Oblivion Elder Scrolls IV-Best charactor for magic people

hello ive been lokking at this game oblivion because my cousin was playing it a few days ago so i looked around to find out about it and im going to buy it as soon as i can

 

but i wanted to ask some people whove played whats the best race for people who like to use magic?cause i dont understand

Breton and High Elf are good for magic. They both start with +10 or +5 levels in most magic skills. But here is the difference in the things they have the whole game.

 

High Elf=+100 max magic, double damage when you are hit with fire, lightning, and ice spells.

Breton=+50 max magic, 50% chance to reduce magic damage to zero.

 

I would say Breton is way better because you'll take loads of element damage from people who know magic as a high elf and the 50 extra magic isn't really worth it at that cost.

 

When you choose your Birthsign, i would do the mage since it gives +50 max magic while the Apprentice gives +100 but doubles magic damage to you, and the Atronach is definetely a bad idea since you will only get magic back by sleeping.

For Oblivion I find that Dark Elves make the best mages (75% Fire resist is great since Daedra are everywhere in the game). Plus they are good with Melee weapons too.
