I couldve done something about it' date=' and I couldve just left it alone and put it up to see how other people thought about it. If they thought it was fine, then I'll think about it next time I add wings. Obviously, we have completely different opinions. I do strive to push my ability. I'm a dare-devil. I do backflips on a trampoline. On a trampoline, you go straight up, and straight back down. On a diving board, if you dont go out a bit, then ur gonna hurt urself. Of course I learned to do them on a trampoline, and then I did one on a diving board, came back down, hit my leg against the diving board, and fell into the water, and almost fractered / broke my leg. That didnt stop me from doing backflips. Just because I dont re-edit my old sprites, that doesnt mean I can't learn from my mistakes and do better the next time. In fact, in real life, you cant go back in time and fix your mistakes. You have to learn from your mistakes, and make sure you dont make the same mistake again. Either way, you still get just as much better at making sprites, if not, better if you start from scratch. If you have to keep re-editing the same sprite, you have to be really patient. If you're not, then you get really frustrated and lets face it, you're never as good when you're frustrated. If you start from scratch, you can set a whole new goal, it's like starting a new life. It's like moving to a new city and leaving everything behind. You can never get by in life just trying to live with whatever you're doing, just like you can never get much better if you keep re-editing it. But that's just my opinion. Lol, that's a long opinion.

Yes, we may have different opinions, but mine will help you as a spriter, yours will stunt your ability. First of all, if you know about the wings, but want to get a reaction with the shoulder spikes still on, then make two different sprites of it (like you did with the Blastoise arms). And starting from scratch with a similar/same sprite is just a waste of time if you can improve one that already exists. What you seem to think is that quantity will make you better, but that will be a fruitless venture. You need to work for quality, always questioning your ideas and trying out multiple things as well as going back and reworking existing ideas.

Again' date=' just ur opinion.[hr']

also, I didnt say I start from scratch with a similar / same sprite, I said I just start a whole new sprite.

Yeah, just my opinion shared with most great spriters. And an entirely new sprite is even worse, because you don't learn all you can from the previous one!

How do people get more experienced with something in real life? Again, you can't go back and edit the mistakes you made. If you're a soccer player, and you wanna get better, you can't make a mistake, go back in time, fix it, and make everyone think that you're some kind of soccer genious. What do you think people get better at faster: Real life things such as sports, games, etc... Or splices on YCM? It obviously takes longer for most people to get better with splices and other GFXing. Me on the other hand, I got a rep for getting way more experienced at making tags within less than two days. Obviously, my way works better than anyone else's. I know it, and that's all that matters. If any more of you cry babies have anything to say about that, then I'm ignoring it. So there's no point in replying to this.

But I'm replying to this anyway because 1) You're eleven, you don't know s***, 2) You've been splicing all of a week compared to my two years, and 3) Art based activities (especially through digital media) are a lot different that action based activities. And even in sports you are expected to look back at what you've done constantly to see where you need improvement, spriting just allows you to practice on it. And whoopdy-freaking-doo that someone repped you on a tag, that don't mean s*** when doing a different art form. Obviously you are going to be stubborn, so that just means I've got to work harder and point out every little mistake, inconsistency, or error in order to help you improve, because obviously you are going to ignore the way that will improve you faster on your own.

God, this is like arguing with my little sister

I just made a new splice! I know they were'nt the best pokemon to splice together' date=' but I spliced lugia, darkrai, and blastoise.

[spoiler=or do you think he looks better without blastoise's arms?]106h851.png

I know the borders are a little off, but that had something to do with the recoulering. Other than that, how does it look?

Ps. I dont usually like to edit my last sprite. I think it's easier, and funner to start from scratch again and remember what the critiques said.

Just after I made Darkmortar.

Hmm?

don't look into it too much. New spriters always want to use legendaries, very few ideas get used for the first month of spriting...

With my splicing I actually don't go back and fix mistakes usually. Once I post something I'm generally done with it and working with the next thing. This is exclusive to my splicing though. Almost any other kind of sprite I continuously edit to keep eliminating the problems. I want to think the only reason I don't go back with splices is due to my large output of them I have.

It probably would help if I went back and fixed my splices though. Now all I'll need is a steady flow of critique on them and maybe then I can.

I like using darkrai. It's usually challenging, and takes a lot more work to do. Also, I sued shiny darkrai. My fav two pokemon to splice are darkrai, and mewtwo.

Well, it's also not ur desicision to decide whether or not you get to give us helpful advice or not. The creator gets to decide. And if you still do, then so be it. We wont give a care about what you say. It's our responsiblilty to try to become a better spriter and splicer, not urs.

It's the responsibility of those with experience to pass down that experience in order for the next generation to be able to become greater than the previous ones
