oh yeah

Ash never caught any real pokemon (ok mabye a few)

Gary got 10 badges' date=' Ash only got 8.

Ash loses every gym battle first

Gary has only lost 4 battles in the entire anime

Ash gives away all his pokemon

Gary never does

Ash only earns about half of his badges LESS!!!

Gary has earned 10 badges on his own

[/quote']

A good amount of these are wrong/misleading.

All of Ash's Pokemon are authentic, and there's no reason to believe otherwise.

Gary got 18 badges, Ash got 36 badges and 7 symbols.

When battling for a badge/symbol, Ash has lost to Brock, Surge, Sabrina, Blaine, Whitney, Brawly, Brandon, and Roark. He also tied with Maylene. He got badges from Sabrina and Erika without earning them, and his first to badges were essentially earned (he rejected the first one but got it anyways, and his sisters handed him the second one when Team Rocket interrupted a battle he was winning). All of this is nothing compared to the other 27 badges and 6 symbols he earned on his first try and by battling.

Ash still has Pikachu, Heracross, Quilava, Staraptor, Bulbasaur, Kingler, Muk, 30 Tauros, Snorlax, Bayleef, Totodile, Noctowl, Donphan, Swellow, Sceptile, Corphish, Torkoal, Glalie, Infernape, Torterra, Buizel and Gible. Furthermore, he has left Primeape, Charizard, Squirtle ad Gliscor in the care of someone other than Professor Oak (they're still his, he's recalled Charizard four times and Squirtle twice). He's only given away Beedrill and released Pidgeot, Lapras and Butterfree. 4 Pokemon is nothing compared to the other 26.

We only see Gary's onscreen fights and journey. Who's to say he hasn't lost more battles or released a few things himself? Who's to say he didn't earn some of those without battling? Also, you need to note the low amount of Gary's fights we actually see on-screen before acting like 4 is a low number.

I was talking about the original series, Gary had 5 badges by episode 25, and 10 by the end! Besides, did he really catch Charmander or Squirtle, they didnt put up much of a fight if he did, anyhow, Garys just plain cooler (in the opinion of 97% of the pokemon fandom on this fourm) I bet he never almost gave up Eevee! or Squirtle! Gary has won every fight agianst ash but ONE! he caught a kraby 4 Times bigger then ashes, and Ash is just plain Gay

i have no freaking idea of why would he catch 30 Tauros? does he intend to start a bull farm?

and lets not forget that he never managed to evolve his pokemon to its last evolution while Red did o3o

but this isn't about Red is it ._.?

We don't know how Gary got his Pokemon. Any comparison in terms of that cannot be proven.

Also, the majority isn't always right (For Example, 54% of the USA supports Arizona's new law that discriminates against Hispanics). I'm not saying Gary isn't awesome, I do think he is, but I'm just saying the more people agreeing doesn't mean much.

Let's look at the Ash VS Gary battle record:

Eevee VS Pikachu at Oak's = Eevee Wins, however - this was a plot device to make Ash go to Johto. Furthermore, the Orange League just ended - Pikachu was due for a power-down like every season.

Ash VS Gary in the Silver Conference = Ash Wins, this battle also showed that Gary's Golem has only 40 HP and that Blastoise's Hydro Pump is stupidly weak.

Electivire VS Pikachu = Gary Wins. This was also a plot device to move Ash to Sinnoh. Furthermore, the writers have literally never allowed Pikachu to beat a Pokemon from the Electabuzz family. This was also after the post-season power-down.

Gary may have won 2/3 times, but the writers used him as a plot device for those two times. Notably, the original plan for the series was to have Ash beat Gary in the finals of the Indigo League and become a Pokemon Master. That would have let it at 1 win for Ash and none for Gary.

Ok ok I get it, all I'm saying is, even if it is a plot device, they put in little hints the Gary is better, Krabys size, saving people from team rocket WHEN ASH COULDNT! The amount of pokemon he had caught before ash did, and finnaly, my favorite, he had 5 badges by episode 25, thats estimated a badge every five episodes, but is subjectible to change

I'm not arguing that Gary is awesome.

It's what you try using to prove it that I have problems with. 8)

Yeah, a badge every 5 episodes is quite nice. I'd expect faster when he has a car, but it's still quite nice.

Incidentally, how did Gary catch anything or even train his Pokemon when he was driving from place to place with multiple girlfriends? O.o

A gag I guess.

Dont Call Gary Oak a prick' date=' He's better then Ash ketchup. Ash wouldnt be nearly as good as he is today (which he isnt even good at all) if Gary didnt push him so much, besides, Gary complimneted ash once, after he beat him for the first time

[/quote']

oh c'mon don't act like one of those fanboys T.T

he may be a skilled trainer and have like a hell lot of OP pokemanz but he acts like a smartass and thats not cool Yo!

btw if i'm not mistaken he is a main character as well since he is Ash's rival

WAS.

Now, due to him stupidly giving up battling to become a researcher, he's been a secondary character. After Sinnoh, they're apparently hitting the reset button on most of the main cast, leaving Ash, Pikachu, and Team Rocket. I assume he's pretty much gone for good after that.

Yeah...

The main cast is apparently this (leaked image, some of the stuff has been confirmed as real though, so it's most likely true):
