Reina lowered her head not knowing what to do. She stayed quiet. She was shivering some. Reina was cold. She got like that alot but never knew why. Reina kept wondering why she was willing to give her life to save Ghost. Could she have forgotten some of her memories as she grew older? Reina didn't know but she shook it from her mind. She didn't think that was important now. What was iportant was that Ghost was here and safe.

"Let me ask you, Reina. Do you miss being with your family?" Ghost asked, "Do you ever wonder what it would be like if you hadn't left?"

Ghost looked up and sighed once more.

He stood up and stretched.

Then, he just sat down once more.

Reina nodded. It was true to both answers. What would of happened? Wait, how would he know? Reina kept thinking and getting confused. She kept her eyes on him wondering what he was going to say. Was he a mind reader or something? Reina was really starting to think she was an easy person to read. First Riohs and now Ghost. Who was going to be able to tell what she was thinking or feeling next? Reina kept quiet.

"I miss my family, too," Ghost said, "The only difference is that you actually knew yours."

Ghost scratched his head.

"The closest thing I ever had to a father was my master, and I left him. He's probably dead by now," Ghost said with a sullen look upon his face.

He took the key in his hand once more.

[CristalFlames]

"I see..." Reina wondered if her family missed her. She shook the thought from her mind and lowered her head. Could he read her mind or something? Reina didn't know. She kept thinking about before and listening to Ghost. She wondered what was going on back home. She hoped everything was okay. She had never been away from home so anything can happen while she is gone.

Ghost looked at the key.

"I probably wouldn't be a wetboy if they hadn't died," he said, "Sure, we probably wouldn't be the richest family ever, but we'd at least be a family. I'd give the world just to know what my parents looked like."

Meanwhile, Kraive walked down the street to find the meeting of that 'society' he'd heard about.

He approached the location that the seemingly untrustworthy man from earlier told him about.

Reina looked at him. "I'd give you my parents if i could...."She then looked away. "They didn't seem to care much about me..." She told him. She knew that her dad may of cared more about her than her mother did but she still care about them. They ere her parents. She still loved them. It hurt to think about it. Reina shivered from the cold but ignored it still. She didn't understand why her body got so cold. She sighed.

Selene listened uncomfortably; she was never comfortable about talking about her own background. As she thought of this, she had uncomfortable flashbacks of her previous life.

Her mother was standing over her, screaming, in a 'high' rage of hers. "SELENE!" she screamed. "YOU HID THE MONEY FROM ME!"

Selene shook her head anxiously. She was four years old at the time, and she had only found the money hidden on the last bookshelf they had.

"NO...NO!" with these words there were smacks upon her face.

"no..." Selene was sobbing.

 

The maid perked her head up as Kraive entered. "Morduus? Follow me." she instructed, leading the strange man down the passageway into the secret room.

 

"See? man, this is the wetboy I was talking about!" one man shouted, pointing to Kraive. It was apparent he was drunk.

"Good." said the more silky and calm voice of the leader at the front. "Our meeting can begin now."

Ghost faked a laugh at Reina's first statement.

"Being a wetboy's only brought hardship to me. Kraive wants to kill me. I have no home. I have no family. I have no friends," Ghost said, lowering his head at the thought of how little he had in his mediocre life, "I'm a killer. I'm just like my brother. The only difference between me and him is that I get paid for it."

Great, Kraive thought, I get to spend a night with a bunch of drunken idiots.

Kraive continued to stand despite there being many empty chairs.

"I'm not the most personable human being in the word, so I'd like to get this moving if you don't mind," Kraive said with an angry tone.

The man nodded, completely sober. "Of course." he said as silkily. "You can sit, stand, whatever." he turned a bit and angled his body so that the rest could see him.

"Greetings, all members of the ACST! In other words, the Avithian Coup to Seize the Throne," he added for Kraive's benefit. "Today we welcome a new member...or at least, he will be, if he decides... the wetboy, Kraive. He will receive the tutoring enough to bypass the power of the key that holds him at bay, and in exchange he will help us out.

"We have a first assignment for him." he finished, turning to Kraive. "what do you say? I suppose that after the tutoring we give you, that you will find this assignment satisfactory."

"I will not be taught," Kraive said, glaring, "However, I will do this assignment you speak of."

Kraive reached his hand behind his back and held the knife in his hand, out of sight, in case he had a reason to use it.

"Tell me this assignment," Kraive said, "Tell me how to beat my little brothers key. Then, I'll consider 'joining' you."

Kraive looked at all of the men, trying to piece together whether they're trustworthy or not.

Reina lowered her head when he said he had no friends. "I see...." She didn't know what more to say or do. Reina didn't want to sit in bed much longer. She stood up and headed for the door. Where are you going? What are you doing? Why are you leaving? Reina asked herself. She didn't know where or why. She just was for some reason. Why coudln't she stay there? Riohs may get upset at her for leaving and Reina knew that. She stopped in the doorway.

The man nodded to the other men. "Well, you have to learn the magic that can break the key's power. That's why our mage here is going to teach you. it's simple magic that's in the key, and this man can teach you how to break it."

 

There was a hooded man in the corner, and his face was indeterminable from the shadows of his dark hood.

The man could have been a necromancer.

[John A. Zoidberg]

"Magic in the key?" Kraive laughed, "There's no magic. All he did was use physical strength to stab me with it. There's nothing 'mystical' about it. And I don't use magic. I find. I kill."

Kraive cleared the hair from his face.

"However," he said, "If you have another suggestion, I'd be willing."

Ghost sat and thought for a moment.

"It seems like, everything has conspired against me," he said, "All of you have suffered in some way because of me."

He scratched his head.

"Wait..." he said, "I do have family. Just evil, demonic family that wants to kill me."

He thought a moment longer.

"And... I do have friends also."

The man shookhis head. "No, that pesky brother of yours imbues his own talent's strength inside the key; its what keeps him alive. It'll only take an hour or so, then the task you willget will be to kill the entire group of wetboys and girls that he's with."

He looked around. "They're compromising our situation; the Sythgrenian king is a foolish fool."

He stood back. "So. What do you say?"

Kraive smirked.

"I would love nothing more that to kill my little brother and all of his little friends," he said, "But make this training fast."

Kraive took at the knife he had hidden behind his back. He walked over the men and stabbed his knife into the table.

"Tell me what to do, teach me how to do it, then let me handle it."

"Follow the ma--. Well, now if you must know, he's a necromancer. He is the last necromancer alive. How fortunate is it that he is on our side?"

The necromancer unfroze now and stepped forth. "Follow." was the only word that was spoken. One would have expected the words to be muffled from the inside of his cloak, but he spoke clear and coldly. "now."

The man watched approvingly of the necromancer, his favorite addition to the team they had.

Until now. Kraive was good. Very good.

Kraive nodded.

"A necromancer, huh?" he asked, "Well, where exactly are we headed to?"

Kraive followed the man.

Oh, little brother, he thought, You and your friends don't stand a chance.

"My tower." the Necromancer said clearly, and he swept up the stiars of the castle. "As you know, your brother and his friends are staying not too far away in the main city infirmary. His friend, the girl' sname is Reina I believe, has been injured. She should be easy to get."

They stepped into a room after a long flight of stairs, and the necromancer stepped into the middle, and at last drew off his hood.

The sight was horrifying and terrifying; half of his face was gone. The flesh beneath was visible.

"Do not pay attention to my looks." he instructed. "First, I will show you what kind of thing that the key has inside."

He withdrew a similar keyto what Ghost had. "This is a plain key, but he uses a special kind of magic-- almost unknowingly; he doesn' trealize what he does. He seeps his strength into the key so that when he stabs you, the pain is terrible to bear. You can counteract this by forming your own physical barrier with your own talent. Visualize a wall coming to where he stabs you with the key, wherever it is. Arm, leg, face, neck, et cetera."

Kraive nodded.

"Now," he said, "Teach me to do so."

He glared at the necromancer.

"Make this quick," he said angrily, "The sooner I can get my hands on one of his friends, the sooner I can kill him."

"try it, I will stab you with the key...no, it'll be protected and I'll heal you right afterwards, I am not trying to purposely injure you... ready the shield... now go..." the necromancer lunged forward with the key.

 

Selene stood up abruptly. 'I"m going to stand on the balcony." she said, stepping out the back door and onto the balcony.

She let the cool breeze ruffle herblack hair as she contemplated the day's happenings.

Kraive tried to make the shield, but couldn't manage.

The key pierced his shoulder and he screamed in agony.

"Heal me!" he screamed, "Heal me now!

He fell to his knees, clutching the wound.

OOC-Ah! you two are so fast!

 

Reina looked back at him hearing what he said. He had friends. She stared at him wondering what he was going to say a small smile appeared on her face as she watched him. He may of had family that was evil but that didn't matter to her. She just wished he could see that people cared about him. They may not be family but friends are just as good. Reina kept silent as she didn't move from where she was. She just stood there watching.

Ghost took a sigh of relief, clearing the hair from his face.

For a moment in his thoughts, he'd forgotten about Kraive, forgotten about his parents, forgotten about everything he hated in his life.

He looked to the side to see Reina smiling. He smiled back and said, "There it is again. A real smile."

He laughed a little bit then sat back.

The Necromancer did so with a wave of his hand. "Okay, we'll start small then. Sorry about that." he said, slightly worriedly.

"Okay, so visualize a shield in front of you. visualize it hard enoguh so that a shield actually appears." he instructed.

 

Selene stepped back inside. "Hm...I was just thinking...we need to travel to Avith soon." she said offhandedly. "It's a task we got from the Desrian king." she explained for Ghost's benefit.
