"Natsumi Hishiro, Lieutenant of the 1st Squad, you have been charged for first degree murder and shall be sentenced to death." This is the repeated line that flows through her head as she walks down the path to the shokyoku, ready to face her punishment with a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face.

 

"I've been told that I have killed the captain commander. Is there any proof for this situation. Is there a way to prove this theory?" She replied before the flames of the phoenix before her ripped her to shreds...

 

3 days later, on the floor mattress of the 6th squad captain, Shigai Kuchki, a note was left which said... "Dear captain of investigation, please give up your search. It's pointless thus far... If you still do not believe Natsumi did it, then I'll give you some proof. A scan of her blade showed all previous blood stains, one of which were the stains of our dear captain commanders, Unohana Retsu. But I will spare you the whole 'She was set up' gambet. I did it... Yes, me. I took her blade, and struck that pointless wench of a captain commander of ours... But the only question that remains is... WHO AM I?". At the bottom, the note was signed, with an odd signature. "Hayumi the Destroyer".

 

Shigai did a scan of everyone who's name was Hayumi, or was referenced as Hayumi. It just so happened, that in the last 6 months, all Hayumi's of soul society were murdered in the same method the captain commander was. A stab through the chest.

 

Who is behind these murders? Someone in the Soul Society for sure!

All the remaining captains were sitting at a round table inside the 6th division barracks. The vice captains stood outside waiting for their captains to come outside to update them on the news.

SoiFon, Toshiro, Satoshi, Raizen, Ino, Hiraku, Shigai, Nemu, Yun-Wai, and Yachiru all sat and discussed. The conversation stayed mostly on topic and the latest information on the murderer, but it also switched to the retirement of Soifon and Toshiro moving up as the new Captain Commander.

 

Ino than spoke up in wonder, "How does someone as strong as Unohana get murdered like that. All of us over here know that Unohana could rip as apart with her bare hands if she wanted to. How does she die so easily then. Something over here does not add up... And I don't think this is your normal murder"

 

Shigai Kuchiki interrupted and started telling the group about the note and how it was signed by Hayumi the Destroyer. "The odd part was, all Hayumi's, including your mother Ino, have been murdered in the last six months. I do agree, something beyond just a regular murder is going on here, especially with the death of 3 of the strongest captians. Joshiro and Kyoraku also died, which still confuses me. They were very strong captains as well. This is quite a pickle..."

 

SoiFon speaks up "What do you suppose we do? If you need a suggestion, we should fill in all open Captain Positions ASAP, and then go on forward with this investigation. Open slates means easy access to more captain murders and more squad shut downs. This could end up destroying the Seretei, so immediate action must be taken. I was going to get an heir for the second squad because I'm about to retire, but I can hold on a little longer and let my heir go on to captain the 13th squad. What do you say to that idea?"

Satoshi finally spoke up.

"If I may, I think that the Vice-Captain of Division 13, Takeshi Morimoto, is very well-equipped for the Captain position. Also, if one tried to kill him, he could just summon those frilly little rainbow of his, kill them, and fully heal himself in the process."

Satoshi wasn't one of the many who found Takeshi so thrillingly engaging, something his good friend Toshirou knew all too well.

"Then there is the matter of your retirement...We can't let that have an impact on this, Soifon. After all, you are getting much easier to kill in your old age. Your reaction time isn't as fast as it used to be. Also there's the matter of..."

 

Takeshi heard his name coming from inside the room. Then again, he had been listening at the door. He couldn't tell who had said it though. Through these walls, everyone sounded like either Hitsugaya or Unohana.

"Guys, I think they just said it's time I became Captain!"

Anrakkiniji moved slightly in his scabbard, apparently eager as well.

 

"...But back to the matter at hand...I personally think we should examine all the victim's bodies for traces of reishi from the killer. As soon as we find one that is matched on a suitable amount victims, and find that person. Then we hold trial, just to be fair. Inform them that instead of being executed by the Sokyoku, they will be imprisoned in Kibou's sword for all eternity, if they are indeed convicted." Satoshi was finally finished. He had talked for quite some time about many things, but he felt this was the most important of them all.

He hoped the other Captains would feel the same way...

Midorame sat there, quietly starring at his cup of tea; his face showed quite the bored and tired expression, almost lifeless. Midorame slightly tapped the table surface with his fingers and then used his other hand to lightly scratch his head. "Hmm...." Midorame then suddenly stood up from the table with his eyes closed. Midorame then opened his eyes and took his cup of tea; then, heading towards the exit without another word. Midorame seemed to be almost slouching as he walked outside, not even looking back at the others. After a couple of seconds have passed, Midorame re-entered the room and walked back to his chair. Midorame then sat down and took a sip of his tea, savoring the flavor. "Much better...." Midorame spoke quietly. "{Clears throat} Sorry about that, my tea was cold...." Midorame explained.

 

"Isn't it funny? How all of these captains were killed by a stab through the chest? It must have been very convenient for the murderer to have one specific location that he or she would perform the act on, but then again, I guess either the chest, the neck, the head, or the midsection would be the only places to execute and quick kill.... The sly eagle doesn't kill at whim...." Midorame said out loud yet wasn't directing the statement to anyone in particular. Midorame then looked at the other captains. "Huh? Oh sorry, I was mumbling to myself again huh? Umm, so what are we discussing again?" Midorame asked while scratching his head.

SoiFon gave Satoshi a glare. "Darling child, do not insult my power. I am retiring so I may join the central 46, not because I am to weak. You forget I can kill you with 2 steps..."

 

"SoiFon, Satoshi! That's enough, we are here to discuss, not argue. If you wish to chatter and kill among yourself, do it in district 80 like the animals you seem to act like." Toshiro exclaimed.

 

Kurotsuchi Nemu spoke up and started talking "We have scanned all the blood samples on the swords found. They were all scrap Zanpaktou. Nothing special to admire. These spare zanpaktou were from the shinigami substitution weapon bank. Can we register that as a clue?"

 

Yachiru looked up... "No not really. Many foot soldiers have access to that vault. Do you think they would b that strong as to kill a captain commander and 2 of the strongest captains?" Yachiru asked.

 

Nemu took this into consideration and decided when she got back to the research lab, she would analyze every name that has access to the vault.

 

Toshiro then looked up at Midorame and opened his frozen cold mouth. "Mido, who are you directing that comment to?" he asked sensing the bit of direction in those words.

"Comment? Oh you mean when I was mumbling? Umm, I'm just trying to play detective, I'm actually clueless on the case...." Midorame responded while a slight smile. "{Yawn} Well if you must know.... I was just thinking that it must've been very convenient for the murderer to be able to kill the strongest captains of the Soul Society without leaving any traces of evidence behind. Either the murderer was very skilled, or very lucky, maybe there could be more than one.... Who knows.... Eh, sorry again, I'm probably sounding pretty idiotic with my worse-than-horrible accusations.... Hell, I may be the murderer for all we know and I'm just trying to act this way to confuse all of you.... That's what a certain person in Soul Society's past acted like, right? What was his name again?.... Aizo, Aigen...." Midorame muttered onwards.

Toshiro crossed his brows, his face in anger. "Mido, watch what you say okay?" Ino said with a smile on her face. "That name is forbidden in front of SoiFon and Toshiro. Respect them love. Well, I call this meeting to an end. There's not much more we can talk about is there. The enemy is screwed up in the head and very skilled, or wants revenge and got super duper lucky. Now I'm tired and want to go take a nap. So well... DISMISSED!" Ino explained.

 

"Dismissing on my account?" Toshiro asked.

 

"Like you care. You want this meeting to end just as much as I do. You hate this kind of bull!" In retaliated.

 

"You make a point... Very well then, dismissed. But before you go, Nemu, I want a full report on anyone with access to the substitute vault, and Kuchiki, more and more information would be nice. As much as you can get. SoiFon, meet me in my office in 5 minutes. Mido, and Ino, you 2 come too." Toshiro then left without another word.

Midorame facepalmed himself. "(Damn it.... Me and my big mouth.... I didn't even remember the name anyways....)" Midorame thought to himself as he stood up and grabbed his cup of tea. "(I wonder what would be the murderer's motive? Revenge? Part of a plan? Or maybe just out of pure disfunctional behavior?.... Eh, I'm not good at this....)" Midorame walked out of the meeting hall anbd starred up at the sky. "Now why would someone want to ruin such a day.... I envy those people who gets to worry about something else besides this.... Oh well, the only dependable thing about the future is uncertainty, so hopefully this case will be done with and quick...." Midorame said as he walked towards Toshiro's office with a rather bored expression shown vibrantly on his face.

[Ｄｈａｒｃ]

"Mmm, Aizen, yes..." Satoshi said. "But like I said, we should examine the reishi signatures on the bodies. Those would be impossible to conceal, so they would be undeniable proof. We should also check the reishi signatures on that note little miss Kuchiki got...Bet you didn't think about that, eh M' Lady." Satoshi despised Kuchiki more than anything. He wouldn't even refer to her by her first name and often gave her sarcastic titles.

"Oh, and Soifon, you forget about my Zanpakuto...Hmm, what could it do, again? Oh, that's right, it travels through dimensions at twice the speed of sound. Sure, nothing fancy, but it might just be able to edge out you by a wee bit..."

Satoshi was known throughout the Seireitei for his sarcasm and wit. Mostly wit. But he was showing his sarcasm mostly at the moment.

"And lastly, can someone explain to me why exactly we're still here. I've made my point. Mido's made his. Toshiro suggested I go pay a visit to my mother before I kill Soifon. Soifon should probably take a nap. Mido should to, for that matter. In fact, why don't we all have one big slumber party! I can bring Shiro-chan here some of my old footie pajamas for him to sleep in. Yeh, that'd be nice...Raizen could bring the drinks...And then Kuchiki and I could--" Satoshi stopped dead and his cheeks flushed deeply. "Well, that's not important...But, does anyone have anything else to say? 'Cause all this talk about slumber parties and naps has made me tired." Satoshi began to rise from his chair, but he sat back down and smiled, preparing for the wrath of the Captains.

Raizen had been sitting there taking in everything that was being mentioned. As the other captains talked, he found himself going into deep thought about the subject. He heard that they were dismissed and then he stood up and was on his way. As he was walking he was thinking and wondering; he wondered about what Midorame had just gotten himself into. He smiled a bit in amusement about what he had said during the meeting.

Toshiro...He's not easy to deal with, that he is not.

Before long, he then found himself wondering about the Captains' death. It was all very strange to Raizen, and it confused him so much; no matter how much he tried to make sense of it.

Raizen hadn't noticed, but he ended up walking into the entrance of Satoshi's office.

He gave him a short "Yo." as a greeting, along with a small wave.

Ino caught up to Midorame. "Mido, you are aware you probably just jinxed yourself into a longer case right? Hahaha" Ino chuckled and grabbed Mido's hand. She then rushed into the Toshiro's office only to see SoiFon already there, sitting and waiting for them to arrive.

 

"Well, what do you want Toshiro?" Ino asked.

 

"You 3 will be going on a mission. I selected you 3 because I am guaranteed you 3 are not suspects. Anyway, our prime suspect is Yun-Wai. The odd part is, the only people who knew her blades release were the captain commander, Joshiro, and Kyoraku. All 3 of which were murdered in the exact same manner. Yun-Wai is off to Hueco Mundo to collect blood data, and I want you 3 to follow and watch her. The reason I am sending 3 captains on this mission is because we do not know her zanpaktou, but she knows all of yours. You are at a grave disadvantage, so follow with dexterity and caution. Dismissed..."

 

He then turned around and looked out the window, waiting for the 3 to leave.

[Ｄｈａｒｃ]

"Hey, Raizen. You up for a little slumber party? Everyone's invited. You're in charge of drinks. But anyway, I'm glad you came in here. I think I should tell you...There's something suspicious about Kuchiki, don't you think? I dunno about everyone else, but she seems like a prime suspect to me...{Under His Breath} I wish she didn't...{Normal Volume Again}So, if you don't have anything else, could you ask for Takeshi to come in here? I'd appreciate it.

"Uh, I did...." Midorame hung his head down depressingly. "Great.... Whoa!" Midorame was rushed into Toshiro's office quickly by Ino. "Jeez.... I could've spilt my tea Ino...." Midorame said as he looked at his cup which somehow was still full. "Whew...." After listening to the briefing, Midorame just fell back onto a nearby chair. "Toshiro.... Would it be possible to just call Yun-Wai back instead of having us go look for her? And how do you know I'm not the murderer? Don't you see my scary face?" Midorame said as he attempted to make a scary face, however it looked more like a mocking face. "So now that I'm a prime suspect can I stay here instead?" Midorame asked, hoping to be kept in Soul Society so he doesn't have to work.

[Dark Lightning]

Raizen sat down and raised his eyebrow at him.

"Slumber Party? In the Gotei 13?" he chuckled "Whatever, I guess I have no choice."

His facial expression then became stern when he mentioned the name 'Kuchiki'. He had never liked anyone with that last name. Raizen knew that it was selfish and shallow of him, but he couldn't help it. It had always felt weird to be along side a noble family.

"I'm not sure about prime suspects, and I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to point any fingers just yet. My mind is still having trouble grasping the whole idea."

Raizen stood up and then nodded as of he hadn't said anything.

"Where can I find, Takeshi, do you know?"

[Ｄｈａｒｃ]

"He'll be with the other Vice-Captains. Also, I'll still need you in here. You and Toshirou are the two I trust the most here...{Just barely loud enough for Raizen to hear} Good, he didn't hear..."

Satoshi started to rummage through his desk and pulled out a shard of metal. The last remaining shard of the original Sokyoku...Hope no one realizes what it is...The shard was about half as long as his Zanpakuto's blade. He wished Raizen would be as trustworthy as he hoped...

"Mido, you are just as aware as I am, if you were a prime suspect, you would talk about role as a suspect more often. In fact, you might as well preach it. On top of that, Ino knows you better than anyone here. She knows it's not in your personality to kill such a fatherly figure as Joshiro Ukitake. Now if you continue to piss me off, I'm going to send you on 3 times your monthly mission quota." Toshiro said angrily. "NOW LEAVE!" he yelled without turning back.

 

Ino than quietly said "Stop it Mido. Lets end this here and go. Toshiro is not in a very good mood, he skipped breakfast." Ino then took Midorame's tea, drank it, grabbed his hand and rushed out the building with him.

 

After they left, SoiFon asked "What's gotten you in such a mood?"

 

"Kuchiki has now become a prime suspect. That's what. She's been doing everything utmost correctly, but has been making purposeful mistakes. And slight ones too, ones you would never expect. And I would not have a problem with that, because usually those mistakes add up to solve the case for her, but this time, it's different. Almost like she wants us to catch them so when we do, we are trapped, and she can easily kill us."

 

"You need to calm down Toshiro. Shigai would never do something like that. Byakuya has her on the tightest leash ever."

 

"Sadly, I'm afraid that leash isn't tight enough..."

Raizen was still feeling bothered about the thought of Kuchiki.

Maybe...just maybe...He just might be a suspect on my list too...

He then snapped out of it for second and looked back towards Satoshi as he searched his office.

"Hmm? Toshiro and I?" he questioned.

He didn't understand much, but he wasn't going to question it any further. Just then he noticed that Satoshi had pulled out something; at first, he didn't notice what it was exactly.

"What...is that?"

[Ｄｈａｒｃ]

"Oh, this? It's nothing. Part of an old Zanpakuto, is all. Really old. Pretty strong, too. Right, about you and Toshirou. I trust you two because Kagehashi trusts you. I can't explain it, but that's just how he feels...But yes, go get Takeshi..."

Satoshi couldn't maintain his witty, sarcastic air...He was to busy with thoughts of Kuchiki. He wondered if she did it. He wondered if she deserved to die by Sokyoku, or be imprisoned, or what. And most of all, he wondered what he felt about her.

Am I...? No. No way. I hate her...She's a horrible excuse for a Shinigami...But she is pretty...

Takeshi was pacing, wondering if the Vice-Captains were allowed to leave yet. He was thinking if they figured out what they would be doing to the culprit. He wondered what would happen to Captain Kusajishi if it was her...

Heh, serves her right...That evil little monster...

"3 times?! Y-Yes Sir! I'll perform this mission with the utmost care and- Whoa!" Midorame was once again grabbed by Ino and rushed out before he could finish his statement. Midorame starred at his cup of tea which is now empty. Midorame began tearing up a little bit. "My tea...." Misorame muttered in a comically sad tone as he shook the empty cup. "{Sigh} Alright, so I guess there's no use in trying to weasel my way out of another mission. Hehe, wish I could have some of your enthusiasm Ino.... To tell the truth, I really want to help find out who the murderer is.... but.... {Sigh} I don't know if I'm cut out for this kinda thing.... What do you think I should do Ino? You're always good at cheering people up...." Midorame said as he sat down on the steps of the building.

'You my fellow captain always doubt yourself too much. You should not do that so often. Now we have 24 hours to get ready, so do so. Oh, and by the way, there is a gift waiting for you on your bed. Remember when I went to the real world a few days ago, well I found these exotic tea's, I got you a few. I hope you like them." Ino said with a calm friendly smile. She then headed for her barracks to go take a nap but was shocked to see who she found there.

 

'Yu... Yu.... Yun-Wai? What are you doing here?"

 

Yun-Wai did not answer. She stepped out of her barracks with a few pieces of paper in her hands. Ino looked and turned to see her walk away completely before entering her barracks. When she did come in, she found a pile of papers at her footstep. It was informative papers. Kind of like a news letter.

 

"Huh? They started this up again. Who knew? Ohhh, this must have been what she put at my doorstep." Ino then closed her barracks door and decided to take a nap.

 

~Meanwhile~

 

SoiFon left Toshiro's chambers, and then she went to go meat Shigai Kuchiki. She found her after a few minutes of searching, then proceeded to tell her, "Shigai, keep an eye on Satoshi for me, will you? I need a status report on his duties." SoiFon only told Shigai to keep an eye on Satoshi so it may be the other way around. She knew about his hate for her, so this would be a perfect opportunity to do so.

 

Shigai replied with a calm "Yes SoiFon Sama" and then headed off for the 9th squad barracks.

 

"Hmm, Satoshi. He's quite the sarcastic one. He'll be fun to deal with." She smiled, then came to the footsteps of the squad 9 grounds. She then headed up to his main office and slid the door open. "Satoshi-Sama! Would you like to go for a nice lunch?"

"Heh, easy for you to say.... I can't help anybody...." Midorame replied with a hint of sadness in his voice. "Exotic tea? Thanks Ino.... I guess that I'll help me cheer up.... a little bit at least..." Midorame stood up and headed to his barracks. "Hello Captain. How did the meeting went?" a shinigami of the 5th division asked in a upbeat tone while cleaning the floor with a broom. "Eh.... Guess it was better than I originally thought.... It didn't seemed as tense as I originally thought it would be. Oh well, I'll be going on a mission soon, so make sure the Lieutenant watches over the activities here alright?" Midorame asked. "Umm, sure." the shinigami responded. Midorame entered his room to see a bag of exotic tea that Ino mentioned earlier. "Hmm, the smell of it is pretty nice.... Might as well enjoy it while I'm packing...." Midorame said as he went into the kitchen to prepare the hot water.

[六兆年と一夜物語]

"This is strange, isn't it?" Utsuro asked his Zanpakuto, Fuuinkado. "You mean the white spots? True." The demon sat down with his gigantic cleaver cutting the ground. "And the fact that my spoils of battle is slowly turning into my face." He pointed to his Hollow mask, which looked a lot different from the original one he picked up. "This can't be avoided." Fuuinkado stood up and pointed his cleaver toward an inverted spot, bleach white compared to the pitch black. A wandering soul came by and passed through it, inverting the black into white the duration it was in there. "And this incident started with the mysterious Hollow attack that came from no where. I defeated it easily, but I was still caught off guard." Utsuro stood up and left his inner world. He stood up from his criss-cross stance and walked back to Seireitei. He walked back to his post, somewhere by the barracks when he realized that his mask changed again, shifting a little bit to a more comfortable spot.

Shigai noticed Utsuro walking by as she was at his barracks. She flashed stepped right beside him just for a second after asking Satoshi to lunch.

 

"That mask is getting to fit more and more perfectly on your face as time goes on." She then gave him a smile and flash stepped back to Satoshi...

 

"Well, Satoshi Sama, LUNCH! Yes, or no? I need to know. We have so much to do today, you and I, and I need your glimmering hope of sarcasm to do it. Plus the Investigation squad would be joyous to have you around. They love your pesky and witty sense of sarcasm. Did ya know that?"

[Ｄｈａｒｃ]

Satoshi was surprised when Kuchiki ran into his office. "Satoshi...Sama? Erm, thanks for the title, but I'm kinda in a meeting right now with Sparky here (Sparky, need to take a mental note of that...)...We're discussing a very important party, so you can {Gulp} feel free to join us...Uh, but I might be able to do dinner..."

Why am I agreeing to this? I-I hate her. Or do I...? No, there's no way...Still...Wait, this is a set-up, isn't it? Kuchiki may be dumb, but she isn't seriously thinking I did this? Gahh..Her and those two oldies...Soifon and Kurotsuchi...Maybe Kurotsuchi thinks I did it...But I'd have no motive...Wait, am I interrogating myself? Gahh, this is to confusing!

"Yes...Dinner would be nice...But are you sure the...Others...would approve?" While he forced most of it away when he brought up the other Kuchikis, he was still blushing a little from Kuchiki's request.

"Well, I guess I got everything I needed.... That didn't took me too long...." Midorame said as he starred at everything he needed for the mission which was just a light brown scarf. "Eh.... What to do now?.... I guess I could just take a walk.... Yeah, I think I'll do that...." Midorame exited his division barracks and began to wander the Seireitei, not having a specific place to go to. Once again he began to slouch out of tiredness while holding a cup of the exotic tea in his hand. "Wish I had something interesting to do right now.... Hmm, I could always tend to my bonsai plants, but probably Mizuho already took care of that.... I could find someone to spar with, eh, but then again I'll be too lazy to fight back...." Midorame stopped at the murder site where they found Ukitake's and Kyoraku's body. Midorame's expression began to saddened up a bit. ".... I wonder if I was with them.... would I be able to help them?.... It looks like I can't help anybody, not my friends, not my family, nobody..... I told myself that I'll become a captain to protect others.... Easy to make that promise...." Midorame spoked in a sad tone as he sat down by the wall and stared up into the sky.

[Ｄｈａｒｃ]

Satoshi noticed Captain Midorame outside his window at the Site...That was what everyone called it nowadays...He was surprised it occurred so close to his headquarters, and to think he had been out to get milk when he returned to see it.

"Hey, Midorame! Want to come in here and hang out? I've got a bed in here if you want to take a nap! Seems like everyone thinks the party's going on at my place!"

 

Takeshi decided to go take a walk. He wandered around a little before heading towards Division 10 HQ, and decided to pay captain Hitsugaya a visit...

"Ahoy, Cap'n! What be ye doing thar?" Takeshi suddenly slapped his hand on his face and shook his head. Why a pirate joke...Why?

"Ahem, anyway, how's life treating ya? Any prime suspects? No threats against you?"
