Dominic walked over to the others, slightly annoyed at the fact he could not put a dent on Legion. "Well... Any ideas? We don't have all day ether to fight this bird." He sat down on a nearby rock, ignoring GriffEND for whatever reason. "You seem like all talk and no action. You can dodge us sure, but that's it? You're kinda like a fly that you can't swat. Just a nuisance, that's all." Dominic gave GriffEND a glare through his visor. "Speaking of which, how are we going to stop Vile this time?"

Zedren finally responded to Sean's plea. "Sean, we didn't do anything with your spear. There are extenuating circumstances, but the emerald powers aren't connected to the orange powers in any way. It's a long story."

Joe walked over and sat next to Dom. "Yah, Vile is a lot more dangerous now. Now that he has those 3 Tetrarchs with him."

"What!" GriffEnd squawked. He was very mad. "You think speed can only be used on defense. I'll show you." He then knelt down as if he was a runner and extended his wings like they were blades, waited a moment, and then sprung towards the Rangers. He was soo fast he disappeared after a second. By time the rangers saw him again, it was too late. He slammed through them with incredible force and used the added speed along with the steel hard wings to make a harsh attack. (roll: 24)

Joe flew to the ground and got up slowly with what little strength he had left. "Okay, note to self. Don't piss off the overgrown canary." After the beating he took from MeteorKnight, and now seeing what GriffEnd was capable of, he knew he didn't have much left in him. He then looked around to see if his fellow rangers were okay.

After Sean heard of what Zedren said and what hit him, he landed hard on his stomach and demorphed, unconscious. He didn't expect what Zedren said at all. He knew if he had his spear again, he can turn it into something new, something that might be able slow down GriffEnd for only a short moment. He never got that kind of damage before. And due to it, the emerald stopped glowing before he demorphed. His powers had stopped working, and he didn't see it coming. It appeared he wasn't just unconscious, he was in a coma, one that he might never come out of. And because so, his powers might be shut down for a while after he wakes up.

GriffEnd, now happily gripping his talons, was basking in his vengence. "Ha! I told you my speed wasn't just for defense. Next time you should treat your enemy with more respect!" He strecthed his wings as far as their span could muster as he took aim at Dominic, the first one who insulted his position.

"Hmmmm.... Canine Fricasse!" cried out the large hawk as he shot forward, claw extended at Dominic (Roll: 20)

-------------------------

Star managed to pick herself up from GriffEnd's earlier attack, but she could hardly react to his insane speed. Zipping past her, she looked behind and saw that his aim was for Dominic. Crafting an energy arrow, she shot a few feet from where Griffend was going to be, in hopes of catching him off guard. (Roll: 14)

-------------------------

... It didn't. Because of his extreme speed, the arrow bounced off the surging hawk bullet as he neared his target.

Dominic also fell to the ground, getting up a tad slower than Joe, given the wounds Legion gave to him. He quickly checked himself for anymore wounds, then again he probably would of felt them. Dom looked up at the enraged GriffEND. Only he wasn't there. GriffEND had darted before he could even get himself ready for a counter attack. The Tetrarch had caught the demon off-guard. The best Dominic could do would be to create an explosion that would hopefully/ knock GriffEND back. He arched his fist back, then as dark energy began to collect around it, he slammed it straight down into the ground.

Dominic's punch landed a spit second right before GriffEnd did. The resulting explosion wasn't strong enough to cause GriffEnd much harm; however, it did momentarily stun his vision causing him to veer off course. He landed and tried to shake the distorted vision out, but realize this could make him vulnerable, so he flew up high to avoid any attacks as well as rely on his other senses to hear an additional ranged attack.

Joe got to his feet now and stumbled over towards Dom and tried to help him. He then shouted to the others, "I can't believe I'm about to say this, but we should use this opportunity to retreat and regroup."

Sean was still unconscious and he couldn't move. Because so, he has no idea as to what has happened since that time. Again, all seems to be lost, but Sean never knew when to give up. And with his very last bit of consciousness, Sean stood up slowly with a look of rage in his eye. "I won't...let..you...WIN!!!" Sean morphed once more. "Go on, try to attack me! The wind is my ally!" Under his visor, Sean closed his eyes, beginning to feel the change in the wind when it happens.

Joe looked on in hopelessness. "Sean .... no. We have to regroup and think up a plan. This thing is far too powerful. We might not get this chance again. We have to retreat for now. There is no shame in that. It's better than a wasted death."

Griffend continued to circle, slowly, the blinding light in its eyes fading.

"If we regroup we might be able to think up a plan, or find a weakness in this thing." Joe continued. "But if we die now it'll be pointless."

Sean opened his eyes and sighed. "Fine, but we'll need to recover for possibly the rest of the day." he replied. "See you guys back at the base. I'll be waiting." Sean then turned into emerald green teleportation dust and headed towards the base. When he made it back to the base, he was demorphed and out of energy. Because so, he fell to the ground exhausted. He was breathing hard. That teleportation took a lot out of him.

Legion watched in grim satisfaction and yet some form of disgust as the Rangers began to retreat from the battleground. He had been standing next to Master Vile's throne, with his Master sitting within and watching through the viewing portal. 'GriffEND did his job well my lord, and yet I am troubled. You had the power to create or control the Tetrarchs, a truly amazing power. And yet, you constantly failed to defeat these rangers previous our birth. Why is that so?' he inquired.

Vile was still smiling as he watched the Rangers fleeing in fear. He chuckled lightly and then got up out of his chair and put a hand on Legion's shoulder. "Legion, there is a very good reason for that. Come. Walk." The two walked around the lair and Vile began to explain.

"You see, my powers, no matter how amazing, do have their limits. I can recharge, sure. But life force is something you can't recharge." He let that sink in for a moment.

"Now, I say that because each time I make a monster, i use a bit of my life energy to bring it to life. Magic isn't a pure one way thing. It doesn't just happen. You have to put a little bit of yourself in your work as well. I can only put as much power in a monster, as I am willing to use my own life force. So I've always done that in small amounts as a sort of insurance. Never want to waste too much energy on a monster in case it does get destroyed you know." He laughed and tried to lighten the mood, but then looked a little more somber and serious towards Legion.

"It is no longer the rangers I have to worry about. Gargantia, Deos, and now apparently Loki as well are all opposing forces. For a time I thought Loki and I could coexist, but i have to play it safe. The Alliance of Evil many years ago was a beautiful thing. Very rarely can we all agree on something, but aside from that ... evil isn't black and white. So for example ... Gargantia and I are both evil, but we have VERY different views of the world. Thus, their victory isn't a victory of all evil, but just their view. So ... " he paused before finishing

"That is why i created all of you and didn't use these powers sooner. i fear this time I have no choice and I have to lay it all out. I can't afford to hold anything back. You four represent the last remaining extent of my powers. My life force is just enough to sustain myself ... but not to create new beings. Unlike others before you, I've held nothing back, and spared no expense. You are my final and greatest creations.

------------

Meanwhile, the rangers all got back to the ranger base and started to regroup and recover a bit. They were set to meet with Zedren in a few minutes in the Briefing Room.

Legion listened carefully to Vile, the thought of him and his brothers being the penultimate creation of Vile's did seem promising, yet disturbing as well. 'We are your last and greatest, my lord?' he inquired, but collapsed suddenly. Many unkown images flashed through his mind, a skull, a little girl, orange spike robots and an alien dog. Legion regaind his self and rose up, something was wrong. 'I think, I must rest father.....clearly use my powers near my birth has tired me' he said, and spoke no more.

Dominic was quiet on the trip back. He didn't say a single word, presumably out of anger. Dom was already edgy on the fact that his strength was gradually dropping, already on par with most of the rangers. Was it because he was using up too much of his energy? Or was it that others were simply becoming much stronger. Either way, he was pissed. Generally it was a bad idea to approach an annoyed Dominic, unless you were ether, A. Star/Joe, or B. Immortal.

The latter hasn't been that effective anymore.

Caoimhin approached Joe and stared into his eyes as if he was looking into his soul. "I need to know who your allegiance is to, young Joseph. I cannot risk being attacked by you and Atlas right now and betraying the others will complicate matters even more. The last thing we need is you using your zord to attack us, were already a couple of zords down with the sigma rangers gone and Star no longer able to combine her zord with the newly evolved panther zord and with the disappearance of the White Serpent Dragon zord it would be difficult for us to not end it without bloodshed. I'd also hate to see you wreck your relationship with Izabel if you did become an enemy. So, i'll ask you again, who is your allegiance to?"

Joe stared right back at Caoimhin. "I'm insulted you would even think to ask me that. Of course my allegiance falls to this team. But that doesn't mean Atlas's allegiance is against us. He is being controlled by Vile. We have to break that connection somehow, but you ... you didn't even care about that."

Just then Zedren walked in, "I'm not sure if we will be able to break that connection."

These words struck Joe hard and he looked at Zedren as if to ask 'why not'.

"Atlas", Zedren continued, "is far too weak now - mentally. His mental state is not something that can be recovered so easily in such a short amount of time. The purpose of Tartarus was to be the ultimate punishment. He was there for eons. There's no way he can recover from that within our lifetime. Yes, one day he might be able to break it, but i fear he is far too weak to do it now. Yes Joseph, you developed a connection to him, but it's not a strong enough connection." Zedren then turned to Caoimhin, "However, he does seem to get a rise out of you. Now I all they all were toying with you, but Atlas seemed like he was giving you opportunities to try. He seems he wants you to get stronger. Maybe because he sees you as the current Hades, and he feels that last time it wasn't an honorable match. Perhaps he sees you as the true competition. A chance to answer a question in his head - which really is the stronger."

There was silence for a moment. Then Joe looked at Caoimhin. "Answer me this Caoimhin, were you going to send him back to Tartarus because he's one of the Tetrarchs, or was it for some other deranged and illogical reason?"

Legion was consigned to remain in his room, a black void where he sat alone, thinking carefully. 'Hello' an unknown voice said. Legion didn't respond to this, his eyes didn't open. 'I know you can hear me my son, how are you?' the voice continued. Legion answered the voice. 'You're not my son? Heh, it seems Vile didn't tell you the elements of your birth. Regardless, you must go to Vile to locate Deos, this will naturally end with him; he is sneaky, but then again, sneakiness can be abused differently. Perhaps those rangers can be of use' the voice suggested and became quiet. Legion opened his eyes and vanished.

Having rested, Legion knelt before Vile sitting on his throne. 'My lord, I have been given time and I have come to a conclusion. Whilst we can expend much effort in locating Deos, what if we used to ranger to locate him for us?' he suggested.

"I'm sending him back to Tartarus for that was his punishment for challenging the Olympians in the War of the Titans or Titanomachy if that's what you want to call it. Zeus' original punishment for him to hold the sky from the earth to prevent Uranus and Gaia from making more Titans did not seem to be enough justice against him, the leader of the Titans in the Titanomachy, so all the Olympians decided for him to be sent to Tartarus like the others but also use his life energy to sustain the Island of Creation were Zeus and the others rested" Caoimhin explained Joe in as much detail as he could.

"That does not mean i have godlike powers. I may be able to live for millenias but as the generations went by those powers seemed to have dilluted till we were more like you humans. The reason for it was never explained and without those powers I fear I may not be able to challenge Atlas even with the power of Hades on my side. Now i have a another question for you, young Joseph, did you free Atlas from his chains and if you didn't who did?"

"Please, you seriously think I could have broken those chains?" Joseph tried to explain. "Have you ever seen them. They're these huge beings tied to the walls with chains at least 40 feet thick. It wasn't me. Atlas said that it was Zordon who released him. And asked him to guard the Genesis Blade. That it would be the way to redeem himself. He as well restored a small amount of his power."

Zedren listened intently to this. "Well even if you don't have the powers of a God, Atlas sure thinks you do. Or at least will someday."

-------------

Meanwhile back in Vile's lair, Vile listened to Legion's proposal. "Interesting. But how would we do that. Deos doesn't seem to be especially interested in the rangers, nor anyone else for that matter. He seems to be up to his own things. Which is why i want to know where he is. So that i can find out what he is up to."

"Maybe" Caoimhin replied then thought about what Joe had told him. "How could Zordon do that? Releasing Atlas is a foolish thing to do. Zordon was like a mentor to me when I first crossed paths with him and Alpha 5. Should i trust Zordon was doing the right thing or should I stick to my duty as the Guardian of the Island of Creation and brand him as a traitor to my kind? What would be your opinion Zedren? You're the one who looks at both perspectives of an argument and makes a rational decision."

Zedren pondered this. "Do not take this the wrong way Caoimhin, but ... if I remember the Great War correctly. Yes, your kind viewed the Titans as evil, but remember. Just because someone isn't on your side doesn't mean they're evil. Atlas may have gone against you all but if I remember correctly, Zeus is the one who started it by desiring to punish all the Titans for just the sin of his father Cronos. It's not as though Zordon released the ultimate evil in the world. You see through time, as stories get passed down, villains will be made of certain people and groups to create a unity among the race. For people always want an evil, something to despise and fight against."

Zedren paused to let it sink in. "But still, it is your heritage as well as the obligation to your ancestors. Ultimately it comes down to you. Times change things. No one can be a fossil. Stuck in the past to old methods. You must evolve and transcend. Look at me, i was given a second chance. Did i stick to my od ways, no. Same for you in a sense. You must find a way to honor your ancestors as well as follow what you yourself deem to be right." He put a hand on Caoimhin's shoulder. "I trust you will know what you have to do ... in time." He smiled

"A lot of stuff sure has changed over time on this planet everytime I visited this world. Maybe evolution could be the answer but i still need to keep the traditions of my people. I am the only one left as you know until I fight Deos and destroy him with my own bare hands" Caoimhin stated as he clenched his fists, remembering the futile fight he had with that monster as well. It was almost exactly like that with Atlas today.

Caoimhin took a few deep breaths to calm himself and keep his usual peaceful composure. "Anyway, i think it's time we do that meeting you wanted, Zedren. It's best if we make some sort of battle tactic against these Tetrarchs, raw power has proven useless so far"

"If we're going to plan a battle tactic, shouldn't we use our environment to fight the enemy?" asked Sean, referring to when he decided to have the wind as his aid. He then stood up and continued. "I mean, it's possible that the mere elements of life, say trees, water, and wind, could be used to our advantage. What I'm trying to say is that we need to think of what type of item in Earth's environment weakens them the most?" He then turned Zedren. "Zedren, what's your opinion on this?"

Legion looked up at Master Vile, looking forwards into the future. 'While I will not give up my duty on searching for Deos, the job will be made slightly easier if we can recruit the rangers, all it will need is some slight....'pushing in the right direction' he explained and rose up. 'I see that the ranger Joseph happens to have a girlfriend, from what I know that is a significant bond; any human in a 'relationship' is very willing to move hell itself to find their loved one. Therefore, should we take her prisoner, she can be a bargaining chip for the ranger's co-operation in finding Deos'.
