The Great Debate Digimon Or Pokemon

Digimon win in term of Monsters art than Pokemon (more cool, more creepy, more tough, etc). Pokemon Monsters is weaker than Digimon in term of visual art (i don't know about their abilities, Pokemon Monsters MIGHT have some Uber-technique against its enemy).

Except MewTwo. MewTwo is a Uber-Hax Pokemon.

But in term of stories, they both sucks.

As the Digimon video games aren't really that great in terms of story but Pokémon Special actually looks like it does, I'll leave those out, so let's just look at the anime and the Pokémon games. Each season of Digimon features a different story, while Pokémon is almost always the same basic thing.

Digimon Adventure: Seven kids are dragged into an alternate world that they must save and are accompanied by various creatures.

Digimon Adventure 02: New children succeed the previous generation and must defeat someone who is on his way to conquer the Digital World. Soon an old enemy orchestrates his ultimate resurrection to take revenge upon the ones who defeated him.

Digimon Tamers: A creature drawn in a picture by a young boy is brought to life. Monsters from an alternate world begin to attack, and soon the heroes must save their friend. Eventually an Eldritch Abomination comes forth bent on wiping out all existence.

Digimon Frontier: Digimon Adventure combined with Power Rangers, only it's actually kind of cool.

Digimon Savers: Takes elements from Adventure and Tamers after the long absence of a Digimon series.

Digimon Xros Wars: Three kids are taken to an alternate world and are thrust into becoming the leaders of an army in a war against three other factions.

Of course, your mileage may vary on whether or not the series lives up to that summary, but at least the stories are different. The Pokémon anime and games nothing but the same basic story where you have to beat eight gyms, do various tasks along the way, and defeat an enemy that never really makes that big of an impact on the overall story until you actually confront them, and even then they're hardly mention again and you just battle whoever is left.

I have watch all of Digimon anime minus Savers and Xros Wars. And honestly, Digimon Frontier is a tarnish to a Digimon reputation. Tamer and his/her Digimon fusion together? A bad idea. Although fusion with Chimeramon kinda cool, they should only use Digimon for battle not fusion with the Tamer and create a half-Human, half-Digimon.

I never watch Pokemon (and never will), so i don't know if it true that Pokemon story is only revolving around collecting Pokemon or Badge in a repeating basis. Are you sure there are no characters development in Pokemon anime? If what you are saying is true, the Pokemon anime is boring as hell with Collect Pokemon>Defeat Gym Leader>Collect Badge>Collect Pokemon basic cycle.

It seem Digimon story have a purpose or final destination in its series compared to Pokemon with its mindless journey. Pokemon fans can give me more information about its story?

That's a bit of oversimplifying. Basically, the anime follows the games. Badges are collected, Pokemon are obtained, the generic evil group must be stopped, etc. However, the Pokemon take forever to evolve (understandably), the generic evil group from the games always fail miserably at their plans at about the same point as they do in the games, leaving no suspense at all. Furthermore, there is an overwhelming amount of filler - most of it being extremely childish. There isn't really a cycle - Pokemon are mainly collected at the start of a region, like most casual players playing the games would turn out when choosing a team.

In any case, it turns out like this:

In terms of anime: Digimon >> Pokemon

In terms of video games: Pokemon >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Digimon

In terms of trading card games: Pokemon >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Digimon

In terms of popularity, Digimon loses to Pokemon - no contest.

While the anime isn't good at all for Pokemon, Pokemon currently holds 2nd place gross profit of all game series in existence for good reason - the games are commonly seen as fun. Pokemon is also at the top of the sales charts for sales in its TCG as well, while Digimon's died rather quickly.

Digimon wins for me

Reason : when i was a kid (meaning 8 years old) first time i watched digimon was on Raidue(an italian tv channel) i was awestunned by the story the digimons , digievolution and the fact that its all being held in a digital world, and the music oh man the awesome music, and later i found out that the italian dub was using the original japanese not the crap that the fox was using.

Either way pokemon was an entire fail for me

in terms of monster artwork Digimon > Pokemon (they look way too goofy -.-)

This song made a huge impression on me, and made me want to listen to classical music for a short while xD

Used to be Pokemon but it got boring after an entire EIGHT years. I still play Pokemon Red because it's the awesomest of all the games. And then there's Crystal. Well, I like fighting Future Badass Red, so I never save after I beat him. I fight him over and over, using different strategies and Pokemon almost every time......

Well, it's Digimon now. Digimon is awesome.

The only Pokemon game i play is Soul Silver and i quit in the beginning because it have a long save time (10 seconds is a time that you need if you wanted to save). Most of today game have a fast save system. For example: Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor only need 2 seconds to save or load. Although you might thought it's a minor thing, but it's annoying and tedious every time you save you must wait a frikin' 10 seconds!

A question for Pokemon lover: Are Pokemon games worth to play?

Well, yes, for me. I've been playing for eight years. Here's how it goes:

Year One: I play Pokemon Red. I have no idea how to pass the old man and I had no idea there was a mart.

Year Two: Still searching for a way around the old man.

Year Three: Still trying.

Year Four: YOU OLD MAN, GET OUT OF THE WAY! I DON'T GIVE A.....and so on.

Year Five: I find out a Pokemart exists and I continue on playing......until I can't pass the thirsty guard. Boohoo.

Year Six: Thank you, Oliver, for helping me pass the thirsty guard. And what's all this about Pokemon FireRed? Note: I named my little brother after that person's legendary act on helping me pass the thirsty guard. Honestly.

Half-way Year Six: I just owned Pokemon FireRed and Emerald and Ruby and Crystal. But then my FireRed and Emerald save data broke.

Year Seven: I earned the ability to get all the way to Steven and beat him in Pokemon Sapphire within six hours.

Year Eight: Pokemon Platinum, currently searching for the next Gym after Gardenia, but it actually very easy, the only downside is that it's slower than the other games. Platinum HeartGold? It took a long time to figure out how to get to Mahogany Town. Now I've just captured Red Gyarados with a Net Ball, and I'm heading on.

Note that I quit Pokemon for long months before I joined the fandom again, quit again, joined again, quit again, joined again. My most recent joining the fandom was earlier today, when my friend wanted me to play the Pokemon games on my DS. So yeah.

Battle-wise: Digimon most certainly. The fact that MetalGreymon (who isn't even fully evoloved O.o) is comparable to a nuclear warhead, really says something. And he's not even the strongest of his level.

Anime-wise: Digimon all the way. I've watched the Pokémon anime recently, same repetitive shiz it has been for a long time. Xros Wars is already at a good start and will probably end up as good as the first three seasons.

Game-wise: Pokémon. Their main games have a better battle system than the Digi games, and Wi-Fi is much stronger (because of the better metagame, and their's more people to play with). Not to mention B/W look strong so far.

But the Digimon games recently have been decent (the DS ones I mean). I'm still wishing Lost Evolution is released here in the West.

Popularity: Lol, I laugh at whoever doesn't know. But so as not to be too harsh on Digimon, I think its anime is pretty popular outside of America, and the fanbase for it still looks strong.

Eh, I prefer Digimon over Pokemon.

With Digimon you can do a lot more than, "derp gym leaders, derp team -insert name here-, derp elite four".

That being said, the Pokemon games are much better than Digimon games. To be fair though, if Digimon had released a similar game to Pokemon Red/Blue when they came out, Digimon would probably be waaaay more popular than it is now.

But that would add to the whole "Digimon copied Pokémon" argument.

Still, the DS games are just as good as D/P/P/HG/SS (besides Wi-Fi), in my opinion.

that's the one with the long lost brother right. the one that turns evil temporarily.
