Exceed Summoning is basically the new Summoning method introduced in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL.

To summon an Exceed Monster, you need 2 monsters whose Levels are equal to the Rank of the Exceed Monster you want to summon. (i.e. the one I posted would require you to use 2 Level 4 monsters)

However, instead of going to the Graveyard, they are Overlaid (for TCG purposes, placed under the Exceed Monster). You can remove Overlaid monsters to activate effects if they're on the card itself.

Ranks are not Levels, so Gravity Bind, Level Limits, Burden of the Mighty, any card that deals with Levels don't affect them. But, Ranks are equivalent to Level stars times 2 (example, Rank 4 would be the equal to a Level 7 or 8 monster).

[Or in simpler terms, it's a more specific Synchro Summon (since Levels have to be the same). And usually, it's 2 monsters that are needed, although some require 3.]

That's true, it had a variety whereas GX was mostly Fusions (E-Heroes), 5Ds is Synchroes and ZEXAL is Exceeds.

And S/T tend to be character-specific, but the main characters are better IMO

(The normal Yugi doesn't duel that much, so that's why I can't really say anything about him. His alter ego is awesome though)
