Spent the day at a friends house and had over 10 duels against his "Gravekeeper's" and "Crystal Beasts" Decks. I won 10+ - 0. Seems the "Gladiator Beasts" still have some bite...

Actually, there was one turn when my Deck was an absolute b*stard to my friend. He had "Gozen Match" on the field (hate that card) and used "Divine Wrath" against "Laquari's" returning effect and summon "Van'Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord" using its effect, who then Special Summoned a "Gravekeeper's". Main Phase 2: I activate "Lightning Vortex" followed by "Monster Reborn" reviving "Van'Dalgyon". I won the duel with his trump card(!)

Thought of the first part of my fan-fic, then my computer got a virus.

Still got the idea though and as soon as I get it back on I'll write it.

As for the decks , I'm probobly gonna need to ask to things.

1.Real cards or ones made on YCM?

2.What kinda deck would YOU want the main charachter to have?

I think we might make the main charachters deck to make it more awsome.

1. Usually, I like to stick to real archetypes (it's easier to write if you know how to use the cards involved), but if I'm using them to make a duel work or the whole point of the duel is to showcase new cards, then I'll use one of my archived archetypes/cards.

2. Personally, I'd like a field-destruction Deck, focussed on tactical beatdown with a small element of annoying but deadly burn.

I dont really get alien counters that much but if its just an effect like "add 1 counter each turn this card gains 500 ATKA for each counter" then it might work.

'A-Counters' are generally placed on the field by "Alien" support cards and a few of the "Aliens" themselves. The "Aliens" use the 'A-Counters' to weaken the opponent's monsters (usually 300 ATK and DEF per counter during the damage step) whereas the support cards use the 'A-Counters' as fuel for their effects. Lex can correct me if I have that incorrect.

A machine or someting deck would be better.

BTW Charachters name, Japenese or English?

How about "Genex"? That's a main-character-type Deck. Tactical but also destructive and controlling when needed. Also, it has room for development, with the addition of the "Ally Genex" and "R-Genex" monsters.

I've always found villains' names sound quite good if they're rare or unusual names. Hence why I used Reiner, Jain, Armin and Kristian among others.

EDIT:

Perhaps something along these lines for the initial Deck?

You even did a deck. :o

I dont know much about the genex monsters and how they work so when I write the duels I wount know how to use there effects properly.

A Deck known as 'Genex V1' in "Reverse of Arcadia" with some modifications. (I had a phase of seeing how many of the new archetypes my "Gladiator Beasts" could crush)

If you want, I can go through the cards in that Deck above and give brief explainations on how they'd work together. It isn't a complicated archetype or strategy.

Wrote the first chapter of the fan-fic.

I think the chapters are gonna end up like this.

Chapter 1 - Into + he goes on bus to where he's going.

Chapter 2 - Settling in + duel.

Chapter 3 - 1st duel of the tournament.

Main plot is he goes to the regional chapionships where there are 8 duelists from the city so thats Quater finals, semi-finals,final then the winner gets a card and goes to the word championships where there are 16 duelists from the world.

When do you guys wanna see chapter 1?

EDIT : Just checked, on YCM its not too long maybe even a bit short.

Hmm IDK but I suppose you can tell me and we can see if it workd out.

Well then:

Monsters (22):

Genex Blastfan x 2:

Level 4 WIND non-Tuner. When Special Summoned, it can add 1 DARK "Genex" monster from your Deck to your hand. In this Deck, it's a searcher for "Genex Controller", "Genex Recycled" and "Genex Spare". You can easily Special Summon it with "Genex Worker's" effect. Synchro Summons "Windmill Genex".

Genex Controller x 3:

Level 3 DARK Tuner. Needed for all the "Genex" Synchros, this is the key card in this Deck. Since it's a Vanilla, it can't do anything on its own but can be searched and Special Summoned from the Graveyard via "Birthright".

Genex Furnace x 2:

A Level 5 FIRE non-Tuner, but while you control a face-up "Genex Controller", you can Normal Summon it without Tributing. Hence, "Double Summon" or "Birthright" (Special Summoning "Genex Controller") can help to get it on the field. Synchro Summons "Thermal Genex".

Genex Gaia x 2:

Level 3 EARTH non-Tuner. 1900 DEF is this card's big attraction, since its effect is not that useful. Synchro Summons "Geo Genex".

Genex Neutron:

Level 4 LIGHT non-Tuner with 1800 ATK, and during the End Phase of the turn it was Normal Summoned, you can add 1 Machine-Type Tuner to your hand. Searches "Genex Controller", "Genex Recycled" and "Genex Spare". Can be Tributed to Summon "Genex Solar".

Genex Power Planner:

Level 1 DARK Spellcaster, and low stats, but when it's Normal Summoned, it can add 1 Level 3 "Genex" Effect monster to your hand. Searches "Genex Gaia", "Genex Spare", "Genex Undine" and "Genex Worker". Can be used with "Genex Controller" or "Genex Spare" to Synchro Summon "Armory Arm" or with "Genex Recycled" to Synchro Summon "Formula Synchron".

Genex Recycled:

Level 1 DARK Tuner. Once per turn, you treat this card's name as that of a "Genex" monster in your Graveyard. Mainly used in this Deck to Synchro Summon "Armory Arm" and "Empyrea".

Genex Searcher x 2:

Level 4 EARTH non-Tuner. When destroyed by battle, Special Summons 1 "Genex" monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Deck, in Attack Position. Searches "Genex Controller", "Genex Gaia", "Genex Power Planner", "Genex Spare", "Genex Turbine", "Genex Undine" and "Genex Worker".

Genex Solar:

Level 7 LIGHT non-Tuner. The non-Synchro trump of this Deck and the focus of the 'slightly broken combo' that a few character Decks have. It can be Normal Summoned by tributing only one "Genex" monster, but it can be easily Special Summoned with "Genex Worker's" effect. Inflicts 500 damage each time a "Genex" monster(s) is sent to your Graveyard. As in, every Synchro Summon equals 500 points of burn.

Genex Spare:

Level 3 DARK Tuner. The replacement for "Genex Controller", it can make its name "Genex Controller" if you control another "Genex" monster, allowing the Synchro Summons.

Genex Turbine x 2:

Level 4 EARTH non-Tuner. Although not useable for the Synchro Summons, it boosts all "Genex" monsters' ATK by 400, making the Synchros much more formidable. Searchable by "Genex Searcher".

Genex Undine x 2:

Level 3 WATER non-Tuner. When Normal Summoned, it can send 1 WATER monster (ie another "Genex Undine") from your Deck to your Graveyard to add a "Genex Controller" from your Deck to your hand. Synchro Summons "Hydro Genex".

Genex Worker x 2:

Level 3 WIND non-Tuner. The slightly broken card of the Deck. You can Tribute it to Special Summon any "Genex" monster from your hand. "Genex Blastfan" and "Genex Solar" are the prime targets for its effect, since the former will activate when its Special Summoned while the latter is an easy 2500 ATK in your first turn or in a pinch. Searched by "Genex Searcher" and "Genex Power Planner".

Spells (9):

Double Summon x 2:

Used purely for getting two Synchro materials out in one turn. For example, use it to Summon both "Genex Controller" and "Genex Gaia" from your hand to Synchro Summon "Geo Genex"; or Summon "Genex Power Planner", whose effect will add "Genex Spare" to your hand, which you can then Summon and use to get "Armory Arm" onto the field. Summoning "Genex Worker", and using its effect to Special Summon "Genex Blastfan" (who adds "Genex Controller"/"Spare" to your hand) to Synchro Summon "Windmill Genex" is also an option. Since a good number of the "Genex" monsters rely on being Normal Summoned, this is essential so you don't have to keep your materials on the field.

Enemy Controller:

Mainly used for switching your opponent's monster's battle positions and protecting your low level monsters, but can be used to tribute a Tuner you control to control a non-Tuner your opponent controls. Example: You control a "Genex Controller" Special Summoned with "Genex Searcher". You only have "Genex Spare" in your hand, but your opponent has "Mist Valley Falcon". Summon "Genex Spare" and use "Enemy Controller" to tribute it and grab "Mist Valley Falcon", then Synchro Summon "Windmill Genex". This is a situational way of Synchro Summoning and "Thermal Genex" is harder to get out than the others since it requires a Level 5 FIRE non-Tuner, which are not very common.

Flash Freeze:

One of my own created cards. Basically a Battle Phase-only "Cold Wave". Used to protect your Synchros when they go on the offensive.

Lightning Vortex:

Simple and effective monster removal. Can also throw "Genex Controller" to the Graveyard if you happen to have "Birthright" Set on the field.

Machine Assembly Line:

Gives all Machine-Types an additional 200 ATK (so combined with "Genex Turbine", all your "Genex" monsters will be 600 ATK up), and each time a Machine-Type is destroyed, 2 Junk Counters get placed. You can then send this card to the Graveyard to Special Summon a Machine-Type with a Level equal to or lower than the number of Junk Counters on it. Used to Special Summon one of the Tuners or non-Tuners after being used, or even re-summoning a destroyed Synchro monster.

Mystical Space Typhoon:

Staple cards very rarely make appearances in the anime and manga. But "MST's" ability to get rid of your opponent's last defense cannot be understated.

Pot of Avarice:

You will be throwing monsters to the Graveyard very quickly. After three Synchro Summons, you'll have between 5 and 6 monsters in the Graveyard. If you have 5 or more, use this to get them back to the Deck to re-use and get two new cards to play with.

Shield Crush:

Like "Mystical Space Typhoon", this less-used card can easily create a window to your opponent's Life Points.

Traps (10):

Birthright:

Used purely for Summoning "Genex Controller" from the Graveyard, so you only need your Normal Summon to get a Synchro out. Also, unlike "Call of the Haunted", it blows itself up when the Summoned monster is removed from the field so you don't lose a S/T Zone.

Bottomless Trap Hole:

Another semi-staple that has made few, if no appearances, in the anime or manga. Absolutely devastating against an opponent's early offensive or when they summon their trump card.

Dark Bribe:

Yes, it gives your opponent a card, but that card can mean the difference between a pair of monsters and a field cleared by "Dark Hole". Also can be used against "Mirror Force" and the like to shield an attack.

Dimensional Prison:

Very good for stopping a counter-offensive. Compared to "Sakuretsu Armor"/"Mirror Force", this doesn't destroy so cards that block destruction effects cannot be used.

Interdimensional Magic Transporter:

A second fan-made card from me. A Spell and Trap Card version of "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", but it removes a face-up Spell/Trap from either side. Good for removing "Messenger of Peace", the "Level Limit" cards and other cards.

Interdimensional Matter Transporter:

Last minute protection from any destructive effect. Beware activating it on your opponent's turn, since it could leave you open for an attack during their Battle Phase.

Reckless Greed:

Risky, so don't use with too much vigour. But can provide an early card advantage if used on the third or fifth turn; or if used for an end-game flurry.

Scrap-Iron Scarecrow:

Synchro material protection mainly, but can also give you a chance to switch your monsters to defense position or prepare a counter-strike. And it's a prolonged 300 extra ATK for "Windmill Genex".

Tuner's Barrier:

Purely Synchro material protection, can be used to sustain a monster summoned by "Genex Searcher".

Waboku:

One-turn monster and Life Point shield.

Extra Deck (11):

Armory Arm:

Level 4 LIGHT 1800/1000. A secondary target for Synchro Summons in this Deck, given it needs "Genex Recycled" because of the Level balance. Summon while you have another Synchro on the field to give it a good power boost. A prime target is "Hydro Genex", since you'll be dealing burn damage while regaining Life Points.

Empyrea:

Level 8 LIGHT 2800/2500. Another back-up Synchro, this is a card made by me. When Synchro Summoned using a Machine-Type Tuner, you can return one of the Synchro materials to your Deck. It can also send a face-up Spell or Trap card your opponent controls to the Graveyard by discarding a card from your hand of the same kind, once per turn.

Geo Genex x 2:

Level 6 EARTH 1800/2800. "Genex Controller"/"Spare" + "Genex Gaia". Its effect allows it to switch its ATK and DEF each turn if you control a Level 4 or lower "Genex" monster. Abuse with "Double Summon" and "Birthright" to first fulfill the activation conditions (giving you at least 2800 ATK), then summon a second Synchro monster, giving you 4000+ ATK for a turn.

Hydro Genex x 2:

Level 6 WATER 2300/1800. "Genex Controller"/"Spare" + "Genex Undine". Its low ATK makes it a good card to use with "Machine Assembly Line", "Genex Turbine" and "Armory Arm", while its effect regains Life Points equal to the ATK of monsters it destroys in battle. As said above, this plus "Armory Arm" makes a 3300 ATK attacker that can easily make the Life Point gap 4000 points larger from one attack.

Perpetual Genex:

Level 10 LIGHT 3000/1500. "Genex Controller"/"Spare" + "Genex Solar". Fan-made. When it's Special Summoned, you can remove 1 non-Tuner "Genex" monster in your Graveyard to send 1 Synchro monster in your opponent's Extra Deck with the same Attribute to the Graveyard. Also, when you Synchro Summon a "Genex" Synchro monster, it deals damage equal to that monster's Level x 100. The true trump card of this Deck.

Thermal Genex x 2:

Level 8 FIRE 2400/1200. "Genex Controller"/"Spare" + "Genex Furnace". Gains 200 ATK for each FIRE monster in your Graveyard (so 2600 ATK off the bat, and up to 2800 with this Deck) and when it destroys a monster by battle, it inflicts 200 damage for each "Genex" monster in your Graveyard.

Windmill Genex x 2:

Level 7 WIND 2000/1600. "Genex Controller"/"Spare" + "Genex Blastfan". Gains 300 ATK for each Set Spell and Trap Card (so Setting something like "Pot of Avarice" or "Double Summon" and then using it after the Battle Phase can give this a needed boost) and can destroy a Set Spell or Trap Card at the cost of a discard.

lol Good ones.

A modified version could go like this.

Turn 1

Opponent:

Activates "Instant Fusion" (Opponent LP: 4000 -> 3000), Special Summoning "Musician King". Normal Summons "Arcane Apprentice", Synchro Summoning "Arcanite Magician". Activates "Polymerization", fusing "Arcanite Magician" and "Breaker the Magical Warrior" (in his hand) to summon "Supreme Arcanite Magician" (3400 ATK). Activates "Supreme Arcanite Magician's" effect, removing 1 Spell Counter to draw 1 card ("SAM" ATK: 2400). Activates "Black Pendant" ("SAM" ATK: 2900). Sets 1 card.

Kyle:

Activates "Dark World Dealings", drawing and then discarding "Genex Recycled". Normal Summons "R-Genex Accelerator". Activates "Double Summon", Normal Summoning "Genex Undine", whose effect sends "Genex Undine" to the Graveyard to add "Genex Controller" to the hand. "R-Genex Accelerator's" effect reveals "Genex Controller" and Special Summons it. Synchro Summons "Hydro Genex".

Activates "Level Tuning", reducing the Level of all monsters by 1. Activates "Monster Reborn", Special Summoning "Genex Recycled". Synchro Summons "Armory Arm". Equips "Armory Arm" to "Hydro Genex" (ATK: 2300 -> 3300). Attacks and destroys "Supreme Arcanite Magician". (Opponent LP: 3000 -> 2600 -> 0)

And I know nothing about the deck.

When you write a fic, you will encounter Decks that you've never come across. So you learn how to use them. Doesn't take more than half an hour to learn the basics. And after a couple of test runs, you usually find what doesn't work and what does, and you can improve it for the fic version. And doing that improves your ability to play the game in the long run.

You can see that above. I've added a trio of cards ("R-Genex Accelerator", "Dark World Dealings" and "Monster Reborn") since they made the Deck run more smoothly when I tried them out.
