhere to eat."Ok Aylyn..i'll follow you."He had noticed she liked his name and he laughed a bit.He turned around and said "Hey Alyssa...you wana come along?"He hoped that the other girl wouldn't care if she did.He had needed something to eat and didn't care how exspensive it was.He was just very hungry.He had enjoyed Aylyn's presence.Where were the going to eat anyways?

Selene grinned. "Sure!" she clambered out and jumped to hang onto the rim of the bridge, and used her NOT too weak muscles to pull herself back on. "Here I go!" she did a complicated combination of somersault-twisting in midair and landed with a graceful splash in the river.

She grinned and treaded water to the side so that Moment could have a go.

 

Alyssa watched in awe as her friend, the more athletically gifted of the two, executed that. She knew flirting when she saw it, though, and laughed to herself as she sholudered off her shirt, getting ready to dive in.

Moment, by this time had climbed to a proper stand on the bridge. He smiled down to her before backing up. In an almost Gymnast like display he ran,executed a hand-spring on the bridge spun straight down to the side and pulled a side-flip tristing again during that, he got part way through a second before pulling a corkscrew and piercing the water. He re-emerged infront of her and laughed. "You're good Selene! Why've I never seen you do this before?" He asked happily. From this position he could see that she had beautiful, vivid blue eyes. He wasn't totally oblivious to her flirting but he wasn't going to give that away either. He was eager to talk more, and he felt completely at home in the creek.

 

 

 

Aylyn

 

 

Aylyn started walking, and turned her head to the boy and gave a laughing "Come on, Soul!" She waited for him to catch up and surveyed the area. Park land. very pretty the creek was sparkling in the sun, and a lot of the kids from the school where down here. She saw an athletic pair of kids doing graceful flips and turns from the high bridge. It was something she'd have to try one day, but not right now. She turned her attention back to the boy and smiled eagerly for him to come. When he did she started to explain. "It's a coffee shop up near my place. Food's good, it's a little pricey but the service is great, and the coffee's sooo much better than starbucks which was all I'd ever get back in New York."

Soul quickly caught up and didn't wait for Alyssa to awnser him.He smiled and walked into the area.He saw the shop from there and turned his attention to Aylyn not knowing what to say.He smiled at her and he thought it was nice for her to help him find somewhere to eat.He had only known a one very fancy place to eat but he figured that it was more of a night place then morning place.He looked at her eyes and saw that she was looking at a peacful creek with several kids in it."A little pricey huh...okay then i'll pay for it all."He had wanted to make up for making her hit the ground.He also liked being generous to people.

"Well, I've got my own money..." She said with a half-hearted smile. She'd probably got him all wrong but she swore Soul was interested in her. Aylyn reached into her own pocket and produced a Twenty-dollar note. before pocketing it again quickly. She did think this guy seemed really nice, but she was just too interested in other people to really consider him. She weaved her way along-side the boy across the park and around the fountain she'd not long passed on her way over to where she'd litterally ran into her new friend. "So, where are you from?" She was trying to make conversation and to get to know the boy better.

Soul looked at her and smiled "I am originally from Abroh...And you?"He usually didn't want to talk about his past but he decided that it would be okay to tell someone.He noticed that she was at were they had met.He saw her twenty dollar bill and said "Well if you prerfer paying for yourself then thats fine with me."He wasn't sure what to do now.He liked her style of clothing.It looked different from the occasional skirt and small tee shirt.

"I was born in New York and we've only just recently left there. I'm just finding my feet here. The school burning down really doesn't help with that. I kinda needed to make friends, which is gonna be harder when all of the kids are spread out and constantly in thier tightly-knit groups." Aylyn sighed and looked a little downcast. Where she'd come from she had tonnes of friends. She wasn't the most popular girl but she didn't want to be. She just wanted a comfortable circle of friends and the ability to say "Hi." to anyone she wanted and get a response. She didn't have that here she didn't have the security of a good group of friends. She was probably the only kid in Haven Gully who was begging to go back to school.

Soul looked at her and said "Well i guess im your freind..."He had enjoyed talking t her and knew what was wrong "You never wated to leave New York did you?"He knew that he would be right.The look in her eyes had screamed it.He started to walk towards the coffe place and smiled "C'mon Aylyn!"He stopped to let her catch up like she had done before.He was very hungry now.

"Not really. I know I'll like it here though. I just need to meet people. Like you. You seem like the kind of person I who'd make a good friend for a girl like me." She smiled, not wanting him to feel as though he needed to comfort her. She was glad she'd bumped in to him though , what she'd said was true. Aylyn's mind was elsewhere. on a quiet boy with light brown hair and beautiful, vivid green eyes. He was a quiet kid, but he seemed nice to her. Amon was his name and she had been looking forward to getting to know him. She continued walking with Soul looking down. She started to wander out onto the road. She didn't know that Chuck O'Henry a trucker carrying a load of various Pepsi products was late and not paying attention to the road. Aylyn was in trouble.

Walking down the road, Amon had his head phones in his ears and was listening to his ipod. looking down at his over sized shoes as he walked. Looking up to cross the road, the brown eyed teen, looked both ways, before half running, half shuffling across. Lifting his hand to sheild his eyes, he kept walking as he hummed along to the song playing in his ears, the words seemed to speak to him. Looking to his left, he saw Aylyn and a friend walking neer a row of shops, and coming down the road a few hundred yards down was a truck, feeling his heart rate pick up, he ran across the road again. The truck getting closer, and tacked Aylyn down to the side and out of the path of the on comming truck. Having landed on top of the young female, Amon blushed. 'sorry about that Aylyn, you ok?' he asked crawling off of her, and extanding a hand down to help her to her feet.

"Second time today!" Aylyn said brightly as she took Amon's hand and dusted herself off as she stood up. Seeing Amon had this instant effect on her. It bought a huge smile to her face. The sadness was gone, and well, it kinda helped that he'd saved her. "Only you saved my life. Soul just saved me from a life of bordom" She laughed nervously feeling awkward. Her cheeks were glowing scarlet in color. It was plain to see that she had feelings for Amon. She gave him a quick hug something between "Thankyou so much" and "Take the hint, boy!" Then she started to speak again. "Soul and I were just headed off to the coffee shop if you wanna come with. Since you just saved me, I'll buy you a coffee or something!" Please come, please come, please, oh please, oh please come!

 

 

Meanwhile

 

 

Moment turned away from Alissa for a moment and sighed. he was expecting Amon a while ago. His quiet old friend was unfortunately nowhere to be seen. He kicked a bit and spoke to Alyssa again. "i'm gonna take another dive. Why don't you stay and get the view from the water? I think this'll be a good one. Moment smiled to her and emerged from the creek, slowly climbing up the stares having held his hair to prevent it's ends from dragging in the mud and getting dirty. he hasted having to wash his practically endless head of hair.

'I would love to Aylyn, but I have to meet moment, I was ment to meet him a while ago. but I got busy saving yourlife.' Amon laughed, nerovosly, as the song on his ipod changed. Taking his ipod out to check the time, he gasped 'oh damn it, Im really sorry and I hope im not being rude, but im like nearly an hour late and I have to run now. BYE stay away from traffic, please.' He smiled kindly before taking off down the street. Amon only stopped running when he came out at the old bridge, just in time to see Moment take one of his famous jumps and land perfectly in the water. Smiling, Amon walked over to the edge of the creek, and pulled off his jumper, shoes and jeans and lastly his shirt, before running in the water to give his long time friend Moment, a tackle hug.

[Dark Lightning]

Aaron was in his room, practicing his strumming on his acoustic guitar. While he spoke on the phone with one of his friends; he held the phone between his ear and his shoulder as he played.

"Yeah. Alright then, come over tomorrow. K. Bye." he spoke on the phone, ending the conversation. He played his guitar for about 4 more minutes and then he decided to take a walk outside to see if he would come across something interesting.

Moment had just tried something new, facing away from the creek he backflipped off the edge, narrowly avoiding hitting his head on the edge of the rails of the bridge, he continued into another flip, this time turning 180 degrees in the process, He hit the water right infront of Alyssa, giving him a fraction of a second to smile happily to her. He sunk down deep again, and resurfaced by swimming off toward the shore emerging just in time to "Splash!" He fell backwards into the water as Amon Kerigan, his best friend had appeared, later than ever, and blasted him with a massive hug! "Better late than never, I guess" he said emerging and spitting out a mouthful of water. "I was just hangin' out with Alyssa and Seline. And you'da been there too if you hadn't been too busy pretending to have a life!" Moment joked. His sense of humour was probably a little cruel but he was confident that his friend would take it well.

[The Final Messenger]

Ellis was under a car he was working on, sleeping. He woke up when hs phone rang and then smacked his head on the underside, he then took his phone out of his pocket and said to the caller, "Y'ello, oh uhh your car is...," he fixed the last part and said, "fine, you can pick it up today at 1 o'clock." He slid out from under the car and took a look at himself, "I need to take a bath later," he said washing off his hands and walking to God knows where.

[Mysterium Tremendum]

Alden sat alone in a pizza shop a few blocks from the bridge with a half-eaten slice of pizza on the table. As he solemnly ate the pizza, he sat and let his mind wander, "What to do now? School is gone, so what should I do now? Alden sat with a pizza in his right hand and thumping the table with his left hand. "Maybe I can get a job or somstething, I'm sure there are plenty of shops in need of help, with the school gone it will increase the amount of customers they'll have." Alden sighed and looked out the front window of the pizza parlor wondering if maybe it would've been better if the school hadn't burned down, Alden worked hard on his grades and with school out he didn't want to go back to school when it was repaired and have to study harder in order to regain what he'd forgotten. Alden thought, "Maybe I should just relax for a little while before deciding on what to do." Alden wistfully thought in his head as he poured over his pizza.

Soul looked at Alyln and smiled "That boy has feelings for you...I can tell."He knew that he had to be right seeing as they had both blushed when he saved her.He was wonderng if the boy was going to ask Alyln out but he hadn't.Soul actually didn't have any feelings for the girl.He just thought that she could be a good freind.He started to walk twards the shop hoping Alyln was following him.

Selene smiled serenely as she watched Moment. "I just got good at this a couple of months ago, been practicing ever since!" she said, jumping up to dive again.

Alyssa decided to join in at last, being not as good as Selene but still decent at this type of thing.

She jumped off the bridge and into the water, spinning in the air, and landed with a cold splash. "Brr..." she muttered.

[The Final Messenger]

Ellis reached a bridge and saw some people from school and said, "Hey y'all! It's me Ellis!" He walked on the bridge and fell off, he swam to shore and said, "Y'all this reminds me 'bout the time my friend Tom and his car fall off a bridge like this 'un here. Ya see he was drivin' at night and was talking to his girlfriend on the phone and stuff, and he saw a fur coat that looked like a bear so he got outta the car and poked it, then these owls who were watchin' that coat came and attacked 'im so he jumped off, treadin' water for like, 5 minutes, until the bridge was raised and his car fell off. It was like Karma as tryin' to teach him something, but atleast he got a free coat."
