Recycling Mods.

Ehh I don't really care too much about it, although i do think that some mods need to be let go, to make room for a new group of mods. I mean half of the current mods are inactive. So whats the point have having them up their? There are many members that are qualified for the position of moderator. But yeah just a thought.

I can name about five right off the bat.

You're forgetting some of these "moderators" haven't logged on in 4 months.

Help is always welcome. And if these mods were once deemed acceptable to become moderators of their respective boards, when they leave they do not take up any more space/problems, thus when they come back they benefit the board by default.

You make a point, and we've discussed this subject for too long through instant messaging, so I know where this will lead. But I still think the site will do better with new mods. If not immediate then slowly.

I personally think I'm qualified, I've wasted nearly 3 years on this site. But aside from that I agree, many mods ignore there jobs are do not deserve it.

I like the idea of new moderators in some areas but I don't like the idea of removing/replacing the other moderators. Yes, some are inactive but they don't deserve to be removed because of the inactivety. Think about it you finally become a mod after actually wanting to be in that position then you had to leave because of real life related issues for say a few months and forgot to tell everyone here about it or just chose not to because you don't want to mention your personal life on here, and then you finally are able to come back on here and find out you lost the position. How would you feel about it?

I may have experience but I'll never take the job. that and I hardly know that much for yugioh so yeah. If we start hiring new staff I'm voting for Dark to be staff as he is very smart and knows the rules quite well. What do you think about seasonal staff. Ex. people who'd take the job during a season when hardly anyone is active like Summer vacation and Christmas vacation.

hmm. Eury would do good for the video games section. If we do get more staff couldn't we have the sites they worked for be contacted first to make sure these people aren't lying?

I don't know if it's such a good idea suggesting who would make a good job in this thread. Because we would get new members randomly posting "I would be a good moderator". Besides I think the mod team already discusses this please correct me if I am wrong.

Exactly, they tend to forget the position is not only an achievement but a responsibility, you can't just decide to stop, and not give someone else a chance.

Ehh If became a mod, I would actually be good at it, i wouldn't go inactive for several months without resigning. If they thought their real lives were too important they could'nt be bothered to log on every day, and help the community, then they should have just quit and gave another member a shot at the position.

The Mod Team chooses mods, who get considered by the Admins. Even I myself was "voted" in that way. Excuse me for explaining a process. But fact is, a lot of YCM isn't even smart enough to open a revolving door. What makes you think they can judge over roughly 100k people per section?

Many of the inactive mods left goodbye messages in the mods forum and asked for demotion, but the admins haven't come over to do it yet. Others like TotalObelisk are presumably dead so I don't know about that one.

 

But more mods? Honestly I think we have enough now, with MarbleZone filling the last spot. I don't know how things are in CC but at least in the sections I frequent there seems to be way enough coverage. And tbh there are many members who do good stuff for their sections, like cards, but for many of the last promotions we had to look HARD.=/

I do agree. I think some of the inactive mods need to be let go in favor for a new generation. The problem is finding good candidates.

This is a perfectly reasonable suggestion. There is a strict cap on the number of moderators this site can have, so obviously removing moderators is our best bet. Except, wait, no, that's stupid and that's not how it works at all.
