Newb Defense League III [locked because remake]

Ah, makes sense. But how did you incorperate "Felgrand", it's quite hard to actually use properly.

Making sure I had as many of the Special Summoning "Fableds" as possible, and "Fiend's Sanctuary" to provide a second tribute. After it was destroyed, "Monster Reborn" provided a means to revive it.

Mhh, didn't think of that. And then select a high lvl Synchro as its boost, am I right?

Almost. In the original version of her Deck, that was true (A "Fabled"/Dragon Synchro Deck). This time, I used "Prime Material Dragon" as the fodder, discarding it with "Monster Reincarnation" and not actually summoning it.

Mhh, well that also works.

Also I have some problems with the following Lore:

Both players can look through their opponent's Extra Deck. Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can select 1 Exceed Monster in your opponent's Extra Deck. If your opponent controls the required Exceed Material Monsters to Exceed Summon the selected monster, Exceed Summon it to your opponent's side of the field.

Basicly a forcefull Exceed Summon, but I'm pretty shure I screwed it up.

I think it's alright. When more Exceed Support comes out, we'll know the exact terminology to use.

@Lexadin: The effect look okay to me, but I'm wondering, why force them to exceed summon? Use another card to get rid of it or something? I'm not sure, oh well....

For use with an Exceed version of "Tuner's Scheme"/"Tuner Capture". Or just to get rid of it.

@ Lex: What do you think of this effect? Balanced or not?

Fableds' Poisoned Radiance: Quick-Play Spell Card: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to the combined Levels of “Fabled” monsters you control x 100. Also, if this card was Set before being activated, this turn, each time a monster you control attacks, inflict 200 damage to your opponent.

Basically, since the "Fableds'" Synchros are slightly low on ATK for their Level, this could provide the finishing blow, or just hasten your opponent's demise.

Ok, I'll await more support then.

Like Max said, more for abuse with Anti-Exceed Decks/cards. I'm pretty shure an Exceed ME will eventually show its/thier face. Also so that the opp will use thier mons, so they will lose field advantige.

Mhh, I can see where you where aiming at. But I think its last effect somewhat OP's it. Try making it when they inflict damage instead.

@ Lex: I'll change that. Thanks. Also on the subject of anti-Exceed, the 'Exceed ME' as you put it might take the form of a monster that simply stops Exceed Summons, paralyzing Yuma's Deck.

@ White: "Synchro Ejection"? "Intercept Wave" is better in some ways. And "Tuner's Scheme" is pure evil.

*sigh* I have the same thing.

How is studying turning into a fan-fic?

Well, I was studying. Then my eye was caught by some of my "Hidden Arsenal 4" doubles, specifically some of the "Fableds". That got me researching the "Fableds" and led to the duel idea, which I then wrote. And I am, on and off, writing that duel in full form...

LOL. That's quite an interesting way to start a fic.

One word that could describe that course of events...

[spoiler=1. Of Fallen Angels]The dark grey ruins spread out for miles. On the horizon, the brightly-lit towers of Neo Domino City shone out against the orange light of sunset. Picking his way through the mass of twisted metal, crumbled concrete and acrylic shards, Philip came across the remains of a highway he recognised. Looking around, the silhouette, or at least part of it, of a once-proud skyscraper caught his eye. Memories of Ataxia flooded his mind.

This was the building he’d fled to the Underworld through. Someone had had the bright idea to connect the basement with the mass of tunnels in case of catastrophe. Silently, Philip thanked his unknown savoir. As he walked down the cracked tarmac, a small reflective square caught his eye. It was a card. Specifically, ‘Fabled Krus’. He picked it up without thinking.

“You shouldn’t take what doesn’t belong to you.” Philip span round. A young woman, dressed in what appeared to be a black jumpsuit was standing behind him, her shadow extended by the twilight. The light also highlighted a faint dark aura swirling around her, alerting Philip.

“Who are-“

“I’m Verena. And I know who you are. You’re the Emissary who defeated Aurelius.”

“You’re his friend?”

“Ally.” Verena quickly corrected. “I find little time for friendships. But I digress. We are going to duel. Now.” She then activated her duel disk.

“You’re impatient, aren’t you?”

“A minute waited is a minute wasted. You of all people should know that if you slow down, you’ll lose precious moments.” Philip simply looked away. “Now, let’s begin!”

“Duel!”

Turn 1

“I’ll take the first move.” Started Verena. Looking down at her hand, she grimaced. “It appears that my god wants to start this duel with a flow of painful memories for both of us.” Philip stayed silent. “I activate ‘Final Destiny’! By discarding five cards from my hand, it destroys all cards on the field!”

The road cracked as the heat of a raging inferno burst through, erupting into a mushroom cloud. The blast wave tore through the ravaged streets, ripping the weaker buildings apart. Philip was floored by a flying chunk of concrete. As he lay on the ground, Verena’s aura grew in strength as her memories surged through her.

“Why…why did you do that? There were no cards on the field to destroy!” Philip struggled back to his feet.

“Two reasons. First, to show that our pasts are the same. Both of our lives were destroyed by Ataxia, albeit in different ways. You lost your entire family while I lost everything I had gained in my career. Ataxia destroyed my infrastructure, and confidence in the stock market plummeted. My company collapsed, and my debts spiralled. A failed venture sent me over the edge.”

“You tried to kill yourself…”

“So, you know that part of the process? Aurelius was obviously more candid than he was ordered to be. Yes, I jumped. Next thing I knew, the ‘Eraser’ was telling me it could give me the ability to find and punish those who were responsible for Ataxia. I wanted to know who had destroyed me.”

“Revenge is a powerful emotion…” Was all Philip could say.

“It is. But I used ‘Final Destiny’ for it cost, not its effect. Since I discarded my hand, the monsters in my Graveyard now activate!” Philip’s eyes widened. Because they were discarded, ‘The Fabled Ganashia’, ‘The Fabled Cubbarel’ and ‘Fabled Lurrie’ all Special Summon themselves!” The trio of monsters all appeared, shrouded by the same aura that cloaked Verena. “Then, ‘Fabled Kruz’ Special Summons ‘The Fabled Rubyruda’ from my Graveyard. I tune ‘The Fabled Cubbarel’ and ‘The Fabled Ganashia’ together!”

The eternal dark heart, show yourself to me in the form of your servant. Betray the divine and reveal your dark wings! Synchro Summon! Fallen angel, Fabled Ragin!

The masked demon appeared in a mix of light and darkness, laughing madly. “’Fabled Ragin’s’ effect activates. Since I have less than two cards in my hand, I can draw cards until I hold two cards. My hand is empty, so I draw two.” She smiled at the pair of cards. “I then set one card and activate ‘De-Synchro’, returning ‘Fabled Ragin’ to my Extra Deck to Special Summon its Synchro Materials from my Graveyard.”

The creature disappeared, being replaced by ‘The Fabled Cubbarel’. “Unfortunately, ‘The Fabled Ganashia’ removes itself from play when it is Special Summoned by its effect, so only ‘The Fabled Cubbarel’ can be revived. But it doesn’t matter. I tune ‘The Fabled Rubyruda’ and ‘Fabled Lurrie’ together to Synchro Summon ‘Fabled Ragin’!”

Once again, the fiend emerged from the darkness. “And like last time, my hand is empty, so I can draw two cards. Because I haven’t Normal Summoned this turn, I summon ‘Fabled Raven’; then tune ‘Raven’ and ‘Ragin’ together!”

The eternal dark heart, let your power flow through this being. Rise against the heavens with your dark form! Synchro Summon! Fallen angel, Fabled Valkyris!

A different, but equally colourful demon revealed itself from the shadows, grinning sadistically. “That ends my turn.”

“Right, my turn.” Philip began, surprised at his opponent’s successful first move. “I activate ‘Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen’. Once per turn, if I control no monsters, I can Special Summon a Fairy-Type monster from my hand. I use it to Special Summon ‘Majestic Mech – Goryu’.” The synthetic angel roared as it spiralled in the sky, its light vanquishing some of the approaching darkness of night. “I then Normal Summon ‘Bountiful Artemis’ in Defense Position. Next, because I control two LIGHT monsters, I can Special Summon ‘Guardian of Order’ from my hand. I then equip ‘Parshath’s Blade’ to ‘Guardian of Order’.”

“Majestic Mech – Goryu’ attacks your defending ‘The Fabled Cubbarel’. And ‘Goryu’s’ effect means it inflicts Piercing Damage! Searing Light!”

“That won’t work. I activate ‘Widespread Ruin’!” As Philip’s monster’s attack hit, it detonated, the blast wave returning to ‘Goryu’, destroying it. “’Widespread Ruin’, when my opponent declares an attack, destroys the monster they control with the highest ATK.”

“Fine. ‘Guardian of Order’ attacks ‘The Fabled Cubbarel’!” The small dog was sliced in two by the fairy’s blade. “I set one card face-down to end.”

Turn 3

“My turn. I activate ‘Monster Reincarnation’, discarding a card to return one monster in my Graveyard to my hand. I return ‘Fabled Krus’. I then use ‘Fabled Valkyris’’ effect. By discarding a Fiend-Type monster from my hand, I can draw one card. I discard ‘Fabled Krus’, whose effect Special Summons ‘The Fabled Cubbarel’ from my Graveyard. I tune my two monsters together!”

The eternal dark heart, thou hast seen it fit to gift your ally. Banish the light and claim the heavens as your own! Synchro Summon! Deceiver of the gods, Fabled Leviathan!

That's what I call a successfull turn, 2 Ragin's in 1 turn + only usefull Fableds.

Tbh, Fableds are my 2nd fav archtype that contains Synchros (the 1st being the Aliens who are also my overal fav). I dunno why, it's probebly because of the "Fallen Angel" part of them.

Max, you make me smile...

And there was some mention of a new Type some time back...I thought about it and then an idea came to me. The type would be "Exotic" like Exotic particles. I was watching the show Eureka and that idea popped into my head.

Possibly. I'm still not too keen on them.

[spoiler=2. The Dark Heart’s Form]

The eternal dark heart, thou hast seen it fit to gift your ally. Banish the light and claim the heavens as your own! Synchro Summon! Deceiver of the gods, Fabled Leviathan!

From the surrounding wreckage, a demonic throne took shape, the summoned monster taking its position. “’Fabled Leviathan’ attacks your ‘Guardian of Order’! Twilight Betrayal!” The masked demon’s eyes glowed as it readied occult energies in its hands. It then launched the luminous sphere at Philip’s monster.

“I activate ‘Negate Attack’, stopping your attack and ending the Battle Phase! And because ‘Negate Attack’ is a Counter Trap Card, ‘Bountiful Artemis’ allows me to draw a card.”

“In that case, I set one card face down and end my turn.”

“My turn!” Philip looked at his hand. Nothing in it could provide a turnaround, at least not yet. “I set two cards face down, and end.”

Turn 5

“Since you’re not going to attack, I’ll bring the battle to you. I activate the effect of ‘Fabled Arca’, sending it to the Graveyard to draw two cards, and then discarding them both.” From her duel disk’s Graveyard, a light shone out. “The trap card ‘Fableds’ Seismic Light’, because it was discarded, Sets itself on the field.”

“So even their traps can rescue themselves from the grave?”

“Yes. After all, fallen angels are still divine. Anything their power is imbued in is difficult to kill. But we’re wasting time. ‘Fabled Leviathan’ attacks ‘Guardian of Order’! Twilight Betrayal!” Again, the burst of light shot towards Philip’s monster.

“You’re too aggressive. I activate ‘Poison of the Old Man’, a Spell which increases my Life Points by 1200!” (Philip LP: 4000 -> 5200)

“So what, damage mitigation?”

“Not at all! It’s now my ‘Parshath’s Blade’ Equip Spell becomes active! While my Life Points are higher than my opponent’s the monster it’s equipped to gains ATK equal to the difference. Since there’s a 1200 point gap, ‘Guardian of Order’ is now at 3100 ATK! Purging Radiance!” Philip’s monster parried and deflected Verena’s attack and cut through ‘Fabled Leviathan’, the demon screaming as it shattered. “And since that inflicted damage to you, ‘Guardian of Order’s’ ATK grows even more!” (Verena LP: 4000 -> 3900) (Guardian of Order ATK: 3100 -> 3150)

“Well, you’ve made my life easier.”

“Hmm?”

“Not only have you put ’Fabled Leviathan’ in the Graveyard, but you’ve activated its effect, which returns three ‘Fabled’ monsters in my Graveyard to my hand. Also, to ‘Leviathan’s’ effect, I chain the Trap Card ‘Legend’s Return’. This, when a ‘Fabled’ monster I control is destroyed during my turn, also returns a ‘Fabled’ monster in my Graveyard to my hand. I choose ‘The Fabled Cubbarel’, while with ‘Leviathan’, I return ‘Fabled Krus’, ‘Fabled Raven’ and ‘The Fabled Rubyruda’.”

“Great…”

“However, that attack did leave me wide open, so I’ll summon ‘The Fabled Rubyruda’ to defend myself. I end.”

“My turn!” Philip knew there was a reason Verena had summoned ‘The Fabled Rubyruda’ in Attack Position. Since she couldn’t have ‘Honest’ in her hand, she clearly wanted him to attack it. It probably had an effect that would make his life worse at any rate. “I set one card face-down and end my turn.” This seemed to annoy his opponent.

“Why are you stalling?!”

“Because it’s the strategic thing to do. More times than not, rushing in while you are ignorant of your opponent’s abilities creates more problems than it solves.”

“Silence!”

Turn 7

“Like I said before, I clearly need to bring the battles to you, since you seem so intent to avoid them! I summon ‘Fabled Raven’ and-“

“To that, I activate ‘Forced Back’. It both negates the Normal Summon of your monster and returns it to your hand. And since it is a Counter Trap, ‘Bountiful Artemis’ allows me to draw a card.”

“I can’t do anything else, so I end my turn!” Her anger was clear.

“My turn!” A new thought crossed Philip’s mind; if he could rile Verena enough, she might start making mistakes, and that could give him an opening. “I set one card face-down and end.”

“Can’t you do something?!” Verena exclaimed.

“Clearly not.” Philip smirked.

Turn 9

“Draw!” Verena sneered at the drawn card. “Finally! I activate ‘Trade-In’, discarding ‘Fabled Dianaira’ to draw two cards! I Set one card on the field, and then activate ‘Card Destruction’. We both discard our hands, and then draw a number of cards equal to the number we lost. Now, because I discarded ‘The Fabled Cubbarel’, it Special Summons itself. And ‘Fabled Krus’ Special Summons ‘Fabled Arca’!” The pair of monsters once again appeared on the field, revived from the grave.

“I then Set another card, and activate ‘Shining Rebirth’. This card allows me to send Synchro Material Monsters I control to the Graveyard in order to Synchro Summon a Synchro Monster from my Graveyard. It also prevents that monster from being destroyed this turn. I tune ‘The Fabled Cubbarel’ and ‘Fabled Arca’ together to Synchro Summon ‘Fabled Ragin’ from the grave!”

The tuning rings burst out of the tarmac before parting to reveal the Synchro Monster. “Remember ‘Fabled Ragin’s’ effect? Since I only have one card in my hand, I can draw a card. Then, from my field, I activate ‘Hammer Shot’, a card that destroys the monster on the field with the highest ATK. That would be your ‘Guardian of Order’!”

“Hold it! I chain “Dark Bribe”, which at the cost of letting you draw a card, negates your effect and destroys it.”

“Unfortunately for you, I activate ‘Fableds’ Seismic Light’! Consider it a ‘Fabled’-specific version of your trap, and like yours, it negates and destroys your card.” ‘Hammer Shot’ resolved, shattering Philip’s monster.

“However, since your card was a Counter Trap Card, ‘Bountiful Artemis’ allows me to draw a card.”

“That last line of defence won’t last for long.” Verena’s eyes darkened, and the aura surrounding her spread to the ruins. Philip knew what was coming. “I tribute both my monsters!”

Glorious servant of the dark heart, rise in twilight and bring chaos. May the blood of the fallen fuel your rage! Show yourself in this duel! Felgrand Dragon!

The gigantic dragon roared in triumph as it appeared, the shockwaves threatening to force other buildings to collapse. Verena’s eyes went black as the dragonic beast took its position, glaring down at its opponent. “Now, to ‘Felgrand Dragon’, I equip ‘Fairy Meteor Crush’! This gives the equipped monster the ability to inflict Piercing Damage! Come, ‘Felgrand Dragon’, blast through to his Life Points! Solace Burst!”
