When Reina lowered her head Noelle gave a small thwack, not enough to hurt her though, but enough to wake her up, "Keep forming . . . the water . . ."

 

She looked up at the sun, almost setting in the horizon to their left, and she was able to figure out that it must've been at least six thirty seven at the moment. "Not much sun light . . . left," she thought as they continued to walked through the woods. Soon enough it would be night and they would not be able to transverse the lands any farther. While she thought about their situation she glanced over to see Reina burst another ball of water, her breathing having long since grown heavy, and knew they had to stop at that exact moment or risk getting her ill. Stepping out in front she turned to the rest of the group and gave an announcement, "We will camp . . . here . . . for the night . . ."

 

Everyone looked around to see that they had been stopped on a very thick patch of the woods. The trees were so locse to each other that could honestly couldn't stretch your legs out properly without hitting a stump in any direction. It was obviously not going to be comfertable nor fit the number of people which was in the group.

She was talking to herself so then she wouldn't get in trouble. Reina continued to make the ball over and over. She kept doing it until she couldn't anymore. She was too tired to try anymore. Reina collasped to the ground. Her collar started to burn her and a voice kept telling her to keep trying. Reina started up again trying to make the ball of water stay in her hand without bursting. She wanted the pain to stop.

Ven looked at Reina and said,"Reina...your burning yourself out doing this over and over again." He put his hands on Reina's shoulders and said,"You have to take a break, if you don't you'll wear out your energy and when a problem does come...you'll be a sitting duck." He sighed then looked at Reina's eyes. "You gotta trust what I'm saying..I know you want to control your powers...but do burn yourself out doing it." he said with a slight smile.

"But...I gotta listen...I gotta listen to master! He told me to keep doing it!" Her collar burned her neck more. Reina dug her nails into the ground. What was she going to do now? She formed another ball of water in the air. Reina wanted the pain to stop. She felt like the collar was burning into her neck. What else was she to do but listen to what she was told? Reina kept the water there in front of her. It wasn't bursting like before.

Noelle ignored that Reina had mistaken her for a male, or had aligned her with the former master she once was owned by, and instead continued to watch on. She could see plainly that the collar was causing her excrusiating pain and she was on the verge of breaking; both mentally and physically. But one her friend told her that it was enough she had went so far did Reina finally form another ballof water and keep it formed through the cloud of agony. Nodding her head Noelle walked towards Reina and then took the water bubble from her, "That is . . . enough for . . . today . . . rest while I . . . make camp . . ."

 

Turning around Noelle held the ball of water above her head and continued to make i bigger by absorbing the moisture from the surrounding trees, making them grow thin and frail. With a sizeable ball of water, enough drinking water that the group could last a week on it, she held her hands up as it slithered down to her shoudlers; shethen let them rest to he side almost as if they were tentacles. Looking around at the frail trees she then made a series of motions, which to the untrained eye, looke more like a graceful dance. Finishing Noelle landed in front of Reina on one knee as the frail trees surrounding them burst into dust; the area now big enough or the group to sleep.

"Keep going Reina. Keep making the water." Reina heard the voice again. It was her master telling her what to do. It was him. She would know his voice from anywhere. She shook trying to get the pain to stop. What was she to do? "Please master...No more...I can't..." The voice repeated its words again. She had no other choice really. Reina didn't do what she was told though. She sat there digging her nails in the ground. Finally Reina collapsed. She fell to the ground unconscious.

"REINA!!" Ven said as he saw Reina fall to the ground unconscious. He ran to her side and tried to wake her up. "Come on princess...get up, please!" he said. "P-Please wake up...your so close of getting to Heartfall...you gotta get up!!" He had a few tears stream down his face. "Reina...come back to us...please.." He didn't know why he was crying, he hadn't felt this close to a person in a long while. Right now he was feeling something weird...he felt like, he like Reina.

Reina woke up a bit later. She didn't know where she was but her neck hurt badly. She sat up looking at Ven. "What's wrong?" She asked. Reina only needed a little sleep and she was wide awake. She was worried cause Ven seemed to be acting funny. She heard him calling out to her while she was unconscious. Reina's ears were back. Had she done something wrong. She was remembering what had happened before she collapsed. Reina then realized she must of gotta him worried.

Ven saw Reina wake and he gotten a smile on his face. He quickly wiped the tears out of his eyes and said,"Y-You passed out..I kinda got a little worried. I-I'm just glad your alright..." He helped Reina up on her feet helped dust herself and said,"Are you gonna be alright, princess? Do you need some rest...o-or relax to regain your strength??" He knew he was probably getting on Reina's nervous by asking all these questions.

Reina looked at him. "I can't relax. If I do I could be attacked. I don't want that. I don't want to be attacked. " Reina was so tense her muscles were hurting. She didn't want to be hurt again. She didn't want to be captured. Reina stood there and looked at the ground. She sighed. She really wanted to rest but couldn't. She was too afraid to. Reina looked at him agian trying to figure out if what she said was wrong. She didn't want to upset him. She wanted them all to be happy.

Ven smiled and hugged Reina. He then let go of her and said,"What part of me and Jecht are here to protect you...do you not get?" He was looking determined to protect Reina, he didn't look like this before when they met. Now, it seemed that he was protecting her for another reason. "I promise you..I'll get you back to Heartfall and your people. I'll fight till my last breath to get you home." he said with a smile.

Reina hugged him back and a smile appeared on her face. She was happy that they were there. "I just...I don't know how to relax. " Reina told him. She really didn't All these years she had been tense and was trying so hard not to mess up. Now she was trying to relax. How does she do that? She had no ideas on how to do that. Reina sighed again and sat down on the ground. She rubbed her neck. She then curled up on the ground and closed her eyes. Maybe if she layed there she could finally relax some.

Ven sat next to Reina and said,"You just lay back and take a rest. Thats pretty much how to relax...yeah I know, I suck at trying to explain stuff like that." He chuckled a bit and then pulled out a fruit and handed it to Renia. "Here, I only have one more left and I want you to have it." he said with a smile. "You need to eat to regain some of your strength..you used a lot of it when you did that little water bubble thing."

"Thank you." Reina took the food and slowly ate it. Her taste buds were running wild again. She wanted to eat is so fast and enjoy the wonderful taste it had but she ate is slow so she wouldn't get sick. That way she could enjoy it longer. She finished it and curled back up. Reina looked at him once again and was trying to figure out what he was thinking. She hoped that she hadn't messed up in some way. Reina didn't want to get hit like all the times before. She kept thinking people were like her master. That was all she knew growing up. People hurting her like her master.

Ven yawned a bit and laid on his back, after he put Fenrir to his side. He looked at Reina and then looked at the sky. "Well, princess..I'm going to take a little nap *yawn* so I can get some of my energy back. That way I can protect you." he said as he closed his eyes. He had a smile on his face, when he thought about getting Reina back to Heartfall. He hoped that him and her would both be together for a long time...if not, then he'd just go with making swords for the kingdom of Heartfall.

Reina lifted her head. She crawled over to him and then curled up at Ven's side. She closed her eyes again. Reina felt safer this way and it was much warmer to. She was cold. If he didn't want her there he would let her know, right? Reina started to warm up some and felt more tired. She actually thought she was going to fall asleep. She started to doze off at his side. Reina didn't want to have nightmares. She hoped that tonight she was going to have good dreams and not bad.

Ven opened one of his eyes when he felt someone next to him. He saw Reina right next to him. He smiled a bit and closed his eye. Don't worry Reina. I'll protect you...I'll make sure you're safe. he thought to himself as he drifted off to sleep. I guess she feels safer with me. I just hope I'll be able to protect her.. Wait! Ven, stop talking like your a loser! You'll protect her.... He sighed a bit in his sleep as he continued to think to himself. I'll make you proud dad...just watch me.

Reina fell asleep. She was dreaming of her brother Rein. They were near the pond watching the water. Reina smiled up at him. "I want to be like you big brother. Strong and able to help everyone." Reina told him. He looked at her. "Just be yourself Reina and you can be strong and able to help everyone." She looked confused. What did he mean? Rein had a serious look on his face. "Reina remember this." He put his hand on her shoulder. "You need to ask for help sometimes. You can't do everything on your own. How can people know you need help if you don't ask for it? Ask for help sometimes, okay Reina?" Reina had a tear slide down her cheek. Her brother was always right. She missed him so much.

While Reina and Ven sleeped Noelle had looked around them, getting a sense of the night air and anything that could be close by. Hearing Ven muttering in his sleep about protecting Reina and, likewise, Reina mentioning someone's name she turned her back to them. Walking out of the campsite she headed a couple feet away, just out of sight, and climbed a tree all the way to the very top; the full moon shinning brightly as it hung low in the night sky. Inhaling deeply she then let out a sigh as her eyes slowly opened back up, she could not sleep . . . she had hardly ever slept since she had found herself in this strange place . . . but she knew she would eventually dose off . . . eventually . . .

 

The night passed by quicetly, Noelle and the rest having fallen alseep one by one, and the morning sun brought with it strange men who wandered through the forest. They poked the mossy leaf bedding of the forest floor, neither lost nor scavanging, but instead they looked for something; looked for someone. One of the men found Jecht off in the distance and reported back as another of his commrades stumbled upon the sleeping Reina and Van, still sleeping side by side. Unsure of who they were, or what the female was, he leaned in and made a stick snap loudly underfoot- waking the young girl.

Reina stretched and sat up. She was thirsty. She looked around to see if there was something to drink nearby. Sighing Reina stood up and stretched again. Her cat ears were flattened back still and her tail curled around her leg. Reina wondered where they were and wanted to explore some. She always wants to explore new places to her. She was just curious about the new world around her. Being locked up for such a long time made it so she couldn't learn about the world. Reina walked up to a tree and looked at it. She knocked on it. She noticed some of the bark gone. It was from a deer but she didn't know that. Reina thought that maybe she could eat it. She licked the tree and made a face. It tasted so strange but no where near as good as that fruit Ven had given her. Her stomach growled. Reina had a bad feeling about something but the wind was gently blowing toward the strangers so Reina couldn't catch the scent. She knew that something was there but couldn't tell what it was.

Despite havng been soclose to gthe cat-girl the soldier was suprised that, once she woke up, she merely got up without ever noticing him. Had she been so sleepy that her mind couldn't recognize the shape of another person standing a few feet in front of her? Or did his black clothing make it so that he blended in with the surrounding area? Aye it had to have been the other, because though she was still a bit asleep no ammount of it would make her not notice him. Motioning slowly to his leader he pointed, made guestures, and finally recieved his orders. She wasn't the one whom they were looking for . . . but such a rare beauty in this area could not just be left alone. Pulling out a white cloth the man snuck behind her and once he had gotten close enough, pounced. Grabbing hold of her tightly he placed the cloth over her mouth, the fumes quckly knocking her out once more.

"!?" Reina didn't have time to fight. She had been grabbed and something put over her mouth and nose. She tried to get away but was knocked out. Her body went limp. She couldnt do anything at all but just let her body fall unconscious. The others were still asleep where she had left them. What was she to do? Reina was out and someone had grabbed her. She didn't even get to ask what they wanted.

Ven heard like something was fighting something. He yawned and slowly woke up. He sat up and rubbed his eyes a bit. He looked at Reina, not noticing the guy with her since he was half asleep, and said,"Hey Reina.." He laid back down and stayed there...for about 2 seconds. Then he quickly got up and grabbed Fenrir. He pointed it at the guy and said,"Alright..whoever the hell you are...release Reina and I might let you live."

"Be quite, you wouldn't want to wake your friends," someone's voice called out from behind Ven and he could feel the end of a sword poking his right shoulder blade. It was then he completely realized they were surrounded by men in armor and armed to the teeth. The man who had knocked Reina out had slung her over his shoulder and hoisted her up. The leader of the group walked into the camp as quickly as possible, unsure if there were others around. Motioning towards Ven he tossed some rope to his men; it was now obvious they meant to tie him up and take Reina to where ever it was they had come from. As the men tied Ven's wrists together the group was inspecting Reina and claiming what kind of price they'd get out of her.

Ven glared at the men that tied him up. He tried to get his hands free, but it was no use. He looked at the men and said,"Hey! Keep your hands off of her!!" Ven didn't know what to do, now that his hands we're tired. Without his hands...he couldn't use Fenrir to kick the men's butts. "Just leave Reina alone!! Picking on a girl...are you that desperate??" he asked glaring at them. He need to keep them talking, that way they wouldn't take her away.
