Newb Defense League III [locked because remake]

Recommended Posts

I design them as 'boosters', so I run with 30-odd Main Deck Monsters, about a dozen Extra Deck Monsters, then a roughly equal number of Spells and Traps, depending on how many I have of each. In my current set, I have rather more Spells than Traps, so they'll probably only be about 10 or 12 Traps compared to almost 20 Spells.

In other news though, I've got a new laptop!

Ah. Mine are mostly at random (probebly something like 55ish Effect/Normal monsters 25-35 Extra Deck cards and the rest Spells/Traps).

@ CVD:

I've never been fond of Contests (and Poketathlon and Musicals); I always end up just hacking that I've won them all. Except in Emeraly, where I did win them all.

If you're interested, the five Pokemon I used for that were as follows:

Tough:

Lairon

Yellow Scarf

Tackle, Take Down, Iron Defense, Headbutt

(Take Down’s negative effect is offset by Iron Defense, and Headbutt is for use if you’re second in line)

Cool:

Skarmory

Red Scarf

Peck, Steel Wing, Swift, Air Cutter

(Designed to take advantage of the all-Cool movesets used in the final couple of contests)

Beauty:

Spheal

Blue Scarf

Dive, Ice Ball, Surf, Aurora Beam

(Mainly designed to prevent it from being startled, and to manipulate the audience excitement until the right time)

Smart:

Gardevoir

Green Scarf

Confusion, Psychic, Hypnosis, Dream Eater

(A heavily-startling moveset, designed to constantly knock points off your opponents so that the initial stage of judging has more effect on the result)

Cute:

Barboach

Pink Scarf

Mud-Slap, Water Sport, Water Gun, Mud Sport

(A low-risk set-up to consistently score four hearts, and to punish anything that scores more than you)

EDIT: Looking through my Emerald boxes has reminded me of the effort I put into my team...so many TMs and Move Tutors...

Well I've finally decided to finish a mini-set I've been working on. You might remember seeing some of the cards before Max, but I've added twice as much since then.

So if anyone of you want to comment on it, it would be apriciated: http://s1178.photobu...exisAndLex/Lex/

I'll have a look (but that's only a link to your image archive).

I've been looking back through my Gen I, II and III games, and because I didn't have Action Replay or PokeSav until Diamond; I had to put a huge amount of effort into getting the best team...

[spoiler=Generation I]

Dragonite

Wing Attack, Strength, Ice Punch, Thunderpunch

(Since I restarted my Red after starting Gold, I was further in Gold than Red. So, I caught a Dratini, raised it until one Level beneath final evolution and sent it into the future so that it learnt Wing Attack when it evolved. I then taught it Ice Punch and Thunderpunch via TM.)

Alazakam

Psychic, Recover, Ice Punch, Thunderpunch

(Using the trade itself to evolve my Red's Kadabra, I then taught it the same TMs I taught Dragonite, since you could buy endless numbers in Goldenrod City. Ice and Electric being Special Types meant both 'punches' were powerful options.)

Gengar

Psychic, Thunderbolt, Mega Drain, Fire Punch

(Gengar's huge Special stat meant Mega Drain was a feasible option, and once again, time travel was used to allow it access to Fire Punch.)

Dugtrio

Earthquake, Tri-Attack, Rock Slide, Toxic

(A paradox Pokemon, being used three years before it was born. It was the only way to give it access to Tri-Attack, which was needed because I'd used my Body Slam TM. I gave it Toxic through my Gold TM, since Dewgong had also sucked up my Red Toxic TM.)

Charizard

Flamethrower, Rock Slide, Earthquake, Fly

(Another paradox. I started with Squirtle, but found that I could breed Rock Slide onto a Charmander, so sent that back in time to use as I had a powerful Water-Type, Dewgong.)

Dewgong

Surf, Ice Beam, Body Slam, Toxic

(One of the better bulky Pokemon from Generation I, I was always fond of Dewgong, and the fact it could sink Lance with ease. Once everything became Lv.100, I used up Toxic to give it an unexpected edge.)

Meh, sounds fair... That Aerodactyl, why?

Because the Rare Candy Cheat allows you to get Lv.160 Aerodactyls appearing. I caught one, and if you only use Rare Candys (which you'll have a large supply of following the cheat), you can get it up to Lv.255 before the game clocks over and reverts to Lv.100. As long as you only use it in Experience-less battles, it stays at that ridiculous Level.

Also? Do you use Pkmn from previous gens in the newer Gens (excluding Gen V of course), Like only using Hoenn original's in R/S/E?

In G/S/C, I tried to get a team of purely Gen II Pokemon, since I wanted to see how they differed from the Gen I Pokemon, despite the Gen Is running about everywhere. So I ended up with Typhlosion, Xatu (yeah, I know!), Heracross, Ampharos, Kingdra, and Tyranitar. After I got into Kanto by ferry, I tried out Dewgong, Charizard, and Dragonite, but their movesets were lacking, and I was low on TMs, having lavished them on my main team. As such, I never changed them around.

Since then, before I get the National Dex, I like to only use Pokemon of that Generation, because it allows me to see if they're any good. However, after I get the expanded PokeDex, I tend to revert to the team I've used in most games post-story since Sapphire: Salamence, Ninetales, Gardevoir, Ampharos, Milotic, and Sceptile, or at least have those Pokemon ready if needed.

Funny enough, I actually accedentaly only used Gen III pkmn in Emerald (can't remember which ones exactly though as the game deleted itself, I can't even restart it anymore!).

I didn't do that in Diamond/Pearl, but then decided to stick with the exclusives in SS and Platinum (though now my team mostly consists out of Gen IVs).

And Xatu's an awesome Pkmn, you should be proud of using one.

*Checks Emerald and Diamond* My pre-National teams in those game were:

Emerald: Salamence, Gardevoir, Sharpedo, Cacturne, Claydol, Aggron

Diamond: Empoleon, Staraptor, Luxray, Honchkrow, Garchomp, Lucario

But that said, I did actively seek out Hoenn and Sinnoh Pokemon.

Okay(!)

@Max: Ah, so the usual huh, I see, I've been looking for jobs and doing lots of stuff, and still trying to figure out my natural talent, probably don't have one, but I believe everyone has a purpose of some sort and thats what I'm trying to find out as of lately....

Hmm, in that pack, you get another stardust variant card, right? One that uses stardust draon or variation of a stardust....?

Any of you know/don't know or has found their goals/life purposes? Oh, and I guess just to be funny,

"Happy year of the dragon"....lol....Of course my chinese zodiac is a horse and my western zodiac is gemini, which is the symbol for twins, so I'm a Twin Horse....Now even more auspiring or not is my brother is a dragon, so this year is 50/50 for him, shouldn't it be good for him? Oh well....

Got a love how chinese people think....

Not to my knowledge. The only link to the 5Ds era is the release of the retooled Dark Synchros "Dark Flattop" and "Dark Diviner".

I believe such a purpose will only reveal itself when it is needed. Otherwise its potential would be wasted.

Well, I'm a Sagittarian Yang Metal Horse, so I end up as pretty consistant.

And the Chinese are simply using creatures from their mythology in the same way we did to name the stars.

I can't say I know anyone who's found thier life's purpose, but that's quite a discussable subject. So I'd say they might've, but just don't know it yet.

Personally I'm a Gemini Water Rooster... Yes, I'm basicly a Twin Duck.

Also Max, how do you know if you're Yin or Yang?
