"Hey! I have a card like that!" Akira said, apparently interested. He slid his own Fusion Tuner into a slot in his Duel Disk, which scanned the card and sent an image of it to Zero's D-Wheel. "Also, while you attacked those Turbo Duelists, one of them dropped this" Akira pulled out a card he had picked up near the duelists who assaulted them and scanned it. The image of this new card was also sent to Zero's D-Wheel. "I noticed that its traits match your description: The Level of the card is 14, which according to you means it's a so-called Infinity Synchro" Akira said, while removing the 2 cards from the scanning slot of his duel disk.

1 "Blackwing" monster + 1 "Blackwing" monster

This card can only be Special Summoned from your Extra Deck by removing from play the above cards you control. (You do not use "Polymerization".) This card's Attribute is also treated as LIGHT. Once per turn, while you have 1 or more "Blackwing" monsters in your Graveyard, you can negate 1 attack. When this card is used as a Synchro-material monster, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the Synchro Summoned monster's Level x200.

This card can only be Synchro Summoned during the Battle Phase. Your opponent must attack this card with each monster they control. When this card destroys a monster by battle, it gains 1000 ATK. When this card is destroyed, you can remove from play 3 cards from your opponent's Graveyard to Special Summon it to your side of the field in face-up Defense Position.

"Huh. There's no way that this can just be coincidence. " Zero thought. "That card... That's another Spirit Tuner, and the other one, I recognize that. That's one of the Generic Infinity Synchros. I must say that I'm suprised that you have your own Spirit Tuner, and I'm glad you got hold of that Infinity Synchro." Zero said, as an announcement was made that a Duel was starting on the lane Zero and Akira were on, forcing them to move. "Say... Since we have to take the long way to the City, what say you and I have a Duel. Maybe this will help us achieve the Spirit Synchro." Zero asked Akira.

"Well, sure..." Akira replied, questionably. "However, if we're going to achieve the Spirit Synchro, I can't use my Blackwings. I haven't been completely truthful to you. Blackwings is only the deck I use for fun. If we're dueling for these purposes, I have to use my other deck" Akira pulled a deck out of another deck holster, one with a white star on it, and placed it in his Duel Disk. Akira pressed a button on his duel disk. A computerized digital voice spoke:

AUTOPILOT ENGAGED; DUEL START.

"Alright, Zero! Let's go!" Akira shouted as his duel disk activated. His Duel Board glowed for a minute and the gems on the back merged into a wing-looking object.

"This time, I'll start!"

Akira drew 5 cards, then picked up another one as his Speed Counters rose to 1.

"I place 3 cards face-down!" Akira shouted, as 3 face-down card holograms showed up and disappeared.

"Your move" he gestured to Zero.

"So you have another Deck, huh? This'll be interesting. Alright, My turn, Draw! First, I activate the effect of my Crystalline Mage! This allows me to summon him to your side of the field, and then I draw a card. Then, I activate the effect of my Vice Dragon! I can special Summon him from my hand when you have a monster and I don't but I have to Halve his ATK and DEF. Then, I tribute him for my Strong Wind Dragon! He gains 1000 ATK for being summoned by tributing my Vice Dragon. Now, I attack your monster!"

I discard Nova Deity, Gradark with 3000 ATK, causing you to discard all cards with 3000 or less ATK. Then, my Gradark's effect activates! As he's sent to the Graveyard through the effect of a Nova card, you take damage equal to his ATK, so that's 3000 points!"

A blue and white beam hit Zero, as his Life Point Meter went down from 4000 to 1000.

"You're not going to get me with something like that! I activate the effect of my Draconic Slime in my hand! Whenever I would take damage from a Card Effect, He can be summoned, and the Damage that I would have taken is transferred to his ATK! And, because his original ATK is a ?, he's immune to your Nova Explosion!, and by the way, I don't have any other monsters in my hand!" Zero explained, as the blast was absorbed by a slimy looking dragon. "I set three cards, then I activate the second effect of my Draconic Slime, which allows me to remove my Mirage Dragon from play to give him the same effects! Now that you can't activate any Trap Cards, I attack with my Draconic Slime!" Zero declared.

"As you summon your Draconic Slime, I activate my Trap Card, Threatening Roar! You can't attack this turn." Zero's slime remained immobilized. "Well, seeing as you can't attack and you've played your face-downs, I take it that you end your turn?"

Akira looked at his hand. "Should I try it, or should I not?" Akira thought. "Well, if I have to master the Spirit Synchro, better start practicing now!"

[Guest Dementuo]

"Fine, I end my turn." Zero said. "Just remember, that this Duel is to achieve the Spirit Synchro. If we end it too early, then we'll never get there." Zero said. Zero was surprised that Akira was using a Nova Deck, which contained cards similar to the Golden Nova Knight that Zero had received from him back at the Duel Academy. However, Zero had never actually seen Akira use his Nova Deck, nor did he even know that he had a Nova Deck. "Go Ahead, I'm ready!"

[Zextra]

"Well, let's try to avoid murdering each other at the start :D" Akira smiled. "All right! Draw!" Akira looked at his card and smiled. "First, I activate the Continuous Trap, Nova Lockdown, which prevents you from using Spells and Traps for the next 2 turns! Next, I place 1 face-down. Now, with 3 face-downs, I can Special Summon my Golden Nova Knight, which you should remember!"

A golden knight on a horse rammed out of Bright Hole and stopped in front of Akira.

"Finally, I activate his effect! I tribute him to remove from play all cards I control! Then, I can Special Summon monsters from my Deck with a total combined level of 12!!, so meet Nova Mage, Frakyll (Lv.6), and 3 Nova Stag Beetles (Lv.2). The downside is that these monsters lose all their effects and their ATK and DEF are reduced to 0. However, I can now tune 1 of my Stag Beetles to my Frakyll to Synchro Summon Crepuscule Aurora Dragon! Then, I will Fusion Summon using my remaining Stag Beetles to form my Nova Hybrid Knight, which doesn't require Polymerization!"

Akira took a deep breath.

"Now! I'm tuning my Nova Hybrid Knight to my Dragon to Spirit Synchro...

Twilight Crepuscule Tri-Blaze Dragon! Now, when my Hybrid Knight is used as Synchro material, I can add 2 Nova Cards from my Graveyard and Deck to my Hand!"

The 3-headed Dragon burst out of the sky, and landed in front of Akira. By this time, Akira suddenly started gasping for breath and keeled over with pain.

You can activate each of the following effects once per turn:

- Remove from play 1 Fusion-Tuner or Synchro-Tuner monster from your Graveyard. Until the End Phase of the turn, your opponent cannot activate Spell or Trap cards.

"Akira!" Zero shouted. "That's it, I'm stopping this Duel!" Zero said, as both of them rolled to a stop, strangely enough, right in front of the City Gates. "That was impossibly powerful. I never even imagined how powerful the Spirit Synchro would really be. The Spirit still hadn't completely formed, and it took too much out of Akira, so that's probably why it fell apart." Zero thought. Zero rushed over to Akira. "Are you alright, Akira? That was close, but you just didn't have enough control over the Lunar Energy, let alone enough Energy to begin with." Zero explained. "C'mon, let's go."

[Zextra]

"Well, that was a fail" Akira gasped, sheepishly. He followed Zero into the gates of a city. "Well, you certainly weren't lying when you said that it was 10 times as hard...(and painful)...as an Accel Synchro..." Akira said to Zero. "Yeah, sorry about that. I got too carried away..."

"Maybe you should hold on to this for me..." Akira said as he handed his Twilight Crepuscule Tri-Blaze Dragon card to Zero. "After all, it'll be a while before I try that again... Also, Zero, back at Duel Academy, you said that I have stronger Lunar Energy than you. Does that mean that there is variation in Lunar Energy even within guardians?"

The two of them reached the inside of the city. "So where should we start looking?" Akira asked.

After her 'lunch break', Sari returned to the table she had earlier occupied, observing passerby with a gentle, solemn gaze. Sometimes that stare was enough to draw someone curious enough to ask for his or her fortune read, which was a side business, other times it sparked opportunities of a different nature. For some reason, a woman dressed in a purple fortune teller robe seemed to attract gossip. Never about her, but always something the well-tuned ear was delighted to pick up upon.

 

Sari chuckled to herself and, after a pause, extracted the deck of cards from her right deckbox and placed it down on the table. It had been a slow morning, and she found that, when such days occurred, it meant the same as the calm before a storm. Fates intertwined slowly, drawing people in one person at a time. She would be patient, and see what destiny had in store for the city, and for herself. There was something in the air...something that she was attuned to notice, yet she could not place the source of purpose of it.

"You're... You're giving this to me? Well, alright, I'll hold onto it. But, that was still amazing, even for you. You were able to actually start forming the Spirit, something that I've never been able to to." Zero explained. Zero was astonished that Akira had come so far as a Guardian. "He was even able to get that far... Hm..." Zero thought. "Well, yes I did say that you had more Lunar Energy than me, and yes, there are Energy Differences even between Guardians, but still... There's something... Special... about you, something that I just can't place, but I'm sure we can find it. Now then, We need to find a girl named Luna. She's one of this world's Signers. She'll be able to help us. She lives in the Tops District with her brother. Let's start looking there." Zero explained.

[Zextra]

"Wow! Thanks" Akira said, blushing slightly. Akira and Zero walked for miles and eventually made their way to the Tops District. "Wow! This place looks so luxurious, and it's got a pool, tennis courts, duel arenas, everything!" Akira stared in awe at the Tops District Buildings. "There are people here who can help us? Cool... Anyways, does Luna know where your brother is?" Akira asked Zero. Once they entered the building, Akira sensed a slight ruffle of an aura similar to Loki's. He wondered if Zero had felt it too. However, Akira brushed it off and they went upstairs to Luna's residence.

[~Duo~]

"Alright, then, my turn, draw!" The top card shot out of the Deck Slot and into Zetaru's hand. He grinned and declared, "I Special Summon 'Supreme Hero - Soul Merger'! While I control a Tuner Monster, I can Special Summon it! Sadly, I cannot do anything with it, but a Synchro Summon. Next I Normal Summon 'Supreme Hero - Noble Defender' and it's effect forces him into Defense Position." Two soldiers, one with a glowing blue aura and the other with an enormous shield with a green aura surrounding it, sprouted from the ground and hovered beside Zetaru's other monsters. "I activate 'Noble Defender's' effect! While it's in Defense Position, I can sacrifice my attack this turn to make you do the same on your turn." He sighed. I'm safe... for now, at least. "Turn end!"

During your Main Phase, while you control a face-up Tuner Monster the same Level as this card, you can Special Summon this card in face-up Defense Position. If this card is Special Summoned by its own effect, it cannot be used as a Synchro Material Monster for a Synchro Summon until the End Phase. During your Standby Phase, you can increase or decrease the Level of a monster on the field by the Level of this card.

This card cannot be Special Summoned or Set. When this card is Normal Summoned, it is changed to face-up Defense Position. While this card is in face-up Defense Position, if you control 3 or more "Supreme Hero" monsters, during your Main Phase, you can any amount of monsters your opponent controls equal to the amount of face-up "Supreme Hero" monsters you control. The selected monsters cannot attack until your next End Phase. If you activate this effect, you cannot attack this turn.

"No, Luna doesn't know where my Brother is, but she can help us find someone who does." Zero explained as they progressed up the stairs. "And if you're wondering, yes, I felt that strange Aura, but it's nothing to worry about. Anyways, we need to find Luna in order to access the Spirit World. While we Guardians can access the Spirit World normally, something went wrong with my last Transfer, and I ended up in the Lunar Realm. I think that because we are Guardians, our Momentum fades after time, preventing us from entering the Spirit World at will." Zero explained. They reached the top floor, and Zero turned to Akira. "Wait here while I go get Luna, please." Zero asked. Zero then went into the door on his left, and then, after a few minutes, came back out with a Card in his hand. "This is the Ancient Fairy Dragon. This card is my last connection to the Spirit World." Zero explained. "C'mon, we should get somewhere away from Civilization before attempting the Transfer." Zero said. "Whenever you're ready."

[Zextra]

"Let's go" Akira responded to Zero. "Wait, what do you mean by 'away from civilization'?" Akira asked, as he followed Zero. Akira took out his Crepuscule Aurora Dragon card and sighed."I'm going to have to learn it eventually..." Akira muttered to himself. When they arrived, Akira was too distracted to notice that Zero had stopped. He kept walking and eventually walked straight into Zero, and fell down. "Oh, I-I'm sorry..." Akira apologized. "I'm just not quite feeling right after that..." Akira described to Zero.

[Guest Dementuo]

"That's fine. When I say "Away from Civilization" is that I don't think people would feel quite right if they saw two teenagers disappear in a flash of light. Might affect the wrong people, which would be almost anyone." Zero explained. "Anyways, I'm sure you're not feeling quite right, but I didn't feel so bad after a Spirit Synchro attempt. However, it might be because you have used up so much Lunar Energy. Here, I'll transfer some to you." The Aura around Zero glowed for a few seconds, and then the Aura around Akira did the some, then faded. "There. Any better?" Zero asked.

Akira felt the energy within him rise a bit. "Thank you, Zero." he said softly "and sorry for all the trouble I caused you"

Akira prepared to leave for the Spirit World, then he realized why the Ancient Fairy Dragon had looked so familiar. "Th-That's one of the 5 Signer Dragons!" Akira said, quite surprised. "No wonder she's the guardian of the Spirit World" Akira thought. "All right. I'm ready to go" Akira told Zero, as he awaited the transfer.

[Queen-Dragoon]

"He's stopped me dead in my tracks." Daylien thought with a smile, "Not bad at all." "It's my turn!" he roared above his snarling engine. "YES!" This was the card he had been hoping for. Unfortunately it may not be a killer combo thanks to his opponent's new Supreme Heroes. "First I reveal my Level Dismissal quickplay spell. At the cost of 500 Life Points per level I can lower one of my monsters' level to that of my choosing. I choose to make Dark Grepher level one." His life points dropped to 2500 while his dark warrior shrunk to a level one monster. "Now I summon Majestic Dragon in attack mode! I think you know what's coming next. I tune all my monsters together to form the mighty Majestic Red Dragon!" A titanic dragon with glittering, ruby covered wings erupted from the surrounding track and howled to the heavens. "This mighty beast's special ability allows me to negate one of your monster's abilities and add it's attack points to Majestic Red Dragon. I negate Noble Defender. Now I reveal my second face down, Ebon Arrow! My dragon may lose 500 attack points but it now can inflict piercing damage when it attacks. Attack Noble Defender!" Majestic Red Dragon charged forward. "Oh and I forgot to mention, not only does Noble Defender's defence points come out of your life points but my dragon's other ability destroys your other two monsters as well!"

[Guest Dementuo]

Both Zero and Akira disappeared in a Flash of Light. They reappeared in a Dense Forest. "Ah... It's good to be back." Zero thought. "Welcome back to the Spirit World, Akira." Zero said. "We've come here to find one of this world's more... Darker... Spirits. His name is Zeman, the Ape King. He was one of the Dark Synchros that were used by the Dark Signers when they tried to destroy this world. I never understand why they wanted to destroy the world, as they would just end up destroying themselves, but, oh well. No point in fussing over such a trivial matter. Anyways, we should make it back to the Hideout I took you to the first time you came here." Zero said.

[Zextra]

"That's interesting" Akira said as he followed Zero to the Hideout. "So these 'darker' spirits still exist? Wouldn't they be naturally 'wiped out' when the Dark Signers were defeated?" Akira asked. He and Zero walked for miles. Eventually, they reached the hideout. "Well, this was kind of scary last time I came here" Akira chuckled, remembering when he suddenly lost consciousness in the real world the first time he came here. "Oh, well... So you think these 'darker' spirits might hold some answers for us?"

[Guest Dementuo]

"Probably. All of the Darker Spirits know where one another are in the Real World. However, that doesn't hold the true for the other 'Lighter' Spirits. Unfortunately, the only reason that the 'Darker' Spirits can communicate with one another is because they were created from the same source. That source was a Dragon that controlled the very reaches of Time and Space, and had the power to create new Dimensions. This dragon's name was 'Draconicanofus.' It's power was only ever matched by the Lunar Dragons, a very similar scenario as the Signer Dragons, and the Earthbound Gods." Zero explained. "I'm not sure why myself, but my own power is similar to that of Draconicanofus." Zero said. "Well, I can contact Zeman from the top of here. I'lll be right back." Zero walked up the stairs to the top floor, and sat down to focus.

Akira waited for Zero to come back. He took out a card and stared at it...

It was his Fusion Tuner. Then, he closed his eyes as he activated his Duel Disk, and concentrated as he took a few deep breaths. he set down 2 cards on his duel disk: Blackwing Armor Master and Blackwing - Flash Blazer the Thunderstorm.

"I said I wouldn't try again, but here I am..." he sighed.

However, he thought of how angry Zero would be if he wasted more Lunar Energy attempting the Spirit Synchro again, so he deactivated his duel disk.

He looked down at the cards and went to lie down on the grass.

[Guest Dementuo]

Zero was still at the top of the Hideout. *Sigh* "What's happening? First, my brother disappears, then Akira's brother does the same, and now, Akira nearly Spirit Synchroed... I have to find my brother soon, or this is going to get really out of hand, really quickly..." Zero started to relax a little, and made a connection with Zeman. After a short conversation with him, Zero went back down to the bottom floor. "Alright, Akira. I know where we need to go next. We have to go to the old Momentum Reactor. There, we will find my brother." Zero explained. "Whenever you're ready, we can transfer back. I still have a lot of Lunar Energy left, so I should be able to send us back to the Satellite, instead of the City. However, I'll need a little help from you, so you'll feel a little tired from doing this, as it's your first time." Zero explained. "Let's go."
