"Well, well... That's quite a coincidence." Zero muttered to himself. "Both of my parents dissapeared when I was only 8 years old. I don't remember much, only that that was the day I got my first deck. It came with this dragon in it." Zero held up the Crescent Shadow Dragon card. "How did you get that card, your Dragon Card, I mean." Zero said to Akira. "Oh and next time you see your brother, do what I did, and see if you get a reaction. That should tell you if he truly is a Guardian." Zero explained.

Chancellor Yami held up his microphone "Could Felicity Rune please move up to area three?" Chancellor Yami asked into the microphone. After his announcement he looked at the ongoing duels. Three going on one being prepared. He watched Akarui's strategy. Level up the Metal Warriors and bring out Rekeph. But Rekeph had interested Chancellor Yami. He had dueled Akarui before and lost.

Amane Hayakawa was absolutely terrified.

 

This wasn't because she was to attend a new boarding school, surrounded by people she didn't know and playing a game she wasn't all that good at, for the next three years of her life with only momentary respite.

 

It was because her mad foster sister Tsubasa was also to do all that. Amane was absolutely terrified that Tsubasa would crack under the stress and wind up murdering someone. It was the sort of thing her father would have done, anyway; the sort of thing her father would have taught her to do.

 

"Why are you so scared?" Tsubasa asked. Even when she was blissfully oblivious, there was something off-putting about her voice. Ordinarily, Amane didn't particularly care, but given the circumstances...

 

"The entrance exams were easy, right?" This was true; the entrance exams had been surprisingly easy. "And you're always telling me about how people are good, so... what's the matter?"

 

Amane swallowed hard and prayed that Tsubasa would remember all that. "I don't know... just a bad premonition. Let's go."

"That was a good move Mr. Yami. I'll activate Melevolent Nuzzler's effect, by paying 500 LP, I can put it on the top of my deck. Now it's my turn!" Kay drew his next card. "Alright, I'll start things off by activating my face-down Crying Beast! I can remove a Beast or Beast-Warrior type monster from my graveyard to special summon a monster from my deck whose level is equal to the monster I removed from play. So I remove my Gene-Warped Warwolf to summon Pitch-Black Warwolf in attack mode [ATK:1600]. Then I'll special summon Fiend Beast Fighter by reducing by Pitch-Black Warwolf's ATK to 0 until the end of the turn." Fiend Beast Fighter rose to the field [ATK:2400]. "Now Fiend Beast Fighter, attack his monster, and I'll increase my monster's ATK by 700 by equipping it with Melevolent Nuzzler [ATK:3100]."

"Ah Brian Jones, you're here. Alright, now we can get started on your exam." Lance activated his duel disk. "Alright Brian, you can take the first move." Lance stated with a smile.

"Miss Felicity Rune?" Madame Clive repeated to herself, upon hearing the announcement from the chancellor. She had reassembled the cards in her deck and stood, waiting for her next test opponent. "I do hope she's more prompt than Mr. Exposito," she mused, sliding her deck back into her Disk and letting the automatic shuffler do its thing. As she waited, she made a few notes on a notepad regarding Damen's performance in his duel with her. The boy had some potential, no doubt. It was all a matter of whether he could utilize it, harnessing it to his capabilities.

"Really, now? I activate 'Magic Drain'! Your Typhoon could be saved... with a cost of discarding 1 Spell Card. However, if you choose not to discard, you will lose. What will be your choice?" Zetaru asked Rex politely. Zetaru smiled contentedly, He's good, I hope he'll get in a good dorm. He sighed exasperatedly as his stomach growled, then asked, "What will be your response? Will you or will you not discard?"

[Daxter]

Rex wasn't sure what to do. He knew if he discarded, he could keep this going, but then he might not get into the dorm he needed to. He glanced over at Eatos to see what she thought he should do. She nodded at him. "Alright, I'll discard 1 card from my hand to save my card. So that means my Amazoness Swordswoman is still alive and equipped with her spell card!"

 

Ooc: By the way, you dont have 4000 Life Points, you have 2600 because I attacked you earlier and inflicted 1400 points of damage. Thanks.

Felicity stood up from her seat and walked over to her area to begin the dueling portion of her exam. Balkion appeared at her side. "Are you nervous Felicity?" Balkion asked as he swirl around her. "A little bit...." Felicity answered.

 

"Just remember about your brother and you'll do fine."

 

"I wish Elliot was here to cheer me on...."

 

"I'm sure you'll do great. All of your cards are rooting for you, so just do your best. It doesn't matter if you win or lose, as long as you try your best then I think the teacher will notice that."

 

"Alright. I'll do my best!" Felicity made her way towards the designated area where she saw Madame Clive. "It's nice to meet you Madame." Felicity said with a samll bow.

"Likewise to you, Miss Rune," the instructor said, smiling. She did like the attentiveness to her title. "I will forewarn you that I expect work of the highest quality and performing at any less will affect your score. Nevertheless, I wish you luck. I hope you are ready."

 

Madame Clive's Duel Disk activated and her deck was shuffled once more. From there, she drew five cards from her deck, followed by a sixth. "I shall take the opening move, my dear. I send one card from my hand to Special Summon The Tricky!" Like in her other duel, she sent one card into her grave and the clown-like spellcaster materialized. (Lvl 5, 2000/1200)

Then I'll activate my spell card Balkion's Scale. I can only activate this card while a Naturia monster is on my field. Until the end phase, you cannot activate any traps. Regularly my Spiderfang cannot attack unless you activated a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster's effect, and since you activated The Tricky's effect. I can attack it with my Spiderfang for 100 points of damage." Spiderfang launched towards the Tricky.

Madame Clive shook her head. "I'm sorry, my dear, but you are incorrect. Spiderfang can only attack if I activated a Spell, Trap, or Monster's Effect during the turn you wish to attack, which I have not. In addition, Special Summoning a monster without some sort of trigger means that it is not an activated effect, unlike a card such as Gorz or Naturia Cosmobeet. Therefore, your Spiderfang can still not attack this turn."

 

"I am still not able to activate Traps this turn due to your Spell, so is there something further you would like to try this turn?" she asked calmly.

Felicity lowered her head comically. Balkion sighed by her side. "It's okay Felicity, we all make mistakes. Shake it off, and just be careful when making your moves." Balkion reassured her. "Alright, I feel so embarrassed for doing that...." Felicity responded to Balkion. "I'll just activate Double Summon and summon Naturia Mantis.... I'll also placed a card face-down.... Thank you for correcting my mistake Madame, I'm veryu grateful for that." Felicity said politely.

A shield appeared and took the attack and ended the battle phase. "I activate the effect of Metal Shield 2. By Special Summoning this, I negate the attack and end the battle phase." Akarui explained "And lucky for me, I can return it to my hand and add another random monster with Metal in its card name to my hand as well." Akarui explained as his deck got shuffled and a card randomly popped out of his deck and Akarui added it to his hand "And unfortunately I have to show it to you." Akarui stated as he showed the card to Kay "Metal Warrior - Tuner." Akarui stated as he returned it to his hand.

"When this card is Normal Summoned, I can add one Ritual Spell or one Ritual Monster from my deck to my hand. I select Relinquished," Madame Clive continued, slipping the card from her deck.

"I activate the Black Illusion Ritual!" the instructor announced. A jar appeared in the center of the field, an eerie eye symbol upon it.

So I'm tributing my Mantis to cancle and destroy your ritual."

Madame Clive blinked at the Trap, her Ritual Spell shattering apart, along with her Manju. "Nicely played," she admitted. So her Relinquished would have to wait around a little before taking control. Interesting...she used Mantis to discard the last card in her hand, but she could have used her Trap to negate Manju's effect instead. This let me put Relinquished into my hand and now she has no surprises for me. Her hand is empty, and she's clinging to a single monster and a faceup Trap Card. In order to negate my cards, she'll have to destroy her own monsters. Against my deck, losing card advantage is crippling.

"Now that it's my standby phase, Metal Warrior LV6 levels up into Metal Warrior LV8. Now I Special Summon Metal Warrior - Tuner." [ATK: 1400] "Now I sacrifice Metal Warrior LV8 to summon Metal Golem. Now I discard Metal Shield 2 to Special Summon Metal Bomb." [ATK: 0] "Now it's effect activates, destroying it." Akarui stated as the monster exploded. "Now I tune Metal Warrior - Tuner to Metal Golem. I Synchro Summon, Metal Warrior - Supreme." [ATK: ? - 4200] "If you've paid close attention to my last duel, now that Metal Warrior - Supreme has over 4000 attack points. I can sacrifice him to summon Rekeph, the Ultimate Dark Being." [ATK: 4000] "Unfortunately, Rekeph cannot declare an attack the turn it's summoned. And I cannot activate his effect with no cards in my hand. So I end my turn." Akarui explained.

"Since I got heads I can draw two cards. I'll summon my Naturia Cosmobeet and then I'll tune my Cosmobeet with my Mantis in order to summon my Naturia Balkion in attack position [ATK:2500]. Then I'll play Naturia Force to special summon Naturia Apple in attack mode [ATK:300]. I'll attack with my Balkion!"

"(That was an incredibly strong move.... How can I beat that?)" Kay closed his eyes and pray that his next card will be a good one. Kay drew his card and looked at it closely then smiling. "Sorry sir, but I'm ending this now. I'm activating my Suicidal Beast Plunge. By tributing my Fiend Beast Fighter, you take damage equal to its attack and by paying 500 LP, it cannot be negated." Kay sacraficed his monster to defeat Akarui.

"Alright it's my turn, lets see what I can do." I have to draw a card, any card that might help me get out of this mess I'm in. But I'm not sure what I need to draw. Rex looked over at Eatos once again. I know your gonna help me with this draw Rex thought as he closed his eyes and drew a card, maybe his final card. He looked at it. "Ok, well this might be my final move, so I'll make it a good one. I activate Reinforcement of the Army. Now by activating this, I will add 1 level 4 warrior ro my hand. And I choose my Amazoness Archer. Now I will summon her to the field. Attack my Swrodswoman!" amazoness Swordswoman attacked the supreme hero, inflicting 1200 points of damage to Rex's opponent." Now I will activate my Amazoness Archers special effect, I tribute her and my swordswoman to inflict 1200 points of direct damage to you! Taking you down to 200 Life Points. But I''m now defensless and have no cards in my hand, so it looks like this is all yours." Rex smiled. He knew he was going to lose, but he thought he made his sister proud. He looked at his final face-down card. That could save me...but I don't want to, I won't activate it.

As the damage hit him, an enormous surge of pain rushed through him, driving him out of breath. Zetaru's vision blurred again, and this time, he saw the same brief sepia vision, but this time, he heard a voice.

 

"It's over! Die!"

 

Those three words echoed in his mind, causing him deep mental pain, but he somehow managed to mutter, "My turn... I draw..." Once more, he pulled himself together and yelled, "I activate 'Fusioning of the Swords'", and Tributed his only two monsters, becoming defenseless as well, but not as much. "I inflict damage to you equal to the two monster's ATK, which is a grand total of 6100 damage! And if you have a response, I'm glad you made me take that damage," Zetaru added, grinning.

By removing from play one Metal Warrior in my graveyard from play, the damage is doubled and is inflicted to both of us." Akarui explained "And this effect cannot be negated or chained." Akarui stated "So this duel is over in a draw." Akarui explained as he set up his deck again.

"I activate my...." Rex stopped. He let his arms dangle to his side as the extreme damage crashed into his body causing him the worst pain he had ever felt. The power was so great he body acctually was smoking. He fell to his knees and tried his best to stay awake. He looked up at Eatos. She held out her hand to help him stand up. Even though she was a spirit, he grabbed out and somehow she made him able to stand. He stumbled a bit and looked down at his life point counter. It read 0. The duel was over, he had lost.

Madame Clive considered for a moment. "Interesting play," she said, observing Balkion gliding to strike her monster. "I activate the Quick Play Spell, Shrink, during the Damage Step," she said, one of her facedowns flipping faceup, displaying a monster being reduced in size.

 

"This Spell halves your monster's original ATK," she said calmly. "Traps aren't the only method of getting rid of monsters with higher ATK. I use this card on your Balkion."

 

The spell glowed, engulfing Balkion and beginning to shrink it. The Tricky conjured a sphere of energy to counterattack.

He even managed to stop my Eclipse Dragon's attacks..." Zero continued to think. "However, he seems to be holding back... Why?" Zero thought. "Then there's that monster of his, Rekeph. That monster was stronger than most that I've seen before... And with an effect like that... What secrets does that card hold?" Zero thought.
