Thar
Username: BludFavorite Mario Game: Super Mario 64 (N64 *DS version is okay, too.*)Favorite Mario Character: Luigi. I feel sorry for the guy. Plus he can jump higher. Why you want to join: I have been a fan of Nintendo since I received my first Game Boy Color at age 12. It has not been until age 17 when I realized that Nintendo was better than any other gaming company. Mario is awesome! So is Legend of Zelda. Sooo pumped for Skyward Sword to come out! Impress me with your Mario knowledge here: Gosh, I don't know where to start. I mean, my first Mario game was none other than Super Mario Bros Deluxe for GBC. Aside from the history of his games, I know that the damsel in Donkey Kong (her name was Pauline) should be in a game where Luigi has to save her in his own platformer game. I know that Mario was raised by Yoshi and his dinosaur friends in Yoshi's Island, and who doesn't know that Bowser is his arch-nemesis (Wario is, too, but he's too much of a pea brain to be mentioned.) I can go on, but it's late and I'm tired after playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 for 3 whole hours.
Dark
Dark, don't you think if Time were real, then Time Travel would exist in the future? If Space were real, then we would be able to actually move through solid objects when we want. They do exist, but they are not real. They are illusions man is bound to actually. I don't know who put those ideas into your head, but they're wholly stupid. I drafted a long essay-type post earlier, but the forum decided to crash the second I tried posting it (and I trusted the new forum so much that I didn't even bother copy/pasta-ing it). So I'll post a brief version here. Time travel theoretically is possible through three methods. High-speed travel, high-gravitation, or wormholes. The first two are theoretically proven to be correct. The first one takes an extremely large amount of energy to have effective results, as one Russian astronaut has orbited in space for upwards of 10000 hours and has only traveled 1/50 of a second forward in time. At or around the speed of light, however, a few years will create a time travel of a few thousand years, but who has that sort of energy? The second takes gravitation around a black hole which is physically beyond us at the moment, but it serves as an easier way to time travel. Wormholes aren't proven to exist. And I never understood the concept of wormholes as time travel, only space travel. Anyways, I could explain the theory of space-time warping due to high speeds or gravitation as outlined in the theory of relativity, but you probably already know that. Time travel forward is theoretically acceptable. Time travel backward is not proven, and takes one of two theories (the multiverse theory or another unnamed theory broken by Occam's Razor) to show that it is even theoretically possible. The concept of space is that atoms take up part of our three-dimensional space and nothing else can be in that space at the same time (except for dark energy, I think). I can't walk through a solid lead block because those lead atoms take up that space. I cannot occupy that space because the universe already has set information for that space at that given time. It's like trying to fill a 100mL beaker with 150mL of water. The whole concept of space is that no two things can occupy the same "space". I'll illustrate your argument in a logic diagram (I need to practice those, anyways). Space implies definition x (which says that information at a given point at a given time cannot be altered) Because space does not imply "not x", space does not exist The way you define space is a lot different from the way physics define space if you expect me to be able to walk through a solid block of lead. Unless I'm living in a four-dimensional space (and I'm a four-dimensional creature, which I am not), there is no way I am getting through that three-dimensional block of lead. Ever. To answer your first question, time travel already is possible. And it already has been done on small scales. To answer your second question, the definition of space implies that you cannot alter set information of the universe. Lonk
Impressive. So in order for someone to utilize Time Travel, we would need to break the acceleration of the speed of light and harness it in one contained area. I guess there may have been some idiots that have traveled through the time stream and did something, which might have sparked an alternate universe. We are living in one of a possible 10 Million alternate universes. The Human Mind can also understand generally on the 3rd dimension and some to the 4th dimension. However, there are various other dimensions humanity does not understand. Like I said, speaking with you guys makes my day. *Sentimentally Speaking* You really do care :D Also,
Ice.
To answer your first question, time travel already is possible. And it already has been done on small scales. Like the time when the military put 2 clocks in two planes, and when they both came back, one plane was a few seconds off, right? I suck at this kind of s*** so I'm probably wrong. Thar
Welcome to the club, Blud! Thanks. It's a pleasure to be here. So since time travel is possible and it's been proven why do so many people still deny it? How was it proven? Personally I think it's impossible because if we are talking about traveling back in time, then someone would have already done it at the time, which throws me off even more considering that at that time, our present day would be considered the future to them, which, at the time, didn't exist. So basically, in their eyes, the future came out of nowhere, which is both physically and scientifically impossible based on what I've learned. Don't ask me. I had friends up north where I moved from that had whole group discussions about this. It's pretty intense.

From what I've been reading here it's been saying that it's been done before but just in shorter periods instead of long periods. Read Cipher's post above mine. If that didn't really make any difference it just shows that either they went back or forward in time or were able to speed it up or slow it down. Dark
No, you don't need to go faster than light. Time and space are warped at high speeds in general. Going slower than the speed of light (but still fast enough to be beyond our capabilities at the moment) is more than enough to travel forward in time. Again, the Russian astronaut that is 1/50 of a second faster than all of us didn't travel anywhere near the speed of light. He was going at the speed of a rocket in orbit - to put that into retrospect, he was going at the pace of an ant compared to the speed of a car. If we want to travel much farther in time, however, we need to harness higher speeds. The Human Mind can also understand generally on the 3rd dimension and some to the 4th dimension. However, there are various other dimensions humanity does not understand. All we've understood so far about the fourth spacial dimension is that it may exist, it would be a huge jump in proving string theory correct, and we've developed a model of what the shadow of a four-dimensonal "cube" would look like. We can't even process the fourth dimension just like flat creatues cannot process the third dimension. They can think about it all they wish, but they'll never be able to understand it. Like the time when the military put 2 clocks in two planes, and when they both came back, one plane was a few seconds off, right? I suck at this kind of s*** so I'm probably wrong. ...kind of. If you put a time measuring device in Brazil near the equator and you put a time measuring device on a rocket ship, wait for ten years to progress, and have them compared side-by-side, the one on the rocket ship would have progressed much less. Essentially, it only moved forward maybe 9.99 years in time, but everything else moved forward 10 years. So it time traveled 0.01 years. Obviously bullshit numbers, but the concept remains true. So since time travel is possible and it's been proven why do so many people still deny it? Because people assume time travel involves some magic machine and assume time travel involves instantaneous travel. That will not be done in my lifetime, and it won't be done in your lifetime. The conceptual time travel I am talking about isn't what the general populus considers time travel, and there is a huge debate in physics on what the true definition of time travel is. Going back to the clock example, the clock didn't necessarily travel in time. Time just slowed down, so when he returned to the normal "speed" of time, he was a lot farther in. Not necessarily time travel, but the fact remains that you can be born in 2000 and live in the year 5000 yet still be 65 years old. Is that not time travel? Are you not skipping 2935 years of time? How was it proven? Personally I think it's impossible because if we are talking about traveling back in time, then someone would have already done it at the time, which throws me off even more considering that at that time, our present day would be considered the future to them, which, at the time, didn't exist. So basically, in their eyes, the future came out of nowhere, which is both physically and scientifically impossible based on what I've learned. I explained how it was proven above. I said that time travel backwards is not theoretically proven and goes against Occam's Razor unless you believe in the multiverse theory. A lot of people don't, and for good reason.
