Selene nodded. "We'd better get going now. Ride hard, we'll rest halfway for a bit, then continue riding," she decided. She kicked her horse into a gallop again without another word.

"I hope you don't mind if we move fast. I just don't wanna anger the king," explained Selene to Reina. "He summoned me to his court."

After a bit of hard riding, the horses were panting and they were at the palace gates. The guards let them in as soon as they saw Selene's face.

"The king's expecting you, eh?" one of them said, opening the gate to let them through. "We'll take your horses, if you'd like."

Selene nodded. "That'd be great," she said truthfully. She stepped off moonbeam and grabbed her bag of supplies that she always carried around with her, and handed the horse over. She nodded at hte others to follow suit.

"Walk right into the courtyard. He'll be waiting at the dining table; you're dining with him, ya know," the guard nodded.

 

((remember, anyone can control the king andthe guards and the....well, whatever others tehre might be. So don't be shy!))

Reina giggled when Rioh's made his funny smile. She then heard something about the king. "The king? I...I don't know if I should go any farther...." The king knew Reina. He knew her well. She didn't think it was right for her to go in there without being invited. Reina had stopped. She kept her gaze on the ground. Her family was in there and she knew they wouldn't want to see her. They didn't like her already. Walking in without and invite would make them go off.

"Alright! I accomplish another amazing feat today!" Riohs exclaimed happily referring to Reina's giggle. After arriving at the palace, Riohs wanted to go in and meet the king as well, but he noticed something wrong with Reina. "Hey Reina, if you don't want to go inside then I could take you around town if you want? Don't know if you ever been to the capital before, but there's a lot of fun things to see and do here. So how about it? Interested?" Riohs asked with a smile. "Hmm, I heard there was a circus in town today. Maybe I could take her there, that is if she wants to." Riohs said to himself as he pondered about where to go.

"My...My family is in there..." Reina told him. "If you must go in then I will go. It doesn't matter really." She looked at him. "They probably won't even care. " She faked another smile. She didn't want anyone to know she got kicked out. She didn't want anyone to know what had happened. Reina looked at them. She didn't know what to do. The king would ask her where she had been and she couldn't tell him she had been staying on the streets. She couldn't tell him she was kicked out.

"You're family is in there?! Whoa! I didn't know your family had relations with the king! That's great!" Riohs exclaimed happily. But when Riohs saw Reina's smile, he placed his hands on his hip and neared Reina. "Hmm...." Riohs looked closely at Reina's smile and the backed up. "That smile just now, it wasn't really sincere Reina. You know Reina, if you have anything that's bothering you, you can let me know alright? I'll help you with everything I got, that's a promise." Riohs said as he gave Reina a thumbs up. "And if you don't want to go inside, I'll take you to go sightseeing around the city. Sightseeing will take a lot of stress away. I would like to see you smiling more, but a more sincere smile, that'll make me happy." Riohs explained as he gave Reina a reassuring smile.

Selene was already inside with Dante, walking to the dining room. "hey, where's Riohs and Elena?" she stopped and turned around.

"Miss, the king would see you now! Please do not keep him waiting!" one of the maids said with a bow. She led the entourage into a lavishly set dining table. This woul dbe the best dining that Selene had had in months.

"Welcome," came the loud booming voice of the king. "But I saw you come in with four! WHere are the other two?"

"I do not know, your highness," Selene responded with a bow. "They are probably still outside."

Reina couldn't believe he could tell her smile was fake. She blushed when he got closer to her. "It's up to you not me. I live here so I see alot every day." Reina did like the idea of sightseeing. But she just wanted them all to be happy. She didn't want to be a bother. She lowered her head staying quiet. Reina didnt want to make any of them upset. She still didnt tell about her family. Reina didn't think it was important. At least at the moment that is.

"Hmm...." Riohs placed his hand on his chin and started to ponder. "Alright then, you wait here for a moment Reina." Riohs said as he ran inside to the throne room. The guards were kind enough to let him in without asking any questions, although that may be because they've already seen him with Selene who had a meeting with the king. After he got inside, Riohs looked at the king. "Hi there your highness. Name's Riohs Tredal, I won't be sticking around but I thought it would be common courtesy to inroduce myself. Umm, Selene, Dante, I'm going to take Reina to go sightseeing. I'll meet up with you two later. See ya." Riohs whispered to Selene and Dante. Riohs then quickly ran outside to meet up with Reina. "Well let's go. I cleared things up with Selene and Dante so we'll meet up with them later. Do you have a specific place you wanna go, or something you wanna eat? It'll be my treat." Riohs said energetically.

Selene watched with befuddlement at the scene that followed with Riohs. She shrugged. "Sorry, your majesty, that was just my companion..."

Luckily, the king took no notice. "Are those four companions close to you?"

Selene shrugged. "I guess they're the closest people Iknow to me even though I just met all four of them today. Why do you ask, your majesty?"

The king signed and leaned towards her. "Avith and Sythgren have declared war on the remaining three countries. Vidrain and its tyrant king has remained aloof to this, but Mislet has decided to side with us."

"Excuse me, your majesty, but if this has to do with Mislet, I am wanted there."

"No, no, you won't be going to Mislet unless it's an emergency. No. I want you and your companions to go to Avith to figure out their plans. I want you to get close to them and... well, you know what I mean. if this ends in assassination, so be it. But I want information."

Selene bowed, though her throat felt dry at the thought. "Yes your majesty."

"Now, we will dine."

Dante had seen the castle before, many times infact. He could tell the gaurds were warching him, as he didn't bow to the queen. "Dante, why are you here?" the king asked rather frustrated. The king disliked Dante and he had just turned up to his castle uninvited. The only reason the king kept Dante as one of his head wetboys was his expertise and that alone. The king tried not to interfere with Dante, leaving him seperate from the other wetboys as he would have to to his assassinations alone. "Why do you think I'm here?" Dante asked sarcastically. I am here because I wish to help Selene with her mission. If thats alright with her, that is..." he said, loooking at Selene.

Selene nodded, looking slightly relieved. She didn't want to do this enormous task alone. "Of course, if that is alright with your majesty," she added with a bow.

"Of course it's alright," the king said, though he looked at Dante with more than a little distaste. "As long as you get the job done. SERVANTS!"

Five servants came running in.

"We will eat now."

The servants bowed without a word, and exited.

"Anywhere and anything is fine...as long as its real food..." She just left it at that. Working for people she didn't get much of a choice of what she ate. Most of the time it was left overs. She was hoping the king wasn't going to reconize her name and ask about her. She was glad she was going to advoid seeing her family. Living on the streets on her own was harder than she thought. She was starting to wish she stayed in the palace and done what her family wanted. She was missing her bed. Her comfort. Everything. She even missed dining with the king. She gave it all up cause she wanted to live the way she wanted.

"Alright then, I'll take you to the circus, they have some really awesome food and really cool creatures to look at. There's even activities to do and prizes to win! C'mon let's go!" Riohs said energetically as he grabbed Reina's hand and began to rush to the circus. "(Hmm, I should probably slow down....)" Riohs slowed his pace but still kept an average running speed to arrive there faster. After awhile, they finally arrived at the circus. At the entrance, the first thing they saw right away was a humongous Adamatortoise, a giant tortoise creature that has an average height of twenty-three feet. "Whoa! Check that thing out! That Adamatortoise is huge! Hmm, well if ya want right now, we could go find some food in here. They sell a lot of treats from different countries here." Riohs said.

Reina smiled at it. She then looked at Rioh. She nodded. "Okay. Sounds good." She had never been to a circus before. She was always kept outside the tent cause she had no money. She liked teh sights. She liked it all. Reina then realized he had grabbed her hand and she blushed. She didn't know why he was being so nice to her. No one had ever before except the king. She wondered if the king noticed she was gone. She then told herself of course he did. They saw each other each day and now none at all.

"Alright then, let's go." Riohs said as he began walking along with Reina into the circus. Right away, the smells of freshly prepared foods filled the air. "wow that smells good. Hmm, hey thet're selling one of my favorite treats, freshly made sweet-battered peaches. Hav you ever tried one before? It's a fresh peach covered in soft, lightly fried batter and lightly sprikled with powdered sugar, and it's easy to carry cause it's on a stick hehe. It's great." Riohs said as he walked over to the vendor. Two please." Riohs said. "Here ya go." the vendor handed Riohs two sweet-battered peaches. "Thanks." Riohs replied as he grabbed them and then handed money over. Riohs then walked back to Reina. "Alright, here ya go Reina." Riohs said as he handed one over to Reina, and then took a bite of his own. "Hehe, this is great. It's been awhile since I gotten to eat one. Boy that peach really is juicy, and that batter is so delicate." Riohs said as he took another bite, and smiled formed on his face.

She took a tiny bite and smiled. It was good. Reina smiled. "Thank you." She took another bite of it. Reina was glad he showed it to her. She was glad she met them. She would of gone her whole life without trying such a great food. It had been a while since she had real food. This tasted so wonderful. The smell was even good. She ate all of it that she could. She was glad to finally get some food in her stomach.

"Hmm, I'm glad you liked it, and no need to thank me, I'm glad I should thank you for coming along or else I would've been lonely, hehe." Riohs stated. "That was just a little snack though until we finished sightseeing. By the way, if you see any prizes you would want from the activity booths they have here, then just tell me and I'll win it for you, okay? By the way Reina, what kind of relation does your family have with the king?" Riohs asked as he walked with Reina through the circus until they stopped at a fountain. "If you don't want to answer then you don't have to, I was just curious is all." Riohs said with a smile on his face.

"My father....is captain of the guards...So he's with the king alot...." She lowered her head and explained. "I was suppose to get married. I don't know to who. I told them no and I was kicked out. I should of found out. When I was kicked out there were rumors of the king's marriage being canceled. Its hard to believe I was so close to him. The queen passed away before having any children. So he needs to find an heir before his death. I used to be a proper lady if you cant tell. I look like a begger now."

"I see.... Well, I say you can't really rush things like marriage and all of that." Riohs started as he took a seat on the fountain and then looked up at the sky. "These kind of thing shouldn't be taken lightly. You need to look deep in your heart and tell him what you really feel. I mean if you have something you really want to say then you need to do it. Don't keep your feelings hidden inside for too long." Riohs explained then turned and looked at Reina with a smile. "You need to confront him and tell him your true thoughts, whether you want to marry him or not, you need to at least let him know. If you do feel like you want to marry him, then make sure to invite me to the wedding, heh." Riohs said with a big smile. "Of course, I wished you could've stick along for a little while longer with Selene, Dante, and me, but, well it's your decision. Just tell what you feel from your heart, and everything'll be alright." Riohs said as he placed his fist on his chest.

Reina never thought of that before. What was her heart telling her? If she did she would have to stay in the palace all day. If not she could still fight. "I don't know what to do really. No one has ever loved me before so I don't know what love is or how to love someone." Reina was trying to figure out what to do. She was wondering what love was. Her parents seemed happy with each other but not her. Was that it? Reina was confused.

"Well there are different types of love, parental love, love between relatives, and then there's romatic kinda love." Riohs started as he began pondering himself what love is. Riohs placed his hand onto his chin and began thinking of an answer that'll hopefully help Reina. "Hmm, well I may not be a romanticist, but I may be able to provide at least a decent answer. Well I guess love is when you feel happiest around one person. You want to be with the person when you can and you want to see that person feel happy, cause when they're happy, then you're happy. You want to see that person smiling cause it'll make you want to smile. You'll do anything for them and you know that they'll do anything for you as long as it makes you happy. Even though sometimes you may have your bad moments but you always know that they still want to always be with you no matter what. I guess that's kinda what it can be described as, but of course you really can't describe it. You just have to feel it for yourself." Riohs explained.

Reina smiled. "I see. It makes sense now. Thank you so much. " Reina was happy to understand now. She liked the idea of having someone love her. She got the idea of finding one person to love her. At least one. Thats all she wanted. Just one. Reina looked at him." Thanks for bringing me here. I really needed a break." She didn't want to tell anymore. She felt like she was being a bother now. So Reina went quiet.

"Hey no problem at all. I can't refuse helping a girl out. Guess that's just the type of person I am, hehe." Riohs said with a smile as he scratched the back of his head. "Hmm, aww, your being quiet again. C'mon, be happy, remember to smile, alright?" Riohs said as he jumped in front of Reina and gave her the smile like he did when he first attempted to make her smile. "I'm going to keep bothering you if you don't show me a smile." Riohs said.

 

-Meanwhile-

 

Somewhere else in Desria, Saph, Gauge, and Laguna were walking through the town. "Hey Gauge you sure Riohs is here?" Saph asked. "Well, this is one of his favorite places to go. So I guess he would go here. Why? Are you doubting me?" Gauge asked in return. "Heh, probably considering the last time we listen to you we ended up being chased by a mob." Saph replied. "Hey! That was one time alright! Just let go of the past already!" Gauge yelled back. Saph then quickly got Gauge into a headlock. "Oops, I didn't hear ya there Gauge. Would ya mind repeating that again?" Saph asked with a smile. Gauge began tapping on Saph's arm to let him go. "Please you two, let's just hurry up and find Riohs." Laguna interrupted. Saph finally let Gauge go. "{Panting} Damn it Saph! Were you trying to suffocate me?!" Gauge yelled but then noticed Saph and Laguna already far away from him. "What the- Hey hold up!" Gauge yelled as he ran after them.

Reina giggled. He seemed to be trying to make her smile alot. She noticed that. Reina smiled. How could she not smile? He just had a way of doing that. She couldnt explain it. She had just met him and now she felt so happy. It must be bacause I finally have someone to talk to. Its hard being alone all the time. I guess thats why. I guess I will never fully understand people. I may never understand myself. Reina giggled again.

Riohs did several flips out of excitement. "Heh, good! So from now on if you have anymore troubles, then you know that I'll be there to listen and help you through it, okay?" Riohs said as he gave her a thumbs up. "Alright Reina, I'm going to take you to one of my favorite places in all of Desria. Let's go!" Riohs grabbed Reina's hand once again and rushed off. They soon exited the capital city, and Riohs stopped. "Alright Reina, hang on to me, I'm gonna be going very fast, and I'll also be jumping and leaping a lot so it's kinda like a fun ride until we reach the place that I want to show you. So grab hold and we'll be off." Riohs said.

 

-Meanwhile-

 

Saph, Gauge, and Laguna soon made their way to the palace. "Wait, aren't we going to look for Riohs? Why are we going here to the king's palace?" Gauge asked in confusion. "We need to talk to the king about an important matter." Laguna answered. "Important matter? Sheesh, all you think about is work don't ya Laguna?" Gauge asked. "Humph, maybe.... Let's go...." The three then entered into the palace grounds.
