What is your party setup?

Mine is:

•MC / Minstrel / Skill Points (SP) focus on Sword Skills / N/A

•Galatea / Martial Artist / SP focus on Claw / No Mercy AI Setup

•Enix / Priest / SP on Wand / Focus on Healing AI

•Freyja / Mage / SP on Wand / Fight Wisely AI

Tips: For easy EXP, just defeat Metal Slime in the ruins near Coffinwell (gives about 4000 EXP).

PS: Did anyone know how to change the Job for the MC? Or we stuck with the Minstrel Job?

Have you got to the Alltrades Abbey yet? That's later in the game.

Alfred (MC) / Mage / SP on Wand / Lv18 / No Mercy

Julio / Warrior / SP on Swords / Lv21 / No Mercy

Pandora / Priest / SP on Lance / Lv21 / Focus on Healing

Artemis / Thief / SP on Knife / Lv21 / No Mercy

Just got there. Now i have to find a guy that can change my job because he seem missing.

And Älfred-Kün, you cannot set an AI on MC. I think.

No such class as Paladin.

And this game is a new release (2010 if i'm not mistaken) so maybe ~Ryeden_Ogata~ finished the Dragon Quest VIII not Dragon Quest IX.

Yeah, someone at the abbey will mention a tower. Go there and battle the Abbot.

Thanks for the tip. :)

You can't set a tactic but that's how I battle.

lol that's funny!

Did anyone know what is the different between No Mercy, Fight Wisely and Mixed It Up AI?

No Mercy: AI only use Attack command and never use Spell or Abilities? (I never tried this on Priest or Mage)

Fight Wisely: AI will preserve using MP and only use MP-based Spell or Abilities against large enemies or bosses? (But sometime my Mage only use Attack command and never use MP-based Spell or Abilities while its MP is lower than half, even against bosses!)

Mixed It Up: AI will Attack, preserve MP and Heal if able? (Never use this kind of AI. Perhaps this AI is for a balanced jobs like Thief or Minstrel?)

I need help with Swindimples Academy. The boss there is hard. My guys LP aren't terribly high and the boss has the move called "Double Trouble". It inflicts around 100 damage every time! And I try to buy the best armor and everything. He also uses "Boom" which can wipe my party out if everyone's LP is low enough. Here's my party:

Charley (MC): Minstrel/ LV 24/ SP focus on Sword and Shield Skill/ Follow Orders

Mina: Priestess/ LV 24/ SP focus on Spear Skill/ Follow Orders

Himeji: Martial Artist/ LV 25/ SP focus on Staff Skill/ Follow Orders

Kimiko: Thief/ LV 23/ SP focus on Knife and Claw Skill/ Follow Orders

What is the Swindimples Academy's boss type? Is it a Physical type like Paragon or Lleviathan? Or a Magic type like Master of Nu'un (Jack Abbot)? If you against a Physical type boss that depend mostly on brute strength, you better wear or buy equipment that have great Defense. And If you against a Magic type boss that depend mostly on multiple spells, you must equip your party with items that have good Deftness.

He has both. He usually uses his normal attack which is around 50 damage, Double Trouble is his normal attack twice, Boom is a more powerful version of bang so like around 50 damage for each player, and he casts protection against magic. What really sucks is that he can attack twice in the same turn, like most bosses.

By the look of your team, i see a full physical team that focused on brute strength because you have no pure Magic caster. My advice is that you use Minstrel and Martial Artist as main attackers and Priest and Thief as healer. Just beat the Boss with Minstrel and Martial Artist and heal your team with Priest and Thief. Don't forget to use Egg On and Coup de Grace is available.

Because it seem the Boss Physical attack is great and he can attack twice, and he pretty much immune to magical attack thanks to his Buff spell and no pure Magic caster on your team; i suggested that you buy the equipments with the most higher Defense available in Shops or by Alchemy. With high Def gears on your party, you can withstand the onslaught of Physical attack. For Bang attack, just heal the damage with your Priest and Thief.

Don't forget that Alchemy items is sometime more powerful than Shop items. So, spend some time in Alchemy.
