HORUS
ive seen LOTS of decks with 50, 60, sometimes 70+ cards in them. my question is: why? most people answer "i have more good cards in here" no. wrong. bad. stop. help. police. murder. you may have 3 each of Raiza/Thesty/Mobius/Zaborg, all the gadgets, 3 survivors, 3 macro cosmos, 3 dimensional fissure, 3 pulling the rug, 3 dark bribes, 3 solemns in that deck, and max out on all staples and basic other cards for your deck type, and it is NOT GOING TO BE GOOD. so you may be thinking: "why should i have less cards in my deck?" the answer is that you will get the good cards faster, and use them to your advantage faster. plus, cards like Card Trooper, Deko, and other cards that help you draw will help you get those cards you need even faster. most good advanced format decks are 40 cards, but there are 1.5 exceptions. Gadgets are one. never have only 40 cards in your gadget deck. you will draw into all your gadgets and fail. epicly. 43 is a good number for gadgets. the .5 exception is Macro. if youre running 3 Macro Cosmos, 2/3 Banisher of the Radiance, and 2/3 D-Fissure, you better have at least 43 cards in your deck. drawing into Macro Cosmos when you already have 1 on the field, a banisher of the radiance on the field, and 2 D Fissures in hand, SUCKS. please run 43 cards in these decks. the reason that one is only .5 is because some Macro decks run only 3 D-Fissure/3 Macro Cosmos and 1/2 Banishers. 40 is good for that. youll be safe from dead draws with this. Extreme ''Dont's'' of decking DO NOT: * Run more than 45 cards unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. just cut out that extra D-Fissure and Lightning Vortex to give you 43 if you want.* deck a card because you like it. eww. no. fail.* deck a card because it "can be useful in certain situations". it will not happen.* deck cards that depend on certain other cards and most importantly: DONT DECK funking E HEROES. i hope you have enjoyed this rant. i do hope to see you 60+'ers cutting out about 20 cards. thank you for reading. george/eli, feel free to kill me if i missed something or if you dont agree. Omega.2000
While I agree with what you are saying here there is also the Skill factor to include. Some people can make a 60 card deck work.
Abstract [Atrocity]
Just the other day I dueled someone on Gameking who has 193 cards in their deck... I was running myDD Stall. I had a Gravity Bind, and since they had193 cards, they couldn't get to a heavy storm / MSTbefore I finished them off. There's nothing morally wrong with a deck of cards that big... you just cantexpect to win, at all.

HORUS
do you think i am unaware that skill is involved in this game? if you are so skilled, why do you not realize that having 40 cards makes that skill easier to use, instead of waiting 20 turns for your MST so you can kill some noobs gravity bind? Shaco
Mostly agree w/ Horus. But do you mind if I take a second to address something. WTF is with everyone saying things like "Fail." and "nuff said." for me it's lost some of its meaning & appeal.I agree for the most part, but I have trouble siding with you because of the extreme bashing of anyone who decides that those guidelines may be flawed, or just doesn't agree. Umbra
[mathgeek]If you have 40 cards in your deck, there's a 1/40 (2,5%) chance to draw it. 1/20 (5%) if you have two of that card, and 3/40 (7,5%) chance if you have three. Now, let's say you have 60 cards. That means the odds decrease to 1/60 (1,6%), 1/30 (3,3%), and 1/20 (5%). Conclusion: The odds to draw a card when you have 60 cards instead of 40 is 40% lower.Final Conclusion: USE 40 CARDS![/mathgeek]
Cyber Altair
you may be right but my Deck has 45-47 cant really remember and it's good althought i've seen some 55-60 cards decks and they work well if they get the right support.
Guest Ixigo
The point in playing Yugioh is having fun... how can you have fun if you have to break your head all the time, "will I draw this, what kind of percentage will I have of drawing this card, and how will it be influenced if I add this one..." That kind of thinking is, in one word, failure. You lose the meaning of the game, and all enjoyment comes from beating so-called "noobs" who run decks they like and have fun with them. Which is, in a very literal sense of the word, sick. Just use cards you like. YOU LIKE E-HEROES? USE E-HEROES. For the love of god, this is a game, it is supposed to be fun, not like... "Omfg, I must use these Monarchs, or there is a 65.753 chance that I'll lose" or "Omfg, I have 44 cards instead of 43, the world is doomed". Where is the fun in that? Unless you play to win money in tournaments, that kind of thinking is absolutely retarded in my book, and I will never, ever come to respect a person who bashes other people for using cards they like, in a deck they like, in a game they like. 'Nuff said.
Exiro
I have a deck with 48 cards. The reason it has so many cards is because it uses many cards like Giant Germ and Hero Kid, you can't have 1 or 2 cards of it, it's either 3 or 0. But the deck is just new and I do want to reduce it to 40 cards but I don't know what I should take out. So I will play with my deck like this for a little while until I know which cards/combo's don't work in my deck. And it isn't that much of a failure like it is right now. HORUS
thanks for doing the math Umbra. that helps explain a lot more. Exiro, just cut out 2 or 3 cards and you will find it a lot easier to pull of your combos. Ixigo, yes this game is about having fun, but why not have fun and win? lots more fun for you. and i dont do math in my head to decide if i should use a card. thats pointless. i use the right number of good cards, and thats how to win. Clown, the only support a deck with 60 cards in it would be a card that cuts 20 useless cards in your deck before the duel starts, so you have 40, so its MUCH BETTER. seriously, why are people arguing??? "oh you could use 60 cards with more support and its better blah blah blah" no. bad. stop. "its just for fun" cant be fun if you never win. for those who are arguing, give me some good reasons how a 60 card deck is better than 40, and i will donate all my points to you. Guest
HORUS i dont think anyone can give good reasons on how a 60 card deck is better, For one thing i don't know why people are arguing its pretty simple that a 40 card deck has a better chance of pulling cards then a 60 card deck
HORUS
yeah i know. there are no good reasons why 60 is better. it really is that simple. less cards = way more likely to get cards you need = good more cards = hard to get the right cards = suck
Flame Dragon
I agree 100%, all of my decks have 40-43 cards, more to 43. The only deck that doesn't is my E.Hero deck :P
