@Mr.Striker: Yea, Old school still rocks out, hence even in yugioh....;)

@all: Well, even though this club talks alot about yugioh and everything, I still try and help newbs when needed, I've been trying to figure out away in the TCG section when a newb posts there with their designs in showcase and gets so badly critiqued, they end up leaving. I really despise that area b/c of that, but I've learned my lesson there 2......But anyway, we all try to help newbs out in our very own way which makes this club suited for us....

Lex, Max, Mr.Striker, Me, and Alexis all have our own ways in helping people.......Do you have one Daemon?

The more I look at it, the more the new OCG infuriates me. It's the older Trap cards that seem to have really suffered in the tranistion. Two examples:

Dust Tornado

Old OCG: Select 1 Spell/Trap Card your opponent controls and destroy it. Then, you can Set 1 Spell/Trap Card from your hand.

New OCG: Target 1 Spell/Trap Card your opponent controls; destroy that target. Then you can Set 1 Spell or Trap Card from your hand.

In their attempt to make the wording clearer, Konami have managed to make it longer, and more confusing. What was wrong with the old wording?!

Trap Hole

Old OCG: Activate only when your opponent Normal or Flip Summons a monster with 1000 or more ATK. Destroy it.

New OCG: When your opponent Normal Summons or Flip Summons 1 monster with 1000 or more ATK: Target that monster; destroy that target.

It's longer, harder to read; and actually quite a pointless re-write. Thanks Konami!!

They were going for easy to understand MONSTER effects.

That may be, but was:

'When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 EARTH monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Deck in Attack Position.'

really that confusing compared to:

'When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 EARTH monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Deck, in face-up Attack Position.'

?

We all know that Special Summons, by default, are face-up, so why does it need to be written?

1. Giant Rat for example.

2. I don't know. The only card that does face-down Attack is "Darkness Approaches".

It was the easiest reprint card from the Starter Deck to example. It is odd isn't it? Maybe the guides no longer say that Special Summons are always face-up, unless said otherwise in the effects?

Just had to deal with someone who thought my card "March of the Sacrificed" ('Destroy 1 monster in your Extra Deck to draw 1 card.') was insanely overpowered because he believed you could then use "REDMD" to re-Summon the destroyed monster...

Flip effect abuse anyone?

Really? They must be dumb. Semi-Nomi monsters, such as all Extra Deck monsters, must be Special Summoned properly, you get what I mean, to be Special Summoned from the Graveyard.

Something interesting; there are no Flip Effect Monsters in the Starter Deck. Clearly they don't think beginner's should know about them, since they're not in the guide either. Nor are Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, Union, Gemini, Spirit or Tuner Monsters. You would have thought that a beginner guide, albeit one lashed in with an Exceed Deck would tell players how to play the game in an appendix or final section.

Well, maybe they've never actually played the game...
