Akira set foot on the pashu region for the first time, smelling the air there as if it were home.

"It's kind of nice... could use some more decorating, but it's still nice."

He had arived on a boat that was taking trainers and only trainers to this new region. On the way he had practiced with a few of the trainers, using only his Absol. They still had a lot to learn. But then again, so did he. That was what this new region was about, learning. So he took his first few steps into the region and into a new chapter in his career as the Shadow Trainer.

-Meanwhile, at the pashu region elite four-

Navras, sitting down and reading a book with Smoochum, looked up from his book. Smoochum looked up from the picture book that he had given her with a questionable look on her face.

"..."

"...."

"...."

"I'm bored!"

-In Chimara City, Brian is on a video conference call with Nick in Mosaic City:

"Well Nick, it's time for a fresh start. For both of us, this is a brand new start," said Brian. "I here the trainers this year are supposed to be tough."

"Yeah, but we can handle them," said Nick. "Well, I have to check on the gym to make sure everything is in working order for my first challenger. It was great talking to you Brian, I'll talk to you later."

"See ya Nick," said Brian as he hung up the phone. "Come on out Swampert. I need you to do me a favor. I have some paper work to do before we open. Our team needs to be in tip-top shape for challengers. Can you put the team through a workout to get them warmed up?"

Swampert nodded and left in a hurry. Swampert was Brian's first pokemon given to him by the old gym leader when he was 5. He has raised it from a Mudkip up into the strong Swampert that it is today.

Akira stretched out, standing up on the tips of his toes to get the maximum effect.

"Come on guy's, let's take a walk into the first town," he said, reaching into his pockets and brining out all six of his pokemon. He released his Umbreon, Absol, Murkrow, Tyranitar, Mightyena, and Crawdunt, each of which gave a cry of delight and wonder at this new region.

"Come here Behemoth," he said to his tyranitar, Behemoth being the nickname his father gave it. Behemoth grunted and walked over to him. Akira climbed onto it's back and said to all of them, "Let's go guys, this place is just ripe for the picking of brand new challenges for the shadow trainer!"

Brian was just finishing up his paper work when his fax machine started blinking stating that he was getting a fax. He got up from his desk and went over to the fax machine. He grabbed the piece of paper and read it. It was from Nick. It read: "This is the resume of a trainer that just arrived in Pashu. His name is Akira. They say that he has a whole team of shadow pokemon and he came to the region to conquer it,". In Brian's eyes, he was looking for a challenge. Tons of people come to the gym all the time saying that they are gonna win the Pashu League, but nobody ever has. Brian hoped he would get the oppurtunity to battle against a team of shadow pokemon.

"Now let's see... where exactly is the first town? Hey Scarecrow (murkrow), come here!"

Scarecrow squaked and flew up to him, landing on his shoulder. On top of Behemoth it was a bit of a balancing act.

"Think you can fly me up so we can see which town to go to?"

Scarecrow nodded.

"Alright guys, back in you go for a while," Akira said, taking out his pokeballs and returning his pokemon one by one, Behmoth last of all, which left Scarecrow to hold him in teh air while flying.

"Alright, let's go!"

Scarecrow flew up high (with effort) until Akira told him to stop.

"Hmmm... well... that looks like a good place to start! Let's go there and see what we can do!"

Scarecrow dived down into the town Akira had pointed to, when Akira could touch ground, scarecrow let go of him and returned to it's pokeball.

"Now then, where am I?" Akira turned around and saw the town sign, proclaiming it was Chimara city.

"Well, this'll do. Now, where is the gym?"

Brian took the elevator down from his office down to the gym's training facility. Swampert had the team cooling down from their workout. They all had faces of joy when he came into the room. They were put back in their pokeballs and Brian and Swampert entered the elevator. They took the elevator down to ground level. Swampert then returned to it's pokeball and Brian stepped out. He could tell it was going to be a good day.

Gauge stood high up on a hill looking down on a huge forest. "{Inhale} That cool mountain air really calms your mind...." Gauge stated. Gauge then took his backpack from the ground and took out a pokeball from his belt. "Go Salamence!" Salamence appeared from the pokeball roaring proudly. "Alright, let's go." Gauge jumped up into the air and landed onto his Salamence. "Alright Salamence, let's head off shall we?" Gauge asked Salamence with a friendly smile. "Rawr! (Yeah!)" Salamence then flew off with Gauge standing proudly on its back.

-Meanwhile-

{BEEP!!! BEEP!!! BEEP!!!} "What?! Who?! Where?! Huh? Oh it's just the alarm...." Sora turned off the alarm clock and opened up the window shades and look outside. "What a beautiful morning. What time is it? WHAT THE!!!! IT'S THAT LATE ALREADY???!!! I GOTTA HURRY!!!!" Sora rushed to put on his clothes and ran outside. A Delibird was following swiftly behind him. "Huh? Oh Delibird. Got any mail?" Sora asked. "Delibird! Delibird! (Here ya go!)" Delibird handed Sora a stack of letters. "Alright, thanks buddy. Now run along now and go play with the others." Sora then rushed off.

Brian walked into the gym battle field and was amazed at how clean it was. He could actually see his reflection in it. Kevin, the referee of the Chimara City Pokemon Gym came over and began to talk. "Well, as of 5 minutes ago, the gym is officially open," said Kevin. "The challengers should be pouring in this year. I've heard from the other reps that ever since the league has been eestablished, the amount of registrations have thripled from the amounts in almost 10 years." Brian heard what he was saying but couldn't get that trainers "resume" out of his mind.

Leonard, before leaving his home, said goodbye to his family. He then looked at a picture of his traitor friend and held it close, almost bursting to tears. He sobbed a bit more, then went outside to get some fresh air. "Further up the road, Charizard," he said, releasing his Charizard from it's Poke-Ball. "And we can reach the first Gym Leader." Charizard made a signal for Leonard to hop on, and so he did. They rode through the wind and had a great time till they landed for rest.

Nick logged off the computer and got his team of grass pokemon ready for a day of battling. He walked onto the battle field and looked at the work the crew did. Giant trees were planted everywhere. It truely was a sight to see. The area was the perfect place for grass types to battle. You could hide in the trees, or stay and fight in the middle of the open battle field. All Nick could see was him and Brian when they were little kids. Even though Brian had the disadvantage with water types, that never stopped him and he even won a lot of the times. He kept playing memories back in his head for 5 minutes when he realized that the gym was now open and that there was no time for day dreaming.

People were lined up outside the gym waiting for it's grand opening. The entire building had been remodeled and redecorated. It was time for it's opening. The news crew from the local tv station was down to catch Brian cutting the red tape. He took the scissors in his hands and cut the ribbon. As both sides fell to the ground Brian felt a brand new beginning about to unfold. Although, something didn't feel right in the back of Brian's mind. He felt like he was being watched by someone. He wasn't sure by who, but he was sure that someone was in the crowd watching him, not just because of the gyms grand opening.

Moon sat in his gym, he was simply bored, "I need to do something, almost no one gets the Logic badge anymore." Someone had just lost to Moon, he simply sat in his gym, bored out of his mind, "Man I wish something Happened. I haven't got to do anything since the town was infested with Ratacates!"

Brian sent Moon a text message. "Well, there haven't been any challengers this morning," texted Brian. "So how are things going at your gym? Things going just as slow?" Brian looked back and forth from his cell phone to the front door to check to see if anyone was coming in to challenge the gym. But like its been for the past hour, nobody came marching through the door. Brian was getting bored and wanted someone to talk to.

Moon then recieved the text message from Brian.

Well' date=' there haven't been any challengers this morning, so how r things going at ur gym? Things going just as slow?[/quote']

Moon then replied, "Yeah, I haven't been this bored in a while. I just beat a trainer only using my Alakazam. They never beat my first pokemon! Granted that he had all Ghost types but still." Moon then sent the message and stepped out into Floral city to take his break. "What a beautiful city." he said to himself.

Finally a challenger walked into the gym with a smile on his face.

"Tyler's the name," he said. "and I'm here to challenge the Chimara City Gym."

A smile came across Brian's face while he guided Tyler onto the battlefield. Both trainers on opposite sides, like it was an old western showdown. Brian snapped his fingers and the field was disappearing. That smile the young kid had was vanishing. You could tell he wasn't expecting this. That's also when the doors surrounding the gym shut all at once building the drama. This kid got scared. I released a pokemon under the water while he sent out a Shinx out on the water platform. Kevin said it was alright to fight and the battle took off.

All Brian had to say was "You know what to do," and suddenly a tornadoe appeared out of the water. It lifted Shinx up off the platform and slammed it back down. And that's how the whole battle proceeded. It was only a couple of minutes before the trainer left drained of all of his pride. He lost all of his pokemon without even attacking once.

After the kid left, Brian went to the reception area to give a pokeball for the assistant to heal the contained pokemon. Then Brian saw Moon's text and replied "I just had the same experience,"

Less than ten minutes after Tyler left, there was another knock at the front door of the Chimara City Gym and a kid in mussed up red clothes with a suitcase in one hand and a Rotom on his shoulder walked in, "Hey there," He said, holding out his free hand to Brian, "Any chance that you have a few free minutes? And a soda would be nice too. These Poke Marts are everywhere, and yet all they seem to do is stock Pokemon supplies. I haven't found a single vending machine since I left Hoenn." He stretched a little bit and sighed, "I once flew all the way across Sinnoh, riding a Drifblim, with this little guy riding my back in his Wash Forme. And that would have been preferable to the plane ride I had. You'd think that Scott would have enough money to get me some better plane tickets, don't ya?"

Brian was very surprised by this guys approach. He took a soda out of the mini fridge behind the front desk and handed it to the man.

"Yeah, I guess I have a few minutes," Brian began responding. "What is it I can do for you?" This man had something about him that he was hiding. Deep down inside Brian knew there was something he was hiding.

"What did you say your name was," Brian asked trying to get information out of him.

"Oh, right, where are my manners?" Bryce asked, offering his hand to Brian, "The name's Bryce. I'm a trainer from the Sinnoh region, but I've spent most of the past year in Hoenn, except for a brief stint in Kanto and Johto, trying to get the Johto Battle Frontier established. That's actually my mission as a Trainer. I'm not interested in the appeal of Contests or the straightforward fighting of Gyms." He paused, "No offense to you, of course. No, my interest is in the adaptive fighting of the Frontiers." He unzipped his jacket and pulled out two Frontier Passes, both in his name with his picture, one from Sinnoh, and one from Hoenn, and tossed them, one at a time, to Brian, "I'm currently the record holder for the fastest time through both Frontiers, completely clearing the facilities in just two months, travel time between regions included." He paused yet again, "Wait... That wasn't what you asked me... Oh, right, what you can do for me. Well, you see, Brian, I was wondering if you would consider letting me test your Gym's trainers for possible recruits for the upcoming Pashu Region Battle Frontier." He walked up to the Gym Leader and took his Frontier Passes back.

"I'm not in the mood to play games," replied Scott sternly. He looked at a picture hanging on the wall of his office. It was a picture of him and Leonard in a Pokemon battle. He had won that battle, of course. Leonard still thought of him as a monster. Of course, it was true, but it still hurt. When Scott looked away from the picture, he looked at the guy in his office. "Can you please leave?" he asked. As of right now, after seeing that picture again, he lost all of his patience. He wanted to be left alone.

Brian looked at Bryce with a "I don't know what to say" look. But then he came up with his decision.

"I think it's a wonderful idea. Adding a battle frontier would not only give us gym leaders a brake and time to rest out pokemon, but more trainers to test their skills against other trainers," said Brian with a happy expression. "Just let me know what you need and I'll see what I can do. Would you like a room to stay in while you observe the challengers?"

"Challengers?" Bryce asked, "No, I'm actually not here to observe the challengers, since apparently no one's beaten you yet this year." Rotom flew over and pointed to the Gym Sign, which was devoid of any victorious Trainers, "No, but, I wouldn't mind testing you out, or any of the Trainers that you keep on staff, for that matter." The Trainer drank the rest of his soda and tossed it over his shoulder, where Rotom immediately caught and threw it away, "So, how about it? Know anyone worthy of becoming the Pashu Region's first Frontier Brain?" He asked as Rotom flew back onto his shoulder, "I only took a skeleton team of my Pokemon with me into this Region, but I'm sure that they're all more than qualified to compare your Gym's Pokemon with that of the Frontiers'"

Zach woke up against a tree. He yawned and looked to his side. Snorlax was eating from the tree. Heracross was drinking from it as well. Garchomp lied close by, and Gliscor was punching the air. Typhlosion made it's flames flow in and out as Alakazam meditated. "Well, i guess it's a good day so far..." he said. A picture of his dad and him was kept in his pocket. He picked it out and sighed. "i wish it didn't have to be this way dad..." he said with a sigh.

His elbows laid on his desk. He took in a deep breath, and let it out. Rampardos was suprised as it was staring into space. It was freaked out by the sudden noise. "Well well my old friend Rampardos, what shall we do today?" The Rampardos snorted and lowered his head. Leon smirked and pressed a button. A giant lead rectangular prism appeared from the ground. In a flash, Rampardos smashed into the prism with it's skull and ran straight through, like the lead was jello. "Nice job, nice job." He threw a pokeblock into the air. Rampardos caught it, and ate it.

Brian thought for a moment and said "Personally, I wouldn't leave this gym for anything," he started. "But, there is one trainer that comes to mind."

Brian described a young trainer, his age, that came to the old man who owned the gym last looking for a master. He was with the old man for 5 years and even though he wasn't a water type trainer, Brian kept him around. Today was his day off but Brian told him where he could be found. He told Bryce to look at the lake in the middle of the town's forest. He went there to think a lot.
