PikMan
Hello, this is PikMan. I may have epically failed at Fanfic reviews, but I'm trying my luck with movies.[spoiler=Review #1: The Last Airbender]As Chester E. Bum would say, "This is the GREATEST movie I've ever seen in my life!" But then again, he says that with every movie except Citizen Kane and the Dark Knight. So let's ignore him. Come to think of it, I seem to be one of the 1% of people who actually LIKED the movie. In fact, it beat the Hitchhiker's Guide as my #1 favorite underrated movie. For those who missed the TV show, here's the plot in a nutshell: A kid named Aang is the only one who can use the powers of Air, Water, Earth, and Fire. Unfortunately, he can't accept his position, so he runs away and gets frozen in a giant iceberg. Meanwhile, the Fire Nation doesn't want Aang to ruin their conquest, so he anhialates every last Airbender (Hence the title "The Last Airbender"). A hundred years later, he gets thawed out by a Waterbender named Katara and her brother Sokka, and now Aang has to master all 4 elements. The film was, overall, fairly accurate in recreating Season 1 of the show, aside from excluding important plot moments, including (But not limited to) the omission of the characters of Suki and Jet. They had to cut out Suki, and yet they kept in Haru and Tyro? WTC? Well, in their defense, the 2 omitted characters aren't important until seasons 3 and 2, respectively. Anyway, the film basically covers the following episodes of Season 1:-The Boy in the Iceberg-The Avatar Returns-The Southern Air Temple-Imprisoned-The Blue Spirit-The Northern Air Temple-The Waterbending Master-The Seige of the North The film is actually, on its own, very good. The actors do a convincing job, and the 3D effects added to the experience without having to use cheap 3D tricks. (Cue Fozzie Bear popping up and controlling a remote-controlled pie) The music was OK also, but they didn't use any music from the actual show. The main problem was that they used too many slow-mo scenes, especially near the end. If the main problem is overuse of a well-known cliche, then that means that the movie is great. I give it a 9.0 out of 10. (If you don't nitpick it for accuracy to the show, it might be slightly higher.)
