Maghion Syaoran Light
If you like some sci fi without all those crazy space ships and teleportation, in other words, a sci fi that is actually believable, then you'll enjoy this. The main character Mason discovers a little information about his mother's background and is curious about this company that owns almost the entire town. He rescues a mysterious girl Laila, who keeps pleading to get away from the "gardener". Little does he know what he is about to discover about Laia, the company, and himself. This book touches upon fascinating issues that mankind faces today, notably, the Malthusian catastrophe. Readers will actually learn a little about mankinds food problems and learn about significant figures such as Giri Bala, an autotroph human. It is a interesting read though I have to warn you, the relationship formed between Laila and Mason is not well built. It does not seem like they got to know eachother enough. Its just not developed enough and kinda awkward
