The men only let out a laugh as the soldier who had tied his hands finished tying his legs and then shoved a gag into his mouth, "Look we're just looking for someone. But we can't waiste such a beauty can we?"

"Alright men lets move out!" the captain said as he turned to head back in the direction they had come from. He was confident that there was no one else around as the boy had already given a loud yell. The solders were laughing amongst themselves and arguing in which order they'd get to carry the cat-girl when a wall of ice burst from the ground right in front of them. The soldiers had been so shocked they dropped Reina, who hit her head hard enough to wake up, and began to scramble around as loud crashings echoed throughout the forest.

Ven wondered what the heck happened. He slowly inched his way over to Reina, the way he inched towards her...he looked like a small inch worm. Hold Reina...I'm coming. he thought to himself. C'mon..gotta move faster!!! He continued to inch his way towards Reina, until he was finally next to her. He looked at Reina and thought to himself, Reina!! Please tell me you can hear my thoughts right now...if you can..help me out!!

Reina looked at him. What was going on. She sat up trying to figure out what Ven wanted. He was tied up and had a gag in his mouth. Realizing what he wanted she took the gag out of his mouth and tried to untie him but it was too tight. "Forgive me..." Reina whispered to him. She didn't want to burn him. A small flame appeared on the rope and started to burn through it. She set Ven free and scooted back.

Ven took the gag out of his mouth and let out a sigh of relief, as he was freed. "Whew...thanks Reina." he said. He stood up and grabbed Fenrir and looked around. Apparently, the men that tried to take Reina fled after they hit the ice wall. "Ok...you're safe...for now anyway." he said putting Fenrir on his back. He looked back at Reina and asked,"Are you alright princess?"

"She is . . . fine," Noelle said while walking back into the camp ground, she was draggin something behind her. Her face was covered in something but in this lighting neither could make out what it was. That is they couldn't make it out, until she got closer and was surrounded by the moon light. Spots of blood were covering her face as she gripped onto something tighter, which caused whatever she had been holding to cry out in pain. Tossing her package Reina and Ven could see that it was the soldier which had knocked Reina out with the rag, his leg broken along with his right hand; the man was shaking he was so scared. It was then both realized that it must've been Noelle, in her own cold way, that had scared the men so badly that they fled; after which it wasn't too much of a educated guess that she had dispatched their would be dispatchers. Looking at Ven her eyes slowly drifted over the man, who cringed, and then stopped at Reina, "Time for a . . . midnight . . . lesson . . . taking out . . . your attackers . . ."

Ven looked at the man and shook his head. "No..I do not kill for pleasure." he said looking at Noelle. "I won't kill him. I'm saving my first kill for that assassin with silver hair, an 'x' like scar on his cheek, and raven black eyes. Until then, I won't kill anybody." He knew he was going to get yelled out for saying this...but right now he didnt care. "I came to protect Reina..I'll kill if necessary. But..since you have him, you finish him off."

"I was not . . . talking to . . . you," Noelle said as she looked at Reina and then tossed her a dagger carved from ice, "I was talking . . . to . . . Reina . . ."

Noelle never glanced away from Reina as the ice neither melted in her hand or grew too cold to handle. Did she really mean for Reina, such an innocent girl, to kill this man? It might be true that he was going to take her away from her friends and possibly do horrible things to her, but was she actually going to do it. Noelle knew that in order to survive in this world you had to be either faster or more killing to kill than your enemy. And she had killed before. She had once not even cared to wash the dried blood which fell on her skin she had been hunted so feverishly. Yet despite this entire time she never took pleasure in it. That was what seperated someone who killed for survival from someone who killed for the sick thrill of it.

She was about to give Reina an order, expecting her to follow it like she had with the water bubble training, when the soldier called out, "P-Pleas miss . . . d-don't ki-kill me . . . I beg of you . . ."

Ven looked at Noelle and said,"Your gonna make Reina do your dirty work!?" He quickly looked at Reina and said,"Reina...you don't have to do this. I know you don't like to fight and all that...don't listen to Noelle and don't kill him." He looked at the guy and looked back at Reina and said,"He might give us a clue about why the hell they wanted to take you and where the hell they came from."

Reina just stood there trying to figure out what to do. She hated fighing but hated killing more. Reina stood there hearing the man begging her not to kill him. She heard Ven telling her not to do it. She couldn't think of what to do. Reina suddenly got down on her knees and put her hand gently on the man's face. "I won't kill you. But you must promise to change your ways and not attack us again." She had always done this when someone had told her to kill or fight. She wanted to find a peaceful way of ending this.

The man nodded his head and bowed to Reina, his eyes overflowing with tears as he promised to change his ways and never attack them again. He was still shaking as Reina tossed aside the ice dagger which Noelle had crafted for her to use, but now she refused to use it. Getting up she turned to Ven and smiled to which he returned the guesture. Noelle was disappointed in Reina, though not that she was not willing to kill, but for another reason completely. She sighed as Reina and Ven readied themselves to locate Jecht since he had been sleeping somewhere off in the distance and Noelle made it appear she was heading off in another direction from them. The second Noelle was out of sight the man seemed to stop shaking and his entire demeanor changed dramatically. His eyes grew narrow and he took hold of the ice dagger, hiding it in the palm of his hand, and slowly stood up. He got a grin on his face as he went to take Reina hostage, probably willing to stab Ven to ensure his get away, but was stopped. He was stopped right as he pulled the knife out by a pillar of ice which held both hands in place.

"You see what . . . mercy . . . does for . . . you? He . . . was willing to . . . kill . . . both of you," Noelle said stepping back into the moon light and the man returned to begging for his life, "Bellicosian men . . . only live . . . for killing . . ."

Reina took the dagger and sighed. "You give me not choice now." A grin appeared on her face and her eyes turned red. "Killing you should be fun. But I don't need this little toy knife here to kill you. I know magic that could haunt you for the rest of your life and even in your sleep. I could take your soul and do so many things to it that would make you sream out. There is so much I can do just for fun." She disappeared and appeared behind him. Reina punched him in the back and her hand went through him. Blood squirted out as her hand went through him and out of his stomach. She pulled her hand out and let him fall to the ground. She licked her hand where some blood was. "Pathetic. That's what you are." Her eyes went back to normal and Reina saw the blood on her and the dead man and screamed.

Ven saw this and couldn't believe his eyes. Reina went psycho and killed the man...he didn't know what happened. He walked over to Reina and looked at her. He put his hands on her shoulders and said,"Reina...calm down. You don't ever have to do that again..." He looked at Noelle and shook his head saying,"You happy now? You happy that you pretty much made her scared for life...." He sighed and said,"Reina, its alright...don't cry."

Reina clung onto Ven. It had happened again. The reason why she had been sold was now revealed. Reina thought it wouldn't happen agian because it hadn't happened in years. Reina knew why she had been sold. It wasn't cause her mother didn't like her. It was because she was afraid of her own child. She didn't want anything to happen so she sold her. Reina understood that. She wasn't mad at her mother for doing that. Reina was trying so hard to stop her tears.

Noelle had been surpised by the sudden brutality and apparant shift in personality that Reina underwent while she killed the man. BUt once he had fallen the young cat-girl reverted back to her original personality and began to cry which prompted Ven to comfert her. It was then he told her that lie, that she'd never have to kill again, and Noelle knew that he was merely trying to comfert her. But if she was to survive she would most definately have to kill again if only once more; or if she was to follow Noelle's own footsteps she'd end up doing more than she'd ever want to. Ven then turned his head and asked Noelle if she was happy that she had made Reina do such a horrid act. She didn't answer. Instead she knelt down and got Reina's attention before embracing her in a tight hug, something in which Noelle had not done to anyone in ages, and ran her hand on top of the young girls head as she spoke in a soothing voice so different from her usual tone, "I know you are afraid Reina . . . but what you did had to be done. Don't think bad of it dear, . . ."

"Dont think bad about it?" Ven asked looking at Noelle. "Dont think bad about it?!?!" He looked at her and glared and said,"You mad her kill that man!! You could have easily did that yourself...but you had to force her into it." He shook his head and looked back at Reina and held her. "Reina..it's alright. Don't cry princess, don't worry about a thing. If anything happens...I'll take care of everything." he said comforting her.

Having heard such words from someone like Ven made Noelle return back to her cold and emotionless self as she released Reina and then shot Ven back with some ice; the ice clinging to a tree to prevent him from moving. She stood up and glared at the boywith fierce eyes and unseathed her rapier, holding it in front of her face, "I did not . . . force . . . Reina to do . . . anything . . ."

It was true that Noelle could have killed the man and spared Reina the torment of having to do it. But that was not what Noelle was trying to get across to Reina by having her do it herself. She was trying to teach Reina how to protect herself, without any help from anyone. And if she was to do that then she needed to learn to kill in order to continue living. Noelle was now standing in front of Ven with her sword pointed at his thoat, "And how can . . . you . . . protect someone when . . . you lost . . . so easily . . . to . . . me?"

Ven let go of Reina and stood up. He grabbed Fenrir and swung it around as he gripped the hilt of the blade tightly. He pointed it towards Noelle and glared at her. "You wanna know how? I'll fight until I run out of breath..." he said looking annoyed. "I underestimated you the last time...but I wont do it again. So if you want to see how I can protect Reina...fight me right here and now. Cause right now I'm sick of you and your cold attitude!"

Noelle raised her sword eye level with Ven and scowled at him, the cold wind blowing through her hair. She did not mind humiliating Ven in front of everyone. Indeed Ven was begining to ask to get his ass handed to him by someone far more skilled than him and with more than three times the experiance. She wouldn't kill him but Ven wouldn't get out of this fight without a scar. Summoning a few of her powers the area around them began to grow colder with each passing second until they could see each other's breath in front of their faces. The ground gatherd frost as if it was winter and the tempature continued to plummet. Tightening her grip on her sword Noelle spoke, "Are you . . . sure . . . you wish to fight . . . me?"

Ven smirked and rested Fenrir on his shoulder. He could see his breath as the air around him got colder, but he still seemed to want to fight Noelle. "Oh..I'm sure." he said with a glare. "I may not have any special powers like you, Reina, or Soul...but I'll show you that I can beat you without those special powers. I'll kick your ass and show you what I can do!" He was really confident right now, even though he was slowly getting cold..but right now, it didn't bother him the slightest.

Jecht, last night, had been exploring the area for food. His head was on survival and food and hydration were the top things on the list. He ended up making his own little campby bring the rock in the dome over him, keeping him warm and shutting out most sound, except for a cracks were air came in. He awoke and went back to fin the others. Jecht was dumbstruck when he saw a dead body on the ground, Reina on the ground, Noelle and Ven at each others necks with swords, and everyone was surrounded with ice. "Why?" He asked. You fall asleep and end up missing everything. Jecht thought shivering in the cold. "You both need to stop your fighting, you'll waste whatever energy you have that you'll need later." He stated hoping they'd stop now. They were far from Jecht's house and the crazed shaman.

Noelle glanced from Jecht back to Ven, her sword never falling short of her chest, and finally let it fall to her side. She honestly wanted to beat Ven into a comma for thinking so much like a child, something she couldn't even do herself, and might have made Reina train harder just to get back at him. But deep down she knew that harming Reina just to get back at Ven would do nothing more than get the boy mad at her, possibly along with Jecht himself. And Jecht did have a good reason. They were still a whiles away from his house, so she needed to conserve her energies in case the Bellicosians decided to come back for another round. Seathing her sword she turned her back to Ven and glared at Jecht, "Do not stop . . . us . . . next . . . time . . ."

"I won't." Jecht said looking at Ven. He knew Ven had no chance in the fight that was about to happen. "C'mon, wasting time is not something you want to do." He was going to get something to eat today, and hopefully they'd make it to his house by tomarrow. He had been stuck without supplies before, it sucked. Your tired, hungry and thirsty. HE started to walk again, motioning for them to follow him. He was sure they were going the right way now, and of course he kept a close eye on his compass so they didn't end up lost with no sense of where they were going.

Ven put Fenrir back on his back and said,"Jecht...thanks for telling us to stop." He sighed and said,"I probably would have gotten my butt kicked from here to the Shaman's place." He looked confident on the outside, but inside...he knew there was no chance to beat her. She was at a higher level than he was. This means I have to get stronger...stronger than Noelle...stronger than anyone! he thought to himself. Cause if I'm getting this freaked out about fighting Noelle...I'll never kill that assassin..then I can't avenge my father.

Reina followed behind Jecht still shaking. She had taken a small piece of cloth, that was already covered in dirt, out of her small bag she had. She started to try and wipe the blood off her arm. Reina was glad no one asked what happened. She didn't want anyone to know. Why? Because she didn't know herself. How could she tell someone about it if she didn't know about it herself. Reina kept scrubbing her arm with the cloth turning her arm red. Some of the blood had dried and wasn't coming off. Reina couldn't get her mind off what had happened. She had killed someone, just like before.

Noelle, out of the corner of her eye, caught Reina trying to scrub away the dried blood with a dirty rag. She had to admt she got a bit of amusemen out of this, not tat she enjoyed watching Reina in trouble, but because it reminded her of how she had been once; in fact if Noelle ever admited it to herself the truth was Reina was almost exctly like hw she sd to be. Walking over to Reina's side she gently took the dirty rag from her hand and usd her abilities to wash out the dirt, the water materializing from the air, and then handed it back to her, "It is . . . better . . . to wash with a . . . clean . . . rag . . ."

Noelle just walked beside Reina as she held the newly cleaned rag in her hand. She was probably confused on how Noelle seemed to go from being such a kind person to one who didn't mind killing at least ten men without a second thought. However Noelle's mind wasn't stuck thinking on th past, instead she was starting to figure out how to train not only Reina in mastering her powers, but on how to ensure that Ven would be strong enough to fight along side Reina.
