There we go, close enough, either way, the question is, who would win in a pokemon battle, not whos better so the answer is gary

Garys always beaten ash, he may have lost once, but never after that.

plus Ash and Gary arnt in the games, only red and blue/green

plus Ash and Gary arnt in the games' date=' only red and blue/green

[/quote']Besides the fact that the characters Ash and Gary are based on are in the games, and so supersede anything about anime!Ash and anime!Gary, you can name Ash/Red and Gary/Blue whatever the hell you want. To say nothing of the fact that Ash and Gary are listed among the default names alongside Red and Blue.

Ash even has his Pikachu following him around.

Tough choice. But I say Gary. Once dragged into his underwater habitat' date=' or splashed by its slime, Ash would melt away.

OBJECTION

Thats a pile of ash and Gary snail

You're not funny [/noob]

Get jokes, man.

Anyways, as a Law of Anime, all characters' powers are horrid. Like Yugi and Joey, Gary and Ash are both bad.

So' date=' Pikachu goes back to lvl 5 at the begining of every season

[b']lolwut

Every season, Ash stops playing. You ever notice how from Johto on, they include the female protagonist of whatever the generation game is? That's because they're the player character. Ash is just there to unify the show.[/b]

and you can only pick to play as red/ash, so you cant say that he's better, if you could play as blue/gary, he would pwn

lolyesyoucan.

Obligatory Touhou analogy: Reimu is the most consistent player character in Touhou; Marisa is the other one. Either are capable of defeating Yukari Yakumo in a danmaku duel in Perfect Cherry Blossom. Therefore, either is capable of defeating Yukari Yakumo in a danmaku duel. Besides that, they're also capable of defeating each other; therefore, they're roughly as powerful as each other, Reimu only winning because of her absurd Fantasy Heaven technique.

Legend of Zelda analogy: Link is the only playable character. "if u cud play as ganondorf hed win." "if u cud play as blizeta shed win." "if u cud play as chanseler cole hed win." NO FRICKING DUH. But because he's the playable character, he wins. If you're playing as them, you're expected to defeat all your enemies.

Epitoma: The playable character is playable for a reason. Because they're the playable character, canonically, they defeat and are superior to every boss in the game. The bosses are just enemies, and Gary is just as much a boss as Kaworu Nagisa — it's easy to forget he is, but really, he's nothing more.

plus, even in the games, he beats the elite 4 first, PWND

He's also a pushover compared to Cynthia. >.>

Also, GSCHGSS post-game. Blue is the Vermillion City Gym Leader in Giovanni's place. Red is an optional trainer and the strongest trainer in the game. Remember that Blue is Gary and Red is Ash via default names.
