I don't expect perfection, but I also don't expect blatant errors. Perfection is something one strives for. You shoot for the stars and beyond.

I have a feeling you didn't really read what I said. Did I not say small details are important to sprites? I also said a bunch of the errors are noticeable at glance. I saw the bad recoloring on the wings, no need to stare long or zoom in.

The things I'm point out are not minor issues. Unrecolored borders is an issue.

Also although maybe some of your shop visitors might not care for perfection, if they knew you were going in without trying to do your best, that you would purposely leave something unfinished and give it to them? I mean if you go to buy a car, are you Ok if the mechanic just left some issue in the car because he didn't feel like it?

Again, I don't expect perfection, but attempt would be nice. I know lots of sprites and splices that are far beyond your level. They're plenty close to perfection. I could probably inspect for 5 minutes and only find maybe one thing to change, one move of a pixel, and it would probably be a matter of opinion rather than something actually wrong.

Also YCM puts very little weight on my opinion and feelings on pixel art. Things seem to work the opposite way. There are people who follow MY lead on the ways of spriting. I mention how mirroring is bad, 10 other comments start to point that same thing out.

I can think of a very large number of sprites that when compared to yours makes me laugh. I could fill pages worth of sprites that are all better than yours.

Again I'll say your issues are not minor. Unrecolored borders is a major issue. Bad positioning is a major issue. The copy flip is a major issue. The improper recoloring is a major issue. The random splotches are a major issue. Lack of anatomy is a major issue. Bad positioning is a major issue. None of these things are the small minor issues you think they are.

As for your comment about you being better than me, you must be joking. I'm normally quite modest, ask anyone. Every time I'm called a "God" or "Master" I deny such claims, saying that I have a lot of room for improvement. There are a large number of spriters who are levels higher than me. You'll often here me throw out the name "Arkeis", a guy who I view as the best splicer around. I would need to take big leaps to catch up to his level.

I can't judge your critisizing or advising you've ever done, as I've never seen it. All I know is I point out problems and give a few ways to fix it so people can understand. I've been thanked and regarded for it before. As for spriting ability, things aren't judged by the number of errors. I'm sure I have sprites with lists of errors. However it's about how bad the errors are. If they distract the from the work, then they are bad. I'm sure I have bad sprites to, but my best blow your best out of the water. Heck some of my worse are still better than your best.

I don't know all about splicing, but I make an attempt to be the best. I've also beendoing this for over two years. So I know plenty. I also don't have to be at the top or above anyone to critisize. A person could have 0 artistic skill, but still know a problem when they see it. I don't know much about music, but I know what kind of music sounds bad.

So to restate: Your flaws aren't minor, you can't just slack and do a bad job on purpose just because it's not 'perfect', and you are very far from being geat and have a lot of improvement to make.

Also on the matter of Trixter I of course stand on the side of not letting him back. His appologies mean nothing. He got caught doing something wrong, he lied, then whent he proof was shown he starts crying about apologies. Don't feel bad for the guy who went out of his way to steal. I've seen caught thieves come right back and cause more trouble. Don't send out the word that this crime is something you can just walk away from. Don't tell potential thieves that there is a second chance.

Oh god, between the two of you, we have quite a bit of reading... ok, so let's see if I can contribute anything...

1st) Pixel art is any regular non-sprite image made with pixels (ie, using MSPaint and whatnot)

2nd) Jappio probably could blow us all out of the water. I might be able to match him if I really bust my hump and try and make the greatest sprite I possibly can, and even that isn't a guarantee...

3rd) Even if we exclude the better splicers (My ability being just on the line between half-assed and good, Jappio a good ways into good, pro spriters on their own "Good Planet") I've seen cooler splices.

4th) Jappio's Tutorial is what got me into splicing (just sayin')

5th) The dude does sheets of Splices.

6th) I know how you feel, man. I've gotten my crap stolen before too (from a different site that didn't know I was on here nontheless. Heh)

So yeah... Anyone else think the HGSS sprites are better than the DPPl sprites?

I think some of them are. I dislike Mewtwo's new sprite for example. Raichu's is adorable as usual, but as far as splicing goes it's not the most useful. I've heard some people complain a few of the sprites have this slightly different light source, so you have to be careful when using them for splicing at times (Yet it's very rare that's noticeable).

I like the colors though, and I think it all has a better and nicer look overall. Probably my favorite sprites they've done yet.

I don't really splice that often anymore (I'm more partial to scratching, but whatever) so I haven't tried anything with new sprites other than the minotaur splice, but that really wasn't that complex (actually relied on scratching, dammit!) But I find they look better. Especially Lugia, it doesn't look like it's copying Ho-oh anymore...

Like I said before' date=' jappio, promo, I'm done arguing. I know I'm right, and that's all that matters.

Yeah... there is no way you are right about this. Art requires time and effort, no matter the medium. And rereading through your earlier post, there is no way you could possibly be AS GOOD as Jappio, let alone better. Especially with your current mindset...

I'm not even gonna say anything about that. I'm being the more mature person here.

The fact that you have to state it makes you look childish. A truly mature person wouldn't even have had responded to my previous comment

So... anyone have a good way to grind. I'm trying to get my team to level 50 (currently all are at 45) before I take on the E4. Anyone got any methods that at least make it bare-able?

When I needed to grind in FireRed' date=' I just battled the bikers. I dunno about HeartGold/SoulSilver, though...

I've fought every trainer up to this point, and waiting around for phone calls is dull.

Also, it's just the satchel the carrier Dragonite uses. It's ok, but could use some detail...

And finally, did anyone else lol at the eleven year old telling the guy who lives on his own, works to pay for school and housing, and knows what he's talking about when he says there needs to be effort in your work that he's childish (although I think that sentence was a run-on... but this is the INTERNET, who cares?)
