Newb Defense League III [locked because remake]

Recommended Posts

Hehe, perhaps. Though I haven't tried to breed other pseudo-legendaries yet, so I wouldn't know about them.

All I know is that I gave up trying to breed a Gible in Diamond since I kept getting Sp.Atk-boosting natures...

Mhh, I'm not shure about removing the Pots of Duality, but I shall try this strategy out.

Then leave one in, and side the other.

You could try a Sp.Attacking Garchomp... I remember seeing one somewhere, it wasn't very good though.

Well I tried to duel with the modification you told me, and it's A LOT faster then my previous one.

But I did try one last duel with my old one. And I won with a OTK! Against a Gravekeeper's Deck! Though it was 2/3 and I only one once out of 3.

It wouldn't be. As I remember, Garchomp's ATK is 140, while its Sp.Atk is 60; so a Modest nature turns that into 126 and 66; which is a sizeable loss of ATK for a pitiful Sp.Atk gain...

It should be quicker now that you have a lot more search capability.

Well done. It would still be good enough to beat Yuma though right?

True, thank god Hydreigon still has a relativly high ATK Stat, otherwise I would've been screwed. (My hydreigon has a nature that raises it's Def for S.Atk, so basicly the worst nature it could have.) Hence it runs Outrage over Dragon Pulse.

I've Summoned the Xyz's more then I can count.

Not as long as he has the main-character shield on, but against his Deck. Yeah, I'd still probely win.

I seem to be quite lucky with my team's Natures, mainly because I caught two or three, and chose only the best one. That said, my Sawk isn't great, and my Sigilyph is a neutral nature, so it isn't any better or worse (but it means it's slower than it could be). My Litwick (now a Chandelure) also hatched with a Modest nature, and EV-training now has it gaining 5 Sp.Atk every Level(!) Also, what do you think it would be best to train Galvantula in? Sp.Atk or Speed? (As in, either max out its Speed or pull its Sp.Atk up a notch)

You will. They're very quick when they get going, the "Evols".

It makes you wonder what sort of deux-ex the writers would force in for him to come back from a situation like your full-field OTK.

Almost my entire team either has neutral natures or bad natures. But I don't mind that much tbh.

Yes, I recently tried EV training aswell, and I must say, after the long training is over, it really is worth the effort.

Galvantula, I'd say give it some Sp.Atk. Combined with Compoundeyes Thunder it'll just 'r@pe' everything on it's path. It has high enough speed even without a lot of investments.

Probebly somekindof 1 turn long Kuriboh. And then he would counter with a OT Hope... O wait, I still had Soldde... Hehehe.

I was going to give it Thunderbolt, but that's because I don't have the Thunder TM... I might work my way through the Battle Subway some more to get another 48 BP and buy some Wise Glasses to boost it a bit. I might also have an Expert Belt to give to Chandelure...but due to the fact almost all your Items are now in one long list, it's going to take some time to confirm that...

Indeed.

Of course! "Kuriboh"! Useless in the real game, but apparently the companion of all great duelists!

Actually if you'd just go to the Iccarus City PokéMarkt you can buy Thunder, Fire Blast and Blizzard there for 70000 Poké each.

I can't quite remember Yusei having one, but beside him, everyone has one of the 'Kuriboh' family.

70,000?! I'll need to sell multiple Relic items to pay for that....

He was too busy spamming "Synchron"s to put one in. And Luna had one.

But you will be able to use it an infinate amount of times. So just see it as an investment.

But how many times did Luna actually duel? 3 times?

Pokemon's becoming a bit too down-to-earth if 10-year-olds are required to make investments...

Um...

vs. Duel Profiler

vs. Devak (with Leo)

vs. Lucciano (with Leo)

vs. Aporia (with Jack and Leo)

Four, I think. But only once on her own, and with "Kuribon".

Ehem, Pokémon's not just for kids. How else would you explain EV's, moves like Wring Out and competative battles?

I really think she's the 'filler' Signer tbh. And I even calculated Crow in that!

I know, I know. I just like the image of two 10-year-olds discussing a two-year economic plan so that they can afford both TMs and general Items.

I think she was meant to get a bigger role in the Dark Signer arc, but that got sidelined in favor of Aki's development.

Lol, that does sounds quite awesome. But do remember, the main characters in Gen V are 16, not 10 + a character that actually has some background to it (which hasn't been seen since Gen I(I)) gives me the idea it was more directed to an somewhat more adult audiance then the previous Gens.

Which on it's own part was just thrown away in Season 2.

I still don't like N...

There is also a lot more subtle messaging in B/W. A fair amount of anti-war stuff, and general co-operation theories. However, what I don't get is why Reshiram (Truths) is Yang (Active), while Zekrom (Ideals) is Yin (Passive). Surely it would be the other way round; ideals are the active, unbridled side of human minds, while the truths are what stay firm.

Yes. So it was all a little pointless really...

True.

Well you could see truth as somethi... Well.... Uhm.... Lets say.... I'll come back on that one.

Yes. So it was all a little pointless really...

Exactly. And GX, the Black Sheep of the family, is still the one series of YGO with the most character development.

I don't like how one-dimensional his goals are. Split people and Pokemon. Then what? Do we retreat from Unova and leave it as a Pokemon reserve? Or do we stay in places like Black City and Opelucid City and never go outside while the Pokemon roam in the Routes and caves? I would just like for his whole plan to make sense. He even admits it himself that he was taken aback by all the Pokemon he spoke to that enjoyed being with their trainers; and he must realise that without humans several Pokemon cannot become 'perfect beings', since they need humans to evolve!

Yes, the one in which the main character dies because of 4Kids! I am starting to slowly like GX (although only while subbed).

@Max: Sorry, what I miss again, I know I keep going onoff, but internet shenanagins is getting to tiresome for me, and I'm going to spend tomorrow away from the internet again, well, maybe, it depends on stuff.....

'When your Life Points are reduced to 0 (from 8000 or more) by 1 attack:..'

Close, but what I should have said, it don't matter what life points you had, as long (Only 1 monster) was used and Only when it reduced your life points to 0, you can activate it......

So, I attack your lifepoints with a 1200 attack monster, and you became 0. or I attacked you with an 10000 attack monster who I have no clue got that high, and reduced your Life Points to 0,.......

So,

Maybe like this,

When your Life Points are reduced to 0 by 1 attack: Like yours, only wthout the parenthesis, or is there a different way of wording it?

I'm not positive....

@Lex: So, I know you were having laptop problems, did you get it fixed or found another solution?

--------------

Edit: I saw you talking about Luna's duels, don't forget the skateboard duel or whatever that was.....Also, my fav. characters out yugioh 5ds was Yusei, Luna, and Crow.....

@ Lex: EV-Training-wise, your idea was right; my Joltik now has higher Sp.Atk than Speed. However, at Level 50, I'll switch over to Speed EV-training to give that a sizable boost as well.

That was vs. Lucciano.

And I don't know whether it's a trope used only by YGO, or by other anime, but why is the main rival almost always played for comedy? (Re: Chazz and Jack)

@Max: Thank you, just had to wonder.....Thanks... and Yes, it was by that weird guy, I have to wonder what that filler was for, really, I thank they could have skipped it, then again, i liked watching luna battle, alone, as she seemed more confident by herself then with leo (Most annoying kid) around here....

About the comedy part, I'm not sure how or where you come up with that, but the ending of 5ds was not funny, it was more just, stupid and cut off short......

It was because a majority of their writers were busy writing "3D Bonds Beyond Time", but they needed to keep churning out episodes once a week, so everything was done a bit haphazardly and without any large plot developments.

Think about it; when Chazz and Jack were introduced, they were aggressive and capable duelists with genuine motives and backstories. However, as the series progressed, both had aspects of their personalities expanded to stupidity. Chazz's affection for Alexis, and his Deck were both played for comedy; until the point where both just become ludicrous. In Jack's case, his general outlook and ability to interact with people was what was ruined, and it just hurts the characters.

We want to see a secondary protagonist; because it gives us an alternate view of good dueling. It's a foil to the main hero's tactical and low-Level Deck (usually involving Warriors): A highly aggressive, high-Level beatdown Deck (usually involving Dragons). We don't want to see someone who is meant to be taken seriously cheerleading or just being hugely incompetant.

@Max: Well, i wouldn't know about chazz and all of them if it was for the ps2 game, The Beginning of Destiny or something and thats the only far I get with those people, so I really wouldn't know if they played comedy, other then that chazz did blush around alexis alot....which is romance imo then comedy....romance isn't comedy, that I know of anyhow, unless 2 clowns fell in love, then it might be....Hmm, thought of 2 cards to make now....lol

All I wanted to see is an upgrade on Luna and Her dragons, and same for Aki.....and the story to actually continue from their end, to see yusei die would be hilarious and bad though.........

Yes, but he became prone to rambling statements of affection that were constantly shot down by Alexis, laughed at by others, and generally destroyed any dignity the character had. It was a running joke, like the slow but steady removal of Bastion from the series; another poor decision.

Japanese writing doesn't work like that though. Only the central character(s) gets the most development, and in YGO that goes in the form of duels and an improved Deck.

Max: Well, stupid japanese people.....(No offense-) But become more smart and end things appropiately......... The only thing japanese I liked wasn't really japanese as I found out, it french/?? something else...

But anyhow, currently working on a duo cards......

Anything anyone else is up to lately?
