A7X's New Album

Rockin' Rollin' Duelist

Recommended Posts

On July 27th, Avenged Sevenfold will be releasing their new album, Nightmare. This will be their first album since the death of their drummer, The Rev, back in December of 09.

IT will feature drum and vocal clips that Rev had recorded beforehand, but not many. Replacing Rev as drummer for now is Mike Portnoy.

As of now they have only released one song, the titular song Nightmare.

In my opinion, it's freaking amazing, and their best song to date.

If you haven't heard it yet, here's a link. Enjoy.

They used to be my favorite band, until my likings changed to punk. But the new single is amazing, and I bought it on Itunes. Don't think I'll buy the album though...

EDIT: If I'm going to buy an album, I usually wait a long time so the price lowers. I just bought Green Day's hit 1994 album Dookie for 3.99 the other day.

A brilliant new album from Avenged Sevenfold after hardships they've had to endure; better than any title to date they've shown more skill than ever before. With the first half of the album sounding something of a Metallica/City of Evil hybrid, and the second half almost Guns 'n' Roses-like, it's a great mixture and a solid album.

"Nightmare" is one of the strongest songs on the album, going back to City of Evil in terms of style, and showing that while they aren't the heaviest band in the world, they are still a brilliant metal band.

"Welcome to the Family" isn't a personal favourite, but it's still a solid track and I'm sure it has it's fans.

"Danger Line" is another war song by them, and it brings up many points regarding war. I think the main thing with this album is to make the reader think when listening to the lyrics, and they've done that. The end of the song with the claps and whistles reminded me very much of Guns 'n' Roses' "Civil War".

"Buried Alive" has been described by many critics as "Avenged Sevenfold's Stairway to Heaven". While that's a bit too much to brag in my opinion, it's still a very good song and does have similar song structure.

"Natural Born Killer" is a heavy-ish song, not in terms of vocals but whatever. It's another one that brought me back to thinking of Metallica with it's riffs and licks throughout the song. A good song.

"So Far Away" is Synyster Gates' first ever attempt at writing a song... and it's a great job. The song is about how he still has much more he wants to say to Jimmy, but he's So Far Away and that can never be possible. A very emotional piece and the solo's in this song are absolutely f***ing wonderful. The most beautiful thing Syn has ever played.

"God Hates Us" was extremely surprising to me. Why? Well, because fans of Sounding of the Seventh Trumpet and Waking the Fallen will be very happy with it. Yeah- fans now should know what I mean. Despite M. Shadows saying he'd never scream again- this song is almost completely screamo. It starts off with some sick screams, and the chorus is growled. Hell yeah.

"Victim" is yet another emotional song, as the second-half of this album seems to be completely. Almost completely a story after the last two songs, this is another great song and the chorus "We're all just victims of a crime" is yet another reference to death... death is a popular theme in this album.

"Tonight the World Dies" is also a very good song. Another soft-ish song from the band, it reminds me of old Guns 'n' Roses with it's start and it's a great song.

Now... "Fiction" is the most emotional song on the album. It would have been anyway, but the fact that The Rev's vocals are still on this song makes it almost unbearable to listen to. Let it burn.

A f***ing brilliant tribute.

Brushfire, long time, no see.

Anyway, yesterday I went to the store to pick up this album, but it was $15. I decided to check iTunes if it was lower, and it was by a few dollars. And I had $27 on my iTunes account (it was $11), so I decided to buy it from there. I finally got around to listening to it later that night.

This album was awesome. It's up there with Waking the Fallen as my favorite album by them. After listening to "Nightmare" a couple months back, I knew this album was going to be good, but I didn't expect to be this amazing. I cannot stop listening to "God Hates Us" after listening to it; it's probably my favorite song on the album.

The only song that I haven't listened to completely on this album is "Fiction". I just can't listen to this song for some reason. I'll probably listen to it completely at a later date, but right now I just cannot bring myself to listen to it.

Great album. "God Hates Us", "So Far Away", and "Nightmare" are probably, in my opinion, the best on this album.

Nightmare is baws.

God Hates Us wasn't as good as it was proclaimed to be. It's hardly Waking the Fallen or Sounding the Seventh Trumpet material. :/

Can't find it on Youtube, but lyrically, So Far Away is amazing.

I've yet to hear the rest of the album.

Im tired of people trying to be so deep about bands. Rev died. It sucks, but i dont think it would make them worse at making music. Its probably all the drinking and drugs that made them suck.

Because being deep is bad, amirite? LOL, idiot.

A band being "bad" is a matter of opinion. Take your bullshit opinion someone else, please, kthx.

It's actually hard to find the songs from this album on Youtube (from what I've seen). The only songs I heard from this album on Youtube was Nightmare and Buried Alive which was both on the official Youtube page of the band.

ahaha uhh music is opinionated by people who dont know anything about music. When you learn how to judge music by its originality and structure you may judge it, but for ignorant people like you who think they know a band member because of their bio on there website you may not judge. Learn to play music and see where it comes from, then you can come back.

This album was lazy. Metallicas new album is better, and thats saying something (because it sucks). All they do is play a bunch of power chords. Its like really crappy pop, but with distortion and an awesome singer (which didnt matter because all the lyrics on the album were horrible). You wanna hear a really good new metal album go listen to hellyeah.
