The young man quickly made a mad dash after Max, moving as quietly as he possibly could. He pulled an arrow from his quiver and knocked it to the string, just in case he needed to use it. He smiled widely at the prospect of having aided someone as he drew the string back partially to be ready in the case of an attack. He ran right along behind Lan and his smile quickly faded as he noticed the presence of a clown up ahead. He quickly grabbed Lan by the shoulder and pulled him back, keeping the arrow on the string as he drew it back to ensure a killing shot. He aimed exactly for the base of the clown's neck and after a moment he loosed an expert shot that flew almost completely silently as it shot to bring the clown to a silent death. He quickly began to move silently away from the circus, beckoning Lan along to follow as he spoke softly.

 

"My name's Ketodama Sagaku, and I'm just the average adventurer."

Ven, being awoken by his dream, couldn't go back to sleep. I-I have to save her..if I don't this whole thing and my life forfeit..., he thought to himself. And if I don't...I'll never be able to avenge my father or anything. Ven sighed and looked up at the sky. "This stuff is harder than it looks...I just wish I was able to do this stuff without the fear of losing her or dying in the process. In the end..I'm just how my dad described it, I'm just a scared child at the core." he said to himself. He looked at Fenrir and said,"Your the only thing I got that will prove me and him wrong."

Once Rai was satisfied with the dryness of his clothes, he ended the flame’s life and started to walk in the direction of the scream. “It came from around here,” he said to hid bird, Kwai, as his ears twitched at every sound. “Wait, what’s that?” he said as he heard someone talk in the clearing up ahead. He walked into the clearing to reveal a boy (Ven) sitting on the ground. “Hey, did you hear that scream from before? I was trying to find the source of it, and it came from somewhere around here, from what I could tell…” he asked him with a kind look on his face.

Ven heard someone say something to him. He looked up and saw another boy (Rai) standing near him. Ven slowly stood up and said,"Y-Yeah..it was me. I had a bad dream is all...anyway, I'm Ven Hawk." He looked at the boy and thought, Hmm, I don't know if this boy will attack me or not...but if he does I'll be ready for it. He drew his attention back at the boy and asked,"So, what is your name and where exactly did you come from?? If I'm asking too many questions just tell me." He knew he was asking too many questions..only cause he knew that information gather was an essential part of this world. The more info you have...the more you'll be able to act.

Reina looked around. She liked the kitchen but knew she would have to leave soon.

 

Mean while in Heartfall.

 

Rein stood at the lake outside the palace. His eyes staring up at the moon. He showed no expression and rarely talked. The only thing on his mind was his little sister, Reina. She had been gone many years. He was worried but didn't show it. He didn't let anyone know he missed her. His twin, Reiki, and Reina's twin, Rei, didn't reallly seem to care much about her missing. If they did they also didn't show it. Rein lowerd his head and walked away from the lake. It was Reina's favorite place.

"Trust me, you're not asking to many questions, I ask a lot myself." he replied to Ven's question, "Well, my name is Rai Kazumi, and I'm not from anywhere, I haven't had a home since I was six. I just wander the land aimlessly, mainly. Well, that's it, really." He looked at the ground as he adjusted his eyepatch. He looked back up at Ven. "Anyway, nice to meet your aquaintence. And, if you don't mind me asking, what are you doing out here exactly?"

-Meanwhile in the Malevolent World-

 

Maverick was still watching Reina from his open portal when he noticed that she was about to go on the move. "I can't lose sight of what she's doing, I'm gonna have send some of my men in and let them follow her!" said Maverick as he turned around and started to wave his hand back and forth until eventually 3 tiny but stealthy demon creatures came in front of him. Each of these little demons carried their own set of knives and had an awkward tiki mask on to hide their faces. "I want you three to spy on her and make sure you don't kill her." said Maverick as the little creatures saluted and then in a flash they turned invisible and jumped through the open portal into Reina's location. "If they attack her maybe I might get an anwser to my thoughts." wondered Maverick as he watched the invisible creatures enter Reina's world.

"Trust me, you're not asking to many questions, I ask a lot myself." he replied to Ven's question, "Well, my name is Rai Kazumi, and I'm not from anywhere, I haven't had a home since I was six. I just wander the land aimlessly, mainly. Well, that's it, really." He looked at the ground as he adjusted his eyepatch. He looked back up at Ven. "Anyway, nice to meet your aquaintence. And, if you don't mind me asking, what are you doing out here exactly?"

 

Ven looked at Rai and said,"I guess your trustworthy...well, as I said I'm Ven Hawk. And why I'm out here...well lets just say me and this girl are trying to save someone I care about." He sighed and said,"I let some monster take her away from me..and I was supposed to protect her. I let Reina down..I doubt she'll even talk to me after what happened." Ven sighed again and then said,"A-Anyway...thats pretty much why I'm here. So we're up to where we are now..you can stay here if you want. I doubt Noelle will mind if someone else stays here."

Reina walked out of the kitchen and tried to find her way back to her room. After a while she sat down againist the wall. She accepted defeat. When she thought she found her room had just found another hallway. Reina sighed. A shadow fell over her and she tensed up. She looked up and saw her master. He picked her up by her tail and dragged her back to her room then threw her in locking the door. "You wont get out this time. I try and be nice and you betray me. " He walked off. Reina sat up on the floor massaging her tail. "I just want to go home..."

When her master had finally left the room he trapped Reina in the three invisible stealth demons were on the ceiling and one of them slashed the air with their dagger and opened up a portal similar to Maverick's back in the Malveolent Dimension. "Master she's been locked in a room." said one of them in a cold low scary whisper. Maverick hesitated for awhile then he finally he anwsered,"release her." One of the demons dropped himself down gentily and stabbed the lock with his dagger and started to turn it until he finally broke the lock and slowly cracked the door to look inside. He could see Reina sitting there all sad rubbing her tail. He was invisible so he had no fear to talk to her. "Come here!" he said with his awkward scary cold voice. He kept repeating himself hoping she would do what he had requested.

Reina noticed the door open and she got up walking over to it. Her cat ears twitched as she listened. Had she heard something? Shaking her head she walked out into the hall once more. It was empty. Why had her door opened? Reina looked back at her room where she was suppose to stay put. She didn't know what to do now. Should she try and run? Or should she just sit in her room once again? Reina just stood in the hall looking for a way to go.

Rai's ears perked up at the sound of Reina's name. "Wait, did you say Reina? I don't know why, but that name rings a bell...I've probably met her in one of my expeditions. Anyway, count me in, I'll definately help you save her. It might help to have someone who is a master at stealth, ya know, for the whole entry part. Plus I can hold my own on the off chance that I'd get caught during the rescue." Rai sat down against a tree. "Well, I suggest you get some sleep. Night."

The Stealth Demon continued to speak in his awkward tone. When he realized that Reina didn't have the nerve to run or move he prepared to grab her but then he heard someone coming. It was one of Reina's master's servants when he reached where Reina and the invisible Stealth Demons were, he started yelling at Reina, "What the hell are you doing out of there I got orders to keep you retained at all times!" He approached her to grab her but the Stealth Demon closes to her kicked him in the gut and into a wall then he grabbed his dagger and killed him. To Reina it looked like he was just getting blown into a wall but the wind and suddenly exploding with blood. Reina who was too afraid to move suddenly could see something start to appear. She saw a pitch-black demon wearing a tiki mask and in his hand was a bloody dagger. He turned to her and said in a deep scary voice, "run, run, run as fast as you can!" Reina did what he said and ran away and the Demon turned invisible again following her.

[The Final Messenger]

Lan had not wasted a second. When the clown went down he made a mad dash towards the exit. For Lan ot was very painful, last time he ran was 8 years ago, so every step induced pain in the amputated area of his leg. Don't look back, keep moving forward, Lan thought remembering when he thought the exact same thing 8 years ago when running from his home. Then he stopped dead in his tracks. The exots were gaurded, all of them. Lan gripped his knife hard, making his knuckles turn bone-white. He gritted his teeth and gave up, but he didn't let himself get seen. "H-hopeless, I-i'm done f-for," Lan said to himself quietly so nobody could hear him from the bush he was behind "I-I can't k-kill anyone, I should have expected this, sigh."

Ven smiled a little and said,"Thanks Rai....night." He looked back at the sky and sighed. He thought about the dream he had a few minutes ago, with the crossroads and the man who murdered his father. He couldn't shake the feeling that something like that would happen. Ven always had feelings like that....pretty much thats how he stayed alive most of the time. He sighed again and then finally drifted off to sleep, as he did...he began to snore..again.

Rai stared up at the stars for awhile, admiring their beauty. Then Ven began to snore. He looked over at him and yawned. Well, I guess I better get some sleep too, who knows what will happen tomorrow...especial traveling with other people. I just hope that Ven's friend, Noelle, was it?, won't mind me traveling with them. He laid down and started to drift into a dreamless sleep. His breathing slowed, and his ears became flat against his head.

"!?" Reina gasped looking at the site. She heard his words and turned running away from him. She transformed into her full cat form and ran from him. She was faster this way. Reina continued to run. She would look back every now and then to see how close the demon was. Reina slid around a corner and into a wall but got up and kept running. She hoped no one would spot her. Reina stopped when she thought she had lost the demon. She transformed back to her normal form and sat down trying to get her breath. "That was close..." She said to herself.

Secretly, the Demon was standing above Reina on the ceiling again with the other two. All of them invisible talking to each other while looking at Reina. "At least here we can keep an eye on her without her noticing." said one of them. "True but now she knows we exisist!" said another one. "Hey, I needed to do some quick thinking she was too afraid to move away so I had to show her my true form." said the last one. That's when they heard footsteps coming towards them. It turned out to be Reina's master who had seen her and started to yell while trying to grab her. "WHY YOU UNGRATEFUL LITTLE GIRL YOU WILL PAY DEARLY FOR THIS!" finally he slipped through the crack and was approaching Reina that's when the Demon's acted again by throwing smoke pellets at Reina's master and just like before the same Demon jumped behind her and made himself visible and tapped Reina's shoulder to get her attention hoping she would react like she did earlier! "Go! He can't see you!" said the Demon as he waved his hand to signal to run away!

Reina saw what was going on and ran off another way. I got to get out of here! I'll lose control if I use my powers! What do I do? Reina turned a corner and kept running. "Somebody help me!" She screamed.

 

Rein stopped suddenly. He thought he had heard Reina's voice. Rein looked back at the lake where the moon reflected off it. He stared at it wondering if he had really heard Reina scream out. He had told her to ask for help before but she never did. Now, he could of sworn she did just now.

-Meanwhile in the Malevolent World-

Maverick continued to watch Reina run away from dangers that constantly appeared everywhere. Maverick wanted to approach the portal and jump through it but then he thought to himself, "According to that man who gave me the tip who she was he said she doesn't trust random people she meets." showing myself might just be making the issue worse. Then he noticed Reina shouting "Somebody help me!" Maverick raised one of his arms and then it started to twist and change to a dark blue color and then finally turned into a giant hornet stinger. He swiped the air and it made a portal just like the Demon's daggers did. He jumped through thinking to himself, "I must not try to scare her or hell might break lose in that house."

Reina ran down many halls hoping to find and exit. She turned to the left. Then the right. And left, and right. She got so confused and lost. Reina finally stopped after a while and fell to her knees. She was gasping for breath. Her heart pounding hard and fast in her chest. She thought her chest would explode. Reina held herself up with her hands trying to slow her breathing down. Finally she got her breathing under control.

Rai woke up and looked around. Why can't I stay asleep?.....I can't keep my mind off that name Ven said earlier. Why does the name Reina ring a bell? Think Rai, think.... Memories came flooding back to him. Now I remember, I spent a year in Heartfall a couple years back. We used to be friends, although she probably doesn't remember me, and she probably won't recognize me either.... He sighed and laid back down and started to drift into the endless void that was his dreams.

At that moment, a huge black and white portal bursted open right in front of Reina, and out of it came a 16 year boy who had some-what long black hair and wore a large black coat and his left hand looked like a large hornet stinger. He stood in front of Reina and looked down at her, she was shaking afraid if he would harm her. His left hand suddenly changed into a normal arm again. He reached out his arm and patted Reina on the head then finally said something. "If you want to get out of here then I would suggest you follow me through the portal." Reina didn't know what to do that's when she heard a guard notice them and he charged with a sword high in the air. Maverick had jumped in front of Reina then his hand formed a blue flame and shot it at the guard and was killed by the shot. "Demons!" Maverick shouted then the three demons from before kneeled before Maverick and said in unison, "Master!" "Let's go home!" said Maverick as him and his demons walked towards the portal. They all went through except Maverick who stopped and turned towards Reina and said to her, "If you want to escape this hell hole then I suggest you follow us!"

Reina stared at him. Who was he? And why was he helping? How did he know she was there? Reina was so confused. She continued to stare at him. She looked back at her room that she realized was right behind her. How do I know I can trust him? He just appears out of no where and offers to take me away. Is he like the prince like the story from before? Reina looked back at the guy and nodded. "Okay..." She walked toward him and the portal.

Maverick waited until Reina finally walked through the portal, then he followed her through. When they finally reached the Malevolent World Reina was ready to start laying on question but then Maverick started anwsering them before she could start saying them. "My name is Maverick Simonette! How did I find you? One of my troops heard off the streets about you and I opend a portal to watch you! I will not harm you as long as you don't give me reason to!" Maverick started walking ahead of her and then he continued to talk, "Listen, you have the ability to heal the wounds of other people right?" asked Maverick, Reina anwsered with a simple "uh huh." Then you might be the missing link I've been seraching for the past 8 years." said Maverick who turned around to look at Reina. "Missing link, to what?" she asked him, "The missing link to the chain of rebrith!"
